Ipod is disconnecting as soon as it connects

OKay, so I may have rollay screwed up my ipod. I got a new ipod nano for Christmas and a Windows laptop. I had originally connected the ipod to my mac home computer and uploaded all the songs I wanted on to my ipod. I then plugged in my ipod to my laptop and it [the laptop] said the files on the ipod were not compatable with the laptop and if I wanted to change files and change the ipod to Windows. I clicked okay, knowing that it would delete everything off [I see now that this was a very VERY stupid idea]. I then took my ipod over to my mac and plugged it in, seeing if I could at least get the songs on to it. My ipod then synced with my mac itunes and uploaded all the songs in my itunes on to my ipod.
After I ejected it, I realized there was no music on the ipod. I plugged it back in and as soon as the computer recognized it, the ipod would automatically eject it. I tried different cords and even tried it on my laptop but it's still automatically ejecting [meaning I can not even click the restore button to restore the ipod]
PLEASE! Someone offer me any sort of help! I'm so angry and upset about this that any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!

I uninstalled itunes on my laptop then waited about an hour and connected my ipod to my mac (I just care that it will work on there) and all was fine and I was able to restore it

  • Facetime disconnecting as soon as it connects...

FaceTime dissconnects calls as soon as they are placed and says person I am calling is unavailable, (even when I am testing the facetime app by calling my own iPhone...)
Even when I try FaceTime from my iPhone 5 to the MAc, it still instantly dissconnects and gives similar message about the person I am calling...
I tried calling my wife on her iPhone 4 in the USA via FaceTime... same problem...
    Help!!!
    Why?
    What is wrong?
    How can I fix it?

Thanks for this. It might have been a possible cause of the issue with calling my wife in the USA, from here in the UK, but I am getting the exact same behaviour when testing it on my own phone.... So it does not explain why I cannot even make a FaceTime call to my own iPhone 5 from my Mac, or vice versa, (as mentioned above).... Given that they are both in the same building, (therefore same time zone), it seems this may not be the only issue. Also I have set my iPhone to "automatic" aleady, so this could not be a factor surely.
Any other thoughts as to possible cause?
I have read comments online that seem to suggest that there may be a glitch in iOS6 to do with FaceTime, but cannot get a clear understanding of whether this may be true, or the exact nature of it, or how it might be fixed, (if at all). Is there something to this suggestion?
Any help would be most welcome.

  • Ipod appear in my computer when disconnected, doesn't appear when connected?

It's impossible to add songs to my ipod because when i connect the ipod the taskbar says it's connects however it doesn't appear in itunes or in "my computer". In addition to that it takes million and a half years to eject it from the task bar. I've managed to disconnect it properly maybe twice. at first i thought it was that the drivers need to be reinstalled. but after waiting for an entire day for it to respond i disconnected it improperly and suddenly the ipod icon appeared in my computer and actually stayed there for a while while the ipod was disconnected. as soon as i reconnect it the ipod disappears. im thinking the computer is slow to respond to it since it immediately opens itunes when i disconnect it after waiting for hours.

The USB host controller maybe hung by the Antivirus or a slow CPU, with low RAM.
Antivirus has a tendency to freeze iTunes sync Operation with iPod Classic, causing a timeout, which corrupt your iPod filesystem, so when iTunes can't read the iPod, it is pointing to this problem. Other causes is when your iPod hardisk is dying, or your battery is dying causing hardisk crashes.
    My suggestion.
Connect your iPod to the PC and run chkdsk, to fix any iPod diskerror, then disconnect it, after chkdsk complete.
Disconnect your PC from Internet. (just to make sure no nasties creep into your system while you syncing.
    Stop the Antivirus program
Connect your iPod to the PC, using a high speed USB 2.0 port at the back of your PC. (don't use USB hub or the USB port at the front of your PC).
When iTunes Open up, Restore your iPod please, this is for iTunes to map correctly, to fix the corrupted filesystem.
When Restore complete, eject the iPod and reconnect again.
Sync your ipod, preferably manually Manage in small batches and disconnect after every batch, to check that all is well.
When all sync is complete, and iPod disconnected, start back your Antivirus and connect back the Internet.
    Good Luck!

