Ipod/itunes issues!!!!!!!!!

I have an ipod shuffle and am unable to do anything with it. I can't update the songs, restore it, etc. Same thing with my wife's ipod nano. I'm also unable to burn cds from itunes.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Right now, your post is very vague as to what the issues might be. We need to know EXACTLY what is going on including any error codes or messages. It would be helpful to post what version of iTunes you are using. When you say you can't burn CD's, again, any error codes or messages when you have failed burns. You basically need to provide as much information as you possibly can so someone can try to help you.

  • Super Annoying iPod + iTunes Issue

I'm running Windows XP, updated and running the latest iTunes.
I got my iPod Nano about a week ago and installed the iPod + iTunes software on my labtop (Windows XP). When I was able to, I wanted to install the iPod + iTunes software to my primary pc (Windows XP). I already had iTunes/Quicktime installed on my main pc.
When I went to hook up the iPod it said: "The software required for communicating with the iPod is not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes to install the iPod's software." I went to Add/Remove programs and iTunes wasnt on the list; so I went and deleted it manually from my C Drive > Program Files. I installed iTunes again and my iPod software and it said the same message. I reinstalled iTunes and tried again. Still, the same message. I un-installed QuickTime, iTunes and the iPod software and deleted anything remaining. I tried it again... and the SAME exact message came again.
I'm extremely irritated with this. And I've wasted 3 or 4 hours going back and forth trying to get this to work. I haven't got any other error messages either.
    Can someone please help me?

  • More iPod/iTunes Issues...

I've read posts from a few other people who have had problems with their iPod declaring itself full eventhough it isn't and I've seen the 'restore your iPod' tip in each thread. I gave this a try (seeing as I'm having the same issue) to no avail. My iPod currently has 687 items on it (this is after A LOT of deleting to get the iTunes library to fit) and is at 3.66 GB.
Given that minis are supposed to hold 1,000 songs how can I be full and so far from that number? Anyone have any ideas why? Or ways to help me tweak my iPod or iTunes so I can get everything loaded?
    Any help is appreciated!

    "So what's the best option?"
There is no "best" option, it's what suits you best. Apple would recommend you use the AAC format, and I would choose 160kbps as the bitrate. But that's just me. A bitrate less than that compromises sound quality to my ears, but you may not notice any difference between that and a bitrate of 128kbps. If you don't, then use the lower bitrate, and you'll get more songs on your iPod.
From my own point of view, I don't buy into this "AAC sounds better than mp3" mantra that many people preach here on the forums.
Don't let anyone tell you what to use. Use your own ears to decide what's best for you.

  • Video iPod/iTunes Issue

    I have two issues here...
One: I've been searching through this forum and others trying to find a way to fix this, and I'm hoping someone can (pretty please) help me out here.
I'm running iTunes 7.2 on Vista, and for some reason iTunes keeps closing down on me whenever I right click on a video link and go to "Get Info" so I can change the name of what I've got.
The video files are ones that I've ripped from DVDs that I've bought, and I want to put them on my iPod so that I can actually get to watch them (since I'm not home all the time).
And two: I tried installing iTunes over itself, and now it'll go through the the "Updating Library," and it gets almost to the end before my Vista pops up the "iTunes must close down" deal, without any error message.
Any suggestions on how to fix these?

Have you tried using the Create iPod and iPhone Version in the Advanced tab of iTunes? That opion is made to convert most formates to the iPod and iPhone compatible formats.

  • IPod/iTunes issue with Fast User Switching

I have Fast User Switching enabled on my iMac Core 2 Duo running 10.4.8. My daughter usually leaves her iPod connected and it is causing problems when switching to another user. Other users get the message that the connected iPod is associated with another iTunes Music Library and constantly asks if it should be erased. While nothing has happened yet, there are 4 of us using this and I think it's only a ametter of time before somebody inadvertantly blows away her iPod.
Is there any way to disable this this?

Let me try to elicit a more helpful response...
One of the problems I am encountering with an iPod connected and using fast user switching is that if the iPod is syncing with one user, and I switch to another user, the second user sometimes will try to take control of the iPod and sync with the second user's library.
Is there a way to tell Mac User's 2 account to ignore User 1's iPod?

  • Updating ipod/itunes issue

I added many songs to itunes that I didn't want on the ipod. I unchecked the boxes but when the ipod was connected it automatically updated the ipod and included all of the songs. Was there another step I was supposed to do?
    Thanks, JIm

    Hi Jim,
Another way to do it is to set up Smart Playlists that sync to your iPod.
That way you won't have to go around un-checking boxes.

