The cord might be the case, but first, try these suggestions:
Try putting your iPod into disk mode, then try connecting it to your computer again...

Do you have a wall charger? If so, then try connecting your iPod to that, and does it charge, or not?

Hi, I have an ipod touch. It has been working well along windows 8 all this while until 1 week ago, itunes can no longer detect the ipod touch. Funnily, when I tried connecting it other computers using Windows 7, it could be detected. I have already tried almost everything such as uninstalling and reinstalling itunes, AMDS restart. • IPod touch not recognized by iTunes on Windows

My email is [email protected]  My iPod touch is not showing up at all either in Computer or in iTunes.  I've tried everything...and yes, I mean everything that has been suggested here.  HELP.
All I want to do is basic stuff: sync, download music, etc.

    Did you try everything here:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    Another cable?
    Another USB port?
    Does the iPod work
    Does it charge?
Try with another computer to help determine if you have an iPod or computer problem. Make an appointment at After you went to the Genius Bar of an Apple store what did the Genius say? You said you tried everything that has been discussed here and one action discussed is making an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
Just saying you tried everything provides us with zero information as to what you did try.

  • Ipod is not recognized by iTunes and will not sync

When trying to sync my ipod up with iTunes, it is not recognized as a device by iTunes and cannot be synced up. Any ideas? Thanks.

I had this issue. Basically, iPhoto would recognize my iPod Touch and my wife's iPhone, but iTunes would not. Thus, I knew it was not the USB cable or ports.
In one forum, I tried something and it worked.
In Applications > Utilities > Activity Monitor, I stopped iTunes Helper.
Then I downloaded and reinstalled a fresh copy of iTunes.
Once I restarted iTunes and plugged in my devices, they appeared just like they used to.
    Hope this helps.

  • IPod Touch not recognized by iTunes and not charging when plugged into computer

I plugged in my iPod touch to my Mac computer. My iPod doesn't charge and iTunes isn't recognizing it. I have turned my iPod on/off, I have reset it, I have the newest version of iTunes, and I restarted my computer. Nothing has helped. What do I do?

Did it sync to the computer before?
What model iPod do you have and what iOS is installed?
Your post states that your have OSX 10.4.11. If you updated the iOS on your iPod on another computer your computer may not recognize the iPod.  The newer iOS require 10.5.8 or higher.

  • Ipod is not recognized by itunes and I can't fix it

I updated to 1.2 sucessfully by just leaving it plugged into the computer while I took a shower and then when I got out it said sumthing like "your ipod is updating, just leave it plugged in" or whatever, and it finished. I didn't have any problems with that and I had to get off the computer so I did.
Come the next time I get on my computer, I plug in the ipod, open itunes, and it says "itunes cannot read the contents of the ipod "DYLAN'S IPOD". Go to summery tab in ipod preferences and click Restore to restore this iPod to factory settings."
This is really getting on my nerves cause I reset it by unconnecting it from my computer and under the ipod menu, but it still says I have to restore it from the ipod preferences menu. THERE IS NO IPOD PREFERENCE'S MENU ON MY ITUNES(7) OR ON MY COMPUTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PLEASE PLEAS pelase please PLEASE!!!!! help me get my ipod working again. I just want me music back, plz?
Ipod 5th gen and windows xp   Windows XP   30 gig ipod video, got it 4 christmas last year

the same thing happened to me, and no, itunes doesn't recognize it.
ephpod also doesn't recognize it, and neither does ipodwizard. i removed itunes and installed 6.0.5 and that also doesn't recognize it.
i downloaded an older ipod updater exe (from 3-23, before it became integrated into itunes 7) and even that won't recognize it.
i went back to itunes 7, and when i run an itunes diagnostic i get all green lights except the bottom, which means itunes can't tell that it's hooked up.
but i see it in my computer, and the details still say that it has the data on it.
also, when i try to use it normally there are no songs on it. the details say 0 songs, etc, but still says 22gb of space taken.
i'm running windows xp, service pack 2, itunes 7, and am using a 5g 30gb video ipod. the ipod says that it is firmware version 1.2

  • Ipod mini not recognized on Itunes or Windows

I bought my mini in 2005, and I had no problems until last night. I just bought a new song and I plugged my ipod in to update, but it didn't show up. At first Windows recognized it, but then it didn't. My brother has a nano, so I plugged that in to see if it was my computer or my ipod, and Itunes saw it right away. I tried looking at my service options, but when I typed my Serial number in, it said it was not right. I double-checked, and I typed the number in right. What should I do?

  • IPod touch not recognized in iTunes or Windows Explorer

I have a 4th Generation iPod touch that I purchased in March 2011. It has been working perfectly until quite recently when it stopped getting recognized on my computer. It does charge when I plug it in, but it doesn't show up in iTunes or in My Computer. I don't think there's any problem with the cable because I have already tried with a few different ones and they don't work either.
I have tried everything Apple suggests and it still doesn't work. Also, I tried putting the device into Recovery Mode but again, it doesn't show up on the computer. Any suggestions?

  • IPod Classic not recognized by iTunes and PC

My old iPod classic has had minor problems throughout the years from songs cutting out in the middle of a song to battery issues but now my iPod Classic is unrecognized by my pc.
I have tried placeing it into forced diskmode which comes up with the basic "connect to computer" symbol and as soon as I connect my cord my iPod Classic restarts and displays the Apple Logo. I have even tried putting it into disk mode while connected but the same thing happens.
I plan on just leaving the iPod classic connected to my docking station for home listing since it has the battary issues.
If anybody can suggest any ways of fixing this connection problem please help me I am going crazy trying everything with no avail.

Your iPod filesystem is corrupted, so your music and podcastr is in the Others, this is most likely caused by a slow USB connection, which timeout during sync.
    Try the Hard Reset first
After charging till full charge, at least 2 hours (preferably 4 hours)
Toggle the Hold switch, make sure you dont see the red mark when you do the  next step
Reset the iPod -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 secs or till the Apple Logo comes ON
    Then release the buttons
    Select your preferred language.
Here is the Apple support Article on the 5Rs
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/classic/
Then do the iPod Disk Diagnostic, in this earlier post by tt2, it wont fix your problem, but help you decide if your iPod is dying and causing the timeouts.
    Have a nice day!
