Ipod in the car with invisible shield

I have Blitzsafe ipod adapter installed in the car and hook up my ipod with the bottom connector which plays through the car stereo and charges at the same time.
I had the invisible shield on but the ipod got very warm and froze. I took the shield off and so far the ipod is working fine. It still gets warm but did not shut down or freeze. Anyone have experience like this ?
Now I've the ipod in the Agent18 case and the ipod is fine so far in the car.

I use the Blitzsafe to charge my iPod and it never seems to overheat.
(As an aside: I don't use it for the audio because I found it to boost the bass unreasonably. Only one of my two Blitz units does this, so I imagine it's just a bad unit.)

  • IPod in the car with Kenwood KCA-iP500

I just connected a Kenwood KCA-iP500 iPod Control Interface to a Kenwood KDC-MP228 receiver. Installing the iPod Control Interface could not be easier (once the receiver is out of the dashboard). It’s just one cable that goes from the back of the receiver to the iPod. The sound quality is excellent, way beyond an FM modulator or cassette adapter. When the iPod is connected it gets power, but is also locked so that it can only be controlled via the in-dash receiver. That is not a problem since playlists, shuffle mode, and track selection are made with buttons on the in dash receiver. Moving between playlists works just like switching CDs in a CD changer. The playlist name and track name are also displayed on the receiver.

Hi Rob - I'm about to get the Kenwood interface too, but at the sacrifice of unplugging my much-loved 10 disc changer!
Could you answer some quick questions for me? The product info from Kenwood is thin - you really would make my day if you could fill me in on these. Thanks.
    1. I've read that the Kenwood interface only lets you play 10 playlists, like, the first 10 from your iPod or something. Is this true?
    2. Can you play/play all/shuffle/repeat an artist, genre, album or playlist like on your iPod, or is it just playlists? If so, how usable is this process?
    3. Most car MP3 systems suffer from massive usability problems. Is there anything that particularly limits this set up or annoys the crap out of you?
Thanks - any help you can give soon would be great! I have to decide by Friday if I want the stereo chap to install it or not!!
    Aww - cheers!

  • Does playing my ipod on the car stereo with USB hurt the battery of the ipod?

Just curious if when playing the ipod on the car stereo using the usb plugged into the stereo unit will cause the battery life to shorten since it is seems to be charging the ipod.  Or does the ipod have a regulator that stops the charging once the battery is full?

Thank you for the info.  I must have gotten a bad ipod, because I only had it for a month and the battery would drain down overnight even with the wifi and bluetooth off.  I play it on my stereo unit hooked up with the USB.  I didn't think that by doing that it would mess up the battery and cause it to drain quickly in just a month.

  • My iPod locks up after using it in the car with the iTrip

I recently upgraded my iTunes software and iPod software to the most recent versions available. Since then, my iPod will work in the car with the iTrip for only a short amount of time and then it starts scrolling through the playlist by itself without playing anything and then gets stuck in the on mode. I have reset the iPod as directed by the Apple website and it worked fine from my computer and in my Bose sound dock. Once I put it back in the car on the iTrip the same thing happened. I am wondering if since my software upgrades the iTrip is not longer compatible with my iPod. Please help! Thanks!

How do I use my ipod in the car without it constantly charging?  I have to use a docking cable into the USB port because the 3.5mm to 3.5mm jack I bought doesn't work with the ipod (although it does work with an MP3 player).  My ipod is a 5th generation 80GB classic.

I know this is old - but did you ever get this working. Thinking of getting a 780 ti card and I have an older mac with the mini-displayport too.

  • Best way to use iPod in the car?

Is there any consensus on the best way to use your iPod in the car? I have used the Belkin Car Kit with the cassette tape for over a year with my 20GB iPod and I really like it. It keeps my iPod charged and the sound quality is really pretty good I think. Now I have gotten a 30GB video iPod for my wife and want to find out what people feel is the best product for car use before I start buying her any accessories.
    Thanks.

I concur with T-squared. The Kensington 33185 is simple to use and the sound quality has been excellent. I bought it just last Friday and it has seen me through numerous holiday roadtrips over the past week. It charges and has three presets; I can recommend 89.7 or 106.5 FM when you're in the Philadelphia/Princeton area. :->

  • Playing the Ipod in the car.