    Colin R.

  • IPod/iTunes issue

Ok, so I updated to iTunes 7, and as nice as it is, I do think I like 6 better, but anyway. It told me something to the effect of: "Update your iPod in the next 30 seconds or you will be hunted down and beat to death with your computer mouse!".... Ok, so it wasn't that drastic, it just told me there was an update. So I update, it does it's thing, restarts, and then reconnects to my computer. Nice new interface, tells me how much space is taken up in a much nicer way now, and there's games. Then, I noticed something wrong. You see, when my iPod is connected to my computer, it now has decided to leave the backlight on. It's dim to save power, but it's still on. This is reeeeeaaaalllllyyy annoing. How do I make it stay off like it used to?

  • When I plug in iPod - iTunes crashes?

Hello.. sorry if this is a repeat question. I lost track of my user i.d. and couldn't track down my question. Anyways, when I plug in my ipod - iTunes loads as usual. However, it crashes and says "this application has failed" or something like that. Usually, my ipod would say "ipod is updating". Now it just sticks with "do not disconnect". My actual files are all still in the ipod - files and the songs are still in itunes. But when i look at the music directory in my ipod - it's empty (due to the no updating thing). It's driving me crazy. I've tried a couple of earlier suggestions and they didn't work. I've uninstalled itunes and re-installed it and that didn't work. I was hoping i wouldn't have to reformat my ipod but if that's what it will take I guess that's that. Thank you very much in advance for any suggestions!

p.s. off topic I know, but since I have your attn.. I have a bigger problem too. All my files (college work for a portfolio!) were dragged in the trash and i hit "empty trash" - so now I'm screwed. I know trash isn't truly trashed so if anybody knows the step by step process on how to recover it I'd be grateful. Thank you for reading.

    Hello. The message was:
"The application iTunes has unexpectedly quit. The system and other applications have not been affected."
I haven't gotten around to trying the link out yet becuase I'm still scannning it for my deleted files. Thank you for any other additional help regarding my ipod/itunes issue.

  • Ipod Nano skipping songs... IPod or ITunes issue?

I purchased an IPod Nano and signed up for ITunes. I purchased a CD from ITunes and synced it with my IPod. That worked fine except for one huge issue - the IPod skips right over 5 out of the 12 songs on the CD! The songs play fine through my computer (Windows XP Pro SP2), just not on the IPod.
Is this an IPod issue or an ITunes issue? Has anyone dealt with this before?

  • ITunes 10.1 Upgrade on Windows 7, iPod Service issue

I am upgrading from iTunes 10.0.0.68 (64 bit version) to iTunes 10.1 (64 bit version) on my Windows 7. After some time the popup error message reads,
Service 'iPod Service' (Pod Service) could not be installed. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to install system services
I aborted the installation. Roll back action took place and I am continuing with iTunes
Now when I run iTunes, the message says,
The software required for communicating with iPods and mobile phones was not installed correctly. Do you want iTunes to try to repair this for you?
I clicked on Yes. Then iTunes application opened with the message "Could not delete service" (the title of the window is 'iPod Service')
How do I fix this problem? I want to upgrade to iTunes 10.1 as I want to upgrade my iPad to iOS 4.2

Now, based on your latest response I did the right-click, install as Administrator. The result unfortunately is the same.
Okay ... let's try a modified version of the instructions from the following document. (The modification is because they aren't precisely accurate for 64-bit systems ... the program files that could potentially be left on your system by the unmodified instructions wouldn't normally be relevant to an iPod Service issue, but you're getting a relatively rare variation on iPod Service trouble. So, just in case ...)
If you get any error messages during any of the uninstalls, deletions or reinstalls, note down what they say and post back with the precise text, please.
    Here's the document:

    ... here's the modification:
When you get to *step 9* of the *Verify iTunes and related components are completely uninstalled* section, proceed instead with the following instructions:

Note: If you have a 64-bit version of the Windows OS, continue with step #10. Otherwise, skip to step #17.
    (10) Open the Program Files (x86) folder.
    (11) Right-click the iTunes folder (if it still exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion.
    (12) Right-click the iPod folder, choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
    (13) Right-click the QuickTime folder (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
    (14) Right-click the Bonjour folder (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
    (15) Open the Common Files folder.
    (16) Right-click the Apple folder (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
    (17) Open Local Disk (C:) located in Computer or whichever hard disk your operating system is installed on.
    (18) Open the Windows folder.
    (19) For 32-bit versions of Windows: Open the System32 folder.
For 64-bit versions of Windows: Open the Syswow64 folder.
    (20) Right-click the QuickTime file (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
    (21) Right-click the QuickTimeVR file (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
    (22) Right-click the Recycle Bin and choose Empty Recycle Bin.
Now restart the PC and try another iTunes reinstall.
Any better luck with that attempt?

