IPod HiFi volume problems

I just moved my HiFi into a different room and now it only plays at a very high volume. When I try to lower the volume, remote and on the box, the light flashes orange and eventually just mutes. Then the up volume flashes green and it comes back to a very high volume. Any help?

Disconnect the ac power cord of the iPod HiFi for 30 minutes and also take off the battery inside the iPod HiFi. See if it helps.
Have you tried to connect other device e.g. CD players and connect it on the back of the iPod HiFi? See what happens....

    my ipod does not have any problems that cannot be solved by turning it off and on again. However, the volume goes wired when i listen to music. Im just sitting there and listening to it and all of a sudden the volume turns up and when i try to turn it back down it goes up again. I turn it on and off and it is fine but it does seem to re occur. any suggestions?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
    Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - If you are using a pair of headhones try another pair.
    - Reset all settings
    Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
    All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

    Hey paralelopipak,
    Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like the headphones have a volume problem only on this iPod. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.

  • MBP with IPod HiFi and Optical Cable Problem??

    Hey guys, I just picked up a Hifi and was hoping to use it with my macbook pro. When I hook up a normal 3.5mm jack into the hifi's input it works, but when I use an optical cable it does not. Using the volume keys on my mbp bring up the normal Volume icon on-screen but there is a small circle with a line through it just below. Also, in the system preferences, under Sound and Output it says "The selected device has no output controls"
    Any ideas? Can it work with optical cables? I can always use a traditional 3.5mm jack but would prefer the optical
    Macbook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    It works in my case, I am now playing a song on my Itunes from my computer's optical out (G5 Tower) to iPod HiFi via a digital optical cable
    Connect external speakers, headphones, or optical digital audio equipment. The headphone / line output jack accommodates optical digital audio output, analog audio output with a 24-bit, 44.1-192 kHz D/A converter, digital audio output up to 24-bit stereo and 44.1-192 kHz sampling rate and supporting encoded digital audio output (AC3 and DTS). For analog headphone / line output a standard audio cable with 3.5mm metal plug should be used. For digital audio, a standard toslink cable with a toslink mini-plug adapter can be used.
    Open System Reference, sound, then output, in the box of choose a device for sound output , do you see the digital out, optical digital-out port?
    Make sure out the output volume, the mute box is unchecked.
    Regarding, the volume key on the computer is disable when your are using the optical output

  • Using Apple Ipod HiFi with Apple TV / Need better remote

    The TV I hooked up my Apple TV to is in a built in cabinet and there is not enough room for a stereo and speaker system. So, I took my Apple Ipod HiFi speaker and plugged it into the audio out plugs of the Apple TV. I can squeeze the Apple HiFi into the shelf above the TV and it fits great. The component outs on the Apple TV still go to my HDTV. It works great and I can listen to my music from Itunes on my Apple HiFi. The problem is the remote for the Apple HiFi is the same as the remote for Apple TV. So, if I have a song playing and I try to scroll for a new song, if I scroll down the volume on the Apple HiFi goes down. If I scroll up, the volume on the Apple HiFi goes up while I'm scrolling up. It seems like Apple should have a better remote solution to let you control the Apple TV and the Apple HiFi separately with the same remote. Anyone know how I could do this?

    You can pair each remote with each device by pressing the menu + FF buttons down for 6 seconds, hold the remote close to each device, you might want to pair the  hifi in another location and bring it back afterwards to avoid confusion.

  • New ipod nano doesn't fit new ipod hifi

    I just bought a new 4 meg ipod nano and apple ipod hifi from the London Apple Store. The ipod nano doesn't fit in its adapter. Anyone know of this problem? I'm gobsmacked that Apple's quality control let this happen!
    Thanks

    The page
    http://www.apple.com/ipodnano/specs.html
    clearly says:
    In the box:
    * iPod nano
    * Earphones
    * USB 2.0 cable
    * Dock adapter
    * Quick Start guide
    If the dock adapter is missing, which is what you need, because the iPod Hi-Fi only ships with an adapter for the 1st-gen iPod nano, then you need to contact Apple or your retailer.

  • DVD optical cable to iPod HiFi sputtering

    I recently bought a new DVD player with optical output. I bought an optical cable to connect it to my iPod HiFi. However the only audio that emerges is this bizzare sputtering, like a tiny engine or something - "pff pff pff pff pff pff pff", etc. I'm new to the world of optical connections. Any guidance as to what this problem could be?
    Standard RCA to miniplug works fine, but I really wanted to try this optical hookup thing.

    The thing is that, even though iPod HiFi does have optical input, it does not have integrated digital decoder for multi-channel signal decoding. To put it in a few words, DVD audio is usually Dolby Digital 5.1 or DTS 5.1/6.1/7.1. This is not possible to listen on iPod HiFi because it does not understand that complex signal and cannot translate it to analog audio output it supports, hence the digital buzzing sound you hear when you connect a digital optical source. Try playing a DVD with your Mac’s DVD Player app and change the sound output format from analog to digital when connected to iPod HiFi by optical cable and you will hear what I am trying to explain.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
    How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • OS 3 teasing my iPod Hifi

    Hey
    I have a iPod Touch 1 Gen. connected to my iPod Hi-fi. After updating to the new OS 3 I'm having volume problems. Each time I turn the volume up, the iPod automatically drops down about 15-20%. Also when listening to music the iPod drops the volume down without remote interaction.
    I hope someone has a solution or Apple will provide a update ASAP :'(
    cheers
    KSB..

