Ipod isnt really fixed or is it???:(

hey all,
I sent my iPod 5thgen video in for repair on 02/11/06 because the case is defective. when pressing down on the iPod case near the bottom middle it would make a clicking sound, as if the case was coming off. that is the way i described the problem to apple, I recived an e-mail today 02/15/06 saying "Your IPOD 5TH GENERATION passed our diagnostic tests and we have installed any appropriate software or firmware updates. Because it is working as expected, we will return it to you rather than sending you a replacement." does this mean they never checked the problem i reported and never fixed my problem? if so did i waste my one tech support call a lot of time for packaging and waiting?
thank you for reading if i could get tech supports e-mail that would be awesome considering i've already used my tech support call. thanks again for reading and any help you can give me!

Never seen a public email address for tech support.
considering i've already used my tech support call.
It's not one call. You get one issue from tech support. If the same issue takes a hundred calls, you're covered.
If it does the same when you get it back, you can call about the same, unresolved issue.

    Probably dead if you have tried to charge it.
    You should never try to charge or turn on a wet electronic device.
    You should let it dry for  a week or so, then try.

    There are companies that specialize in data retrieval but it's costly (probably cheaper to buy a new iPod) and more than likely as Allan said, your circuits are probably damaged beyond all hope of retrieving anything. It's worth calling Apple you maybe able to get a discount or a refurbished iPod. Can't hurt to ask, Good luck. (And in the future... no texting in the john.) Sorry, couldn't resist it.

    Nasty, same here too.It happened to me 10 times!Sometimes the updat programe works, sometimes it doesn't. Irs a complete fail from spotify!But, i have some workaround..... Goto: C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Local\Spotify\UpdateYou will find an update exe like spotify_installer-1.0.11.134.ga37df67b-152.exe Copy its name, including the extention. delete it. create a text file in the same location.rename it to excactely this name. (in my case:spotify_installer-1.0.11.134.ga37df67b-152.exe)make it read only start spotify :) Who needs minor upgrades anyway! Regard,Olafsky

    Have you tried a hard reset of your iPod yet?  To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
    If that doesn't work, are you still connected to a network?  Either way try connecting to a different one and downloading another FREE app to see if that helps.

    Hi. Ocasionally my ipod freezes, so i have to wait untill my ipod dies, and recharge it. One day it froze, and while it was frozen i decided to charge it, and now it wont turn on.     - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on           
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable                     
    - Try on another computer                                                       
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    So I may have missed a thread on this... But does it not seem logical that what the the iPod touch really needs bluetooth. I could care less about using bluetooth for audio, synking or anything else but 1 thing...
    Given that the iPhone is locked into AT&T wouldn't a bluetooth enabled pone allow you to use bluetooth's networking abilities to share you cell phones data plan? Granted some wireless providers (cough*verizon*cough) cripple there phones and disable this feature. but it would be at least an option to some people.

    The ipod touch does not support bluetooth nor does it have bluetooth built into the device. THere are bluetooth adapters that you might use for like headphones but nothing like data transfer and what you mention. If this is a feature you would like on a future ipod then leave your feedback at the link below.

    Cured the problem! Reinstalled an earlier version of itunes from oldapps.com (version 10) now everything works as it should. I would suggest that if you are experiencing these problems that you do the same. I must say that it is a brave business decision on behalf of apple to effectively lock out all windows 7 users from their products and sales channels and I can only wish them luck in this very shortsighted policy.

    I have had a 30 gig color ipod for about six months, never had a problem until 2 days ago. I dont think there is a problem with my PC, as its a work computer and has never had acted up.
    After resetting my Ipod, the ipod logo screen will not go away and the Ipod will not turn on.
    I've tried putting the Ipod into disk mode but the Ipod isnt recognized by Itunes. I have downloaded the latest version of Itunes and Ipod Installer. I have backed up all of my files.
    I want to try to Restore the Ipod but I can't because its not being recognized. My USB port works fine and I know the connection works because when I put it in disk mode, I can see it charging.
    On one attempt to Restore the Ipod, I got message that says "can't mount Ipod"

    I have a similar problem. I have a 60Gb color Ipod which worked fine with my previous computer, a Pentium III using Windows 2000.
    I changed to a Windows XP notebook and the iPod is not recognized by it. The strange thing is that it apears on the attached devices feature (usually on the lower right bar) once I connect it, it appears as drive F: on explorer, but when I try to open it on explorer I get an error message, most of the time saying it is an I/O problem. Additionaly, the iPod is not recognized by iTunes and when I tried formating or updating it I either got a message it was not connected or the Initializing went on forever.
    I would greatly appreciate if someone could help me (I already booted everything several times, resintalled all programs, formated my iPod in the other computer...).

    What was the exact error message you received?  When you removed and re-installed iTunes, did you use the precise instructions in this Apple support document to walk you through the process?
