IPod/iPhoto -- is the a "Senuti" for photos?

Is there comparable softward to Senuti that will allow me to download photos in my iPod to iPhoto on my computer? Also, can I download my quicktime movie clips (taken with my digital camera) on to my iPod?

  • What is the ideal resolution for photos when creating a photo book in iphoto?

Can you tell me what is the ideal resolution for photos I use to create a photo book from my iphoto library?

The DPI depends on the size of the image to be printed by the image file.  A 639 x 960 image could print a 3.5  x  5 photo at 180 DPI.  This website explains it further: The Myth of DPI.
So use the smaller photos only in the smaller frames on multiple photo layouts for best results.

How do I get the volume on my ipod classic to the same level for all songs?  Some songs are a lot lower than others.

Coverflow in iTunes is sorted by Album Artist whereas coverflow on the iPod classic is sorted by Artist. Unfortunately, there is no way to set this on your iPod. This is such a fumble on Apple's part that I'm beginning to think they're becoming another Microsloth with buggy firmware and products.

Whats the best software for photo editing and creating product catalogues that can be saved as PDF's

You are asking two different questiions:
    1. What's a good photo editor? Answer to that here is probably obvious.
    2. What's a good desktop publishing/page layout program for creating PDF files for production? Answer, not PSE. It's a photo editor, not a page layout program.

  • Doesn't iPhoto negate the need to sync photos from my windows laptop?

    My confusion started here.... https://discussions.apple.com/message/20512109#20512109
Then I thought I had it solved!
So I created Journals and I could share them with anyone via the web - super!
BUT.... I have just deleted the photos from the photos app and my journals are empty?!?!?!?
I thought the photos uploaded to iCloud?
    Confused!!
What about the photos I have on my windows laptop? I dont want to have organise/store all my photos on my laptop and sync them each time I make an update.
Doesn't iPhoto get around this? Surely?
Or am I completely missing the point?
Any help with my confusion would be VERY much appreciated.
    Cheers.

The journals are uploaded to iCloud, but synced and edited with the one device that created them. When you create them with your iPhone, you have to keep them in the camera roll of your iPhone.
I recommended the journals, because they are the only way to get photos into iCloud for more than a month. The photo stream entries will vanish after a month. The journals may live longer, and  they are synced to the version on your phone. The advantage of journals is, that you can browse them from the web on your other devices, so you do not need to import them on the other devices, like the PhotoStream.

Now I am confused. How many photos are we talking about? A lphoto library can grow very quickly. You will not be able to store all your photos on the iPhone in the long run.
The general idea with iPhoto in the iCloud is to have a selection of your best photos with you on your mobile device and to upload it to iCloud to share the best photos  with all your other devices. But your main photo library shoud be on your main computer with plenty of disk space, maybe on an external disk. iCloud only has 5GB of free storage anyway, and that is also needed for your other documents, mail, etc.
Are you running out of space on your laptop?

  • Where are the image numbers for photos sent via Photo stream?

I created an album for a friend of 450 images and sent them via Photostream. When indicating the ones she liked, she referred to the numbers but I can't see any numbers on the pictures. They are not the original numbers as I have them in Aperture. Can anyone tell me where to find them? Don't tell me she counted all 450 of them!!!

Forget the files - you do not access them using iPhoto - you access the photos using the media browser - in the lower left hand corner of every upload/attach/open window under media ==> photos ==> iPhoto

  • What is the best software for photos

FIRST TIME I USED A BLOG. NEED YOUR HELP NOT SURE WHAT PHOTO SOFTWARE I NEED .I HAVE A NIKON D3200 .MACBOOK PRO 15 INCH.WOULD LOVE TO LEARN HOW TO TAKE BETTER PHOTO AND USE THE PHOTO FOR LARGE PRINTS IN OUR HOME AS ART WORK.AS WELL AS PHOTO OF OUR CHILDERN.

Terence and daikambu65 addressed already the software options. But your original questions asks about taking photos:
would love to learn how to take better photo and use the photo for large prints in our home as art work.as well as photo of our childern.
This makes me think, you have not yet taken many photos and just bought a new camera.  If that is right, I'd recommend to focus on learning how to take good photos first.  Even the best software cannot help much, if the photo has been taken badly. Image processing software can turn a very good photo into a perfect photo, but poor photos will never be fit to be framed, even with the best software applied.
First, try to find out what your camera can do and how to use it.  Explore the effects of the available light on the subjects and the depth of field, how to focus on the eyes of a person. Explore, how your photos  will change due to the perspective - when I am taking photos of little children or animals, for example, I'll go down on my knees, to be able to take the photo eye to eye and not from above.  For photos of buildings I try to find a viewpoint, that will show parallel lines in the building also parallel in the photos. One way to learn how to take good photos is to look at professional photos and compare them to what you are seeing when looking through the viewfinder. Observe, how the photos have been cropped to attract the attention to details, how the light enhances the details, how shapes and colors are used.
If you're new to all this you might find iPhoto - which comes free with your Mac -  a good place to start. It's easy to use and covers all the basics.
I second Terence's suggestion.  iPhoto is a great way to get started with digital photography. I used iPhoto from day one it came out, and only switched to Aperture, when Aperture 3 was available.   iPhoto will help you to keep your photos organized in a library and provides a set of easy to use tools for the most commonly required tools to touch up your photos. Straighten the horizon, enhance the contrast, sharpen the image, crop the photo to the relevant section, retouch minor blamishes. This will cover most of the corrections you will need.
And once you know, what kind of post processing and database structure you really need and want, you can easily switch from iPhoto to Aperture, because both programs are sharing the same photo library format. I am still using both applications in turns on the same library.

