IPod is whirring and clicking between songs

I have an iPod 160 gb. I received it Dec 25, 2009. I listen to it in the car (connected via a chord built into the car). Lately, when I shut down the car, I can hear the iPod's hard drive shut down. Yesterday evening, I could hear the hard drive whirring and clicking between songs. Otherwise, the hard drive makes no other noises. I should also mention that one of the songs cuts out two seconds into the song and moves immediately onto the next song, but it's working perfectly on my MacBook. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the iPod's hard drive. Thanks in advance!

I've been searching around the message boards and this seems to be a problem for the click wheel model. I've also experienced this problem. I have tried reseting my ipod and ran the latest version of updater <which only gave me the dreaded exclamation point folder>. I'll take it to my nearest apple store <2 hrs away> but I'm sceptical about the experience.

That could be a clear sign of a damaged hard disk.  Can you try and force the iPod into Disk Mode and then connect it to iTunes so you can attempt a restore or even a low level reformat of the iPod's HD/file system.

  • Crossfade doesnt work and glitches between songs with update 7.7

Well, apple has made it again. It seems apple has been very busy with its little iphone toy that It forgot its principal product: computers and software. I am still furious because the last ipod update makes my ipod pause radnomly and now the last Itunes update ***** too. Since this update crossfader doesnt work properly anymore. In fact there´s no crossfade just an annoying gap and glitch between songs. Even if I turn the crossfader off. Why apple? why? You ****** me off already!

We are not Apple we are users like you press power button & menu button hold both down until you see Apple Logo
then wait you will not lose any data also turn you modem off for 30 seconds then after modem has started up

Well, if you have not backed them up, they are gone.
Next time, when you have important material in only one place, back it up.

  • How do I get my 6th generation Ipod to shuffle AND REPEAT all songs in a playlist?

How do I get my 6th generation Ipod to shuffle AND REPEAT all songs in a playlist (continual playing)?

You could get a cable such as this one.
    http://www.cablestogo.com/product.asp?cat_id=1526&sku=35502
It has the dock connector on one end fro connection to the iPod and then two connectors on the other end, one for connecting to the firewire charger you use and the other to connect to the usb port on your computer to sync the iPod. You can sync and charge at the same time.
Alternatively, you could explore the possibility of installing a high speed card to your computer such as this one.

I'm not saying that is the one you need (I know nothing at all about your particular computer), I'm just using this as an example of what I mean.

  • New Problems with IPod nano - crackle and clicking

    Hi,
I got the IPod nano (2GB) a view weeks ago. I haven't changed anything - only copied mp3 songs and photos on it.
Today suddenly during jogging the nano starts to crackle and click - like an old analog tape. This didn't stop any more even after a lot of resets. I have connected my IPod with USB-2 onto my computer and recharged the accu completely. After disconnecting properly the problem is still the same. Also the buttons and the wheel don't work correctly anymore. Has anybody similar experiences? It seems apple has big trouble and problems with this new product. Maybe the IPod nano isn't fully well-engineered jet.
I am looking forward for your help and suggestions.
    Thanks in advance!
    Your Stephan

    Hi Mike,
and what did you do finally?
Did you bring the Ipod back to
    your dealer for an exchange?
My IPod didn't get wet during
jogging I have carefully kept an
    eye on it.
Is this a general problem with the IPod
    or only with some units?
    Thanks
    Stephan

  • Ipod classic freezing and mixing up songs

Ok i need help. When i play songs on my 160gb ipod classic its mixing them up for example of i was listening to a westlife song a one direction may play yet its coming up the westlife song name :/. Half my songs are not playing also i go to click on it and it wont play or it will play for 10 seconds and jump to a different song. And it freezes while syncing an5d sometimes when im listening to songs

Your iPod seems to have data corruption.  You should probably do a Restore on the iPod using iTunes.  This will erase the iPod, reinstall its software, and set it to default settings.  Hopefully, all the songs on the iPod are in your iTunes library...
Restoring iPod to factory settings - Apple Support
After the Restore, set up automatic syncing to sync your iTunes music library to the iPod again, and it should be back to normal.