I have the video Ipod, 60GB, and the Road trip, car converter.
I cannot get the Ipod to play in the car. Everything seems to be working fine, I plug the converter into the cigarette lighter, I put the radio station and the converter on the same station, and I know they are connecting because the static disappears and it goes silent, however, the Ipod shows as if it were playing, but I get no sound.
Is there something that needs to be changed in the Ipod settings so it will play in the car?
    Thanks.

Have you tried playing with the volume on both the iPod and the car?

Only Apple knows and they have not said anything about adding that option.

  • IPhone 3G with Invisible Shield : Placing in the dock???

Can anybody advise if their is a problem with the iphone having this shield on it whilst fitting into the dock?. I've heard the dock is a tight fit already without any phone protection.
    Thanks guys.

Cheers Bri !. Should be getting mine at the weekend, 16GB in white to match my Macbook.
One more thing, when syncing can you choose to only have certain contacts from your Macbook transferred onto the phone?. I dont want all my contacts on my phone as I will be scrolling for ages !
p.s. can you have certain no.s most regularly used on speed dial etc?

  • Returning nano with invisible shield - do I remove the shield first?

I have a nano that I need to return for replacement. It is wrapped in an invisible shield. Is it necessary to remove the film before I return it to Apple?

I got the standard answer from the Apple support line...They are not responsible for any accessories so keep them if you want them. I didn't expect that the Invisible Shield would come back, since I think they will just replace the unit. I removed it anyway. I thought I may try to install it again.
I always make sure I have backups to whatever is on the nano. Too many people have been bitten by that...Trying to learn from others' mistakes.

  • Powering an IPod in a car with FM transmitter

I'm going to buy a video IPod for Christmas and one of the new ITrip LCD's that hook onto the dock of the IPod to transmit over an FM frequency (the new ITrip LCD's have gotten pretty good reviews). However, since it plugs into the dock, that limits me to charging it with my car lighter. I was told there is a USB mini B on the ITrip that I could use for power but am not sure how. Does anyone know of an IPod accessory or combination of accessories that I can use to power/charge from a mini-B USB to a car lighter?
Also, should I also get a normal dock or charger for my home? I'll probably only use the Ipod in my car so I don't want to buy an expensive dock station.

  • Playing a ipod in the car

I do not have a CD player in my car but have a slot for it to go and a multipin socket at the back where the CD player would dock. Would it be possible to buy a adapter to play my ipod through it. I suspect not and unique to the Car Manufacurer. A VW.
Failing that I gather I can play my ipod via a cassette adapter. These seem surprisingly Cheap! Are some better than others. Does anyone have any recomdations.
    Thanks a lot
    Stephen

    Hi again,
You have to make sure the input socket first, if yours are the same type as Benz, which are for digital signal, then you can't plug your iPod directly. There are few ways to make the connection with your car stereo.
    1. Cassette adapter - which is cheap with sound quality just OK. But make sure you buy with a good brand name e.g. Sony or Philip, otherwise, you will end up with the same problem as mine. I bought one of no-brand, it stucked in it and could not eject.
    2. FM transmitter - If your car stereo with Radio, then there are plenty option, which costs more than the cassette adapter, sound would be better but depends the FM frequency in your country, if there are too many radio stations then it will produce noises. Do a google search, you can find dozen there, I bought the monster cable which is not bad.
    3. You may go and check with an expert of car stereo company, they will recommend with some new products. I currently using this, they are great with good sound quality but expensive

  • Ipod in the Car

What can I buy to listen my Ipod's music in the car?

The best option I found is to get a car deck that features a front AUX input. This gives you sound quality on par with headphones or your home stereo (no static, crystal clear).
Any deck that features an AUX input will work, meaning you can get a deck for as little as under $100, so with installation you're looking at likely $150-$175 depending on where you go and what car you drive (some cars require more expensive "kits" to properly fit the deck into the space).
    A mini-jack cable costs about $6-8.
This is the way most cars are being made now when you see one marketed as "MP3-player compatible" such as the new Honda Civics and Toyota Yaris.

  • Using ipod in the car

I am going to buy my husband a new video ipod for Valentine's Day. He says that he has a buddy that can listen to his ipod over his car stereo over an FM transmitter or something like that. Can anyone tell me if that is a built in ability in the fifth generation ipods, or will I have to purchase something additional. Thanks for any help!

I use the following Kensington Digital FM Transmitter/Auto Charger and LOVE IT (bought it at the Apple Store)!!

Not only can you listen to the iPod, but it will charge at the same time. I use it in a major city with a lot of stations and have had little to no static using this product.
