Ipod isn't recognized by windows 7 explorer or itunes help!

Okay so it started I was cleaning out my computer in the 'delete programs' section of control panel. I found something called 'asmedia asm104x' it looked rather
suspicious so I deleted it. After that my ipod just suddenly stopped charging from Itunes so I was like "ok thats weird." I looked at itunes and it wasn't found then I looked on Windows explorer and it wasn't there either so then I just thought "Ok I'll restart and see what happens." so  I did that and as soon as my computer rebooted my ipod was charging so I felt relieved and then when it got to the windows logo during start up it just stopped charging. So I looked into the issue and checked a bunch of things, I ran diagnostics I tested the cable and usb ports etc... it was all fine I even tested it on my Asus touch screen lap top and it charged there so I looked further into it and narrowed it down to uninstalling Itunes so I did that. TWICE. I cleared everything; I looked all around my computer for itunes related stuff and I'm am 100% sure I deleted EVERYTHING to do with Apple. Then I installed it and Itunes for the second time I opened it everything was still there. I'm really frustrated and I have already looked at almost all the threads about this subject yet they all link back to the one tutorial on how to fix it so please don't just link me to one of the apple tutorials with no information. I want to know whats going and how I can fix it, please tell me if I need this 'asmedia' program and if so what version or whatever. Please help me I am rather desperate.

Googling shows that the "program" is the driver for the USB host controller on your computer.

  • IPod Touch not recognized by Windows Explorer.

My iPod Touch is shown in iTunes' list of devices but is not recognized by Windows Explorer.  Another possibly consequential symptom is that iTunes will not start when the device is connected to the computer.  Any help appreciated.
Windows 7 Pro, IE9, have verified latest version of iTunes.

If your iPod is recognized by iTunes (and by your photo app as a camera), then that's how it should be. To startup iTunes when the iPod is connected, check the appropriate option on the iPod's Summary page in iTunes.

  • Old iPod isn't recognized by Windows Vista

    Hey Everyone,
My girlfriend has a second generation iPod, which is around 5 years old. She didn't use iTunes before getting a new laptop(which runs Vista), but has now decided to try it out. When I plug in the iPod a message comes up saying "USB Device Not Recognized. One of the USB devices attached to this computor has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it. For assistance in solving this problem, click this message." It recommends to reconnect, which I have done, and then it recommends "replacing" the device. She doesn't want to have to get a new iPod if at all possible. Does anyone have any recommendations?

  • Ipod disabled & not recognized in windows 7 or itunes

My son disabled his ipod touch 4th gen trying to get into it, he planned to give it to his cousin so I just removed the device from his Apple acnt. However, it's still disabled & now not recognized in Windows 7 or by I-Tunes on any computer or usb we try, but it does charge by usb or wall charger. I am not super familiar with Apple products & need some advice if anyone has any. Thanks!

    Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

  • My iPod isn't recognized by the computer or iTunes.

I've looked at all the troubleshooting articles about this and none of them seem to help. My iPod just won't show up on iTunes or in "My Computer" when I plug it into the USB port. I've tried the "five R's" and they aren't helping at all, I'd really just like to be able to get music on my iPod so I can use it.

Have you been through these at all?

  • IPod isn't recognized by windows or itunes

Recently my ipod ran into some problems. Sometimes when I plug it into USB it says that the USB Device Not Recognized in a bubble on the bottom of the screen. Other times it will connect but will not open up itunes and won't show up in my computer and displays the "do not disconnect" icon on the ipod screen. I've tried reseting, rebooting, i have the latest itunes. Is there a remedy?
5th gen with video   Windows XP Pro

I have kinda of the same problem but I think mine is worse. See i just got my new ipod back from the ipod service thing so i plug it into my wall charger first to get it all the way charged before i connect to my comp. After i get it fully charged i go and plug in into my usb device with the apple connector and as soon as i do i get the usb device not recognized, but it gets better at that same time my ipod's backlight wont come on and theres a message on the iPod screen but i cant read it because of the back light is off, then i notice that there is a lowbattery sign on the upper corner(i think it was the right) then it shutsdown and now i cant get it to charge in my wall charger or my computer and it still says usb device not recognized when its plugged in.
And also as a side note it wont even say usb device not recognized when i plug it into the back of my comp its like i didnt even plug it into the back
So if anyone could help me it would be most appreciated, and im shure no one has had this mutch bad luck with an ipod

Please help me, couln´t find help on your web site yet.
    Tx.

Hi all, seems to be a lot of issues with this little device. All it has to do is play music like any other mp3 player. Unfortunately, it can't even do this. The two other mp3 players I have work without fault, don't require a 35 meg program download to work, don't need to be connected to a computer to recharge the battery and I have never needed to "Do the 5 R's" to try and fix problems. I have never needed to unplug printers to get my computer to recognise the other players or had to decypher "blinking light codes" to understand what the device is doing. Still there are die-hard Apple fans who will say there must be something wrong with your computer. I had believed that Apple were superior in a range of ways yet with my first (and last) foray into the world of Apple products, I find this to be untrue. I don't want or need the frustration that I have experienced with this device and from the number of people on this forum, I would say that I am not alone.

  • My iPod is being recognized by Windows, but not iTunes!!!

    The Subject says it all....

Do a reset (make sure you see the Apple logo) while it's plugged in to the computer.
    That's the 'starting place'.
And you're not doing a reset if you don't see the Apple logo, BTW. It's not easy to do. If you don't know how to do a reset, you can find directions by doing a quick search of this forum, or doing a quick review of the manual that came with your iPod.

  • IPod Touch Not Recognized in Windows 8.1 Preview

Hello.  I installed Windows 8.1 Preview clean last week, and am now having problems getting my iPod Touch recognized within iTunes.
Normally, there is a button marked On This iPod, which I click, and then load music in that screen.  That button is not appearing.
Furthermore, usually my iPod is listed somewhere in Windows Explorer.  It is not listed.  I've tried hooking the iPod Touch up to each of my USB ports.  I also have a 4-port USB 3.0 hub and tried them.  The device isn't being recognized.
I understand it's possible there could be conflicts between Windows 8.1 and some software.  Windows 8.1 is, of course, still in the beta stages. But I was wondering if anyone else was having this problem, and if there might be a workaround for it.
    Thank you!   J. Danniel

I uninstalled iTunes, rebooted, and reinstalled.  Now, the iPod is being recognized by iTunes.  Hopefully, it will remain recognized the next time I reboot Windows.  I'd hate to have to uninstall/reinstall each time.
But, I'm using a beta operating system, and knew the ramafications when I installed it.  So, whatever happens, happens.  Thank you for responding.   Jd