  • Clicking Between Songs: Norm

Ever since i have owned my Zen Touch I have noticed that the player click when play new tracks, albums or playlist, or when I just search for the right song?
Is this normal, its not the sound it makes when browsing it is a soft mechanical noise.
I have always thought of it to be just a normal thing, and that the Hard Dri've is simply moving around and searching.
Does anyone else have the same experience and if not should I send it in?

Yeah, some times you hear the hard dri've click. As long as it's playing music and working properly, it should be ok. Kinda sounds to me like a CD player starting up. It's a spinning disk, that's all.Message Edited by TridentCQB on 02-8-2005 05:45 AM

  • My iPod just flashes and clicks, like it's having a seizure

    Hello;
I plugged my 5G ipod into my MacBook today to update it, and nothing. The screen would not turn on, I couldn't get a response from it and cannot reset it. Now the screen is flashing in time with a clicking noise that emminates from within. It actually sounds like it's broken inside or something, but I haven't dropped it or anything. Anyone seen this before?

    did you upgrade itunes?
and you say u DIDNT upgrade your ipod?

  • How do I get rid of audio pops and clicks between clips in Final Cut Pro X?

Is there a layman, non-professional way to do this? These are just video files... i don't know anything about formats of different files and all that, but i read in other posts that the files should be "uncompressed 48k something something", but i dont even know how to convert the audio(From video) that's already on my timeline to this format

Your clicks probably are related to the fact that you are using the whole clip, leaving no "handles". Handles are extra portions of a clip, before and after the portion you use in your timeline.
The clicks are probably caused by the camera. You are using whole clips (that is why you get the warning when trying Cmd-T, "there is no extra media..."), so you are starting and ending right where the camera did.
If possible, trim a little bit at the end and start of each clip. Select just the edge of the clip (not the whole clip) and drag a little bit to shorten it. Just a few frames might be enough.
For the future, you should remember to let the camera capture a little more than you will actually use - so that you can have those "handles". See the picture.

  • Apple TV Issues - waking from sleep and hicup between songs

I have three Apple TVs that I have positioned throughout my house associated with different stereos that I use exclusively to play music from my iPad Air 2 or iPhone 5s. For months now I've endured issues where they won't easily wake. this problem seems to change.  Sometimes I'll be able to wake from the iPad; sometimes I have to use the silver remote.  When I do waken them and get to enjoy music, the transistion from one song to the next hiccups.  I noticed that there are things that will occasionally cause the music to abruptly stop.  Examples are touching the home button or move from iTunes to a music service such as Spotify.  I'm beginning to conclude this is a combination of IOS8 issues but also network issues aggravating it.  I'm interested in learning what others know about this.  There are lots of discussions on the subject already but I started this one because of the waking issue and the hicup and wondering if anyone out there has no issues what so ever with AirPlay through Apple tv.  Thanks!

still no joy, did a reinstall of the OS and its still intermittently not waking once i close the lid and the hard drive stops.
The next thing to do is to get apple to have a look at it. very annoying as I have only had it since 28th Dec but nothing else I can do. Pc world will have it in to fix rather than replace so to be honest I'd rather Apple had a look than some monkey boy with fat clumsy fingers on a YTS scheme lol

  • What do I do if the little remote on my headphones stops letting me pause and switch between songs. Also it's been making my music sound glitchy.

Recently my headphone remote control just stopped working. It won't let me pause my music or skip music while its in shuffle. Not only that but now it's making my sound super glitchy. And in order to hear music at a normal sound the volume has to be turned up to full sound. Help! Any ideas what's wrong? Also isn't there an automatic warranty on them from when I buy my iPhone?

Hi - there is a 1 year warranty on the iPhone 4s and its' accessories - go to this link - http://www.apple.com/support/contact/
