Ipod isnt recognised/doesnt sync

When i plug my (2nd Gen) Ipod into my Windows PC, one of two things happen:
1) A message comes up saying device no recognised - i then unplug
2) The ipod is recognised and then itunes comes up with a message saying that the device is corrupted and needs to be restored.. However when i try to retore it an error stops the restoration (1418) and nothing happens
is there anything i can do to enable my ipod to sync with the computer (I have already tried to reinstall itunes and it makles no difference)
thanks

If you are using Windows try iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows or here for a Mac

hi,i'm new to the forums, but anyways i'll just get to the point.i have a 30 Gb white video ipod.one time i wanted to sync sum new songs to my ipod,so i conected it to my computer, and then the computer started lagging,so i took the usb cable out of the port when the ipod said "do not disconnect" on the screen so then the ipod froze.i reseted it,connected it back to the computer and the computer wouldnt read it AT ALL.so i went to apple.com,and it said i have to "restore" it to factory setting, problem is my laptop wont even read my ipod.however, once after this incident i connected my ipod to my laptop and it did read it,but when i tried to restore it,a message came up that said "could not proceed with restoration.the requested resource was not found"
    so i have two questions:
1.how do i get my computer to read my ipod, and
2.when it does finally read it,how do i get past that whole"requested resource was not found" thing?
    thanx

  • My ipod isnt letting me sync it to my computer without a passcode, which it will not give me the option to put on into the ipod, what do i do?

Every time i plug the ipod into itunes it says i need to put the passcode in but the ipod touch doenst give me that option. It just says that i need to plug my ipod into my itunes which i do, but then my itunes tells me to go back to the ipod. This is a new MacBook and maybe the ipod needs the old computer? But that one crashed... How do i fix this?

Connect in recovery mode and restore, you'll get the option to reset the passcode during this process:
iOS: Unable to update or restore and iPhone and iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.

  • HT1414 if your ipod isnt recognized and synced with this computer, how do you restore it if it is disabled?

I hooked my ipod up to a different computer to restore it because I forgot my password and its disabled but whenever I try it says "itunes could not connect to the ipod because it is locked with a passcode. you must enter your passcode on the ipod before it can be used with itunes." I even restored it and it let me update it but once it was finished, this message would still pop up. Please help ASAP!

    See Here  >  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
You may need to try this More than Once...
Be sure to Follow ALL the Steps...
But... if the Device has been Modified... this will Not necessarily work.

PLLEEEEAAASSEEE HELLPP!

    Hi, welcome to Apple Discussions!
You can try to reinstall iTunes and sync again, your PC should recognize your iPod. If you want, install an older version of iTunes.
    I hope that helps,
    Best

    Hello,
I am currently an owner of an Ipod Touch 4th generation. I see you are having problems with your Ipod Touch, so I will try to find a solution to your problem.
Restart the Computer. This sometimes happens to me when I keep my Windows 7 on Sleep, and I try to sync my Ipod
Make sure you have the latest version of Itunes
    Hope that helps!
If none of the above solutions work, can you please respond back ASAP as I will try to find another solution to your problem (This might even help others with the same problem!)
    Cheers!

  • Ipod doesnt sync to windows outlook 2003 calendar

My 60GB color video ipod will sync contacts from Windows Office Outlook 2003, however, the calendar doesnt sync. I receive an error message stating that "Itunes can not sync calendars to ipod. try restarting outlook"?
Anyone got any advice for me, pls?

yes, i am discovering that problem as well. I found that i can sync each individual calendar event SEPARATELY.....which is extremely time consuming not to mention a pain in the ***. I would buy an iPhone but not if you can't hot sync your calendar....meanwhile, it won't hot sync my most recent contacts either......Frustrated in Collingswood, NJ