  • Ipod nano shuts down windows as soon as is connected

I have just purchased an ipod nano 4th generation, downloaded itunes software with no problem, the nano is fully charged, this has been done on a different computer, my problem is that soon as I connect the ipod via the usb cable the pc shuts down and then tries to restart itself (no blue screen)it will not restart though whilst the ipod is connected, i have read that i should update usb drivers but am not able to see which one the ipod connects to as the shut down is fairly instant, has anyone else had this problem and how could it be resolved, need big help please

I've experienced the same problem since 21st November and attended the Ipod Genius Bar at Oxford Street and still no resolution. Today i have both my childrens Nano 4th Generation working/syncing etc.
The Nano identifies an apple ipod driver when connected to the computer for the first time when online. Itunes refuses to accepts this and shuts down, similar to your problem.
Without being online or opening itunes i opened computer management then device manager and disable the apple driver.
I then opened the assigned a USB Mass Storage Device driver to the Nano. I then opened the Nano in windows and found several files including calender etc on the disk. I deleted all the contents and disconnected it from the computer through the eject device feature.
I then opened Itunes and connected the Nano and it recognised it and required it to be fully restored which i did.
I have since connected it to Itunes Store etc and no problems.
By the way i have removed both Itunes & Quicktime no less than eleven times and reassigned drive letters to the Nano as well as re-create my itunes library on a seperate disk drive but the problem stems from the device drives and the programs/files already on the Nano.
    I hope this helps.

  • When i connect my iPod it disconnects automatically

as soon as i connect my iPod it disconect, it don't give me a chance to sync. help?

Know your frustration. Just spent 2 days trying to figure out why my iPod would start to sync than state "that it could find the file". My computer would reboot when disconnected and wouldn't return to idle mode. Tried everything on the website. Took to the Apple store this morning. They did a hard reset and than tried to sync with their laptop. I am being told that they are starting to see faulty connections internal to the ipod. I was told it needed repair

  • IPod nano 3G syncs, disconnects, but won't re-connect.

    _*Background info:*_
I've had my iPod nano (3rd gen) for about 9 months, and don't remember having a problem like this in the past. I hadn't used the nano for a while, but just recently added a new Serial ATA hard drive to my computer (replacing a parallel ATA hard drive), and now am wanting to use the nano more.
_*The problem I am having is this:*_
Now having a new hard drive, I had to reinstall iTunes and re-build my music library (had the mp3s backed up...).
So when I connect my iPod now, it seems to recognize it fine but it wanted to install my ENTIRE library - which is far too large to fit. It then gives me an error saying there's not enough space, and disconnects the iPod.
Now, I realize all I need to do is select the "Selected playlists" button under MUSIC tab when the iPod is connected, but here's the problem: the iPod will not RECONNECT when I choose that option and click "APPLY". Similarly, after it's sync'd (or attempted to, given the size issue), and disconnected, it will not re-sync either.
I also tried temporarily decreasing my library size so that it WOULD be able to install the whole library on the first go, as it's trying to do by default. This worked in that it sync'd fine and installed the entire (smaller) library, but I still have the issue where I can't change the settings under the MUSIC tab (to sync ONLY the selected playlists, not my entire music library) and click APPLY - it simply won't reconnect after sync'ing and disconnecting. The iPod, after disconnecting, appears to be on and the screen is lit, but it has the normal menu-browsing appearance, not the "CONNECTING/CONNECTED" appearance.
*Any idea why my iPod won't reconnect, or let me apply settings changes, after it's sync'd and disconnected in iTunes?*
    _*Technical Info:*_
    - Windows XP (on PC), Service Pack 2
    - Serial ATA Hard Drive
    - 4-port USB PCI card (to which I am connecting my iPod... I've tried connecting it to my 2 built-in USB ports, also - which don't work well; long story - but I have the same problem).
    - iPod Nano 3rd Generation
    - latest iTunes install (downloaded yesterday 9/18/08 from iTunes website)
    - I don't get any 'exclamation point' errors in my Device Manager for USB/iPod connection.
    - Finally, note that I did implement a 'fix' for my Serial ATA hard drive. Turns out that WinXP recognizes it as a Mass Storage Device, and hence, gives the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon in the system tray for my hard drive. I put a DWORD of "DisableRemovable" in my "nvatabus" folder (nVidia ATA bus; motherboard) in HKEYLOCALMACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Services. I don't think this would interfere w/ the iPod in anyway, but thought it was worth mentioning.
    Thanks a lot,
    Dan

Also, I just tried syncing media other than music, such as pictures.  And the sync worked just fine.  So it seems to be something going on with syncing music to my iPod nano.

  • My iPod show total white screen as soon as I connect it to my PC and cannot syncronize

My iPod nano 6th generation cannot syncronize anymore to the PC (I tried with three different PC with latest iTunes installed) and as soon as I connect it to the PC the icons on the screen disappear and it shows total blank white sreen. Error 1604
This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, using a different dock connector to USB cable, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections. If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for the error.
    When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
    Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.

