Ipod in Recovery Loop AND battery won't charge

I have read previous discussions about Recovery loops, but have not been able to figure out this:
My IPod says to connect to a computer, my apple laptop (OS X) says it recognizes an Ipod in recovery mode. I hit "recover" and agree to lose all info. It repeats this over and over. I have tried to plug my Ipod into many outlets to recharge but it always ends up with the screen "connect to a computer...".
I would send it into the battery replacement offices, but the warning is that you should only do that if that is all that is wrong with your Ipod. I do not KNOW if this is the only thing wrong with my Ipod, since I cannot get it to tell me it's problem. This all happened the day after the 1 year warranty ran out.
Thanks for any help or advice...
Katy

Borrow a friend's Magsafe adatper or go to the Apple store and try plugging into one of theirs.
Sounds like a dangerously unsafe/damaged magsafe adapter.

  • IPhone 3gs in endless loop and battery is not charging

Hi, I have tried to use as many methods from this forum as well as other forums but so far no success. I am hoping someone will be able to give me some idea. Much much appreciated.
I have a iphone 3gs 16GB. I can't get it to start up to begin with without charging it. The battery bar is red color. When I plug it in to either the charger or directly to my MAC, it will start charging. After a few minutes, the red battery bar will go away and the apple logo will appear. After that, the loading circle will appear and then it goes into an endless loop. I have tried to do a hard restore (power + home buttom), iRecovery or even redsn0w but none work as it cannot detect the device. iTunes also doesn't detect the device. I have cleaned all the connecters as well as tried it on my ipod, it works. Once the apple logo and the loading circle starts, I can't even shut down the iphone. The phone will stop charging after a few minutes and the cycle of charging will start again if I am plug in to the charger.
What should I try? Please help me . Thanks a million!

When you say you have reinstalled iTunes many times, have you followed the directions Apple gives for uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes and all it's ancillary applications and processes?
Apple's documentation on the process can be found here:
    Windows XP: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1925
    Windows Vista or 7: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
    Mac OS X: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1224
    I hope this helps.

  • PowerBook constantly alternates between charger and battery & won't charge

One my PowerBook G4 15" is no longer charging the battery. Since I have twin laptops, I checked that all batteries and chargers worked properly. The recalcitrant Powerbook recognizes that the charger is plugged in but will not start without a battery. So I swap the battery for a full one, charged with the other laptop and I can boot up. Now the computer indicates that it is running from the battery then quickly goes into power adapter mode, yet won't charge, back to battery after 2 seconds, back to adapter after another 2... on and on and on, dimming the screen up and down and draining the battery quickly. I did reset the PMU and the PRAM according to instructions read on this forum, to no avail.
    Suggestions greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Welcome to the Apple discussions.
There are only 4 components in the charging circuit: Power adapter, battery, dc-in card, and logic board. It sounds like you're sure the power adapter (you did swap power adapters to confirm that?) and battery are functioning. That leaves DC-in card and logic board. It's possible that there's a dc-in card issue where it's not letting enough power through ... is the female jack on the side of the Powerbook loose? You could compare it to your working Powerbook. If not, then more likely it's a logic board issue. Take it to Apple, have them send it to the Apple repair depot, and if your case is in good shape, they'll replace the logic board for around $325, which is less than half the rate if they did the work in the store. We recently had charging problems, and sent it to the depot, and they replaced the old battery too at no additional charge.

  • My Equium laptop's battery wouldn't turn on and battery won't charge (stays on 2%)

Basically my laptop is 3 months old and I don't know why its acting weird. Firstly, when I bought the laptop in June 06.. in the first week the laptop failed to power on in battery mode. So I stopped using the battery mode and had to always use my ac adapter to power my laptop.
Now 4 weeks later, I removed the battery at the back and put it back in. Guess what the battery started working. Now 2 months later the same problem occurs, only that this time after removing the battery in and out it still won't power on and the battery says 2% and also fails to charge.
So Im stuck with my wires again... can anyone help?

    @GreenApple123
Well, if you want to use a 3rd party battery so you should be sure that this battery supports the same properties as the original battery from the Toshiba.
In my knowledge Toshiba recommend to use the original batteries.
In other words, the using of the 3rd party batteries is at your own risk!

The iPod touch 5 battery won't charge, the iPod battery gets hot and doesn't turn on...  What is wrong?  Can photos and data be retrieved?

    - See:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. I suspect a hardware problem  due to the hotness. If iTunes can't see the iPod then uor only hope if to contact a data recovery company for getting data off the iPod. If you have an iPod backup you can restore another iPod, iPhone or iPad from the backup to get the data that was in the backup

  • TS1373 I have a 1st generation Nano, and I have a sad iPod icon, and it seems like my battery won't charge either.  I guess it's too old.  Anyway if I buy a new iPod will I be able to transfer my songs and playlists to the new one easily?

I have a older Nano, I think I got it in 2004 or 2005 and I have a sad iPod icon, and it seems like my battery won't charge, the low battery icon appears but never seems to do anything.  If I buy a new iPod will I be able to transfer my songs and playlists to the new one easily?  Thanks.

If you are using automatic syncing to load the iPod, all songs on the iPod are in your iTunes music library.  So, you won't need to transfer anything from the old nano.  Just sync the new iPod from your iTunes library the same way.
If you use the Manually manage music setting, AND there are songs on the iPod that are not in your iTunes music library, you will need to off-load songs to your computer first.  You cannot transfer song files from iPod to computer using iTunes (except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store).  However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer" you should get some links.
Also, if this is a 1st gen iPod nano, you can check this article to see if it applies to you

  • My ipod touch battery won't charge

My ipod was out of batteries, so I charged it, but no matter how long I left it for, it wouldn't get past the 20% battery line.

Take to an Apple store or Apple certified repair shop. When a battery won't charged, it's time to replace it.

Can you play the song in iTunes?
If you can't the song file is probably corrupt and needs to be replaced.

  • My battery was recently replaced and still won't charge

I recently had my battery replaced at the PC Store in my University, he had it working and plugged into his computer. It charged perfectly fine. When I took the iPhone home and plugged it in to charge, it was doing the same thing before the replacement battery.
It is an iPhone 4S and simply won't charge. It goes straight to the full charged icon. I have tried multiple cords and plugged it into my computer and the wall outlet. I am wondering if something is up with the cord I tried first and it some how short circuited a part of the battery. When he had it plugged in on the new battery, it worked perfectly fine but then for me the program continued. Any suggestions?
I had recently updated to the current IOS but the issue was happening before the update as well. I checked the pins on both the iPhone and the charging cord and they seem to be in tact. ZERO water damage when he opened up the phone. To quote his comment "It looks better than iPhone's I know for a FACT had no whatever damage at all".
At a loss for what the problem could be. Numerous restores and restarts have done nothing.
    - Sulley

Take it back and ask them to make it right.
If you didn't have the battery replacement done by Apple, they won't touch it now.
Sorry. If whoever replaced the battery for you won't or can't fix it, then you will need to find a competent repair shop or buy a new phone.
