Ipod isn't playing songs!!

my friend and i tried to trade libraries by hooking one ipod up to the other's computer and copying all the songs into a hidden folder under ipod control. now all of my songs won't play and neither will hers. I try to play one song and it goes through all the songs without playing any of them. I can play them on my library, but not on my ipod. Please Help!!!

What you and your friend were trying to do is illegal. iTunes doesn't allow this. I guess you were trying to work around iTunes by copying your music with Windows Explorer? This won't work either. Sorry. I recommend you delete all your friends music and load only the music that you've obtained legally and you use iTunes to do it.
Cheers!

  • Why does my ipod touch stop playing songs when i click to play, it plays for a few seconds sometimes longer and then goes onto the next song. Help!

Please help,my ipod touch stops playing songs sometimes a few seconds in and then other times halfway. It cant be the song because different songs do it each time. Ive tried to restore it and it makes no difference :(
Please help as this problem gets very annoying. Thanks!

Did you restore to factory defaults/new iPod and sync stuff to your iPod?  If you restore from backup there may be some corruption that is now in the backup.

  • MY IPOD SKIPS WHEN PLAYING SONGS

MY IPOD SKIPS WHEN PLAYING SONGS AND THE SOUND GOES IN AND OUT. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Is the Battery level is low?
The harddisk might be dying, run the disk diagnostic, the procedure is
    http://www.methodshop.com/gadgets/ipodsupport/diagnosticmode/index.shtml
if it is too technical for you, but it does gives you the condition of your harddisk.
What's happening is that some songs are on bad cluster, which need to be moved or reallocate to good cluster.
To fix it in Windows simply run
    chkdsk drive: /R /F
where drive: is the iPod drive ID. D: or E:
in Mac run Diskutilty -> FirstAid -> repair.
    Good luck!

  • IPod will only play songs from one album

Help! I downloaded an album onto my iPod, and now my iPod will only play songs from that album. When I go to select songs from another album, my iPod skips over them like it is searching for something.

  • IPod Won't Play Songs, Videos Reset it, and it's Quite Sluggish

I have a 30GB video iPod (the old version). Everything was working fine until a few days ago, when the power on my iPod ran out because I fell asleep while listening to it. The next day when I turned it on, it said "Connect to your Computer, Use iTunes to restore" So I promptly did that, and it worked fine until I tried to play a video on it. It showed a blank screen, so I reset it by pressing the Menu and Center buttons. Then it showed the "Connect to your computer" screen again. So I restored it, and it would be fine until it locked up again and showed the "Connect to your computer screen" again. I left it alone for about eight hours, and when I tried turning it back on again, it was back to normal.I've seen that screen probably 10 times in the past 4 days, and I've restored it, just as many times.
Here's the list of problems I'm having:
    - the iPod won't play some songs when I click on them. It will show the Playing triangle in the upper left corner, but I hear no sound and the seeking bar doesn't move. I'll often have to click the Pause button, then hit it again to Play it, and then it will play the song.
    - The iPod is extremely slow. When dealing with songs or videos, it often takes a minute or more for the iPod to respond to my button clicks. Its hard drive isn't full, though; in fact I'm only using about 2 GB.
    - Videos lock up the iPod. Just about any time I want to play I video on it, it will show a blank screen and won't respond. Then I have to reset it and I get the "Connect to your computer" screen again. These aren't videos in the wrong format or anything, these are the same videos I've been playing on my iPod before with no problems, until recently.
    - Battery life is horrible. Although it hasn't been fully drained yet, judging from the power meter and how long I've been using it after it's fully charged, I'd guess it would only last about 2-3 hours. I would think it should last considerably longer, as the iPod is only about 3 months old.
Has anybody been experiencing similar problems, or know what I can do to fix it?

I've still had the same problems, but now when I try and turn on my ipod, it tells me to restore. When I do go to restore, itunes says that it cannot find the file needed to restore my ipod. The ipod itself also tried resetting itself, I guess, made it to the menu that asked what language I wanted it in, and then restarted again. This went on for an hour and a half, and I could't do anything. Is my ipod a lost cause?

  • IPod won't play songs that were lost on my PC from drive crash

In January my hard drive crashed (Win2000) and I lost all the music on my PC. NO big deal, replaced the hard drive and restored my CD's, figured I could just play my purchased music from my iPod.
the problem is that SOME (not all) of my purchased music now won't play on my iPod even though the songs are physically there ... this started after iTunes 6 came out ... but different songs seem to play on different dates ... it is very weird. Today I sorted by "date added" and discovered that anything purchased between 6/22/05 (my birthday, coincidentally or not?) and 12/31/05 will not play on the iPod ... UNLESS I had copied the song to a CD and restored to my hard drive from the CD.
Songs that I have purchased since replacing the hard drive worked for a while, then wouldnt' work, but I could delete the song from my iPod and re-copy from my PC. Obviously this won't work for all the music that I lost though!
Music from this account is authorized for 4 devices so that isn't the problem, any suggestions?
    Thanks!

