IPod issues with two platforms

I have a PC and a Mac; both have iTunes. I just got an iPod (30G video) and hooked it up to the PC,downloading everything iTunes. Well, my audiobooks and my other music from iTunes is on the Mac, and I want it on my iPod,too. Will it hurt my PC-formatted iPod to hook it up to the Mac? Can the iPod run dual platforms?
Powerbook g4, Compaq Presario 5008   Mac OS X (10.4.5)   Windows XP

You can only have the iPod in one format... Windows (FAT32) or Mac (HFS+). The good news is that a Mac can read an iPod that is already formatted for PC. (A PC cannot read an iPod formatted for Mac). When you connect the iPod to the Mac, you should receive a message from iTunes stating that "Your iPod is linked to another music library, do you want to link it to this one and erase all existing songs and playlists" You can click "no" on this, and manually update more songs to your iPod from your Mac. Once you've clicked no, you want to click iTunes > Preferences, click on iPod, set it to "manually manage songs and playlists," click OK, and then you can begin clicking and dragging songs from your Mac's iTunes to your iPod.
Hope this helps you out.
Best wishes,

  • Very Strange Network Issue With Two Guests on 2012 R2 Hyper-V Failover Cluster

Hi all.  We're having a odd issue with two guests on our 2012 R2 failover cluster.
In a nutshell, if we shutdown a particular server (I'll call it Server A) another totally different server (Server B) on the same node loses it's network connectivity to the domain. If we start server A back up, network connectivity returns on server B.
At first I thought server A might be running a service that was somehow linked to server B, so I decided to disable server A's NIC.  Interestingly, that had no affect on server B's connectivity.
The next step I tried was pausing server A and again, no adverse affect on server B's connectivity.
Next step was to live migrate server A to another node.  This action did
cause server B to lose its network connection.
One other clue is that if I ping server B from either of the Hyper-V hosts in the cluster, I never lose network connection to server B.
So I would suspect this is some network issue on the cluster, but I'm kind of at a loss where to go from here.
Has anyone seen this behavior before or does anyone have any troubleshooting suggestions I can try?
    Thanks!
    George Moore

    Hi Sir,
I'v never seen this before .
    >>Next step was to live migrate server A to another node.  This action did
cause server B to lose its network connection.
They are connecting to same virtual switch ?
First please run cluster validation to check if there is any error .
If it is ok , please try the following items for troubleshooting :
    1. shutdown  serverA   serverB
    2. then add another virtual NIC for serverB
    3. start server B  check if the issue happens to both "old" and "new" virtual NIC .
In addition , you can live migrate both A and B to another node , then try to live migrate A to the original node .
If the issue persists , I would suggest you to remove that virtual switch on both nodes then re-create them .
    Best Regards,
    Elton Ji

