IPOd is frozen after screen lock.

Alright I'm having a bit of a problem, and the trouble shooting and tips I read on the support/ipod page didn't help. I put my iPod on a screen lock with the password. The next time I tried to use it I knew I would have to put the password in,but it wouldnt let me. It seemed to be frozen, but then finally a page showed up showing a file and and exclmation point, and an iPod with a sad face with http://apple.com/support/iPod I went there and followed the steps, but my iPOd has yet to work..can someone please help me?!!Thanks

  • My iphone 4 turns off automatically after screen lock

    Hello guys,
my iphone 4 turns off automatically after screen lock, i have to press the POWER + HOME button during 10 secondes for reboot.
And it's like that every time i lock the screen.
Please can someone help me ?
    thanks.

Standard troubleshooting steps are reset, restore, restore as new.
Since resetting isn't working, try backing up and restoring through iTunes.

Your phone "ain't response" to your button pressing?

  • Ask for password after screen lock not working!?

Ask for password after screen lock not working? It used to work before mavericks, each time my computer display sleep I'm asked for the password immediately. Now it never asks for it?

    From 2008 MacRumors discussion:
SOLUTION: Browse to Home>Library>Preferences and drag com.apple.systempreferences.plist to the desktop.
Caused by a corrupt user preferences file. On restart, you may find user settings have defaulted. Set up as desired.
    Worked for me.

  • Help my ipod still has the screen lock on and the combo wont work

I was just testing the screen lock thing to see if it would work so i set it to my birthday and then i test it out and it wont work my combo i tired every combo so it said if u forget combo plugg it into ur computer . i plugged it in and now what? i unplugged it and its still locked . wat should i do ?

Plugging the iPod in to the computer only unlocks it until the next time you opt to lock the screen. It does not get rid of the old code that you no longer know.
The only way to get rid of the older code and be able to set a new one if desired is to restore the iPod.
To restore, connect the iPod to the computer, open the iPod updater (Start>All Programs>iPod>iPod Updater) and click restore.
Restoring will delete all the files off of your Nano, and reset all settings, including the screen lock. It will not however, change anything in your iTunes library, so after completion, simply update your iPod as normal to get your songs back on.
Then, you are free to set a new screen lock. Hopefully this time it will be one you remember.

  • Why do I have to sign in after screen lock and/or sleep?

I use Skype, YIM, Facebook, etc., and I want to stay signed in all the time. Whenever my ipod is awakened from sleep or brought out of screen lock, everything is signed out and has to sign back in. I miss calls and messages this way. I appreciate the screen lock and wish to keep it operating, so how can I keep everything signed in after the screen locks?

You need to change the settings in each app. I don't use YIM, but Skype and Facebook I do use.
Under Settings >> Skype, make sure "Sign In Automatically" is on, "Go Offline" is set to never, and notifications are active. The "Don't Auto-Lock" only applies to calls made.
Under Settings >> Facebook, tap "Push Notifications" and make sure the notifications you want to be notified about are set to "On".
Under Settings >> Notifications, make sure they are on, and the types of alerts are on (Badges, Alerts, and/or Sounds).
Under Settings >> General >> Auto-Lock, make sure it is set to "Never".
For some reason, there are a couple of things that still won't happen correctly: Facebook will place a badge for activity, but it still tends to take minutes (or may NEVER) update your page to show you what occurred (I often get Notifications on wall posts that never show in the notification tray). Skype WON'T notify you of a call unless you are actively on the iPod, but you can receive messages, so I would tell whoever calls you to message you first to make sure you are actively able to receive the call (since any chat messages will alert you).

  • IPod touch frozen on screen showing apple symbol and usb cable.

Pod touch frozen on screen showing apple symbol and usb cable. Happened during a update attempt.

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely.  Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

  • Wifi turns off after screen lock  macbook mid 2010, mountain lion

I want my wifi to be turned on permanently, when macbook is on.
However, when I lock screen or it is locked after period of inactivity, wifi turns off.
Are  there any settings, any config files, any system tools which could be used to tell my MB 2010 not to turn my wifi off.

I think I may have found a solution. I feel like a fool for not thinking of it earlier.
System Preferences > Energy Saver > Power Adapter > Computer Sleep > Never
This worked overnight, even with the screen locked.
Obviously, you could do the same for the Battery version of the panel.
    Hope this helps.

  • IPod touch connecting after password lock

I kinda forgot my password, tried a few too many times and yeah.... Connected it to the computer, loaded up itunes and itunes says "iTunes could not connec to the ipod "Ipod name" because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the ipod before it can be used with itunes."
Any help? :/ this is the original computer.

Only a restore "as new ipod" will help, see this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212
If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device on the computer that was used to originally sync the iPhone or iPod touch so that you can reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced to the iPhone or iPod touch, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode but your data will not be present. Refer to "Updating and restoring iPhone and iPod touch software. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414"

  • ``Ipod Touch FROZEN after one day!!

Hi, I got the Ipod touch 16gb and used it once, now it appears to be frozen. It starts up with the white apple logo with backgrounds and then goes to a screen with the USB cable and an arrow pointing to a music CD from here it stays and eventually turns itself off?
    Please someone Help Me??

