Ipod instructions for downloading audiobooks offered by local library

Trying to download an audiobook to ipod touch from local library.  Info says Transfer Wizard requires Itunes option Manually Manage Music (and videos) be enabled.  To enable View Summary info in Itunes and check Manually Manage Music, etc.  However, I cannot find this option on my Ipod and I cannot go any further.  I have tried multiple options on the ipod and internet...can you help?

You need the OverDrive iOS app and maybe the computer app too

  • Instructions for Downloading and Activating the JCOP Tools

    In response to my question:
I refer to JCOP Tools available on Eclipse.
If the plug-in free for download?
If it is not, kindly provide a proper hyperlink from which those interested can place their order.Listed below is the reply from IBM. Can anyone who has successfully obtained the activation code this way confirm whether you need to foot the postage?
    Cheers!!!!
There is no charge for the JCOP Tools. The tools are provided as-is with no warranty or support. Instructions for downloading and activating the tools follow.
Please note that because our Java Card operating system is now available for more than one silicon vendor, IBM will no longer act as a distributor for sample cards. If you require a sample card, you must now approach the silicon vendors directly . Our current silicon partners are Philips Semiconductor, Samsung and Sharp. In addition you may be able to obtain JCOP sample cards from suppliers on this list http://www.zurich.ibm.com/jcop/order/cards.html
JCOP Tools are subject to US Government Export Controls, and therefore each install has to be activated individually to ensure compliance. Please follow the instructions below for each copy of the tools that need to be activated.
    Prerequisites:
       1. If you do not already have a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) installed, download and install a JRE or JDK. You can do so from this website (http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html). Please note that we recommend the use of JRE version 1.4.2.
       2. If you do not already have the open source software development environment Eclipse installed, download and install Eclipse (http://www.eclipse.org/), You can do so from this website(http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/index.php). JCOP Tools require Eclipse 3.1
To download the tools and start install:
       1. Download the current Update Site image from here (http://www.zurich.ibm.com/jcop/download/eclipse/image/tools.zip)
       2. Unzip the downloaded file to a location of your choice
       3. Start the Eclipse IDE
       4. From the menu bar click on Help > Software Updates > Find and Install
       5. In the Install/Update Dialog select Search for new features to install
       6. Click Next
       7. Click on New Archived Site . . . and browse to the location chosen in step 2
       8. Select the file tools.zip
       9. Click Open then OK then Finish
      10. Eclipse Update Manager will start to install the plug-in, continue with the install as needed.
For an activation code please send me ([email protected]) the following information:
       1. Your full postal address  - the serial number will be sent via International Courier for US Export control reasons.
       2. Your contact telephone number
       3. The serial number of your JCOP tools install
       4. Your planned usage/reason for needing the JCOP tools
       5. If a student, a copy (fax or digital photo) of your student ID
For the serial number (item 3 above):
       1. Ensure you have downloaded and installed the JCOP Tools
       2. Start the Eclipse IDE
       3. From the menu bar click on File > New > Project
       4. In the New Project Dialog expand the Java Card folder
       5. Select Java Card Project
       6. Click Next
       7. You should now see the JCOP Licensing Wizard
       8. Click Next
       9. Select Verify an Activation Code
      10. Click Next
      11. The Serial Number should appear on the next page, above the Activation Code entry fields.
      12. Once you have that number click on Cancel then Abort (Note: the Java Card project choice will be disabled until the next time you restart Eclipse)

For those who are interested to use the JCOP simulator for a start, I have checked that the plug-in and feature files (in tools.zip) for Eclipse are still available at IBM site, please download and install yourself.
I still keep a copy of user guide for JCOP tools (version 3.1.1a) and the contents are still relevant to Version 3.1.1b simulator in tools.zip.
If you are interested to have a copy of such document, kindly drop me an email to [email protected]

Need instructions for downloading/installing Flash Player in my PC

Hi, This is the Adobe Flash Player Uninstall link:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
This is the Adobe Troubleshooting Guide which you may want also to review. I would suggest using the Manual Installers which you can download and SAVE to your Desktop. Pay attention to any apps using Flash, you may need to Disable any Anti-Virus. Be sure to use the Administrator Account and check Settings. Be sure to Reboot after running the Uninstaller and also after Installing.