  • Xi3 companion box communication issues with X1 platform

Hopefully someone has had this issue as I haven't been able to find this one during my search.   Subject: Xi3 set top boxes will not connect to the X1 platform on the same outlet(s) that my RNG150 will.   Background: 4 weeks ago a very polite gentleman working with an Xfinity subcontractor arrived at 8am to install our Xfinity package and equipment.  8 hours later he finally left.  During that time, there were multiple connectivity issues with the small Xi3 set top boxes.  The X1 platform (DVR) and modem were easily set up and tested and worked perfectly (and still do) at the main location in our great room, however, when it came time to connect the other 3 rooms (all located upstairs), there were communication issues.  As my wife set up services with Xfinity, she didn't realize we needed these extra set top boxes, so the technitian had to call and add them and only had (2) of the "new" Xi3 boxes, but had an "older" RNG150 set top box in his vehicle so we had him install that one as we didn't mind the older larger box in the rec room.  After multiple calls to trouble shoot why these two boxes weren't communicating, he apparently resolved the issue, tested the boxes and we signed off and he left.  That evening I went to turn on the bedroom tv and nothing but the red screen of death.  Error code RDK 03030.  So, I followed the troubleshooting guildlines, rebooting the platform in sequence, several times to make sure I got it right.  Still red screen.  I checked the other Xi3 box, same issue.  Since the rec room tv was still working, I just jacked that box and moved it to our bedroom.  BOOM.  Full functionality.  Only problem was the inability to access our saved programs.  So, i've been doing this for the last 4 months.  Moving the box from our room to the rec room for our little one to watch cartoons, then back to our room at night.  Suffice it to say, my wife is growing tired of this so I put a call into the technician as he wanted to make sure I call him first so the install doesn't look negative on his record.  No response.  I've been researching this for the last week and have come to the following conclusions. - Possible wire/coax issue. This seemed the most plausible, however, I was able to confirm we have the COMMSCOPE     Amp installed and the line to the X1 platform does in fact work based on the fact the older box works on the same line, so if it is some sort of wiring issue its lost at the Xi3 box or perhaps the older box requires a weaker signal to perform?  I've also seen many comments suggesting the COMMSCOPE amps are garbage.  Thats fine, but if it worked previously, and the older box works, would that still be the culprit?
    - Moca issue.I'm not entirely sure how this works, but when checking diagnostics, the grid shows 0's across the matrix.  Even with the older box active.  I'm at work currently so I cannot post the rest of the diagnostics, can provide that once I get home.- Hardware issue.  Even though these boxes worked when the technician installed and tested them, perhaps there is a hardware failure or these boxes are "bad".   Hopefully someone on here can help, I'd prefer not to have to contact customer service, follow all the trouble shooting steps I've perfomed ad nauseum and have a tech come out if possible.  However, if it has to happen then so be it. Thanks for your help in advance.

  • Performance issue with two unbanalnced hierarchies in a single report

    Hi All
We are facing the performance issue with one of the report which houses two unbalanced hierarchies (having 18 levels) - skipped & ragged. Basically its a part of OBIAPPS financila analytics .
    The query is below :
Could anyone let me know how to improve the performane. Any parameter that should be looked at while using unbalanced hierarchies.

    Hello Gurus, Experts
    Any help/tips here ...

  • Using iPod Shuffle with TWO computers

I have two laptops (one Powerbook and one iBook) and would like to use my iPod Shuffle with both computers, downloading music from the iTunes of each computer. Is that possible or will it always make me choose which iTunes I am linked to and delete all the music from the other one?

You can set your iPod shuffle up to mount as a disk on the desktop, and copy data files that can be transported from one computer to another. You aren't going to be able to use the shuffle to sync music from one iTunes account and another, however. It was only designed to work with one computer/one iTunes at a time.

  • Issues with two time capsules in one network

I have two time machines in my environment and issues with dropped connections.
As long as I use only my iMac or Apple MacBook Pro the connections work 90% of the time, I do have some issues with dropped (afp/smb) connections and unable to reconnect every now and then.
However, invariably when I connect a windows machine to the network both time machine connections just die, including the internet connection, I had to restart one of the time machines in order to reconnect. I do have a Guest Network and connecting the windows machine to that network does not affect the time machines availability.
Is having two time machines in the environment not supported?
Why do I experience these drops in connections to the online disks?
Why can't I have a mixed environment (win/mac) connect to the time machines at the same time?
One time machine is the AP and the other one is just extending that network.
I have seen issues in the following scenarios
Copying large amounts of data from iMac to time machine
Copying large amounts of data from one time machine to the other
Connecting a windows computer to the network
    Any ideas?

    Yes

  • IPod sync with two comuters

I want to sync my iPod with two different comuters. First I run the music librarry on my home computer and want additionaly sync with my work laptop the contact and calendar functions. Now if I connect to the laptop I get the message to reset my ipod.
Is there a known procedure availible to do so?
    Thanks and merry christmas
HP & DELL   Windows XP Pro

You can't sync an iPod from two computers, if you want to connect and use an iPod on more than one computer you need to change the update preference to "manually manage songs and videos"
    Using iPod with Multiple computers
    Managing content manually on iPod

  • Continuing issues with two podcasts...

