IPod install disk creates internal error

I just bought my 1st iPod but am having difficulty. iTunes loaded just fine and I can download music/videos, etc. but I cannot download songs from iTunes onto iPod. When I connect to USB, the 'do not disconnect' message comes on but songs do not get loaded onto iPod.
Internal error I get at install has only a number, no description to tell me what the error is.
Appreciate any help!!!

What's the error number that you're getting?
Also, what model/generation iPod do you have?
You could try bypassing the iTunes install CD and downloading the latest version (7.0.1) from the website.

  • Internal Hard Drive Died - Now replaced - Disk Utility Internal Error

When using the original system disk to install OSX the new hard drive isn't recognised even though I have formatted it for an intel based mac (GUID Partition, Extended Journaled etc) using my imac . When launching Disk Utility from the system disk and trying to erase/partion the drive, I get the following error message "Disk Utility Internal Error - Disk Utility has lost its connection with the Disk Management Tool...". When connected to my imac using a converter it appears on my desktop. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The macbook in question is a 2006 (white). PLEASE HELP.....

Hi - Thanks for your reply. I have tried that but it still doesn't work. I have had a look around online for the past couple of hours and I found a post that said that newer hard drives can't be recognised by an original 10.4 osx system disk. I would need to find a copy of 10.5 to install OSX on a new hard drive. I dont know if that's true because I dont have a copy of 10.5. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

  • Disk Utility internal error message

I am receiving an error message every time I try to repair permissions on my MB running OS X 10.4:
    error:
    Disk Utility Internal Error
Disk Utility has lost its connection with the Disk Management Tool and cannot continue. Please quit and re launch Disk Utility.
Tried that several times to no avail. After quittting Disk Utility, system becomes very sluggish and Finder stops responding.
I then booted from the installation CD and ran a Hard Disk integrity check. It checked Ok. Then I tried a permission repair and got the exact same error message quoted above.
    Any help?

There was a problem with this a couple of years ago involving iTunes Library Receipt files. See [Mac OS X 10.3: Repair Disk Permissions 'Disk Utility has lost its connection with the Disk Management Tool.|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303132].
It seems unlikely that would surface now, but the suggested fix is worth trying. The article also mentions looking at Console log. Console is in Applications/Utilities.

  • Burn a disk failed - internal error

why do i get a "burn a disk failed - internal error" when attempting to burn a disk?  I have burned 11 consecutive disks w/o a problem.  number 12 wouldn't burn!

I received the same error message then I noticed that one of the tunes in the playlist that I was trying to burn was listed as being 4 minutes long but was in fact playing for only one minute - there had been an error in its downloading. I removed that tune from the playlist and I was immediately able to burn the playlist. Hope this helps you.

  • DISK PERMISSIONS "INTERNAL ERROR"

Hey, I hope I did it right. I am new at this. THE BOARDS is great! I originally posted the problem at the beginning of the catagories area using the search insert, and inadvertantly posted it within several different topic areas.
THE BOARDS had changed a little since the early 2005's as well.
PECOS BILL from another area should take credit, as to that's where I found the answer. Got so many e-mails the first day, had to shut down subscriptions for the topic!

  • DISK UTILITY "internal error" PERMISSIONS REPAIR NOT COMPLETING.

After downloading Software Updates, Disk Utility's Permissions Repair does not complete , says "internal error". Then must quit Disk Utility against computer's own advise that it may harm Hardrive?

From Apple's point of view, it's near impossible for them to test every possible update environments, so glitches like this are inevitable. This one seems to be quite widespread, so Apple could be accused of not testing enough. Apple may well release a new update to correct this problem.
At least, I suppose, they are good enough to provide these forums free of charge.
Before I perform any updates, I visit places like MacFixIt.com and MacInTouch.com to see if anyone has experienced any problems. There are plenty of people out there who are happy to go through the pain & frustration and to work out solutions for the benefit of the rest of us.
Did you fix your problem by the way?

