Ipod is in test mode?

I was charging my ipod via my computer/usb and whenever I went to get it, on the display screen it is a grey color and says "Accessorize Test" Please Plus USB
LCD ID: 2, FWPWR: 1, USBPWR: 0...
I can't get past this message. I have plugging it into different USB's and no luck. It somehow switched to a computer/test mode.. doesn't look anything like it did before. Help!

You may be in diagnostic mode, restart iPod.

  • HT4235 Itunes only sees ipod nano in disk mode and still won't sync it

I have to place my ipod nano in disk mode for itunes (or Windows for that matter) to find it. In disk mode Windows and Itunes see the ipod and it passes all the diagnostic tests save for the sync test where it can no longer see the ipod and apparently a file is also not found. I'm ready to just reset it, but am unable to make that happen.
This problem began when I downloaded some songs from Amazon and fumbled the job purchasing and downloading some of them twice. Not very smart, but it was late. Anyway, I also downloaded their Cloud player and had it pass the songs to itunes. It was in itunes that I saw the duplicate copies of the songs. Itunes and the cloud player proceeded to butt heads, I deleted the the extra song copies and also uninstalled the Amazon cloud player. Then itunes went into the state I've described above.
    I'd appreciate any help.

  • Stuck in some test mode

I was listening to my ipod, with half the battery life left, when suddenly, it says no battery power remains and it shuts down. I tried to start it up again and accidentally pushed a couple buttons at once. Now it's stuck in some weird test mode that I can't get it out of. Here's what the screen says:
    DISKMODE
    WHEEL
    CONTRAST
    AUDIO
    STATUS
    DRV TEMP
    IRAM TEST
    how do i fix this?

Hold Menu and Select for 6 seconds or more and your iPod should Reset and be fine.

  • Question about iPod 4th Gen Diagnostic Mode

I am having a problem with my iPod. 4th Generation, 40GB Model A1059.
I am interested in what should be the expected results in two of the Diagnostic modes.
    HDD R/W; and
    HDD SCAN
In the Scan test mode, I get a "Pass" message and when I press "play" I go back to the diagnostic mode menu. So I guess this means I passed the HD Scan.
In the R/W test mode, I get a message that reads
    HDD Test
    38 GB
But pressing 'play' nothing happens, and it seems (feels and sounds)like the hard drive is still spinning.
So is the test still underway, or am I finished with the test when I see the "38 GB" message on the display?
I did a search of this site and the internet and really can't figure out what the anticipated result should be. It just won't let me search under "HDD R/W" It seems that the / is some kind of boolean conector that the search engine reads as something other than a ASCII character.
For anyone who may be interested in my problem, here it is:
It used to run forever with the Apple Logo. I put it away and came back to it recently hoping the problem would have magically gone away. Well it hasn't. Now the HDD just 'clicks' It goes something like 1,2,3,"click"... 1,2,3"click" until the file folder with an exclamation pint comes up.
Interestingly enough, the 1,2,3,"click"... 1,2,3"click" happens in the HD Scan Mode Test, but when I run the HDD R/W mode test the drive seems to spin freely without the 'click'

Is this the one you mentioned
    Diagnostic mode solution
If you have tried trouble shooting your iPod to no avail after all the steps above, chances are your iPod has a hardware problem. The iPod's built-in Diagnostic Mode is a quick and easy way to determine if you have a "bad" iPod.
You need to restart your iPod before putting it into Diagnostic Mode. Check that your hold switch is off by sliding the switch away from the headphone jack. Toggle it on and off to be safe.
Press and hold the following combination of buttons simultaneously for approximately 10 seconds to reset the iPod.
    iPod 1G to 3G: "Menu" and "Play/Pause"
iPod 4G+ (includes Photo, Nano, Video, and Mini): "Menu" and "Select"
The Apple logo will appear and you should feel the hard drive spinning up. Press and hold the following sequence of buttons:
iPod 1G to 3G: "REW", "FFW" and "Select"
iPod 4G+ (includes Photo, Nano, Video, and Mini): "Back" and "Select"
You will hear an audible chirp sound (3G models and higher) and the Apple logo should appear backwards. You are now in Diagnostic Mode. Navigate the list of tests using "REW" and "FFW". The scroll wheel will not function while in diagnostic mode. For further details on Diagnostic mode can be found at http://www.methodshop.com/mp3/ipodsupport/diagnosticmode/
Try to do the 5in1, HDD R/W and HDD scan tests. Some successful cases have been reported after the running the few tests under the Diagnostic mode. In case it does not work in your case, and the scan tests reports show some errors then it proves your iPod has a hardware problem and it needs a repairing service.

I forgot my password and am trying to reset my ipod, but it won't work.It says that my ipod is in recovery mode and that I must restore it. I click ok, and then click on restore and update. Then it says connecting ipod software update server and a screen pops up with ipod software update on the top and iOS 5.1. It lists a bunch of stuff this update contains and on the bottom it says next, which I click and nothing happens, it just goes back to the ipod restore page. Help, what am I doing wrong?

