IPod iTouch will not start

My iPod iTouch froze during sync and now won't start.  I tried resetting it by holding down HOME button and LOCK button at the same time for 10 seconds, but nothing happened after many tries.  I tried plugging it to other USB ports, I tried 2 different USB wires, I tried two docking stations and the original power adapter, but nothing will bring it back to life.  Should I just bring it in?  I think it has a 1 year warranty (battery only?) and I bought it at Target last Christmas.  Any thoughts?

I am having the same problem. I've had the iPod a little over a month, it's bought off craigslist brandnew still in the package. I went to a baseball game and everything was fine. I got on the bus and was on the iPod using it when it out of no where reset itself and when it turned back on the connect to itunes logo appeared. So i reset and it did the same thing so i figured i would just shut it off and plug it in when i got home, however when I went to do that it was unresponsive. It wont respond to another reset and itunes wont recognize it the computer wont even pick it up..so I'm guessing mine is most likely a hardware failure. Which is covered by the warranty..however like i said I bought mine off a site like ebay. But it was brand new so i dont think it was tampered with. I'm hoping someone will respond to this to help.

    Hi,
Have you tried a hard reset of your iPod?  Press/hold the home and sleep/wake buttons down until the Apple logo appears.
    Hope this helps!

  • IPod Touch will not start completely or connect to iTunes

Ipod touch (about 15 months old), will not fully start.  I can get it to shut down by holding the power and home buttons,
When I turn it back on, I will see the Apple logo for a few seconds and then see the clockwise spinning circle.  The circle will spin for hours with nothing else happening.
I tried connecting it to iTunes and it recognizes it has been attached, but it is asking for the passcode.  I can't get the iPod to the passcode enter screen.
Any ideas?  I have no idea if and when if was last updated as it is my nephews.
    Any help is appreciated.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Does anyone have a solution for a 3G iPod that will completely not start up. I have tried holding the buttons for extended periods of time and nothing seems to work. If no solution, am I completely out of luck being that the device is more than a year old?

If it is still charging using the wall adapter, let it charge for about 10min, then connect in recovery mode, explained here: iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to restore

  • Ipod Nano will not Start unless resetted  everytime

    Hello Nano world'
My Nano just started to act strange
One night I fell asleep with the Nano on (with the sleep timer set to 60 minutes) I had just charged it via the computer USB. I woke up the next morning and tried to turn it on ... No luck.
Tried to reset (center button +menu) apple logo came on worked fine
I turned it off. Tried turning on no luck again...
Tried reset ..came on again only stayed on for a few minutes (battery icon showed more than 3/4 green)
Couldn't turn on again ... tried reset but this time instead of apple icon ,it showed battery with ! mark
Is it possible that the USB charger doesnt have quite the power to fully charge the Nano?
So in short the only way to turn on is by the reset method
and some times it shows the battery ! icon
PS did the latest update on the nano and did a factory reset
    Thanks

    Hi
    Thanks for the quick reply
I went out and bought i Ipod AC charger thinking that it might be the USB port not supplying enough power
First I plugged it in the charger Everything seemed normal at this point The charging icon appeared .. I could turn it off and on like normal(holding the play/pause button.
I went away for about 10 minutes. Tried turning it on normally ,, didn't work.. tried a reset (center button+menu) now it won't even turn on at all
The only wierd thing that comes to mind when it was working for the short time is that I tried setting the clock several times; it would set itself back to 1:55 AM after about 5 tries
I am really starting to lose faith in this product
I used to have a BenQ MP3 player never one problem
This is the 4th Nano that I have gone through
Hope I can get this resolved
    Thanks
    Norm

  • My iPod Touch will not start up

I went to the bathroom and put my ipod touch on my bed. Before I put it down it was working perfectly!! When I returned my Ipod wouldn't turn on, I tried to charge it on my ipod touch charger through the outlet in my room which works good, and I tried to charge it through my laptop and base computer. I do not know what to do. If anyone has any idea PLEASE HELP ME!!

Try a hard reset of the iPod.  To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear. This may take one or two tries.

Yes, your battery is likely toast and in need of replacement.  Not much else for troubleshooting here.  Sorry.
