IPod is acting weird when its Docked!

I havean iHome under the kitchen cabinet iPod dock/radio. The last couple of days it has been acting strange and not sure if its the iPod or the iHome! When I put the iPod in the dock, the screen of the iPod changes to an all white screen with a big check mark in the middle. At the bottom of the screen it will say OK TO DISCONNECT. When I try to play music, it won't. If I have it in the dock and the power of the iHome is off, the thing will turn itself on by itself! Today I kept hearing weird sounds coming out of my kitchen and this was the case! The ihome turned on by itself and the iPod was trying to play some music but the music kept skipping.
Now the iPod plays perfectly in the car or if I plug my headphones into it.
I have never seen do this before and I am not sure if the ipod or ihome needs to be serviced.

I would have the jack replaced. Use a third-party repair service via Google. It will be cheaper than Apple.

  • T420 acts weird when in docking station

    Hi.
I'm useally very happy for my T420, but lately it is annoying me, when I put it in Docking station.
When I dock it and power on, it acts if either I keep clicking the left mouse button all the time or as if I'm holding down the CTRL key.
I fix it by restarting the machine 1-2 up to 3 times in the morning. And then It useally behave the rest of the day. Untill next day.
I have tried to change keyboard and mouse, same problem.
I have tried to clean the notebook keyboard, no effect.
I have tried to keep the notebook lid open, but as I'm working on to external screens that is not a lasting solutions.
It is acting normal when not in docking.
Does anyone have suggestions to what I could try?  It is driving me mad as it only appears sporedicly in the mornings (at first docking of the day)
    Br, Mew

If the problem only happens when the laptop lid is closed then you need to make sure the antenna wires are laying flat in their slots.  If they are sticking up at all their causing a crease into the keyboard ribbon cable.

I have a 30 Gig 5th Gen IPOD It plays but there is no sound from the head phones and when its docks can anyone help

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

  • Why is my iPhone 5 acting weird when I plug it in to charge?

My iPhone 5c is acting weird when I plug it in to charge... The screen has uncontrollable movements/ app openings and closings.... Other wacky stuff happens to

    Hey there MeKai Curtis,
It sounds like your touch screen is acting strangely when connected to a power source. I recommend the steps in the following article:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Troubleshooting touchscreen response
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1827
    Restart your device
Hold the On/Off button until "slide to power off" appears. Slide to power off your device. When it is off, press the On/Off button to turn it back on.
If you can't restart your device, reset it by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for a least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Clean the screen with a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth.
Avoid using the device while wearing gloves, with wet hands, or immediately after applying hand lotion.
If you have a protective case, or if you are using a plastic sheet or film on the display, try removing them and testing the device without it.
If the steps above don't resolve your issue, please schedule a service appointment with an Apple Retail Store for evaluation. If an Apple Retail store is not an option, contact Apple to find out your best service option or see theService FAQ for your product.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

hi, i had to restore my ipod 5G and it says its in recovery mode and its saying ipod software downloading but when its done it says it timed out i tried like 5 times what should i do

Try disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall.
    - Next try the manual install method of:
iDevice Troubleshooting 101 :: iPhone, iPad, iPod touch
Place the iPod in recovery mode after the firmware download is complete and then restore using the instructions in the article. Sometimes recovery mode timeouts and returns to disabled before the firmware download is complete.
    - Then try on another computer

  • Ipod classic acting weird

my ipod classic started freezing, so I restarted it, and it had deleted everything, so I connected it to my computer, but neither iTunes or the computer could detect it. When I plug it in, the ipod acts like when plugged in, and I can't eject it because the computer can't find it, and everytime I just pull it out of the charger, it uses about ten minutes saying ''OK to eject'', before it restart again by itself. What should I do???