  • Unable to download e-books from local library to audiobooks, WHY?

I have spent numerous days trying to add an audiobook that I uploaded from my local library to my IPOD. I either get an error that I do not have a "license", for which I do obviously....or I drag into my ipod and it is no where to be found. I have saved the file to my desktop. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO NOW!

Aside from the point that a change in subject should have started a new thread...
What was the name of the person at Apple that you interviewed, that told you that "Apple doesn't want to work with our public libraries?" Because if you didn't, then you're just relying on the ignorant (and often wild) speculation of others.
Let's just say, for the sake of argument, that Apple has tried to work with many of the hundreds--maybe thousands--of library systems connected with the cities and counties of our 50 states. Let's say that many of them couldn't agree on what kind of protection they would want incorporated into FairPlay (Apple's Digital Rights Management technology).
But now let's assume a miracle happens, and all of the libraries agree upon what they want. But now you move up a level, but only to get the same thing: the big publishing houses not agreeing on what kind of protection they want on copyrighted material that will be loaned rather than sold. Keep in mind that these publishers are already not happy about the income they lose because of the rampant copying (i.e. theft) of music from library-owned CDs.
But that's all about content rights. What about the actual technology? Or even one aspect of the technology: encoding. Could the libraries make these "loanable" audiobooks by encoding them as MP3 files? Nope, neither Apple nor Microsoft offer DRM for MP3 files. OK, how about .wma files? Well that's Microsoft's DRM, not Apple's. Apple designed FairPlay to work with AAC files. So here's another possible issue: maybe the libraries don't want to incur the costs of licensing fees for encoding AAC files (or other formats, for that matter). And don't blame Apple for that, as AAC was developed by (mainly) Dolby, Fraunhofer (FhG), AT&T, Sony and Nokia. Hmmm.... I wonder if that's why Audible.com developed their own format, and could have FairPlay "wrapped" around it so it could be sold on the iTunes Store...
And finally, a business philosophy argument. Apple wants people to buy iPods. If execs in the iPod group hear many people complain that they can't get library audiobooks, and therefore are second-guessing their decision to buy an iPod, then believe me: they'll try to make it work. Because the more things work, the more iPods they sell.
I'm not trying to be harsh, onelimerick, but I think you're falling victim to the same thing so many people are (and this is not to insult you at all): that is, that the end product is easy to use, and getting it to be that way must be easy too. Your average iPod owner would be blown away if they knew of everything that happens/happened behind the scenes to make their experience so simple. Sometimes, though, there are roadblocks, whether temporary or permanent, within the process. Which means that for you and I, we have to be content with the words of that eminent philosopher, Mick Jagger: "You can't always get what you want."

  • RE:  Fix for downloading audiobooks to iTunes issues IOS.7.4

Okay, so I've downloaded Audiobooks from Overdrive Media for years...right into iTunes with no issues.  Until this week, right after I updated to IOS.7.4.  Immediately after the update, I downloaded a couple of audiobooks, and noticed that they did not "spool" correctly once I dragged them into my Audiobooks playlist prior to syncing.
Once I tried to sync, and go to check my phone to make sure they were there...they were gone.  Never showed up on my phone, and they were gone from my playlist.  They were in my "Music" folder however, but not in my Audiobooks playlist.
After struggling with it for a night, I called the Apple Help Desk, and to their credit they were great!  Walked me through the view only process so they could see what I was actually looking at on my computer, and after about 30 minutes, decided that it was my iTunes that was the problem.  I was on the most current version, but for some reason it was not operating properly.
Forwarded very simple How To instructions on deleting iTunes and all associated files and then reinstalling the program (I lost nothing), and it fixed the issue and I'm back to normal with syncing, and have my Audiobook playlists back with my downloaded audiobooks in it.
So, if anyone else is struggling with this same issue...this might help you as well.
Took about an hour start to finish!

I build a small lab. It is regardless to disable CCKM, PMF or Anchor. The problem happens to Windows XP Clients (no Win 7 yet) and Access Points in FlexConnect Mode.
The first connect is stable. If you shortly disable the wlan adapter and reenable it, the client is connected to the wireless network but you cannot transmit any data. But Link test works :-)
After a rollback to 7.4.110.0 you can disable/enable the wireless adapter as many times as you want.