Follow the steps listed above for Error 1604. This error may also be resolved by disabling, deactivating, or uninstalling third-party security, antivirus, and firewall software. See steps in this article for details on troubleshooting security software.

  • ITunes crashes as soon as I connect iPhone, Ipad or Ipod Touch

    Hello,
I have submitted this question before, but despite all kind of attempt, my iTunes (latest version) crashes as soon as I connect with a cable
    - iPhone 5 (iOS 8.0)
    - iPad
    - iPod touch
It does NOT crush when I connect my Ipod Classic.
What I mean with crush: as soon as I insert the cable in the USB port, the name of the divice appears, it then looks as if is synching but after a couple of second the "spinning wheel" blocks and then there is no other way than forcing quit.
It is not the cable, because all devices can be used with iPhoto with the same cable.
    I have reinstalled OS X
    I have rebooted the iPhone
all the devices work normally on my old mac (which doesn't have OS X) and on PC.
Windows Parallel is installed on my macbook pro. Could this be the problem?
It seems that despite all recent updates, there is no solution to this.
    Anybody with the same problem?
Any idea about how to solve it?
    Thanks

    Hello mimward,
It sounds like Windows can see your devices, but iTunes is not seeing them. I would use the troubleshooting in the following article named:

  • Itunes says "restoring iphone apps" as soon as I connect my phone to the computer after ios 5 update

So I've downloaded ios5. And itunes just gets stuck at "restoring iphone apps".
even if I close itunes (which I can only do with the task mananger) and then reboot it, as soon as I connect the phone it says "restoring iphone apps" again and just gets stuck at that. So I cannot access anything on there.
Doesn't help that I now can't even use my phone at all as it keeps telling me I can't use the e-mail address that I have registered as it's already in use!!!!!
So I now have a phone that I cannot use at all! An I can't restore on itunes because it gets stuck in that loop if I plug it in!

The same happened to me. While it's restoring apps, you will be able to set up your ipod with iOS5. You can do that without disconnecting it from your computer. It will take quite a long time but it will go from restoring ipod apps, to restore music, videos and pictures. Be patient and it will finish the process in a few hours.

  • IPod automatically disconnects itself within 5-10 seconds.

    Hi All,
I've been having some problems connecting my 5th Gen iPod to my new MackBook Pro. The iPod was synced to my old MacBook (I think it was the first black MacBook model) and worked perfectly fine. When I tried connecting it to my Pro for the first time everything went swell until about 500 songs in when the iPod suddenly disconnected (with the error message asking me to eject before disconnecting). I could no longer see it in iTunes and it returned to the state where it's not plugged in and not charging. I reconnected it and tried again and it happened a lot sooner. After trying multiple times, the time it takes for the iPod to automatically disconnect itself is about 5 to 10 seconds.
I've tried multiple cords and have connected the iPod to multiple computers, which leads me to believe that it's a problem with the iPod and not the computer or the cord. I've restarted the computers, restarted the iPod, attempted to restore the iPod (but it doesn't last long enough in the dock for it to work) and played around with the disk mode setting in iTunes. The only thing I have running when I attempt to connect is iTunes. Also, I was able to synced my iPhone to iTunes with no problem at all.
    Any suggestions? Thanks!

You get 90 days of free phone support after that there is a charge.
From your description your iPod may have developed a hardware problem and need to be fixed. If you bought it it August it is still under warranty so repair would be covered.
You could try some troubleshooting suggestions.
Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings to see if that helps.
Turn your iPod off and restart it (press on/off button for 5 seconds or so until power off indicator appears).
Reset your iPod (press on/off button and home button simultaneously for 10 seconds or so until the Apple logo appears).
If none of this helps you can try doing a restore on your iPod (make sure you have a backup). See iTunes to do this.
    Good luck.

  • HT201210 why does it say my ipod is disconnected and because of this it wont let me backup or download my music

why doesnt my ipod connect to the computer? it keeps saying that my ipod is disconnected so i cant download my music or updates and ive tried everything help would be nice thanks

    - Reboot the computer
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Make sure you are connecting directly to the computer. Not through an extension cable or hub
    - Try another USB port.
    - Try another cable.- Lod at the dock connector in the iPOd. Look for corroded or bent contacts and other abnormalites
    - Try another computer. If problem still occurs then you likely have hardware problem with the IPod and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Aple store is in order.