  • Ipod/itunes freezes when connected

I have a new 80GB IPOD and recently converted some videos to import to it. It now seems that whenever I connect the IPOD, ITUNES will open and attempt to sync, but it freezes. I cannot eject the IPOD or otherwise close ITUNES, the only way to get out is to use Windows to manually shut the program down. Are there some settings that I may not have correctly set? I do have the videos in proper format for the IPOD, so this isn't the issue. If anyone else has experienced this or can offer some assistance, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

I was having a similar issue. My solution turned out to be remapping the iPod to a different drive letter, as it was using the same drive letter as another removable drive.

  • Several iTunes Issues

Any help would be incredibly appreciated. I've had problems with iTunes for the last several months to no avail.
To start off, I've had a couple iPod Touch issues. For example, iTunes says that it's a 4GB and it's full, when it's actually 16GB. When I plug it in, it says that there's a missing file or the iPod doesn't exist. To remedy this, I've tried restoring my iPod back to factory defaults, and I also tried reformatting my computer - honestly, nothing has worked. In addition to this, my iPod Touch's apps open for about ~2seconds and then immediately close, and my music will play a single song and when it's continuing onto the next song in the queue, it will also play for a few seconds and then close. I do not have problems with my iPod Nano, or a friend's regular iPod. I've returned my iPod to be fixed twice (I have a Future Shop warranty), for it to come back both times with only the battery changed and the second time, the screen came back somewhat separated from the edge and the light from the screen was coming through it. Can't have my iPod replaced until it's been sent out a fourth time with the Future Shop warranty, but I'm getting pretty frustrated.
I downloaded ~200 podcasts last night, and now iTunes is not even recognizing that my iPod is plugged in at all, and it's continuously freezing once I've minimized it. I'm totally stumped and I don't know what to do next - I've tried everything.
I know that this is the iTunes forum, I'm just trying to elaborate as much as I can (maybe my iPod problem is somehow related to my iTunes.. sigh).
Any and all suggestions are absolutely welcome. I'm willing to try anything at this point.
    Thanks for reading,
    Kay

I have reinstalled it now and it says I've had 2 errors within the last hour.
The Apple Mobile Device service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 60000 milliseconds: Restart the service.
Product: iTunes -- This iTunes installer is intended for 32-bit versions of Windows. Please download and install the 64-bit iTunes installer instead.
The second one I fixed by downloading the 64-bit iTunes instead - so that shouldn't be an issue anymore.
iTunes is still not automatically syncing my iPod Touch, and File>Sync iPod is grayed out and I cannot select it.
Also, just in case you are a computer person, I was wondering what this meant. My e-mail and various accounts were hacked around 2 weeks ago, so I'm kind of paranoid. Is this something I need to be worried about?:

  • IPod & iTunes Sych

Hi All - I have a 160 GB iPod Classic and 35 GB of music. This is my 3 iPod so I have several years of experience with iPods. At this point, I am only synching my music and games. There is plenty of room for all my music; however, not all of my music is synchronized.
The music that is missing are all the songs from specific artists. The unusual aspect is that many of the artists appear in one of my smart playlists starting at song ?.
I've confirmed that the "Sync music - All songs and playlists" is selected on my iPod screen. I have also restored that software on my iPod and re-sychronized without success, the same artists still do not appear on the iPod.
The Apple genius at the Valley Fair store says it's a PC/iTunes issue.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

If I understand your post correctly, some of the tracks that you think should be synched are not appearing on your iPod. Assuming it's nothing trivial like having the *Only copy checked songs* option checked and having lots of unticked tracks I can't think of any reason why they shouldn't get copied. If in doubt though, break the problem down. What happens if you uncheck all your tracks, then check one albums worth & sync? First time I tried to copy my entire libray to mine I was unhappy with the results - missing art & other stuff. In the end I wiped and started copying mine over in batches of about 1000. Worked great. If you do get problems try to determine specific files. Will they play in iTunes? Will it go on a second sync?