  • Iphoto showing the same picture for all my uploaded pictures after update, how do I get my old ones back so I can upload them to websites?

After updating the new iPhoto software in the middle of December, I haven't been able to view all of my pictures that had been on my computer prior to the new software update, It shows the same photo for every single picture, how do I convert it back or reboot it?
    THANKS!!

make a temporary backup of the library and launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed to rebuild the library. Select the options for rebuilding the thumbnails .

  • IPhoto and the .DNG format for RAW images...

Does anyone have any experience using the .DNG RAW format with iPhoto?
I'm considering converting my .CRW RAW images to .DNG (long story) and I'm wondering if I risk anything in doing so (especially when using iPhoto as it's my main photo management program).
    Any advice would be appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Kristin.

Actually... I just noticed that Finder (in 10.4.11) had started to show previews of Panasonic FZ30-derived .DNG files. This camera is unsupported in Aperture and iPhoto. I'm not sure when this started, as I had already begun the process of picking a new camera, or moving to Lightroom.
Thinking, "That's funny, I wonder if..." and sure enough, iPhoto accepted a .DNG from the FZ30. Woot!
This is great! Now I can convert 16 MB RAW files to 8 MB dng's with Adobe DNG converter and stick with iPhoto for organisation. Just have to make sure DNG Converter doesn't convert the RAW to linear image.
I knew Apple wouldn't let me down. (Leave me twisting in the wind for awhile maybe)

  • Why did iphoto reduce the quality of my photo and turn my videos into jpegs?

I messed up my iphoto library by moving what i thought were the originals to an external hard drive. i've been told that i should have just made a copy of iPhoto file instead of going inside and taking what I wanted. it reduced the quality of all my photos so that they went down from about 3-5 MB each to being 30-50 kb each. The videos have all been changed in jpegs.
Anyway, I only have one back up (for an unknown reason) and the videos in that back up are the proper videos, but the video dimensions are tiny.
Any idea how I can piece it back together again and end up with what I had before?
    Thanks,
    Tom

Folks, I have the same issue.  Here is a sample image:   http://i.imgur.com/BkFelpt.jpg
1- this has nothing to do with nikon; I shot that on a Canon camera
2- this has nothing to do with disk space; I have 150GB of free space.
    I am running a 2009 iMac (2.66 Ghz Core 2 Duo) runing Mavericks - OSX 10.9.2
    I am using "iPhoto 8.1.2 (424)"
This problem happens randomly.  There is nothing that my wife or I have been able to determine to be the cause of iphot doing this.  The truly annoying thing is that you don't even notice it until you export the photo for use in facebook or some such
    The procedure goes like this:
      - hook up the camera and import photos
      - browse through the photos and edit the photos to touch them up (using "enhance" or "crop" or "adjust") until we're happy with the photo.  The photo looks fine at this point.
      - finish editting and the photo thumbnail that you see in your catalog of photos STILL looks fine.
      - now export the photo and look at it outside of iphoto and discover this horrible vertical affect
      - Go back into iphoto and the thumbnail STILL looks fine.  But double-click to bring up the larger size image and NOW you see the vertical bar.
We NEVER had this issue before upgrading to Mavericks.
Yes, I could upgrade iphoto.  it's not that much money. But the principle of the matter is very irritating.  This was caused by Mavericks.  It is some sort of a bug!

  • Does anyone know what app is the one they use in the new iPad for photo color adjustment

I would like to know if anyone that has seen the new IPad commercial knows what app is used to adjust the colors on the photos

The app in the commercial is iPhoto for iOS. But there a several other photo apps that can adjust the color in a photo and do other edits on photos. Visit the Apple App store on your iPad and search on photo.

  • Why will iTunes not sync to my iPod after installing the latest update for iTunes?

Hi I have a Macbook and I just downloaded the latest update for iTunes and when I plugged in my iPod to sync I keep getting and error message. How do I fix this problem?

I haven't done one of those for a while. But the following troubleshooting document might still be worth a shot:
'Disk cannot be read from or written to' when syncing iPod or 'Firmware update failure' error when updating or restoring iPod

  • When I drag a playlist from the list in the sources panel up to my iPod icon, the music is added immediately to my iPod. Are the rules different for this than for 'syncing' selected playlists to the same iPod?

I am trying to put music from two different libraries onto my iPod.  In the first case, I can, but in the second, the program says it will erase all content and sync only the playlists Ihave checked.  What in general is the method for loading an iPod with music from two different libraries?

Yes, if, you manually manage music and videos, iTunes syncs the content immediately. If you deselect “Manually manage music and videos,” the content you added manually is removed from iPod touch the next time iTunes syncs content. To transfer music from multiple computers, your device must be set to "Manually manage music," sometimes referred to as manual mode.
In general, follow these instructions for Using iPad or iPod with multiple computers, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1202