  • Can't download Ebook from my local library

When I download an ebook from my local library using ADE it won't download it into my ADE library only unto my computer (the book doesn't appear in my ADE libarary) so I can't transfer it to my Kobo.  Both my Kobo and my Mac computer are activated with ADE.  This function worked perfectly until last week so I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but with no success.  Help!

Reinstalling the software normally will not fix this kind of issue.
I'm not sure what 'feedback' you got from ADE when you did the
download.   You should not have to go through this process.  IF you have
registered with Adobe and obtained an Adobe ID, and then downloaded and
installed ADE, it will carry the registration information with it.
Libraries generally use Overdrive software, which checks for registered
copies of ADE or other ebook software on your computer during their
download process.  When Overdrive finds that information, it will activate
    ADE during the download process.
    The normal process is:
Find the ebook on the library site and go through whatever process they
have to download it to your computer.
When the download starts, you should have an option as to whether to OPEN
or SAVE the ebook, and where to store it.  Usually, when ADE is installed,
the location will be where the ADE library is located (My Digital Editions
    folder).
Choose SAVE.  The library will continue with the download process, open
ADE, and the ebook should appear in your ADE library.
Of course things can go wrong.  For starters, if you did not register with
Adobe before you downloaded and installed ADE, then ADE might not open at
all, and the library will download the pointer file (ebooktitle.ascm) to
your computer.  If this occurs, then you can 'grab' the ebook by finding
the file, then right-clicking on it and choosing 'Open With' from the
drop-down menu.  ADE should show up in the list of programs that appear.
Choose ADE, and ADE should start to open the file.
ADE might open the ebook in Reading mode.  If it does, then close the
ebook.  Then, go to Library mode, and click on the small arrow next to the
word 'Library'.  A drop-down menu will appear.  Select 'Add Item To
Library', and ADE will open another window asking you to tell it what ebook
and where that ebook is.  Fill in the information and ADE will add the
    ebook to your library.

  • All my songs are greyed out on my iPod except for the songs in my itunes library

I have over 10,000 songs on my ipod touch and when I connect to my Macbook Pro and go to itunes it states that there are over 10,000 songs on my ipod, but when I click to play them a little exclamation mark appears before it. (As it does when the source cannot be found.) At the bottom of itunes it still shows a large blue Audio bar stating that I have over 10,000 songs on it somewhere, but I cannot play them. When disconnecting from Itunes the artists and albums are all showing, but as soon as I go into an album all the songs are greyed out. This only just happened yesterday when adding a few extra songs I downloaded to my itunes and dragged and dropped them to my ipod.
Please help me, the data should be on the ipod somewhere, but for some reason I cannot reach it. I do not have a backup, so this is really annoying

    Thanks for the reply
No, I had not tried to download a audiobook previously. I guess I assumed digital editions would allow me to download audio books also.
This started when I acquired a older ipod [wide plug type] and wanted to download an audio book to digital editions-then to the ipod.
    Suggestions?

  • HT1349 I have registered with my local library and can download books.  But these are not being shown in ITunes, the Library does not show 'audiobooks'.  I have an ipod 6G.  can anyone help please?

I have recently purchased (from the States) an ipod nano 6th generation.  I belong to a local library and can download books from the audiobooks online section.  Problem is, my iPod when synced to iTunes, does not show Library as a category and audiobooks.  For some reason, it is allowing me to download the books to my iPod, but I am unable to delete them from the iPod, and also, it is giving an echo (I think somehow it is downloading twice which is giving an echo effect).  Not sure what is going on, but if anyone can advise me on this I would be very grateful.

    Hello mrsbonniesue
If you have an issue with the audiobook showing up in music, check to see if those tracks are labeled as audio books or music. The article below will explained as well as I have highlighted the main portion for changing that information.
iTunes 11 for Windows: Edit song and CD information
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12360
Identify an item that you imported from a CD as an audiobook, so it appears under Audiobooks instead of Music (click the Options button and choose Audiobook from the Media Kind pop-up menu). If you do this, iTunes also remembers your place in the audiobook