  • ITunes install is creating unexpected errors (this has never happened)

Let me just start off by saying, I have been using iTunes for almost four years; I love the program. Recently, my friend left the country about a month and a half ago (he was the computer expert), I have been unable to access iTunes for about a week now based on the following error with Windows Vista: An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT, version="8.0.50727.4053:, type="win32,publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e8e3b",processor Architecture="x86". It told me to refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x80070422.
I am no computer guru, I have no idea what this means or who can fix it. I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes over 10 times. Additionally, Apple Mobile Device Support will not uninstall. When I do get iTunes and Quicktime installed it tells me that I am missing CoreAudio.dll, CoreVideo.dll, and CoreAudioToolbox.dll; once again, I am not a computer guru, I have no idea what this means. Please help, I have over 8200 songs downloaded and over 200 videos that I cannot properly access without iTunes. Thank you.

    HRESULT: 0x80070422
These ones are usually caused by an underlying problem on the PC that can also stop Windows Updates from installing. So my main strategy with them is to try to get the Windows update trouble fixed, which usually clears up the iTunes install trouble +en passant.+
Open your Windows Update and open your Update History. Have Windows Updates been failing for you recently? If so, doubleclick on the failures showing up in your update history. In the small box that comes up, what error code is shown for the Windows Update failures? Is it an 0x80070422 like your iTunes install error, or is it a different code? If they are different error codes, what error codes are you getting for the Windows Update failures?

  • Mac Mini will not read dvd data disk ie osx install disk with internal drive but will read dvd movies

As title said , cant get internal drive to read data dvd's havent tried cd's. I also tried to use an external drive with no luck with any disks. system info shows the drive though. So i guess i have 2 issues. any ideas will help thank you

If the drive can read a movie DVD then the problem must be that the OS DVD is either dirty or badly scratched. Look at the shiny side. If it has finger prints clean it with a lint free cloth. If it has scratches you can call Apple for a replacement disc for a nominal charge.

  • Disk Utility Internal Error

    Hello!
Yesterday I tried to add a partition to my 2.5 TB hard drive, where my Time Machine backups are stored. Since Time Machine doesn't need as much space (for me it needs 220 GB now, and it's not increasing fast), I wanted to make another partition for data on the hard drive. When I tried to add a partition with Disk Utility, it displayed the error message: "Disk Utility has lost its connection with the disk management tool and cannot continue. Please quit and relaunch Disk Utility". As the message says, I quit Disk Utility and relaunched it, but it gave me the same error message. I also tried to boot into Recovery HD and partition it, but that also didn't work. I verified the disk and the permissions, everything seems ok. Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

No solutions found. I managed to partition it with iPartition without any problems.

  • Disk FirstAid internal error

I am running Panther on my eMac. Of late, when I have attempted to run Disk First Aid, whether from the hard drive or booting from the system disk, I get a message after a few minutes after clicking on "repair disk" that reads something to the effect that First Aid cannot continue becuase it has lost contact with the Disk Management Tool.
Running DiskWarrior has not resolved the problem. DiskWarrior states everthing is good.
I might note that my computer is funcitoning bug free, but I always liked to periodically run these utilities (Disk First Aid and DiskWarrior) in order to keep the system running smoothly.
    Any suggestions?

That question comes up often enough that you'd think someone at Apple would've sensed a market opprotunity by now. Add your comments via the Apple Feedback (using the OS X link); with enough voices, who knows?
Apple Stores do offer free downloads of Apple software updates onto CD-R (you provide the blank CD-R, or they'll be happy to sell you a blank disc spindle), but again, in rural areas you're pretty much stuck since there aren't a lot of Apple Sores in rural areas.
Some public libraries do provide high-speed access to their patrons; you could call your local library and check.Likewise, if there are any local computer stores, you could call them and ask what they'd charge for downloading a few MB onto CD-R (if you don't attempt to modify the downloaded .dmg, you can easily download Apple updates from Windows PCs --- just be sure to close or finalize the CD-R, that's an extra step in every Windows disc burner I've ever used).
An smaller and hence easier download would be TrimTheFat, a utility which can be used to trim the Intel code from the iTunes application, after which you should be able to run Disk Utility (thanks to Niel for that link and tip).