Did you take your iPod Touch back to the store? I am having the same exact problem with mine as well. All works fine and then the touch screen will freeze but the buttons will work. A reset only fixes the issue for a very short time and I have done a couple complete resets of the device.
I may have narrowed the issue down some though. The iPod seems to work until email, calendar, or contact syncing is setup either through iTunes or directly on the Touch itself. It is not any of my apps I've gotten through the store because I tested it out with all my apps loaded and it worked great until I tried to sync email, calendar, and contacts. I even tried syncing just Calendar alone to see if it was one of the other two and the screen started to freeze after syncing the calendar two different methods. The only way to get it back to working correctly that I have found so far is to completely reset and wipe the device and set it up from scratch again. Deleting the data and the sync settings do not work.
Were you able to get some sort of resolution for this yet? I got my Touch as soon as the App Store was released so I could ditch my old Palm and still have my Contacts, Calendar, and the couple key apps I needed. A hard reset from scratch is definitely not a good solution for this. I started experiencing this problem before the recent v2.0.1 upgrade came out and was hoping the update would fix it but it did not. This is frustrating.

  • IPod stays "frozen" after conversion to Windows

My sister recently acquired a second-hand, 1st Gen 10GB iPod that was originally formatted for Mac. She owns an XP box, and will need to use the iPod with that computer. I've followed the instructions for formatting the iPod for Windows, and after doing the Restore, the iPod is no longer useable. It's frozen with the Apple logo on the screen. Nothing else happens, and this is the case whether or not the iPod is tethered to the machine.
All I can do to bring it back to life is plug it into my Mac Mini and reformat it for Mac. It seems to work OK then, but once I hook it back up to the Windows box and do the Restore, it's gone again.
    Any suggestions?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPod totally frozen, black screen.

I just bought the new iPod touch 3rd gen and brought it home and plugged it into iTunes.
I began downloading the update to 3.1.3 and after it had finished downloading the iPod got "Alert Message 6" and my iPod froze, locked up and is now completely unresponsive with a black screen a.k.a Bricked.
I tried holding both the button apart and together and had no response.
If I plug it into my computer I get a "USB Device not recognized" Message and the iPod remains black screened.

Just posting this again, went back to the best buy were I had gotten the iPod and returned it for another one, this one has worked fine until I realized today that I hadn't installed the update to 3.1.3.
I installed this update and afterwards I got the same error, #6 I think, and now again after trying to update it on a second iPod months later, it has crashed and is now completely useless yet again.
When I plug it into my computer, I get an error telling me that the USB device is not recognized and iTunes does not register it either.
Other then never updating my iPod again, I need some help because I do not feel like continuing this vicious circle.

  • U2 Ipod Photo frozen after incomplete restore

I wanted to connect my ipod to a new PC. Nothing was wrong with mz iPod before I tried to connect it with mz new PC!
I loaded new iTunes 7.0 and after connecting my ipod it asked if I would like to restore the ipod , that was fine with me since all my audio files are also on my new PC
After the restore process the program asked me to complete the process disconnecting from the PC and connecting to a wall socket.
It did not get past the language selection! It just FROZE.
Now it is alreadz a day on the english menu item but I cannot select it !
I just did a reset but the same screen freeze comes back on !!My PC and iTunes do not recognise the iPod anymore...
How can I proceed ? The Apple advices always assume that iTunes recognises the iPod but what if it does NOT?

Have you tried resetting the iPod? For info, see here: How to reset your iPod
It may take quite a few tries, and this is best done when connected to power.
Also, if nothing else seems to help, this method has proven to have sucess:
Connect your iPod to your USB port for a few seconds, then promptly disconnect it (without resetting or ejecting it).
Do this with your iPod with a AC adaptor, a carcharger, etc.
This could possibly work to sucessfully break the iPod out of its frozen mode if no other attempts are working.

  • Ipod classic frozen after sync since I updated ipod software 1.02

I have an iPod Classic 80G and iTunes 7.4.2(4) installed in my Macbook Pro, had about 12G music in my iTune, everything worked fine, untill yesterday I added some more songs (about 2G), when I tried to sync, iTune asked me to update iPod Classic software 1.02, I did and after sync, my iPod frozen (only apple logo on screen). I tried all 5 Rs, and even erased the drive with Disk Utility, after restore, I can copy songs from iTunes while using it as a disk, the ipod works fine, but the iPod crashs everytime finished sync. This morning I tried to sync with my girlfriend's Mac mini (she has about 8G music in her iTunes), it works no problem at all. So I am thinking the problem is with my iTunes - any help please?
p.s My last attemp was deleting the ipoddriver.kext from extensions libary, still didn't work.

The iPod classic not bring recognized is unrelated to iTunes Match. You should post this problem to either the iPod Classic forum https://discussions.apple.com/community/ipod/ipod_classic or the iTunes for Windows forum https://discussions.apple.com/community/itunes/itunes_for_windows. Probably the former.
FYI it is only iOS devices that cannot be synced via USB with iTunes Match enabled.