This device is not eligible for the requested build (Also sometimes displayed as an "error 3194")
Update to the latest version of iTunes. Mac OS X 10.5.8 (Leopard) users may need to download iTunes 10.6.3.
Third-party security software or router security settings can also cause this issue. To resolve this, followTroubleshooting security software issues.
Downgrading to a previous version of iOS is not supported. If you have installed software to performunauthorized modifications to your iOS device, that software may have redirected connections to the update server (gs.apple.com) within the Hosts file. Uninstall the unauthorized modification software from the computer.
Edit out the "gs.apple.com" redirect from your hosts file, and then restart the computer for the host file changes to take affect. For steps to edit the Hosts file and allow iTunes to communicate with the update server, see iTunes: Troubleshooting iTunes Store on your computer, iPhone, iPad, or iPod—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. If you do not uninstall the unauthorized modification software prior to editing the hosts file, that software may automatically modify the hosts file again on restart.
Avoid using an older or modified .ipsw file. Try moving the current .ipsw file (see Advanced Steps > Rename, move, or delete the iOS software file (.ipsw) below for file locations), or try restoring in a new user to ensure that iTunes downloads a new .ipsw.

  • I am a forensic examiner with an iPod 5G in Recovery Mode. As a 'non Apple' person, what does 'restore' imply with reference to the 5G? Does it affect any data on teh iPod, like pics, and videos?

As stated in the title, I am a forensic examiner, although most of my work is on Windows devices. My problem is an iPod 5G with Touch Wheel that I received to exam, and I have not been able to get anything from conventional methods. But not really understanding enough about the Apple architecture and iPods, when I plug it into a computer, it appears to be in Recovery Mode, and calls for a Restore. The questions I have are:
    1) How does the iPod get into Recovery mode
    2) How to get it out of Recovery mode
    3) But more importantly, what does Restore do to the device? If there happen to be items of interest (pics, videos, etc), does the restore affect them?

    - You can place the iPod in recovery mode by:
    Recovery mode
or by using this program (there are others too)
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
    - Many internal errors in the iPod resul in the iPod going automaticlly (default) into recovery mode.
    - Usual method is to restore the iPod via iTunes to get the iPod our of recovery mode.
iTunes: Backing up, updating, and restoring iOS software
Sometime RecBoot will do it if the iPod was intentionally placed in recovery mode
    - Unless RecBoot or similar will get the iPod put of recovery mode the iPod will be erased. Restoring the iPod erases the iPod.

The button on my Ipod Touch (the big one just below the screen) will not work when I press it. Nothing happens, when before it would wake my IPod out of sleep mode, and exit out of programs I was using (ex. ITunes or Safari to main screen) . Now, no reactions. When I press the button, it appears to be more indented then it was before. What should I do? Do I need to get it fixed or replaced, or is this a problem I can fix on my own? • How do I take my iPod out of "Recovery Mode" without restoring to factory settings?

    (iPod 4th Gen, Windows 7)
I hadn't synced my iPod touch for a long time, because just before Christmas, my antivirus stopped working on my laptop, and I got a virus. I was unable to do anything. Because of my circumstances, I wasn't able to get my computer back to normal until just about a week ago. During the time I didn't have access to my computer, I made a lot of purchases in the iTunes app.
Now that I have access to my computer again, I tried to sync my iPod. Since it had been a while, I needed to update it. Something must have happened during the update, but I don't know what. All I know is that now my iPod will only show the "Connect to iTunes" screen (so I can't use it at all), and when I connect to iTunes, it says my iPod is in "Recovery Mode." My purchases were not synced to my computer.
iTunes says to restore it, but I don't want to do that because I would lose all of the purchases I've made since Christmas. They weren't synced, so they would be wiped if I restored it, and only what is on my laptop would be re-synced.
Bottom line: is there a way to get my iPod to work again, without restoring it to factory settings? If not, then I spent all of that money in iTunes, and now what? I'm supposed to buy it again?
Thanks for taking the time to read this; I know it's long. I just wanted to make sure all of the details were there, because I've scoured the internet, and no one has a solution for this, other than wiping the slate clean, downloading a program from who-knows-where, with who-knows-what viruses attached to it, or jailbreaking. And those are not options.

Yu can try to use this program to get the iPOd out of recovery mode.

  • Ipod suddenly in recovery mode, No Itunes

    Hi guys
I´m traveling throughout South America, Currently in Argentina.
Today my Ipod touch´s battery drained, but unlike previous times, when i connected the charger, the itunes shows the Connect to Ites logo.
I'm on the road, using Internet Cafe and Hostels's computers, don't have the option of intalling Itunes.
Is there any way of getting my Ipod back in working mode, even without restoring my music, just atleast get WiFi, or m i stuck like this untill i can get my hands on Itunes and enough times to restore it.
    Thanks,
    Carmel

It's crazy that you still received notifications. Just had a similar thing today: I entered an event in the Calender, set it down, and when I picked it up 2 seconds later to check one more thing it wouldn't turn on.
Held both buttons to reset and it wanted iTunes. That's a mighty hard crash. Not confidence inspiring.
(Works now after a restore, but I only sync every few days and I lost quite a bit of data.)
I wonder if there is/was a way out of this bizarre state without restoring.