  • Disk Management Tool error in Disk Utility

Update: (first, reviewing problem that I and others have been having, including on 10.4.x systems):
When I attempt to repair permissions on my HD with Disk Utility, I get this specific error message: "Disk Utility internal error -- Disk Utility has lost its connection with the Disk Management Tool and cannot continue. Please quit and relaunch Disk Utility" and the repair-permissions will not proceed. It fails to get the proper "correct" permissions info for that drive to allow the repair. The error log points to a file in the Library called "DiskManagementToll" The path is ~/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/DiskManagement.framework/Resources/DiskManag ementTool)
This problem is appearing in many forums here and elsewhere, including 10.4.x systems (like mine) and persists in a few after deleting suggested files. Is there a sophisticated solution that addresses the problem through the DiskManagementTool file by replacing some values or replacing the file from a backup vis SUDO or Root?
Previous posts have focused on Macs running 10.3.x and with iTunes 6.0x installed. Not here, so the problem is more general. None of the "delete iTunes / plists / Chess.app" suggested fixes have worked for me. Also tried running DU from my Tiger install disk; no luck! -- still fails when it tries to determine the correct permissions.
The "DiskManagementTool" file apparently either stores the correct file permissions or handles reading them from the receipts in the Library. If I understand things right, Disk Utility is actually a (user)-permissioned graphic front end, while DiskManagementTool is a Root-user-level tool that actually does the heavy lifting. Can I replace -- and any benefit to that -- or rewrite it with proper access?
There is a complete crash log report in Crash Reporter, by the way. Anyone want the text, and would it help figure out what's happening?
I've tried the suggested deletion of iTunes 6.0.2 or Chess.app and their plists (these and other steps were suggested on MacFixIt at http://www.macfixit.com/article.php?story=20060111090035797 the advice is, basically, to delete iTunes 6.0.2 and/or Chess.app and related plist files.) As I said, no luck!
Everyone that I talk to says it MUST be the fault of some other 3rd-party disk utility software.
For what it's worth, I HAVE run Disk Warrior -- and, the drive that's having the problem is a recent reinstall from a backup using Carbon Copy Cloner. The original disk is NOT having such a problem, only the hard drive on my iBook after the reinstall. Don't know if that gives any clues (or to how the link gets somehow disengaged between Disk Utility and the Disk Management Tool file / software).
Any thoughts on that? What about replacing the Disk Management Tool file in the Library or forcing some kind of re-link to it? some Unix guru MUST know a fix!
Obviously, the big worry for me is that I can't update my System to 10.4.5 or anything else without repairing permissions first. This IS a big deal. And others are having the same problem. Help?!?
    New 2 GHz dual g5 , Dual g4, & iBook G4 (recent) Mac OS X (10.4.4)

A system problem was involved that became, briefly, a "known issue" that was solved in the next minor update. Solved, anyway, by the advice given by the last poster. Thanks! SJ

  • Unable to scan (internal error)

    Hi Apple Have a question,
I am trying to create a bootable partition on my external firewire Hard Drive for Leopard OS.
First I created .dmg file : "Mas OS X DVD.dmg"
2nd > after creating the dmg file - I ran "Scan image restore" on the DMG file
3rd > after running completing both steps above the system generates this error message:
"Unable to scan "Mac OS X install Dvd.dmg" (internal error).
According to my research, before installing Leopard on to an external hard drive as a bootable partition, the dmg file must be scanned before completing the process.
However, the scan is not working. Can someone shed some light on how I can
    get this off the ground.
    Again:
The object is to create a bootable partition of leopard on to my external hard drive for
Technical maintenance support of my computers.
Please send me your solution or thoughts

Sorry, no Apple here, only other users. That said, I have no idea of what you're trying to do. If you want to make a bootable partition, all you have to do is install the software onto the partition. Alternatively, you can put a bootable backup/clone of your current boot volume onto it using Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper!. BTW, the error indicates that the .dmg file you created is corrupt.