    Try checking to see if you set the volume limit. Go to 'Settings→Music→Volume Limit'. Make sure that it is set to 'off'. If it is 'on', tap it then select 'unlock volume limit'. Enter your volume limit code; it is usually your security code unless you decided to pick a different one. Good luck.

  • IPod HiFi A1121 power supply unit

    Hi there,
    I have an iPod HiFi A1121 and am aware it is discontinued.  My power supply unit is the problem with mine, but due to the fact it seems quite complex and there are 3 different output wattages on it, it doesn't seem to be something I can just find a similar one of.  Does anyone have a broken HiFi that they are prepared to part with, or does anyone know of anywhere I might be able to find a power supply unit from that would enable me to use my HiFi?  It works on battery power and my friend has an adapter, that allows mains usage, but it means it will only play music to the same level as with batteries.  Pleeeeeaassee could someone help me with any information?  Thanks very much

    Thanks!
    Interesting, this "Piggy back power adapter" will allow me to plug the fan into one of the ATA/IDE cables? Or do you mean the extra port on the power supply? (it has one plug for the outlet>G4, then another to support something like a monitor or similar) The G4 has a DVD burner, but no ZIP drive, so this is quite do-able if it uses the ATA power.
    When you say "lower rear", do you mean at the bottom? Below the power supply, to the right of the PCI slots? If so, this is the inflow for the CPU fan! I can understand mounting it outside the current outflow-vent for the dead power supply fan, although I'm not sure the best way to proceed with attaching the fan.
    Another question: what tools and supplies will I need? I may need to remove the plastic cover on the back of the G4 - the one that is outside the power supply - as there's a gap between the gray plastic and metal chassis that lets air from outside the machine come in. The screws for this cover use a funky, hexagonal screwdriver. If I need to take this cover off, what kind of screwdriver will I need? Also, should the fan not include screws/etc, what's the best method to attach it? Glue?
    Secondly, to cut a hole in the G4, will I need some variety of drill? I don't have one, so i'll have to borrow one... Since there's nothing in the ZIP slot, I can run a cable out through here (assuming it's long enough), and make a new bezel to keep the airflow inside intact.
    Ah! One other (somewhat related) question: my USB 2 card includes a power adapter, for use when several un-powered devices (flash drives) are attached. It works just fine with a flash drive and a small media reader, but it's slow to sense the drives - I think it's low on power. Unfortunately, this power plug uses the same variety of plug as the floppy disk drives found on many win-boxes - of which the G4 possesses none. Is there an adapter/cable for this purpose?
    Thanks, this is a HUGE help, I appreciate it.

    Hello All,
    I have the ipod hifi (which I love) and an Iphone 3g which I am using as an Ipod at the moment.

    Does anyone know anyway to correct this very annoying problem? Can you get adapters? or do I have to live with it? I was in love with apple until this point now we are not getting on.

  • IPod HiFi with other stereo components

    I own a 60GB Video iPod and I have been thinking of getthing a new speaker system for it. I currently have an early iMotion speaker set that I found on ebay for real cheap.
    I kind of want to find a speaker set up that will allow me to hook up my record player to it. Has anyone tried this with the iPod hifi yet?

    Works great with any turntable that has a built-in preamp (line ouput). I use a Optimus (Radio Shack) LAB-1000. Just needed plug adapters. Sound balance and volume very normal. Its a kick!

  • IPod HIFI and MacBookPro VolumeOutput very low

    Hello,
    I bought tne IPod Hifi to use it in presentations as an audiooutputdevice.
    I have a small mediacompany and I think that my customers have to hear the sound I made in good and "loud" quality.
    So the IPod Hifi works great with the IPod. Good soundquality and loudness... but when I connect my MacBook Pro to the IPod Hifi via minijack cables, the sound is lowerd abaout 3/4. That´s very bad.... In my first presentation the guys looked very suprised.... I come with this fat and big sounddevice and the output is very low... I just expected the same amount of loudness as it puts out with the IPod... but as I told only 1/4 of the volume in comparison to the IPod came out.
    So are there any sugestions? (I put the audiolevel on my macbook up at full range)
    Thanks for u´r help.

    I'm back now.
    Take a look at this article on pairing your remote to the Apple TV

  • Ipod HiFi using Airport Express

    Anything I can do to eliminate distortion when I play songs from my computer via Airport Express on my Ipod HiFi? I've tried adjusting the volume, but songs still sound distorted; they get worse if I crank up the volume.
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    first, make sure you play the same music file on your computer without any distortion, if yes check the EQ setting on your iTunes. Then recheck the following:-
    1. Are you using the optical cable from airport express to iPod HiFi or analogue minijack cable?, see change the type of cable help.
    2. Check your cable and make sure it is not a faulty one
    3. Is the signal of your airport express is strong enough?
    4. Make sure you plug tight enough on output of airport express and input of iPod HiFi
    5. Disconnecting your iPod HiFi for 15 minutes and try again