I am back to having issues with posts not being visible in iTunes...
    The feeds are:
    feeds.feedburner.com/SosChurchStockholm
    and
    feeds,feedbruner.com/JohannesAmritzersPodcast
And they do not validate when trying to verify them through feedvalidator.org.
Again, thankful for any help that I can get on this.
    Thanks.
    /Peter

Both feeds work as would be expected. However both have some episodes which do not have 'enclosure' tags containing the URLs of the media files, and as these are seen as not having any playable media by iTunes it does not display them.
For example in 'Johannes Amritzer's Podcasts' the episode 'Signs of Hope' has the URL of a media file in the 'link' tag but this won't do you any good. So you need to do for that and similar episodes something that you did with others to make them iTunes-compliant but didn't do with these.
The FeedValidator errors are not serious but should be addressed. In SOS Church Stockhom, in line 84 you need Jan not January (though it doesn't seem to upset iTunes) and there are other similar cases; and your duration in line 146 should be 1:25:15
In the other feed Christianity is a sub-category, not a category - see
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/specs.html#categories
Similar points about the dates, and you have an incorrect day of the week. Not having a guid tag isn't fatal but it's preferable to have them as elsewhere.

  • Any compatibility issues with two X-Fi cards installed on the same syst

I'll give you a breif background on what I'm doing. I run an internet radio show, and I require three soundcards to be installed in my system. I am current running:
SB X-Fi (Non fatalty, but the full-size board)
    SB Audigy2 ZS
    Onboard Realtek
In the above configuration, all the soundcards are happy with each other and not bothered by each others drivers. However, I am currently toying with the idea of replacing the Audigy2ZS with an SB X-Fi Fatalty. Here's the issue, will the Normal X-Fi and Fatalty X-Fi drivers have any compatiblity issues? I dont believe they use the same software, so seperate drivers would have to be installed. With the Audigy card currently in the system, I never had to install any drivers for it as I think they cam with SP2 or something and my system automatically recognizes it with (WDM) next to it's name in device manager. I would just like to confirm this before I purchase the X-Fi Fatality.
Last question: What about another X-Fi (Non Fatalty) that uses the same exact driver that's currently installed in my system for my other X-fi. Would there be any issues with that?

I actually dont have any trouble with the mode switching right now, it works great. That's actually why I'm buying the second X-fi, so I have the ability to switch modes with the different cards. I'm not using the software that came on the CD, but the updated drivers off of the web, and there is a drop down box to change which card you want to set settings for. What issues should I be looking out for?

  • Log4j issue with two ears in weblogic cluster

    Hi,
I am having issue with log4j.I am having 2 ear files say AppA and AppB.I have used log4j(DailyRollingFileAppender) in both so that logs from AppA gets written to a.log and from AppB gets written to b.log.
This approach is working fine in non-clustered environment(weblogic admin server).
But when i try the same in a clustered(weblogic cluster) environment the logs from both AppA and AppB gets written to a.log.
Could you please help me to resolve this issue.

Include ${weblogic.Name} in your log4j property file thiis will create the log file name with server name
    log4j.appender.TEST_LOGGER.File=/logs/${weblogic.Name}_TEST_LOGGER_LOG.txt
Do not keep log4j within your ear
move it to server and include it in your class path of your server.

  • Having issues with two-finger swipe and hot corners. Help!

I've lately been having an issue, where my two finger swipe will stop working. I also notice that 3 of my 4 hot corners no longer work, either. The only one that works is the top left. When I restart my computer, or change users, etc, it's fixed for a while, but then the problem will start up again in about an hour.
I've tried the Software Update, and it seems everything is up to date. Any solutions?? I spent a good deal of money on this iMac, and I'm concerned there's something wrong with it.
I have a 27" iMac, which I bought around November 2011. Software is OSX 10.7.5
    Thanks!

