Ipod is not recognized and is stuck on apple black screen.

So here's the story:
I have a 30Gb ipod.A few days ago it ran out of battery.and now ive been trying to charge it on my computer but it gets stuck on the black screen with the apple in it and keeps making some weird "start up" sounds all the time.I've tried resetting, reinstalling iTunes and a lot of other guides that ive been searching throughout the internet.I've ran out of options so I'd like to know if anyone could help.
Issues: 1-Ipod is stuck on black screen and doesnt charge
2-Ipod is not recognized by either windows or Itunes
3-When i try to put him and bring it back from disk mode it keeps the same.
I think that's all.any questions anyone might have please post it here.Don't suggest to try and make him run out of batteries cuz it doesnt stay on for long.It stays on the black screen and then shuts off.any help/hint/suggestion that doesn't involve buying a new one is appreciated :/
Thanks in advance.

  • Ipod is not recognized, and doesn't show up in my computer services. Why? And how can I fix this issue?

My ipod is not recognized on my windows 7 anymore. Drivers are up to date and working properly, everything on my computer is fine, it's just my Ipod. It does not show up in my "Services". It's not my computer, because it doesn't work on any other computers either. I do not know what to do, and I really need help please.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Try another cable
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

You need to post this in the ipod forum.

  • Ipod touch not recognized and will NOT reset, therefore none of the "regular" solutions apply.  The apple logo comes up, it boots to "connect to itunes" then stays there forever.  Unintallling reinstalling itunes components also failed.

I have tried all the regular solutions so please don't clog up the post with those suggestions.  This  problem has been presented many times in many different ways and NEVER solved.  I bought the Ipod touch 3g on ebay so it may have been jailbroken or attempts made in that regard.  What I want to know is:
IS THERE A HARDWARE PROBLEM THAT CAUSES THIS SYMPTOM, because I always hear the line "ipod firmware is indestructable" even if jailbreakers have messed with it.  I believe the only logical choices here are either ONE: the firmware on the ipod touch CAN be altered to make it inoperable, or TWO: There is a specific hardware malfunction that results in this symptom.    It would be nice if someone knows for sure one way or the other.  I am too far from a dealer to plug it in for analysis.  I am in Cedar Rapids Iowa and to my knowledge the closest hookup is DesMoines, about 120miles.

Thanks, you brought up an interesting subject---exactly WHAT happens when the battery is completely drained?  And what's the best way to drain it?  Do you usually HAVE to do a restore after a dead batt?  If so, maybe this is the solution. because it seems to think it has booted properly, and yet it won't continue past "connect to Itunes screen, then it soon goes into hybertation and power save just like normal.   Is ALL memory taken out of the device, like draining a cmos on a desktop,  I have been contemplating draining the bat just like holding in the power button to drain a cmos.  The only other logic that makes sense is the usb interface (as you mentioned, "iPod is not immune to hardware problems")  I bought TWO new cables, to no avail.  MAYBE it is a mechanical connection issue and not a software one, I guess I'll try that too.
edit:  sorry, missed this in your suggestion...as mentioned here, it does NOT stay on, but goes into power save so batt won't drain that way.

  • IPhone 3GS cannot charge and gets stuck at apple logo screen

Hi, I have an iPhone 3GS, and yesterday it ran out of charge.  I plugged it into my wall socket as normal, but all I got was the black screen with the apple logo, which disappeared after about 15 seconds.  I have tried to hold down the home and on/off key together; to try and restore it, but nothing happened.  I have tried to plug into my computer and open in iTunes, but iTunes does not find it.  The only thing it appears to do when it is plugged into anything, is show the apple logo on the screen and then switch off after about 15 seconds.  Anyone go any suggestions what I might be able to do?  Thank-You (PS I am not technically minded so no techno speak would be appreciated)

But it was working perfectly well until yesterday.
Everything works until the day it breaks...  Most electronics that fail don't give any warning.
I like the 3GS, so would like to be able to repair it, if I can?

  • HELP! my ipod will NOT restore and is stuck in disk mode....

My ipod told me one day that it needed to be restored with itunes so i obliged.

In some cases, the iPod might get into a state in which the battery needs to be drained before it can be reset so try these steps.
    1. Disconnect iPod from all power sources and leave it disconnected for about 24 hours.
    2. Reconnect iPod to the Apple iPod Power Adapter or the computer and reset it.

  • IPhone will not restore and is stuck on low battery screen?

I let my iPhone 3g's battery run flat a few days ago by accident, since then I have not been able to get the phone to recognize it is being charged. I plugged it into my mac and put it in DFU mode (i think), but my iTunes popped up with 'Unknown error, this iPhone can not be restored'. Now when ever I try to get it into DFU or restart it nothing happens except the red flashing no battery sign shows?
    Can someone please help?

  • My ipod wont connect/charge and is stuck on the home screen while trying to update it

i tried to update it not realizing i needed to connect to itunes so it was on the screen to connect to itunes all day during school til i got home and it wouldn't update so i restored it 5 times and then it wont charge/ connect  or restore at all

If there is no passcode on the device, then try making a backup to iTunes.  Once you have the backup (or if it's passcode locked and you can't make a backup), then use iTunes to restore the device to factory settings.  You may have to use Recovery Mode to do so if there's a passcode on the device (alternatively if you have Find My iPhone enabled, you can use icloud.com to remote wipe the device).
Once it's erased, see if you can set it up as new, and test the touch display.  If the touch display is still non-responsive after it's been set up as new, then your device has a hardware failure and needs to be serviced or replaced. If you are still within warranty with Apple, it should be a free replacement.  If not, then expect to pay $199 USD + tax for a replacement.

  • My iphone 4 froze and is stuck on a black screen. I already tried to re-boot it by holding the power and home button at the same time for 10 seconds. When i go to plug it into my comuter to restore it my comuter won't reconise it. Can someone help me?

    Can anyone help?

Same thing happened to me today. I wasn't even using the phone for the past 6 hours and suddenly I can't connect to the internet, none of my internet apps would work - nothing. I tried to call AT&T from the iphone and it locked up - couldn't turn it off, change to the home screen - nada - brick.
Did the Home/Power button thing and that worked but this I've only had this phone for about 4 weeks and it's locked up more times than my 3GS did the whole two years I had it! Ridiculous

    Hello ellenfromelpaso,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
From your post I see that your iPhone is displaying a connect to iTunes screen, and it is not being recognized by iTunes on your PC.  If this is the case, then I'd like you to please follow the first article below for the issue where your iPhone is not being recognized.  Once that issue is resolved, you may then proceed with restoring your iPhone.

  • My ipod is not recognized by my itunes and tells me to uninstall itunes and reinstall. will this erase all of my music?

my ipod is not recognized by my itunes and tells me to uninstall itunes and reinstall it.  will this erase all of my music?

    Hi braddyloopy,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you need to uninstall and reinstall iTunes,  your music files should not be erased or affected in any way. It is always a good idea to back up your data before making any changes to your computer, though.
If you'd like to locate your music, this article explains how to find the files:
Where are my iTunes files located?

When you reinstall iTunes, I'd recommend using the method in this article to make sure it's reinstalled completely:
