Ipod icon not in 'source' list

HELP! On accedent...(I didn't think I needed to read the manual because by brother was showing me how to work it) I disconected the iPod when it said 'do not disconnect' just a couple of times. Is that a big deal? Only once has the little ipod icon appeared in the 'source' list. It isn't appearing now. It won't download or upload (or whatever) my other songs that I just put into my library. I tried 'authorizing' and 'deauthorizing'. It worked once, but it won't work now. Apparently, a bunch of people are having trouble with iTunes 5.0. Apple are you out there? What do I do? ANYBODY...PLEASE HELP!!!

Never mind I sort of fixed that. I REregistered my ipod, and now it recognizes my ipod. But it won't let me load on the songs I bought from the music store, only the songs from my cd's. I tried to deauthorize my computer, but I don't think that did anything. That may be because I don't have the main desktop, I have my own seperate desktop. If you know what to do...please tell me!!

  • IPOD Nano not in source list

OK... I've read several threads, and there doesn't seem to an answer out there...
The other night while updating my Nano (the second day I had it) it disappeared from the source list and hasn't reappeared. About half of my MP3s updated to it before it died. Now it just says "Do not disconnect" for days at a time. I can see the device in Windows XP explorer as an unnamed mass drive, but iTunes won't list the device as a source and I can't see any of the options for it. I've done all of the "R's" as far as resetting... even reinstalled iTunes from the web to ensure I had the latest version.
    Any help out there?
    Nano   Windows XP

This worked for me after downloading that confounded 3_23 update:
    1. Go to Start > Run
    2. Type "diskmgmt.msc" (without quotes). If it tells you it can't find that program, try it without the ".msc"
    3. That opens the Disk Management program.
    4. You should see your Ipod listed as one of the "volumes." It may not be identified as an Ipod; might just say "removable storage device" or something like that. You can tell it's your Ipod by the gig space shown. If it's a 4 gig Ipod, you should see something like 3.7 gig shown (less if you've filled it with music already).
    5. Right-click on that device and choose "Format..."
    6. Choose the "FAT32" option and click "OK" or whatever it displays to start formatting (I forget, and I'm not testing it again now!)
    7. You will lose any music files on the Ipod, but when it's done, your PC and Itunes should recognize the Ipod, and it should then work normally.
Be careful in that Disk Management program. You could wipe your hard drive if you choose drives incorrectly.

  • Keeping Ipod Icon in iTunes source list when Ipod is disconnected

My shuffle icon used to stay in the iTunes source list even when it was disconnected, which was really nice to make changes and then connect the ipod to update all at once, but it has disappeared. I have done some searching and can't find the answer. Any help would be great, thanks!

    Anthony,
Only shuffles have this "feature"...since regular iPods can sync against any number of selected playlists, one really doesn't need this capability as it less powerful than what is provided.

  • Source of supply () not in source list (27423/0010) despite source list req

    Hello,
We have soon upgrading APO in 7.0 version.
We have a SAP R/3 in 4.7 version.
APO created Purchase Requirements in SAP R3 with two kind of processes :
    - Heuristics
    - Deployment
In SAP R3 we have several database to maintain in order to affect correctly these Purchase Requirements to the good plant and the good scheduling agreement :
    - info record
    - scheduling agreement
    - source list in wich we attached the number of the scheduling agreement
When we manage the heuristic, there is no problem .The Purchase Requirements are send via the C5 transaction.
When we manage the deplyment, we have the message "Source of supply () not in source list (27423/0010) despite source list req" - The purchase requirements of the deployment are sent directly to SAP R3.
I tried to compare the database of a OK item and a NOK item but I can'tfound something different.
Have you ever had this kind of problem ?
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi Jingco,
I guess you have the PIR( Pur.Info record maintained ) in R/3 and CIFed to generate the Ext. Procurement relationship.
Please check that the Source of Suppy in Source list (ME01) is same as maintained in PIR.
revert back if still it doesn't help.

we are using APO and created an external procurement relationship based on the source list in ECC.  i tested with 2 setups: with check and without check on the material master - purchasing (source list). I'm getting the same error.
    whatelse should i check?

  • Ipod disappears from itunes source list after installing update 1.0.2

i plugged in nano to install more music. itunes asked if i wanted to install update 1.0.2 on my ipod, i clicked ok, and it installed. But the ipod never restarted or reappeared in source list or windows device manager (except briefly in devices when connected screen on ipod appears - but clicking stop just produced an error message that there was nothing to stop). it just cycled on ipod screen through apple logo, main screen and connected. ipod works fine otherwise. tried resetting ipod, restarting pc, different usb (although the original works fine when recharging son's mp3), reinstalling itunes - all no go. can't restore ipod as not registering on itunes or pc. any ideas before i grapple with apple phone support?

