IPod HiFi

Hi,
I have a problem with my iPhone (Software Running 1.1.4) When I dock the iPhone to my iPod Hifi, it does not play any music through it. It says it needs to disable the radio -> flight mode and I hit okay. It turns off the phone radio and then I go to the iPod function on the phone. When I select a song, it doesn't play any music through the iPod Hifi. The remote doesn't even function the iPhone either. Is the iPhone incompatible with the hifi?
Thanks, Paul

It is normal,
The Menu button on the remote does not perform the same function as pressing the Menu button on the iPod. The Menu button on the Remote changes playback between the iPod and an audio device connected to the audio input port. Because the remote does not have a wheel or a select button, you cannot use the remote to navigate the menus or skip to a different playlist on iPod. You must use the iPod's controls to navigate the menus or choose another playlist.

  • IPod HiFi - What dock connector do I use for a 80GB (5th Generation) ipod??

    Hi,
Just got a new shinny ipod HiFi, however what dock connector can I use for an 80GB (5thG) as the connectors only go up to 60GB??? Or does the ipod come with a dock connector? Can anyone point me in the right direction, pretty please.
Any suggestions would be great help.
    Cheers
    Sian

You mean the dock adapter, right? The little plastic piece with a slot?
Use the one for the 60GB.
The only thing they do is make the iPods it correctly in the dock.
The dock connector is the slot on the bottom of the iPod.

  • No Internet signal with 2 Airport express' & Ipod Hifi

My Airport express connects with a router and gives a wireless signal all over the house. The 2nd airport express (less than 50'ft. away connects to an Ipod Hifi. The 2nd airport blinks yellow and won't allow me to go onto the internet (ie radio streaming) while I am playing my Itunes thru the Ipod hifi successfully. Also, the 1st Airport is a soid green coIor.Why do I lose the internet signal when the Hifi is playing my Itunes library? I thought the 2nd airport just becomes a part of a network which is how it's setup under the Airport Admin. Utility? What am I doing wrong? Thanks for the help...Henry

my question is if they are set up to extend my network will my devices like iPhone, iPad, iPod all switch to the strongest available wifi? my set up as follows.
A newer Mac computer will automatically switch to the strongest wireless access point as it roams about the house, but unfortuntely the iOS operating system used in the iPhone, iPad, iPod etc. is not as sophisticated and will usually not switch automatically to another access point.
You will likely find that you need to power off the iOS device when you move to another area and power it back up to get it to pick up the strongest access point. Or, you would switch off the Wireless on the iOS device and then switch it back on when the device moves to another area.

  • Best Way (cables) to hook up apple tv , ipod hifi and lcd tv

Hi everyone, i would like to know how is the best way to hook up those three devices, i would like the sound of the apple tv to go out from the ipod hifi with digital audio cable and the apple tv acting as the airtunes. Thank you in advance.

Your best connection to the tv will be HDMI, failing which use component.
The  ipod hifi has a 3.5 mm mini jack I believe but I don't think the tv optical doubles as a mimi jack, so I believe you would use a 3.5 mm mini jack to stereo RCA cable for the audio connection.

  • New ipod nano doesn't fit new ipod hifi

I just bought a new 4 meg ipod nano and apple ipod hifi from the London Apple Store. The ipod nano doesn't fit in its adapter. Anyone know of this problem? I'm gobsmacked that Apple's quality control let this happen!
    Thanks

    The page
    http://www.apple.com/ipodnano/specs.html
    clearly says:
    In the box:
    * iPod nano
    * Earphones
    * USB 2.0 cable
    * Dock adapter
    * Quick Start guide
If the dock adapter is missing, which is what you need, because the iPod Hi-Fi only ships with an adapter for the 1st-gen iPod nano, then you need to contact Apple or your retailer.

  • Have I an Ipod HiFi A1121 and I would like to know if it is possible to use my iphone 4 with it.

I have an Ipod HiFi A1121 and I would like to know if it is possible to use my iphone 4 with it. Thanks.