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Issue with two Facts

    Hi All,
I am stuck with a situation here. I have a reporting requirement where I have two level of 1:M relationship. One project can have multiple Scope Ids and One Scope Id can have multiple Assignment Ids. For this requirement I have 2 Facts here, One is Scope Fact and other one is Staffing Fact. Scope Fact contains the Foreign Keys of Proj Dim, Client Dim & Scope Dim table. Where Staffing fact contains the FKs of Scope Dim & Person Dim. Please find the datamodel at attached link.
    http://picasaweb.google.co.in/lh/photo/qVR4C7SEURNLcVxt5Hn-MA?feat=directlink
Here the issue is, when I choose One column from Scope Fact & one from Staffing fact it works fine, as both the facts are joined with a common dimension (scope dim). As soon as i add a column from Project Dim, which is joined with Scope Fact, but not with Staffing Fact, Report Breaks. Here is the error massage.
*[nQSError: 15018] Incorrectly defined logical table source (for fact table Scope Staffing Fact) does not contain mapping for [Proj Dim.PID]. (HY000)*
Please suggest, If I am missing anything here, or Is there a better way of Data Model of such requirement?
    Regards,
    Ashish A.

    Thanks Raghu,
I tried the same way, but I am still getting the same error. I created a single Logical fact table for both the facts and assigned the Logical level for dimensions as required.
    Can you please suggest?
    Regards,
    Ashish A.

  • 5G iPod issue with PowerBook vs. Desktop Mac

Is anyone seeing a problem between computers with the sync issue on the 5G 30GB iPod? My sync issue started with my 15-inch PowerBook G4. Wouldn't sync right, kept telling me I had out-of-date software, etc. This same PowerBook worked fine with my nephew's old 2G iPod just a few days ago.
Spent forever on the phone with Apple, who told me to reinstall the iPod software (do a restore if necessary, which I did), iTunes, and Quicktime, in that order. Did that, didn't work. Same problem. Issue is with any purchased music. Won't sync it, gives the "old software" message.
However, I thought I'd try it on another machine, just to see if it would work. Connected it to my G4 MDD (mirror door drive) tower, and would you believe it works? Also, I noticed in the "iPod Options," there are a lot more options there than what was originally showing up on the PowerBook, such as display album art, a bunch more options about video and such.
What gives?! My tower and my PowerBook are both running identical systems, identical software versions, etc. I'm using iPod software 1.0, iTunes 6.0.1(3), QuickTime 7.0.3, OSX 10.4.3, etc. In fact, the PowerBook is actually a little faster (1.5 ghz vs. 1.0Ghz for the tower). Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    Sherry

  • IPod Touch with two computers/libraries/accounts?

I just bought my wife an iPod Touch. Since I have a huge iTunes library, I was hoping there was a way she could plug her iPod into my MacBook and, using the "manage iPod music manually" function, drag and drop the music she wants from my library. However, she would still download apps, movies and TV shows and do whatever other synching and management is required from her own iBook using her own iTunes account.
    Does that make sense?
There shouldn't be any digital rights issues because 99.9 percent of the music in my library was ripped from CD, but I seem to recall when I first got my iPod a few years ago that Apple did not allow users to copy music to an iPod from an iTunes library other than the iPod user's "home" library to prevent sharing of music. Does that restriction still exist? If so, does anyone have any suggestions on how to handle this situation?
If worse comes to worse, she can always download the CDs she wants to her own iTunes library, but I was hoping we could avoid that laborious task.
    Thanks!

That is possible, Nowadays when you set it to 'manually manage iPod' and you plug into second computer you click 'ignore' to something like 'do you want to format it to use with this computer', and it will allow you to add songs from a second computer, but wont let you touch them with the first computer.
When i got a second computer i dumped the iTunes lib file and the music folder to the and place it should be, and i think my iPod thinks they are the same computer... you can dump the iTunes Lib file onto her computer (if you put it on a PC remember to add the file ext.) and move only the music/apps/ect she wants to her computer... and then open itunes and it will give you errors on the files you didn't move over and just delete them from her iTunes, and authorize a second computer to your iTunes account and DRM files will work.
or you could just start her with fresh iTunes and dump the music files from your mac into her iTunes and they will copy to her computer (you must move apps manually, just place them in the same spot you found them in in your iTUnes folder), authorize her computer with your iTunes account and it will ask you to download your items you have bought from your iTunes account (or if you copied them from your computer and she doesn't want the others click 'no')