    All,
I've seen this one more times than I care to. At first, I thought I had a bogus unit. After replacing the first one, hooked up with a knowledgeable in-store associate who helped me part of the way.
Leodis' assessment of the update is correct. Apple needs to resolve the download portion of this update. It appears that the music, videos, and other content are downloaded, but the unit is left in an invalid state, causing it to cycle endlessly with the startup screen (Apple logo).
In the short term, the best advice is to NOT download the update.
If you are stuck with a unit still in this undesirable state, relax. There is hope.
First you need to disconnect your unit, and reset it. First slide the lock button back and forth (from lock to unlocked). Next press Menu and select (middle button) at same time, waiting for Apple logo to reappear (or disappear). Next press the Pause/Play button along with select button. This will take your unit to "disk mode". At this time, the screen should show a check mark and a message indicating it is ok to disconnect.
Before you reconnect the unit, it might be best to remove the iTunes software from your machine (using Add/Remove programs). I had to do this in order to get the software back to an "original" state. Basically, getting back to a point where you will be asked/prompted for updating the iPod software (of course, you will refuse this). Don't worry about your music, videos, etc. All of that library information should still be there in the original location (not the iTunes library location). You could also export the library, then re-import it later.
Now you can re-connect your unit up with your machine. Wait until it is recognized by your system.
Next go into "My computer" folder, you should see the unit there. You will want to right click the icon, and chose "format". This will re-format the internal flash hard-drive. Don't worry. It will not do anything to the ROM containing the bootstrapping software. Basically, you can't hose up this product, short of taking a hammer to it (which maybe by this point you might have contemplated that! )
After the re-format, you want to install iTunes again. Go thru the same motions as before. Bu this time, it will pop up a panel indicating that the unit is in themiddle of a restoration. That's ok. Click ok. Then, once the unit is recognized by iTunes (appears in left panel), select the unit, and go to Summary tab. On that page, you want to click on "Restore" button to restore back to factory settings.
During this restore, at some point, you will be prompted for that iPod update. Refuse it!! Don't do it. That's where we all got hosed.
After the restore is complete, your unit will be functional again.
At this point, go on your merry way and reload your media content back into the local library and then sync to your unit. This is also a good point to import your saved library info, if you exported it.
    Enjoy the nano!!!
Sorry this is a long post. Unfortunately, it took a few days to figure this out. But at least it is possible to avoid the issue. I've verified these steps on both WinXP (home edition) and WinXP Pro.

  • Finding "iPod" on the iTunes Source list

Sometimes when I view the Source list on iTunes (at the left of the entry screen) I see IPod and I can drag tunes from the iTunes Library to the iPod. But other times I do not see the "iPod" entry on the list. Often (maybe always?) if I disconnect the iPod from the pc, the "iPod" listing returns. _
Why is that happening? Surely there must be a better way to restore the "i{pd" listing than disconnecting and reconnecting the cable? Help. please.

Well, you won't see it in the Source List until it is connected.
    Unless it's a shuffle?

  • 1st Gen Nano not in Source List!

My 1st generation, 4GB IPOD nano was stuck on the apple logo...I forced it into disk mode, formatted it, connected it to a brand new install of Itunes 7.5. Itunes restored it, and it said "your Ipod is restarting and will appear in the source list when it's restarted". The Ipod restarts, but NEVER appears in the source list.
Otherwise it appears to be functioning normally (with no songs on it of course!) I can access all of the functions of the IPOD when it's disconnected.
Interestingly, it DOES appear in the source list when I use Rhapsody (it's identified as an "Apple Ipod").
Also, Itunes DOES recognize a DIFFERENT IPOD nano (also first generation). Therefore, I'm 99% sure the problem is the IPOD itself, and not my computer or the cable.
I have formatted and restored it several times, always with the same result.
I've tried this with 3 different computers, always with the same result.
Also, when I plug the IPOD into the computer, Windows offers to use either Windows Media Player or Rhapsody to manage it, but does not even offer to use ITUNES.
I've searched the Knowledge Base, as well as this forum, but have not yet found a case where anyone gets as far as me without their problem being resolved.
    Anybody have any ideas?
    Thanks!
    Tony

When your iPod is set to automatically update with iTunes, it will eject when finished and disappear from the source list. If you want it to stay in the source list, you can either check 'Enable Disk Use' or set your iPod to manual updating in iPod Options.
Note that if you use either of these, you'll need to manually eject your iPod before you can disconnect it.

  • IPod icon not available in iTunes and Desktop

Okay gang here's one for you. While working on my Mac G4, I had ejected my iPod icon as I was getting ready to shut down for the day. Next day after downloading music from iTunes I suddenly noticed I no longer had the iPod icon on iTunes or my desktop.I have the U2 4th generation iPod. I have tried everythintg except standing on my head while doing the five R's. Nothing has brought back the icon. My iPod is fully charged and plays, but I can not place the new music in my library on it. HEEEELP PLEEEEASE!!!!!! Thanks

Doublechecking. Have you also tried a complete uninstall of both iTunes and all the other related software components and then a reinstall? If not, try the instructions from the following document:

  • IPod shuffle disappears from source list

Each time I plug in my Shuffle to my computer, it shows up in the source list with the licensing agreement on the screen. No matter if I agree/save the agreement or cancel it, my Shuffle then disappears from the source list. I can't look at the songs on it or change any of the settings. I do have the latest version of iTunes and have updated the iPod, so I'm fresh out of ideas... Any suggestions?

After connecting the iPod, quit iTunes if it is running.
Then try using the iPod Reset Utility. It is different from Restore in iTunes.
