IPod is currupted

Okay, so it was updating.
And it said 'do not disconnect'.
But I did.
And now iTunes says it's currupted.
What do I have to do???

iTunes keeps giving me the message that my iPod is currupted.  I have restored the iPod and reloaded iTunes but keep getting the same message.  What's weird is that my iPod will connect to another PC and that my PC will connect to my daughter's iTouch.  Any ideas?  My iPod was working with my PC for years and just started getting this error.

  • Ipod nano currupted or unreadable

So problem is that after i updated ipod from 1.1 to 1.2 it is visible only on desktop and its file system is RAW. And of course when i try to open it windows says its curruped or unreadable. Ipod updater doesn't see it as well. And every time i connect ipod system freezes for a while.
I have tried to reinstall all software but again the same.
Ipod itself works fine except every time its restarted all changes what i made (for example some menus off and different language) are restored to default ( language - english, and all menus are like they were by default) and it starts in language menu (me to choose language). In about-menu it says it has 0 songs and 0 photos, and its free space is about 20 mb (that was true when there were songs and photos in it).
I founded that i can format it in windows, can't i?
Thanks in advance and sorry for my english!

  • Windows doesn't recognize my ipod

I have the 30gb video ipod and when i was playing a game it froze. So I connected it to my computer and itunes loaded up and it said my ipod was currupt and i should reinstall the software. So I did and it started to when my computer froze (which has only happened once before). So i turned off my computer and restarted it, but then it wouldn't recognize my ipod and i can't get itunes to find the ipod so i can't update the software. And windows keeps on saying no drivers are found on the ipod so i can't really do anything with my ipod.
Does anyone have any idea how to get my ipod to be recognized by itunes and/or windows?

I brought it into the store and they were able to restore itfor me.

  • ITunes does not recognize 5th Generation video iPod in WinXp

PROBLEM: 5G iPod not recognized in iTunes (shows as removable hard drive in My Computer) via USB on HP Pavilion Notebook running WinXP. Latest error states insufficient power to run hi speed USB device on this computer. HP support replies that installed USB should comply to 480 Mbps hi speed standard. Trying to connect iPod via firewire results in "iPod can not be connected with firewire" error. Have tried the following steps before reaching this point:
Description of iPod: 5G, 30 gig video iPod model MA002LL contains 1.2 gig data (282 songs, 4 videos, 0 pictures)
Action: 5G iPod worked fine until connected to download purchased music 3 weeks ago.
Result: iPod screen shows "Do not disconnect" iTunes does not recognize iPod.
Action: Reset iPod (iPod works fine when not connected to any computer).
    Result: same as above
Action: Recharged iPod overnight with wall outlet to confirm full charge.
    Result: same as above
Action: Tried to run iPod Updater but iPod was not recognized by Updater (it does recognize iPod Mini and 4G)
    Result: same as above
Action: Reinstalled latest version of iTunes.
    Result: same as above
Action: Reinstalled COM interface for IPod Service several times.
    Result: same as above
Action: Ran repair maintenance on iTunes (repair successful).
    Result: same as above
Action: Uninstalled iTunes and iPod software, deleted their folders and bin files and cleaned out Temp directory, disabled virus protection and disconnected from network. Ran Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. (Uninstall successful)
    Result: same as above
Action: Restarted and reinstalled iTunes and iPod Updater
    Result: same as above
Action: Diasabled all non critical items in start menu
    Result: same as above
Action: Uninstalled all three USB controllers
    Result: same as above
    Action: Reinstalled USBs
    Result: same as above
Action: Tried to connect by firewire
Result: Error this device cannot be connected by IEEEE use USB cable.
Action: Talked to HP support to confirm USB standards on Pavilion Notebook.
Result: USB should read all 3 standard data speeds up to hi speed 480 MBps
Action: Tried 5G iPod on 2 other PC desktops with WinXP with powered USB 2.0 ports
Result: iPod shows "Do not disconnect" iTunes does not recognize iPod and both computers respond with the following error (which is not received on the notebook) "insufficient power to run hi speed USB device on this computer" both Desktops are older than the Notebook and have older versions of USB 2.0.
Action: Tried it on my iMac G4 thinking I could reformat it. Mac understandably does not read it as a drive. I tried the following three connections:
    1) Firewire connection: iPod screen shows: firewire connection is not supported; 2) Powered USB port connection: drive is not recognized by Mac and iPod screen shows do not disconnect; 3) Unpowered USB port connection returns an error of "USB Low power notice" on Mac monitor and iPod screen shows menu but won't connect to Mac.
    QUESTIONS:
Has the 5G iPod reached a point where it now pulls too much power to be read by USB? Is HP not giving me correct specs regarding the performance of the Notebook's USB? Why can I update my iPods with firewire on my Mac but not the PC? Any suggestions regarding what I should try next?
    Thanks.
HP Pavilion dv notebook Windows XP

Solution was found: HP was encountering a conflict with a trial version of Symantec Security Center and Norton Anti-Virus causing an incomplete install of iTunes.
The following actions resolved the problem. Uninstalled both Symantec applications, uninstalled QuickTime 6*, installed QuickTime 7.1.3 (iTunes would not install successfully prior to this step, seems redundant but worked), installed iTunes 7.1 (with Quicktime 7.1.3 again), connected iPod 5G which was finally recognized, received error that iPod was currupted, restored iPod and is now working fine.
I hope that this helps someone else with similar video iPod problems.