    Hi Ninariannemc,
Happy New Year!  Are you working with a Mac or a PC?  The link below will walk you through the basic troubleshooting steps for the iPod classic.
Apple - Support - iPod - iPod classic Troubleshooting Assistant
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/classic/
Having trouble with your iPod? Follow the steps in the order. Complete them one by one and stop as soon as the issue is resolved.
Step 1: Make sure your iPod is fully charged
Make sure your iPod is fully charged and then toggle the Hold switch on and off
    Reset
    To reset your iPod:
    1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
    2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
Tip:If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.
    Retry
Retry your iPod with a different USB port on your computer, not a USB port on your keyboard or hub.
    Restart
Restart your computer, and make sure that you have the latest software updates installed.
    Note:
To update your Windows software, select Windows Update from the Tools menu of Internet Explorer.
To update your Mac OS software, select Software Update from the Apple menu.
    Reinstall
To update and reinstall your iPod software, first download the latest version of iTunes.
Next, open the new version of iTunes and connect your iPod to your computer.
Select your iPod in the source list and click "Check for Update" under the Summary tab. iTunes will check to see if your iPod needs to be updated and perform the update for you.
If this does not resolve the issue, try completely uninstalling iTunes and then reinstalling the latest version of iTunes. For more information select from the following:
    Mac OS X|XP|Vista
    Restore
Note: Because Restore erases all of the songs and files on iPod, make sure to back up any files you've saved on the iPod disk. All of your songs, videos, podcasts, audiobooks, and games can be loaded back to your iPod provided that you have them stored in your iTunes Library.
    How to restore your iPod:
    1. Make sure you've reinstalled the latest version of iTunes.
    2. Open iTunes, and then connect your iPod to your computer.
    3. After a few moments, it will appear in the source list in iTunes. If the iPod's display doesn't show "Connected" or "Do not disconnect" you may need to put the iPod into disk mode to proceed.
    4. Select your iPod in the source list and you will see information about it appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes windows.
    5. Click the Restore button. You will be prompted with one or more restore options that may prompt iTunes to automatically download of the latest iPod Software. The 4 possible restore options are:
Restore Option 1: Restore - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod.
Restore Option 2: Use Same Version - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod even though a newer version is available.
Restore Option 3: Use Newest Version - Restores with the latest iPod Software on your computer.
Restore Option 4: Restore and Update - Restores with the latest iPod Software on your computer.
Note: For Mac users, A message will appear prompting you to enter an administrator's name and password.
    6. A progress bar will appear on the computer screen indicating that the first stage of the restore process has started. When this stage is completed, iTunes will instruct you to leave iPod connected to your computer to complete restore.
    7. During the stage 2 of the restore process, the iPod will show an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remains connected to the computer or iPod Power adapter during this stage. Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see since the backlight on the iPod display may be off.
    8. After stage 2 of the restore process is complete and the iPod is connected to the computer, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear asking you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences similar to when you connected your iPod for the first time.
I hope this information helps ....

  • Updated and now my iPod is acting weird...

I upated and restored my iPod a couple weeks ago. I saw where it said update and I thought that would make my iPod a little bit faster, however, ever since I did that my iPod has been acting strange.  First my unlock slide bar, it wouldn't slide. Next the iPod would black out and wouldn't cut on. Its been like that for about 3 weeks now? However when I went to take it off charge a couple min ago to see if it worked it let me slide it open, its still a little hard to slide open because I have to kinda use my finger tip.. near my finger nail. When I opened my iPod the game and texting icons were gone. All the icons open that were left expect for my music icon. There is a new icon I didn't see before called "Game Center". I can't connect to my wifi. I feel as if when I updated my iPod to the newest version on my itunes account it did something wrong to my iPod. Is there any way I can get my first generation back to were I had it?? HELP PLEASE!!!

  • Desktop acting weird when using External Monitor.

    Hey guys,
Just wondering if people have been having this weird "problem" when using an external monitor on OS X Mavericks. Though not really an issue that makes the OS/Mac usable, it's more of a quality of life thing (and it's really annoying for someone who likes things to be where I put them).
Anyways, the problem is that when I use my external monitor when at home, I have it set as the main display while the monitor on my MacBook Pro 15" acts as the extended/secondary monitor. No problems in functionality, BUT, the icons on my desktop always move while my external monitor is in use.
I usually do my work while using my external monitor and I use my desktop as my initial location to save my work files before moving them to an appropriate folder. However, revert back to not using the external monitor, everything just gets muddled up on top of eachother, stuff (sometimes) get missplaced and it just becomes a hassle to rearrange my desktop to how it was before.
tl:dr: desktop icons move when I use my external monitor as my main display.
So does anyone know if this is a problem that can be fixed, or is it an issue my monitor being a 3rd party model and old?