    Hello,
Yes, you can use your iPhone 4 with it, but I don't recommend using it with the dock connector as it wasn't designed for the iPhone 4 and you may have unexpected results.
I recommend using it with the auxilliary jack on the back of the unit.  That's how I use mine and it works great to this very day.  The iPod-Hifi is still an amazing and great sounding unit and they're incredibly rare to find now of days.  I saw one on sale at Amazon.com for $999 haha!

  • IPod Hifi as Home Cinema Speakers!! Opinion anyone ?

Ok theres no surround sound option but I wanted to do a quick test with a new LCD projector I bought. I hooked it up to a DVD and then the sound went straight from the DVD player to the input socket on the back of the iPod HIFI and to be honest I was listening to it and thinking **** this is really good sound!! now I'm the first to admit that I am obviously not a complete freak when it comes to sound and as long as it sounds okay to me then thats all that matters. I just wanted to hear other peoples views on using the iPod Hifi as a home cinema solution (minus the surround sound part!!!)

Starfrog, I think you've answered your own question already. You tried it, liked it, and profess not to be a sound freak, so stick with it. you could have hundreds of purists tell you it's no good, but at the end of the day, it works for you and that's all that matters.
The sound is great, I love mine and am glad to finally be rid of the tiny, tinny little stopgaps that preceded this unit - but I wont be replacing my home theater speaker setup with the HiFi.

  • IMac connection to Ipod Hifi

Ipod Hifi perfectly working with my Ipod but... but no sound when connecting my Imac to my Ipod Hifi with an optical cable (Mini toslink at both end).
No solution found with the guys from the Apple store....
    Do you have a solution?

    Have you read this?
How do I switch playback from an iPod to a device connected to the audio input port?
If you have an iPod connected to the dock connector port and a different audio device connected to the audio input port you can select between the playback of these two devices by press and holding the Menu button on the remote.

  • DVD optical cable to iPod HiFi sputtering

I recently bought a new DVD player with optical output. I bought an optical cable to connect it to my iPod HiFi. However the only audio that emerges is this bizzare sputtering, like a tiny engine or something - "pff pff pff pff pff pff pff", etc. I'm new to the world of optical connections. Any guidance as to what this problem could be?
Standard RCA to miniplug works fine, but I really wanted to try this optical hookup thing.

The thing is that, even though iPod HiFi does have optical input, it does not have integrated digital decoder for multi-channel signal decoding. To put it in a few words, DVD audio is usually Dolby Digital 5.1 or DTS 5.1/6.1/7.1. This is not possible to listen on iPod HiFi because it does not understand that complex signal and cannot translate it to analog audio output it supports, hence the digital buzzing sound you hear when you connect a digital optical source. Try playing a DVD with your Mac’s DVD Player app and change the sound output format from analog to digital when connected to iPod HiFi by optical cable and you will hear what I am trying to explain.

  • Connecting TV to iPod HiFi

Simple question, but can I find an answer?
I'm going to use my iPod HiFi as additional speakers for my Samsung flat screen TV. The TV has a 3.5mm headphone socket and standard RCA phono outputs. Is it better to get a 3.5mm-3.5mm cable and connect the HiFi to the headphone socket, or get a phono-3.5mm cable and connect to the stereo outputs?
    bestest,
    M.

I can only speak for myself, I will pick a cable of RCA (connecting with your TV) and a 3.5mm jack to the iPod HiFi.

  • Bluetooth adapter for the ipod hifi  and my iphone 5

is there a bluetooth adapter for the ipod hifi that will let me use my iphone 5 via bluetooth?

The lock button on my iPhone5 has also started acting up. Extremely annoying. I have to get it replaced, but I've dropped my phone once and there is a scratch on the top left corner of the phone, so I'm not sure what the warranty says about this situation.

  • Ipod Hifi + Airport Express - Do I need a cable as well ??

    Folks
I've just ordered an Ipod Hifi ( I hope they don't bring out a black one now! ) and an Airport Express from Amazon - much cheaper than Apple store.
I'd like to use Airtunes from my laptop via Airport Express and also have the Hifi connected up to an LCD TV to improve the sound.
Which connection cable do I need to order for here in the UK ?

