Ipod/iphoto double copies

i wanted to see my iphotos on my ipod...so...i turned on download 'pictures' hoping that ipod and iphoto would simply link...instead ipod made a whole 5 Gig copy of the photos which is now stored in the iphoto picture file thereby eating up even more space on my mac. i now have 2 copies of all the photos on the mac.
any method to link ipod and iphoto and not use up space by having two copies of the photos on the mac?

No there is no solution and no the modified versions are not unnecessary
You camera and phone simply place a flag in the photos saying it needs to be rotated - this is fine for viewing a photo but not for processing or editing a photo - to process a photo it needs to be in the correct orientation- this is why iPhoto (and as far as I know all other Digital Asset Managers) take flagged photos and created a new version in the correct orientation
If you do not want this then you need to find a different program - it is the way iPhoto works

  • Why can't I sleep my Ipod by double clicking the home button?

My sleep/wake button doesn;t work anymore, and I want to be able to sleep my Ipod by double clicking the home button. That would be much more useful than the 3 stupid choices I have now: "Home, Search, and iPod."
The home button already takes you home. So choice 1 is stupid. To search all you have to do is press home and swipe to the right; so choice 2 is also stupid. Choice 3 is ******** because I can just click "music."
Why can't double clicking home do something useful? Like making up for a poorly designed, chinese-made button that only lasts until just after your warrenty expires?

"Why can't double clicking home do something useful?"
"Useful" s subjective.  The options are helpful to many.
" Like making up for a poorly designed, chinese-made button that only lasts until just after your warrenty expires?"
My button has lasted for three years.  I know no one personally who has a broken powerbutton.
Perhaps it is simply that your ipod has an issue.  Maybe you are blowing this out of all proportion.

i just copied some music from my external hard disc to my macbook . how can i make all that music be shown in my iTunes without having double copies of the music??

    Hello Sudhanshu Mishra,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
You can have iTunes reference the content where ever it is on your HDD without copying the content to the iTunes library, thus using twice the space.
If iTunes is set to "Copy files to the iTunes Music folder when adding to library," iTunes will copy all content that is added to the iTunes library to the iTunes Music folder. To adjust this setting or change the location of this folder, go to the Advanced tab in iTunes Preferences.
From: Adding music and other content to iTunes
              http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1473
Additionally if you want the content to then ALSO be located in your iTunes Library folder so everything is all kept together nice and tidy, use this:
Consolidate your files in the iTunes folder
Depending on how you imported items into iTunes, some items in your library might be stored in different locations (in another folder or on another hard disk, for example).
You can consolidate all the files in your library in the iTunes folder—for example, to make it easier to move your library to a new computer.
Choose File > Library > Organize Library.
Select “Consolidate files.”Files remain in their original locations, and copies are placed in the iTunes folder.
To create folders (Music, Movies, TV Shows, Podcasts, Audiobooks, and so on) inside your iTunes folder, and place all your imported media files in the appropriate folders, select “Reorganize files in the folder ‘iTunes Media.’”

  • Getting double copies (copy and past) of cast names in IMDb, older browser didn't do this.

I have a personal movie database I designed myself. I have always been able to copy and paste the cast list from IMDb to my database until I "upgraded" my browser from v.17 to v.27. Now I get double copies of the cast names and descriptions of the characters jump down and extra line. This is a very big aggravation to me. When I want to work with my database I have to use an older browser. Is there anything in "about:config" that I can change to correct this? The same thing happens between IE8 and IE11. What gives?

Yes, I have tried 31. The tabs were stuck on top and not changeable. I consider the tabs as part of the web page but the address bar is NOT. It would be nice to keep good features rather than "upgrading" away from them. Seems too many programs are just in a version race with total dis-regards to the users.

  • Single copies of songs in iTunes library/double copies of songs on iPod.

I bought an album from the iTunes Store. A friend later gave me the same album in CD form, so I ripped the disc onto my computer so that I could have non-DRM protected files of the music. Now my iTunes library included both the DRM protected files from the iTunes Store as well as the non-DRM protected files from the CD.
At first, I did not bother to trash the files from the iTunes Store. But then it began to bug me that there were 2 versions of the same songs for the entire album that got put on my iPod/iPhone when I performed a sync.
So I went into my iTunes library on my computer, deleted the DRM protected files from the iTunes Store leaving only the non-DRM protected files from the CD and synced my iPhone.
So why is it that my iPod/iPhone still has both version of the songs even though my iTunes library only shows the non-DRM protected version from the CD that I ripped?

  • IPod/iPhoto syncing problem HELP!!

I am writing this in desperation. I tried to sync my 30GB iPhoto library onto my iPod video. iTunes started filling up my hard drive. I had 8GB of free space on my hard drive, and now I have nothing. However 25GB of my iPhoto stuff made it to the iPod. I am wondering - does syncing iPhoto with iPod make iTunes double up the iPhoto? Does it place the entire library in the iTunes folder?
If I freed up more space, and the syncing completed, would the hard drive get back to its original state?` Is iTunes just occupying the space for syncing reasons?
    Please help!! Thanks so much!!!

I am also having this problem with an 80G iPod. Anyone out there with a suggestion?

  • Transferred pics from iPhoto, now every time connect iPod iPhoto launches

And i don't want it to. I got the photos I wanted from iPhoto onto my iPod, but now every time I connect my iPod Touch to my MBPro iPhoto launches. Please help me make this stop. Went through everything in Prefs for both programs, to no avail.
    Thanks in advance!