  • IPod- persistant crashing and doesn't mount on desktop when connected...

I bought my iPod about 4 months ago and it crashes all the time - every time i mount it i have to unplug it hold down the menu + middle button do a manual reset and then try again, when i'm updating my iPod it will also sometimes crash.
+(Not sure if this is releavant, but may help; the second time i connected my iPod to my mac after buying it, i had to do a complete software restore, as i got the message that the iPod was currupt.)+
i also have a click wheel iPod (uses FireWire), and my Dad has a iPod video 60GB (uses USB) and niether of them crash as much or need a manual reset to mount on the desktop. i'm just wondering if my iPod is faulty and i need to get it exchanged? or has anyone else experienced this with their iPod and knows a solution??
it seems to me that a FireWire connection is faster than USB, would it be possible to get my iPod Video to work over a FireWire connection, rather than USB?

Well youre not alone on this got this same problem it was working fine then had problems accesing files as harddisk use now it crashed tried restoring and thsi morning appeared to have been back to normal but NO FILES! I hope i can recover my data its so frustrating

  • IPod 5th Gen 30GB Video - Constant Freeze when updating songs

    Hi,
My new 30GB Video ipod worked fine for 3 days, then I got an error message in windows telling me a file on the iPod was currupt, and to run chkdsk on it. Could not do that, so restored the iPod using the lastest updater from Apple.
The ipod now startes to copy some songs across, but only gets a little way through before it freezes on the 'Do Not Disconnect' screen and I loose the iPod from windows explorer and iTunes.
The only way I can get te pod back is to reset it, and then it has no songs, videos or podcasts on it, so I have to restart over again, and then the same thing happens.
I have already reset, reinstalled itunes and ipod software, and I am getting a bit fed up.....
    Any ideas

Well, A trip up to the nearest Apple Store it is tomorrow then...
Done the reset, re-install of the updater software, re-installed iTunes etc etc.
How ofter are these video ipods failing?
(Oh, and now it allows me to turn it on again, then crashes on updating just one playlist onto my ipod.)

  • Need Help, Badly

Hi, I have had my 5th Generation iPod since it came out pretty much, and I am having some trouble that might become costly if I can't find an answer. I used to have iTunes on my old Windows XP computer before it fried, so I got tired of PCs and switched to Mac (and am very very happy with it). Now my problem is that ALL of the songs I downloaded to iTunes on the PC are on my iPod, but now when I hook up the iPod to the Mac it says that the iPod is currupted and needs to be restored. Now I can still listen to music on the iPod and recharge it but it will not hook up to any computer, so I can add/remove songs or update it. Now my costly problem is that I wasn't expecting my computer to fry up like it did and didn't backup the 633 songs, Robot Chicken Season 1, Dave Chappelle stand up, or anything that I downloaded off of iTunes. I logged into iTunes on my Mac and it will not let me re download the items unless I pay for them all once again. I was wondering if there is a way that I can fix the iPod so it will upload the songs (at least) onto my Mac so I do not have to pay for all 633 songs...

  • Video seen but no audio

    hi
I use a mac book and handbrake to transfer the videos.... though i am able to get the videos onto the ipod there is no audio ...any ide????
      Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Well sir if your still witnessing this problem try loading the video file on your computer to see if it's a file error. If so try another file converter for your ipod. Preferably video vault. You can also try resetting your ipod settings and to the extreme will be to restore your ipod. If it's anything your fault might lay between the ipod conversion (currupted file) or iTunes.

  • My nano's keep dyinig for no apparent reason.

This is the third Nano that has just stopped working for no apparent reason in the last 6 months. I'll plug it in to charge/sync and when I unplug and go to play it never turns back on. I also get a message that the USB port is no longer recognized by my computer. I've tried other computers and get the same message. I can see perhaps one ipod being currupt but all 3?

Could be a hardware or battery issue. Make an appointment with Apple Genius Bar and see what they can do.

  • When i plugged my ipod into the computer it reset with the new update and all my music on the ipod disappeared but the library showed my playlists still. Now its showing it as currupt and i cant even bring itunes up. What can I do? HELP please

What can I do to fix this. I cant bring anything itunes related up without that popup telling me it is currupt, and that I have redue it. Everytimg i have tried, it does the same thing. It was working once so I dont understand what went wrong and where. This is the 5th time redoing itunes, I've even tried restoring old versions. Nothing seems to be working.

If you have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. This makes 1 look and act more like previous versions. Also go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod>Sync your device>Set up syncing>Sync device manually.
to make sure you are follwoing the right instructions for drag and dropping.
If the songs do not play in iTunes on the computer then y willhave to reimport them into iTunes. For iTunes purchases you can
