IPod is very slow

Since updating, my ipod runs VERY slow... anything i try to go into takes a few seconds to load, scrolling is very slow etc...
what's wrong?

My brand new 60GB iPod takes 20 seconds or more sometimes to start playing a song. Sometimes while it's in one of these pauses, it then skips over the first track and jumps to the second track of an album or a playlist. I'm not having problems with scrolling speed, just when starting to play music.
Once it gets playing it seems fine as long as I don't skip from track to track. I don't know how it performed without the new firmware, because the minute I took it out of the package and connected it to iTunes, I was prompted to update. Also, I immediately dumped 44GB of music into it, but it seems silly that that would cause this, it's meant to hold up to 60GB (55GB really) of music?

  • Gen 3 iPod Touch - Very slow Wi-Fi

I recently bought an AirPort Extreme. After some difficulty, it seems to be working well with the iMac. But the iPod Touch gets very slow speed. I have very fast cable internet. Speedtest.net shows download speeds from 35 to 45 mbps when the iMac is connected directly to the cable modem or wirelessly via the AirPort.
But when I run the Speedtest.net iPod app on the iPod Touch, I get speeds ranging from 1 mbps to as much as 5 mbps on one occasion. This seems like an awfully wide range when my underlying cable speed is so high.
It does not seem to matter where the iPod is, from right next to the AirPort, to at the other end of the house or even in the basement.
Any ideas why the iPod sometimes gets 5 mbps and other times gets 1 mbps?
    Thanks, Daniel

Go to Mac611.com, tap on 'iPhone-related Sites' scroll down to 'iPhone Network Test' and see what your speeds are on both EDGE and Wi-Fi. What readings are you getting?

  • IPod suddenly very slow.

My ipod touch 4th gen, iOS 6.1.3, is only 2 years old, I have noticed it has gotten considerably slower in the past couple of weeks, is it on its way out? Even though I use it daily it is not even half full, storage wise, and I protect it very well, not even a scratch on it yet. Please someone help?!? Thanks

  • IPod running VERY slow. Question!

Dropped my iPod and now it takes forever to play a song I select. (120gb iPod Classic) -
What could this be? I've dropped it before (I have a case)
And it's like my computer doesn't recognize it anymore, but it says connected.
It takes FOREVER and I end up "End Task" to iTunes and if I go into My Computer. Everything associated with the iPod goes "Not Responding" until I play around with it and everything works, but I am not able to open the iPod, I've waited 5 minutes and nothing happens.
Thanks in advance, I know it may be a confusing explanation.

Looking at the report, the Hardisk need to be replaced, as indicated by the high Start/Stop numbers, due to the many attempts to reboot and read the Hardisk, this is causing it to overheat till 254C, max operational temperature is 50C.
There is no Realloc, as it cant even read any cluster to Reallocate or remap as Bad Cluster.
If it is under warranty, bring it back to Apple Store, you maybe lucky and get a replacement immediately.
Or you can Google for any 3rd  Party iPod Hardisk Repair in your Area, they can do it within an hour, costs about US$100-150 (depending on the HD capacity)
As for doing it yourself, the difficulty is in opening the casing, first timer, has a 90% chance of damaging the casing and also breaking the ribbon cables and connectors.
But you can get brandnew Tosiba Hardisk off eBay for about US$80 or less.
Another suggestion is to swap the HD with a SSD, it is more expensive, but very reliable, durable and uses less power,

  • ICal very slow feature on iPod - Why???

Been having problems with my Palm device (it's old... maybe time to update). I thought since I almost always have my ipod with me that I would sync my iCal and Address book to it. iPod won't do what the Palm will but at least have my current appointments in front of me. Address book works wonderful. It opens fast and has all the contacts I wanted in it.
iCal on the other hand is a disappointment. With or without music playing it seems to take it's old sweet time to open the calendar. Slow, very slow. It is also very slow to open a date on the calendar. And once a date is open I only get the first line or so of an appointment.
Am I doing something wrong with the iPod or is it just slow, slow, slow??? Anyone else using their ipod to keep track of their daily appointments? How is yours working???

    Hey CDN_Jose,
Make sure the iPod touch is plugged directly into a USB2 port on the PC and not into a hub, monitor, or keyboard. Also, disconnect other USB devices except for the keyboard and mouse.

  • My iPod touch is downloading and updating apps very slow more than an hour.

My iPod touch 4th gen 32gb verson 4.3.1 is downloading and updating apps very slow more than an hour. I just got it a day ago and I backed up all my apps music and pictures and videos from iTunes. Few months ago I had an iPod touch but I lost it and it was working fine. Luckily before I lost it i backed up everything to iTunes so now everything that was in my old iPod is now in my new iPod. Anyways, When I first bought it I straight away backed up everything and saw that i had many updates on my apps. I started updating it all at once but even the first one was not loading at all and mty ipod was hanging many times during the updates so i cancelled all the updates. i even tried it on my computer and it was taking forever but my laptop does updating and downloading apps slower than my ipod so that doesnt matter. Even when I download an app on my iPod now its take more that an hour. So i was wondering, is my iPod slow cause I backed up too many things when i just got it . I have about 120 apps 150 plus photos and 70 videos and I backed it up all in one night on the day i got my ipod. So now I'm restoring my iPod and updating it to IOS 5 and see what happens. Hopefully it will be faster then but I still need to know what is main problem of m iPod hanging and slow updating/downloading. Need a reply ASAP. Thanks

Still you can switch it off while syncing.
You can also do a reset (Hold Sleep/Wake and Home buttons about 10 secs or more till Apple logo appears)

Cured the problem! Reinstalled an earlier version of itunes from oldapps.com (version 10) now everything works as it should. I would suggest that if you are experiencing these problems that you do the same. I must say that it is a brave business decision on behalf of apple to effectively lock out all windows 7 users from their products and sales channels and I can only wish them luck in this very shortsighted policy.

  • VERY Slow Respons When Changing Songs on iPod

My work computer is a Windows Vista machine, with Vista, SP 2 installed. I installed iTunes 8.2.0.23 this morning, upgrading from version 8.1.1.10. The new version works well when I play songs stored to the library on my hard drive, but I find that it has a VERY slow response when changing songs that I play from my iPod Touch. At one point, it took 17 seconds to change to the next song in the iPod's library. It changes instantaneously when I play songs from the library stored on my HDD. The iPod Software is version 2.2.1.
    Can someone please offer insight?
Is there a way to download and install iTunes 8.1.1.10? I had no problems with that version.

Even after i reinstalled these apps it is still getting stuck and it is very very slow. Is this what i get after paying so much money for ipod. Is this what i get very poor perfomance.

Periodically double click the home button and close all the apps in the recently used dock. Then power off and then back on the iPod. This frees up memory. The 4G only has 256 MB of memory.