    Hi,
You need only one of the following cable for connection between Airport Express and iPod HiFi
    1. For optical cable for Mini-Adapter
    http://www.welovemacs.com/av2000106wht.html
    2. For Analogue
analogue cable with minijack both ends

  • Ipod hifi - same songs at same time in different rooms?

Can you create a sound system using iPod HiFi so that you can play the same track from the iPod or computer in diferent rooms at the same time - like the Sonos wireless system but without wireless amps? Airport only allows you to control one hifi/stereo system at one time....
    Jonathon

Thanks for that, but it doesn't answer my question. I
know how to connect my stereo to Airport, but what I
want to do is have the same tune playing
simultaneously in more than one room. Airport only
allows you to communicate with one stereo at one time
    doesn't it?
With the most recent firmware and iTunes you can now stream the same audio to multiple Airport Express base stations, which will allow you to achieve the result you want.

  • Using Apple Ipod HiFi with Apple TV / Need better remote

The TV I hooked up my Apple TV to is in a built in cabinet and there is not enough room for a stereo and speaker system. So, I took my Apple Ipod HiFi speaker and plugged it into the audio out plugs of the Apple TV. I can squeeze the Apple HiFi into the shelf above the TV and it fits great. The component outs on the Apple TV still go to my HDTV. It works great and I can listen to my music from Itunes on my Apple HiFi. The problem is the remote for the Apple HiFi is the same as the remote for Apple TV. So, if I have a song playing and I try to scroll for a new song, if I scroll down the volume on the Apple HiFi goes down. If I scroll up, the volume on the Apple HiFi goes up while I'm scrolling up. It seems like Apple should have a better remote solution to let you control the Apple TV and the Apple HiFi separately with the same remote. Anyone know how I could do this?

You can pair each remote with each device by pressing the menu + FF buttons down for 6 seconds, hold the remote close to each device, you might want to pair the  hifi in another location and bring it back afterwards to avoid confusion.

  • Set an iPod HIFI as the default audio device

    Hello
    Just "switched".
I want to bypass the internal speaker to use an Ipod HIFI as my default sound device.
Currently it is not recognized under System Preferences as it is commicating with my iMacvia airport express.
Any way to get this listed under "Choose a device..."
    Thanks
    Warren

    Hello
I do not want to hard wire the Ipod HIFI. I understand that if I used the line out feature the system would recognize the device. I would like the system to recognize a remote speaker connected by wireless network and to accept this remote speaker as the default audio device. Not likely but should be an option.
    Cheers

  • An update after a few weeks burn in period of my iPod HiFi

    Hello all,
Today, the long Easter Holiday started, so I told myself why not have a good relax holiday with listening to my iPod, I connected my iPod with my Goldmund reference stereo system and a pair of B&W 800 speakers. Humm ... not very impressive, I understood all the music on my iPod were compressed files, they were far behind from the music played from a CD, and I was wrong that by connecting with a good Stereo system would improve the iPod's sound quality a lot. So a bit disappointed, after listening a couple of songs, I switched the system off. Instead, I plug my iPod with my iPod HiFi, let it played as a background music and reading the book "iCon Steve Jobs".
What a prefect match between iPod with the iPod HiFi, playing the compressed music files with no complain.

    Good morning, my friend.
Yeah, the price is higher than Bose sounddock or Jbl's products.
For Bose and JBL - I classified them a higher grade computer speakers or at a level same as Mini Stereo.
But iPod HiFi is totally different level, (I do not ever say that it is around the audiophile level). Its sound great and it can fill a room as big as 200 square foot room easily.
Please read this post - hope can give you some light

In general, iPod HiFi is perfectly match with iPod, it is one of my best investment, and one of best speaker for background music.
You would not believe that I spent US$2000 for a pair of B&O speakers 3 years ago, for the purpose of connecting with my iPod, I am thinking now to sell this B&O in secondary market, as I would much prefer with iPod HiFi - But again, I am just talking of playing the iPod's compressed music files.
