IPOD      is frozen screen shows apple icon only

hold down home button and powerbutton until apple logo appears. this will reset it. If not, turn off the iPod, hold the home button and plug into computer via USB while still holding the home button, only release it once iTunes detects it.

  • Frozen screen w/ apple icon and empty scroll bar

i have a frozen screen w/ apple icon and empty scroll bar on my iPhone 3GS. reset? if so and follow instructions under restart iPhone, will i loose photos, etc when i reset? help!

I don't know if by "scroll bar" you mean when you press the power button down it doesn't offer a shut down option...
    Anyway
Try holding the power button until the "slide to power off" comes up. Don't slide it. Hold down the home button for about 5 seconds. It will force quit and hopefully work again. Hope it helps

  • Ipod frozen on the apple icon

Help! My ipod is frozen on the apple icon and nothing works. It isn't recognized by iTunes, Windows Explorer, my charger, or my dock. I'm able to reset the ipod, but it freezes on the apple icon every time.

Im having this same problem, I was told by a friend to restart it just as you did, same thing happened. I have held it down the restart keys for over 30 secs.. still nothing. I am going to try to charge it on another computer just to rule out some things. My best bet is that it may be completely dead, and the failure to load up completely is due to the ipod wanting to be fully charged or something dumb like that. If you keep it plugged into whatever it is ( Wall socket, computer, etc.) for over a day or so and its not working then I have no clue on how to resolve this issue, and theres about a billion threads on the forums so hopefully someone will post here instead of one of us having to go 80 pages back to find something like this.
Best of luck to you fixing this and I hope it works soon.

  • IPod touch frozen on screen showing apple symbol and usb cable.

Pod touch frozen on screen showing apple symbol and usb cable. Happened during a update attempt.

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely.  Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

  • My daughters ipod will not turn off and it is frozen on the apple icon screen. Tried to update software, didn't work. Tried to restore, didn't work. Anybody know what to do next?

My daughters ipod touch will not turn off and is frozen on the Apple icon screen. Tried to update software, didn't work. Tried to restore, didn't work. Does anybody know what else to try?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • MacBook pro will not boot. I get the gray screen, an apple icon and spinning wheel. Tried to start in safe mode but get the same screen. The only thing different was that I loaded the zedge sync app yesterday. Now getting this problem.

Macbook pro will not boot. I get the gray screen, an apple icon and spinning wheel. I tried to start in safe mode, but get this same screen. The only thing different is that I added the zedge update app to do a sync for adding ringtones to my apple cell phone. How can I get a good boot. I am fairly new to apple computer.

Reset PRAM: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4405 and then try a normal boot.
Run the Startup Manager to select Startup disk:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1310
If those did not work your disk may be sick or dying.  The top priority at this point is to make a backup copy of your data.
Check the health of the disk.  Boot in Recovery Mode (Boot, Command-R).  Run Disk Utility.  Click on the upper left disk icon.  Does the S.M.A.R.T. status say “Verified”?  If not the disk/SSD is unhealthy and needs to be replaced.  Even if it does not show “Verified” you can still attempt a backup.
Click on the icon indented below, usually called “Macintosh HD” and Verify Disk.  If it finishes with a green “OK” message then all is well with the disk.  If it shows errors in red then you have found a problem to address once the system is backed up.  Do not attempt software repairs until you have secured the data.
If the disk will not show up at all in Disk Utility as your ran the tests above then it may be dead or it may have a bad internal SATA cable.  A trip to an Apple store for confirmation would be in order.
If you have an external disk drive you can use as a backup drive then do so.  If not Google “Hitachi USB 3.0 external hard drive 1TB” to purchase one or go to a brick-and-mortar store (including an Apple store) to pickup one.  Any 1 TB external drive will do.
Assuming it is still breathing you can try to recover the data without booting from the sick disk.
Reformat the external disk.  (This will erase all data on the external disk.)
Boot in Recovery Mode.  Start Disk Utility.  Plug in the new disk.  Select it’s disk Icon (the second one down, left justified). Select the Partition tab.
    Partition Layout > Single Partition
Name: Emergency Recovery 1 (or whatever name you wish to use)
    Format: Mac OS Extended (journaled)
    Options… > GUID Partition Table > OK
    Apply
    Select the Restore tab.
Drag the old system volume (Macintosh HD) to Source.
Drag the new disk volume (Emergency Recovery 1) to Destination.
    Click on Restore.
It may take a long time for the backup.
If that will not complete post back for other emergency data recovery methods, including those from a brody.
If the backup succeeds, use the First Aid tab in Disk Utility to select the old volume (Macintosh HD) and Repair Disk.  If it does not finish with a green OK message try to repair it once or twice more.  If it repairs with a green OK message, will it boot normally?  If not, boot from the Recovery Partition and reinstall OS X.
If it is still not healthy, post back for further instructions.

  • 30gb iPod - Frozen Screen displaying Apple Logo, can't reset

Yesterday I downloaded the latest updater for the above iPod. Now the screen of the iPod is frozen on the Apple logo and repeated resets haven't cleared it.
Added to that is the fact that the newly installed Updater doesn't recognise that the iPod is plugged in/mounted, so I can't even restore itto factory settings and start over.
Furthermore, itunes doesn't recognise the ipod anymore, although Windows does. I've downloaded the latest version of iTunes but this hasn't cleared it. I've deleted and reintalled both the original 2005 - 10 - 12 Updater and the newer 2006 - 03 - 23 version and still the ipod isn't recognised and still the apple logo remains and is unresetable (if that's a word!).
So, one simple download and I'm screwed. Any advice would be welcome. Also, I'm now seeing a 'generic volume F:' in a sub-directory of the iPod USB device, in device manager and when I safely remove the pod.
    Thanks in advance.

You said the iPod is "stuck in infinite reboot loop on apple logo screen." Just let that continue until it stops to drain the battery.
You can also make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. The appointment is free

3rd Generation iPod continually shows apple icon, it does not mount and cannot be seen via disk utility - despite being reset, recharged (on dock but doesn't show charge icon just the apple), cables tested/exchanged, battery swapped out with another. It will not switch off at all. I cannot restore the software as it is not recognised. However I can feel it "working", i can feel it reset each time and it gets quite warm. Any suggestions?

  • Iphone 4 keeps scanning then showing apple icon it wont stop. cant get any other screen

can anyone help me im having trouble with iphone 4 it wont stop scanning then showing apple icon. i cant get the phone to do anything else.

Hi, did you ever solve this problem?
My 1 year old -- ha! one month out of warranty -- iPhone 4 has been having a nearly identical problem over the past few days.
It started by dying completely so I had the battery replaced, thinking it was simply battery issue.
It then worked again for a moment but started doing exactly what you describe, going through a reset cycle (longer than 30 seconds but who's counting). And it felt quite warm.
Did hard reset, plugged into wall charger and MBP USB but the new battery wouldn't even get a full charge (a whopping 92% after nearly two days). It would even lose battery when plugged in if I opened an app. And all the while plugged in, if I left the phone on, it would cycle through these resets. So I turned it off to try to charge it.
Now suddenly, it's dead again. Totally black, and hard reset does nothing. Up until two days ago there was nothing wrong whatsoever with this phone! And I hadn't even installed a new app that could be the root of the issue. No idea whatsoever what caused this.
Any help would be much appreciated!!