  • Bought a new Ipod touch and the WiFi does not connect.  Tried Reset and total Restore, does not connect to Router on DHCP, tried Static manually and still can not get it to connect even though it registers as connected.

Bought a new Ipod touch and the WiFi does not connect.  Tried Reset and total Restore, does not connect to Router on DHCP, tried Static IP, Subnet, Router and DNS manually and still can not get it to connect even though it registers as connected.  Using Airport for router, latest firmware, no problems with Iphone 4 or Macbook Pro or any other internet devices.  After total Restore (factory settings) tried again, showed connected to router, but does not display "check" next to router but little rotating icon even though the wifi range signal shows connected at full strength and it says it is connected.  Just can't seem to get it to generate an IP.  Any solutions other than turning it on and off again?  Not a Merry Christmas morning.

Ok, so, a couple of things:  Denisefromwaleska and I have the exact same size/type/color iPod.  Now wishing I'd bought the black one maybe...
Second, Airport is an Express and I have a second one that I carry with me when I travel.  Tried to connect my Airport Express to the internet and could not although the iPod did recognize the router and tried to connect to the internet for some time, unlike my previous problem.  Updated firmware on my travel router, still could not connect to the internet.  Going to try to set up a manual Static IP on the travel router here in a few and conect through it although I predict the problem will persist. Back on the Christmas Present Airport Express router, it is back in play and working fine for all devices save the iPod.
Thanks again for all your help, hopefully I can get a solution in place soon,

  • IPod 80 GB Classic will no longer connect to computer

All these problems started yesterday afternoon. Earlier that morning, I had synched my iPod with a few new songs without any problems. Then, I wanted to add more that night and all of a sudden, the problems began. My iPod will no longer stay connected to my computer properly. It will connect and will show up on my computer and I can access my files on it for a few seconds before I get an error message saying that the device is no longer plugged in or readable. Then, the iPod icon will disappear, iTunes won't recognize that it is plugged in, yet on my iPod screen it shows that it is connected. I tried to find help on Apple's site but none of their solutions helped and they wanted $30 to assist me, which I think is a little odd.
Is there any way to try to fix my iPod? I would like to sync new songs to it but again, with the problems it won't let me. The only other solution is to try to restore my iPod but it will erase all the songs on it and I don't have backups of them on my computer so once they are gone, they are gone. It would take a long time to get them all back and I can't use a program to rip them off my iPod because, again, it won't stay connected long enough and some of the songs I have are very rare to get ahold of.
I've gone through many steps to try to fix it. I've uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it. I've gone through so many help threads on the support section of the the Apple page and nothing helped. I haven't tried a restore yet because I don't want to lose all my songs. Any ideas as to what is happening? I can't have a warranty repair because I got it as a gift over two years ago.

Read this Apple Support Article on Restoring iPod.
    It is on step 6.
Restore would reformat your iPod Hardisk, if it is still in good condition, but some iPod Hardisk may be damage, due to abuse and misuse, so the Restore would fail.
For a successful Restore, I would also suggest that
    Disconnect all other USB devices
    Use the USB2.0 port
Do not use any USB Hub.

  • Itouch crashes windows as soon as I connect!!!!

    Hi Guys,
Hoping somebody can help me. Had my itouch for 8 months, and never had a problem until this weekend. For some reason as soon as I connect my itouch to my laptop with the USB my laptop crashes. For a split second it says it has connected to a still digital camera but then everything crashes and the laptop reboots from a blue screen! My itunes is up to date as is the itouch. Only thing I have downloaded recently is Apps store but was working fine. This is annoying me beyond beleif as I cant put stuff on the itouch. Anybody got any ideas?
    Thanks

I have same problem. Here's what I do not understand. One person had no problem for 8 months.
Then suddenly.... Me -no problem for 2 weeks. Another person 2 months no problem for 2 months then ....
App note says outdated be web cam drivers. I deleted all web cam drivers...it still reboots my computer or crashes it depending how you look at it.
The guy with no problemm for 8 months-then all of a sudden web cam drivers are outdated?
How am I suppossed to delete pictures from Ipod when I can not even get the thng to synch or get to screen that allows you to synch? Then does that mean I cannot have pictures on Ipd anymore?
Clearly-what was never was a problem has become a problem. I have not added any Windows software other than itunes.
So-if no answers forth coming from Apple-I will return my 475 dollars worth of I touch. Called help; reinstall everything blah blah blah- have done that still have problem.
I'm (If you hadn't already guessed) unhappy. Apple has to do better than this. As much as I dislike Windoze-this learly seems to me to be an Apple problem.