If you have made sure that both the iTunes and iPod software are current and have deauthorized and reauthorized your computer, try this:
    1. Deauthorize the computer.
    2. Create a new user in the system.
    3. Download the free song of the week from the iTMS in the new user account.
    4. Play the song in that user account to authorize again.
    5. Restore the iPod (using the iPod updater) in the new user account.
    6. Sync just the free song of the week and see if it plays on the iPod.
If it does, you appear to have a corrupted iTunes library file, and you should recreate the iTunes library file in your normal user account, and then sync your music back to the iPod and all should be well.
The following articles will help you.

    How to restore the iPod.

Not sure what you mean by "devices". It's computers that are authorized for purchased music not iPods/

  • IPod is not playing songs and is not being recognised by Windows AT ALL.

Whenever I turn it on, the error flashes and I can't play songs. When I connect it to a computer, a flashing orange light comes on to say it's charging and do not disconnect.
It is not appearing in iTunes, My Computer. Device manager shows a 'storage device' and that it is located on an Apple iPod.
I run the iPod installer that came on the disc, it recognises the iPod is there and says it needs to be formatted. I press format but then it says there was an error communicating with the iPod. There is nothing I can do about this.
Is this happening to anyone else and what can I do? If you need more information, just ask. Tech support was no real use and I am becoming very frustrated.

  • Ipod Touch Not Playing Songs

So I just recently purchased a new ipod touch everything worked fine until today when i tried to play some songs and they would not play. It showed the song playing but it wouldnt start and always was on paused even when I clicked play.. Anyone know whats going on?

I ran into the same issue with my new 32gb touch. Everything played fine on my Nano, but when I sync'd my touch, only half the songs played. I have both ipods sync'd with my new computer. When I dusted off my old computer (the one that I actually bought the songs with) and re-sync'd the touch with it, everything worked... So, the only thing I can think of is when I dragged the files to an external hard drive, then dragged them to my new computer, I lost some important data that the touch needed, probably a protection feature. I have everything backed up from the old computer on cd's the long and tedious iTunes way, and will dump my library on the new computer and re-load through the iTunes back-up process, that should fix it.(My non-playing songs show "Protected ACC" on the new computer and "Purchased ACC" on the old computer)

  • IPod Randomly Stops Playing Songs

Hi, Some songs on my iPod Touch running version 3.1.2, (mostly songs that I downloaded a long time ago) stop playing abruptly about 30 seconds before the song is over. The iPod says that the song is playing, but no audio is coming out. It is very annoying, and I was wondering if anyone else was having this problem or had found a solution. Thank you for helping me.
P.S. The songs play fine on my 4th generation iPod, (A.K.A. the "iPod Click Wheel") so I know the files are not corrupt.

No, I don't. Even if I did, that would not explain why no audio comes out of the speakers / headphones.

  • IPod Classic not playing songs

    Hi
Grabbed my 160 GB iPod Classic yesterday and the entire thing was empty. No clue what happened. The only thing I did was update the OS and download a new album from iTunes.
Resynched the device twice now and now the iPod is not playing some songs. Some play, some tracks skip on to the next one without playing.
Not finding a clear solution in my searches, though others seem to have had the issue.
All my songs play fine in iTunes.
Would love a solution, cuz I like my iPod!
    thanks,
    D

What format are these problematic files encoded in?  I assume you have worked through all of the suggestions here already?

  • IPod does not play songs in order - iPod Shuffle 1GB

When I drag songs to the iPod it adds them to the end of the list and then I sort by song name. When I play them on the iPod they are played at the end. When I hook up the iPod they are listed in the right order but that's not how they are played.
Does anyone know why this is happening and how to get around it?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Ipod Does not Play songs

Ipod does not play music. Instead of playing the song, it just lists the title (like when a song is playing) and then moves to the next song without playing the song. It's as if it automatically forwards to the next song (song titles displays for every second). And this occurs in shuffle mode, and/or selecting a playlist. Need help! Ipod was purchased in this site on May 27,2006.

please help me im going crazy!!!

    Hello Anna,
Have you any tracks purchased from the iTunes Music Store? Did you authorise the new computer: About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and Deauthorisation you could also have a look here: Troubleshooting songs that skip on iPod
One last thing, when your iPod is connected to iTunes and you try to play it through the computer do you get Grey text when you look at the content and lock symbol at the bottom of the screen? This would mean that your iPod is set to "automatically update songs and playlists". . If you want to access your iPod directly, play it through your iTunes, connect it to a second computer etc. you just need to change the update method to "Manually manage songs and Playlists" in the iPod preferences. • IPod won't play song all the way through?

My iPod Classic skips a song at the 1:22 mark (shows the correct 7:04 running time) and begins next tune. One song out of 3,000 or so. Interesting.
    What's up with that?
    Thanks in advance.

Hmmm.  Does this problem track play okay in iTunes?
Either way, I would try downloading a fresh copy of it again from iTunes via iCloud as explained in this Apple support document.
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Then remove the originally downloaded version and sync the new one over to your iPod Classic.