    1. It will only happen when there are photos in the "Saved Photos" folder in Photos on the iPod. You can empty that folder and it will stop launching iPhoto.
    2. You can turn this off from Image Capture or iPhoto Prefs. But turning this off will also prevent iPhoto from launching when you connect a camera or SD card.
Preferences (in iPhoto) -> General (at the top) -> Conecting Camera opens -> and click on no application
    OR
Preferences (in Image Capture) -> When a camera is connected: select no application

  • IPod shows 3 copies of songs-doesn't show up that way when connect to PC

Can anyone help me with this? I think there might be 2 and 3 copies of some songs either because I changed the genre on them when the iPod was hooked up to my computer, or because they are in several playlists. However, there are other songs that only appear once on my iPod and are in several playlists too. So that can't be it. The only thing I can think of is the changing of the genre thing. I had one album from an artist that was typed in all lowercase and I went in when it was hooked up to my computer and changed it, and now both the lowercase and the corrected name show up in my iPod. How do I get rid of these files or how can I fix it? I'm sure it's taking up space on my drive too. Please help. Thanks!

Okay, so here is a little more information. I do not automatically update my iPod, I have it set to manual because I use it with my computer at work which is a mac and my computer at home which is a PC. So my playlists aren't the same but I have all of my music that I want on my iPod. So what I want to know is, if you can go into your iPod when it's hooked up to your computer and delete songs and what not, then why when I change the genres, it shows up that the genre was changed when I hook it up to my computer, shows up that way on my iPod (so it got changed), but remembers the original genre that was assigned to it? Anyway, does that make sense or am I just making this more confusing?

  • My ipod has doubled up my music

My iPod touch 5th generation has doubled up my itunes library. I normally have around 900 songs and about 800 of them have doubled up. If I try to un-sync the music off my ipod it leave about 600 songs on there and they won't go away. Do I delete the 600 songs one by one? What do i do?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Ipod - iPhoto '06 photocasted album lost in recognition

Can anyone please confirm if there is really a problem with iPod (aka iTunes) recognizing photo albums that are photocasted?
    Powerbook G4 1.5GHz 12"   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

    sbfrom
I'm afraid this sounds like a corrupted library file - especially as the search won't work. Do you have a current backup? If so, copy the library6.iphoto file from the backup to the iPhoto Library Folder (allow it to overwrite the existing one) and re-start iPhoto.
If not, then you'll need to create and populate a new library:
To create and populate a new library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same film rolls and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, books, calendars etc.
Move the iPhoto Library Folder to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library Folder on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual rolls to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library Folder on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

  • Dup or double copies of contact after syncing

    Hi
I have had this problem with my Treo 650 when I sync with the Address Book and now the same thing with the iPhone.
I believe it is something I am doing wrong. Here is what I can tell that I know of.
    1. My addressbook ap has about 2400 contacts in it
    2. I set up a sync to .mac sometime ago. The addressbook on the .mac web page shows about 7000 contacts... mostly dups. I deleted that, but that is time concumming. I have unregister my Mac for the .mac and then re-register, but the 7000 contacts came back.
    3. Any way is also true on the iPhone. There is a allot of dups on my iPhone.
Does anyone have a suggestion that could help me fix this problem.
Btw, the dups are not exact copies. Some time the dup are part of the contact information
    Thanks
    Ron

    Hi All
I call the apple support concerning this issue. It trues out that an application called "Missing Sync for Palm OS", that I was using for the Treo 650 has messed up the linking between iTunes, Addressbook and others. Once I removed it and ran iSync to relink all the sync devises the dup or double copying of contacts went away.
    Therefore this is fixed

  • Does apple Iphoto store copies of my photos?

    Hello,
When Iphoto imports photos from folders on my desktop does it store a duplicate copy of it in an Iphoto Program file (or wherever) or just using the original folder as it's saved destination?
I want to clear some space on my hard drive and am thinking about deleting folders of photo's off my desktop and just wanted to find out if that would delete them from Iphoto as well...
    Thank~u
    Gab

Find the iPhoto Library icon ( User>Pictures) ... right click it and click "show package contents".
You should see several folders and files .... Don't delete anything.
Have a look in folders 'originals / data' ... you will see the copies that iPhoto has created. therefore you should be OK to delete your originals (not the ones within the iPhoto Library Package contents) from your desktop (if that's where you keep them).
    Hope it helps.
Have you considered to just move all your originals to an external hard drive and use this to store and import to iPhoto from? That way you have a backup of all your photos in case anything happens to your iMac/iPhoto.

  • Connecting iPod  & iPhoto Opens not iTunes?

Each time I connect my iPod Touch to my laptop, iPhoto opens, not iTunes. How do I stop this from happening? Itunes should be the default program when the iPod is attached. Thank you.

iPhoto Preferences -> General: Connecting Camera... and select 'Does Nothing' from the drop down.

  • Double copies of every message

I don't know if this is a .Mac issue, Mail issue, or both. I recently synced with my work computer (first time ever) and wanted to use all the .Mac features finally.
Well, as it turns out they have some kind of bandwidth block after a certain point, so quickly my Mac was booted from the network.
Anyway, I've since disabled Mail syncing, but ever since, my IMAP .Mac account has been downloading two copies of every message I get, thereby threading every one into two, which means I have to open each thread to even read the single message.
I would appreciate if anybody knew of a way to reset mail without me losing what I currently have saved there. I switched from Entourage to Thunderbird to Mail, so this has been rather... harrowing, but everything was working fine until the double-download problem began.

I'm having a hard time understanding what the problem is.
In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/. With that folder open, do Edit > Select All (⌘A), then Edit > Copy (⌘C), and paste it in your reply to this post, to let me see the names of the files and folders present at the root level of the Mail folder.
Before actually posting that information, you may edit it so that the file/folder names do not reveal any details you wish to keep private, e.g. you may replace any real username with "username" if you wish; similarly, you may disguise any domain names you don't want to be revealed. Try to be consistent in how you disguise those details, though, as we may need to refer to them in subsequent posts.
