IPod iTouch Photo Sizing

I'd like to use my iTouch as a portfolio for my photographs. I don't want to crop them to exactly fit the 3"x2" screen. I'd like to be able to have the photo's appear uncropped, so that a tall picture would take up the 3" vertical space, then would perhaps only be 1 1/2" horizontally.
Currently, in the vertical mode, the iTouch is filling up the horizontal 2" space, and cropping the tops and bottoms of the photos. I can adjust each photo by pinching in, but this has to be done each time I view the picture. There is a "move & scale" command, but I think this only applies to a picture that you want to use as wallpaper.
Is there a way to tell the iTouch to avoid cropping the picture, but rather fill the vertical space, but NOT the horizontal space?
(BTW, I've processed the photos in Photoshop, then saved them as JPEG's in the "My Pictures" folder. This is my first iPod, so I'm new to this!)
Thanks!

I see what you mean, you want your photos to fill the screen sutomatically in vertical orientation, and then not fill it when in horizontal orientation. Unfortunatley, AFAIK, you must crop each picture to 480 x 320 pixels.

  • Syncing Two iPods/iTouch/iPhone on One Computer

Can iTunes sync on a single computer sync more than one device?
If I keep the old, deactivated iPhone as an iPod/iTouch, can I sync it one the same computer as my new iPhone 3GS? Will iTunes recognize that each has a unique sync protocol?

Although I'm not sure it's necessary, but it would be best if you gave each a unique name.
Ok, how do you give each a unique name?
I just got the 3gs and am giving the 3g to my wife. I got the 3gs working first and then I put her chip in the 3g, deleted the exchange email settings and most programs (leaving a few of the free programs I thought she might like). When I plugged the phone into the computer, iTunes started sycn (which I stopped immediately). I hunted for quite some time and couldn't see anyway to give this particular phone a new name.
    What have I missed?

  • How can you set up more than one device on iTunes. I have an iPad, iPod, itouch and iPhone. I don't want the same on all devices.

How can you set up more than one device on iTunes? I have an iPad, iPod, itouch and iPhone. I don't want the same on all devices. I have all my music/videos on iTunes on my mac book pro. Can you set up separate folders for each device and drop in what ever music/videos from the main iTunes library?

In itunes it is called syncing and you can choose exactly what content to sync to all devices and it can be different for all of them

You can transfer iTunes purchases by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
Most other stuff by the third-party programs discussed here:
    Best iPod to PC
However, your app data such as saved games will be lost unless you have a backup file from your old computer.

  • Ipod classic (photo) and windows version not recognized by itunes on my macbook air. Iphone works fine and previously it also worked out with the Ipod. If someone has an answer that would be great. thanks

itunes on my mac does not any longer show my ipod classic (photo, window formated). It worked before and itunes with iphone just works fine. Any clue? Thanks.

Sorry to jump the gun, but did you connect the iPod via USB Hub on the MB Air?
If plug it into the wrong USB port, which is shared like using a USB Hub, I would suggest connecting the iPod directly to the MB Air and not via USB Hub.
But if you connect directly, have the iPod ever connect to iTunes, without problems, on this MB Air?
You got an old 4G iPod photo, based on iPod Software version 1.2.1
I mean downgrade to the iTunes version, that was working, with your iPod, but try the right USB port first before downgrading iTunes, with earlier version download here.

  • Photo Sizing in Lightroom 3

When exporting from lightroom 3 I want to export the largest possible photo my camera will allow.  I am using a Sony Nex 3, 14 megapixel camera.  I am shooting in raw format.  In the photo sizing section I choose 1200 pixels, thinking this will create a large photo but when I open the file in photoshop after exporting it as a .tiff, the file is only 2"x3"  Can anyone tell me what settings I should choose to get a larger photo with good quality?

Try exporting without specifying  pixel dimensions (see image below). Set the resolution to 300 for best quality printing. Your export should be at the native resolution. My 21mp photos open in PS at about 18 x 12 inches. If I need to print lager I can adjust the resolution down to 240.

  • Photo sizing for optimum use of space and quality viewing and downloading

    Greetings!
I am curious about photo sizing in iWeb.
I understand that if I drag a photo into a media placeholder (such as the blog pages), that the photo is automatically re-sized for that drop zone. (Is that correct?)
If I drag a picture to a spot on a blank page, and then drag corners to make the picture appear the size I want it to be, is the picture condensed to the necessary size digitally so that download and storage is appropriate?
Any knowledge shared will be so appreciated! My site will eventually be pretty bulky, so I need to start this out right, and not have 5 MB pictures on there if I only need KB pictures.

Silly me. I answered my own question--I tried it, and then right clicked on the pictures from the browser, and it resized my 5 MB pictures down to 35 KB and they look great.
    How freakin' easy!
    I love this mac!

  • IPod iTouch will not start

My iPod iTouch froze during sync and now won't start.  I tried resetting it by holding down HOME button and LOCK button at the same time for 10 seconds, but nothing happened after many tries.  I tried plugging it to other USB ports, I tried 2 different USB wires, I tried two docking stations and the original power adapter, but nothing will bring it back to life.  Should I just bring it in?  I think it has a 1 year warranty (battery only?) and I bought it at Target last Christmas.  Any thoughts?

I am having the same problem. I've had the iPod a little over a month, it's bought off craigslist brandnew still in the package. I went to a baseball game and everything was fine. I got on the bus and was on the iPod using it when it out of no where reset itself and when it turned back on the connect to itunes logo appeared. So i reset and it did the same thing so i figured i would just shut it off and plug it in when i got home, however when I went to do that it was unresponsive. It wont respond to another reset and itunes wont recognize it the computer wont even pick it up..so I'm guessing mine is most likely a hardware failure. Which is covered by the warranty..however like i said I bought mine off a site like ebay. But it was brand new so i dont think it was tampered with. I'm hoping someone will respond to this to help.

  • Help using ipod for photos, music, and video

Guys, I received an IPOD classic 80gig months ago with a college class that I took. I thought it was really neat at the time as I could watch the videos. However, now I'm so glad that it came free with the class and honestly can't understand how anyone can figure out how to operate it. I have photos, music, and videos that I would love to download to the IPOD and watch but after months of reading and rereading the IPOD features guide, I still have no clue how to do it? I'm a college graduate, made the Dean's list. Smart guy, doesn't seem to help me. The features guide will tell you to go to this folder, etc, BUT when I plug my IPOD in there are only like 4 folders that exist! Where are those folders that they are talking about?? I downloaded some photos on my computer into a folder, dragged and dropped them onto my ipod and when I turn the ipod on it says NO PHOTOS!! Same thing happened with my videos and my music? I have a relative in a nursing home who wants me to show her some family photos. I wanted to IPOD those photos and bring them to her. Can't figure it out! Audiobooks??? No way I'll ever figure out how to do that! Are you guys ALL BRAIN SCIENTISTS OR WHAT???

Thanks Neil, for trying to help me put. I actually figured out how to use the notes. I couldn't believe it worked. I was disappointed to see my notes "cut off" as I guess it has a 4000 character limit, I believe it is. Maybe I'll do a search for itunes software on google and try to figure it out. I don't know if the itunes software is free. You know, not for nothing Neil, but I'm suprised an IPOD classic costs over $250.00 and all they give you is a quick start guide. You have to go to the internet to find a copy of the features guide. That's like buying a new car and not getting an owners manual with it. Odd. Thanks again for trying to help me out.

My iPod itouch when plugged into computer just flashes the apple logo otherwise it just won't start. Try to reset -nothing.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
