Ipod-itunes synch

Whenever I plug my ipod into my mac it tells me there is an error #13014 and that my ipod cannot be synched. I'm not sure why this happens, it just happened out of the blue one day. I've always ejected my ipod before removing it and I just bought my mac about a month and a half ago. Any ideas as to what could be causing this problem and how do I go about fixing it?
Thanks,
J

I bought 20 new songs in the ITunes store but they are not in my IPOD after synching?

I'm having this same problem and can't find a solution that works in the apple support community. What's frustrating is that this used to work seamlessly with Windows. Then I bought a macbook pro and upgraded to OS X Mavericks and a lot of stuff broke.

  • My ipod wont synch with itunes,

I moved my itunes from my laptop to my pc using the ipod as a hard disk, and now my ipod wont synch, sometimes it starts and then just hangs and says cannot copy blah blah blah due to an unkown errer 50. When i run the diagnostics the ipod cannot be found but it shows up in the list on the left of itunes and attempts to synch. Any help would be much appreciated as im desperate to get it working again, i only moved my itunes from my laptop because it is dieing and did'nt want to lose all my music, it seems that i may have inadvertantly lost it anyway!

Hi, thank you for the reply, unfortunetly i have tried all the suggestions on that link (and quite a few more).
The message is completely random as to whether its a download from the itunes store or something i have imported or a cd that i have added to my itunes. I have got to a point now where it will synch a certain amount of tracks (or photo's, books, etc) and then just give me an -50 message regardless of what it is i am trying to synch, my 80gb classic has now become a 50mb classic!

  • ITunes 7.3.2 (OSX) and 5th Gen iPod not synching

I have had my 5th gen iPod (30GB) for about 2 years now and originally had used it with Windows, then I switched over to a Mac in Feb and have been pretty happy. Normally i synch my iPod daily to get my playlists updated (so I don't listen to the same thing all the time) and so I can get new Podcasts that were downloaded. Before I left for work this morning, I was able to synch my iPod with no problem, when I was about to synch it before I went to bed, it will not synch. When I try to put in the iPod, iTunes then crashes. I try to put in the iPod and let iTunes open automatically, it loads then crashes again. I have rebooted both the Mac and did a reset on my iPod, but can't even perform a restore since before iTunes would pop up the iPod section, it crashes first. it IS mac formatted. i don't know what is going on and what chnged from this morning to this evening and why suddenly it doesn't work.
    Anyone have any suggestions?

I deleted both iTunes and Quicktime7, emptied the trash, restarted, then reinstalled QT then iTunes. Still getting the same issue. Still "crashing" when the iPod is connected.
This is some of the information from the bug report that I thought might be helpful to figure out what went wrong (didn't want to include ALL the crash report, so I just included the info before the "thread crashed" details and the system info at the bottom):

  • I can't get my ipod to synch with my conmuter or itunes.  But my kids are able to synch their ipods.

I can't get my ipod to synch with my computer or itunes.  I've checked the USB ports, my ipod is charged and my kids are able to get their ipods to synch.

Have you tried using a different known working USB cable? Are you plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.o port on the back of your PC?  What happens if you reset the device with it still connected to your PC? To do this, toggle the hold switch on and then off, then press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
Otherwise, try removing all other USB devices (minus the keyboard and mouse if applicable) and reboot your PC. Then reconnect your iPod after opening iTunes.  Any luck there?
What happens if you connect it to another PC or Mac running iTunes. Is it recognized there?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
When it says place the iPod in recovery mode use one of these programs:

    If necessary:
    Download QTMLClient.dll & iTunesMobileDevice.dll for RecBoot

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • ITunes won't synch 80 songs at 128 kbps despite having 5.5 GB of space on iPod. iTunes or iPod error?

My 4th gen 30 GB iPod has 5.5 GB of space on it (this is what iTunes says before I hit sync). I want to add about 80 songs to be automatically downconverted to 128 kbps. When I try to update iPod, iTunes indicates iPod is overcapacity by over 19 GB and won't add new songs. Something is not right with either iTunes or iPod. Is anyone else having the same problem?
All I have is music on the iPod. No apps, no games, no movies, just music.
I just subscribed to iTunes Match. Could this be the reason why this is happening? Is anyone else having the same problem?

I'm having similar problems. Up until 4 May 2009 when I installed Windows 7 RC1 on it, I had one XP SP3 PC which was running iTunes properly and syncing and autofilling my iPod shuffle. The laptop described below no longer let me run or re-install itunes on it since I upgraded it to XP SP3. When I switched to Windows 7 RC1 on the XP desktop that was running iTunes properly, I was able to re-authorize that PC for iTunes 8.1 (64 bit) but after that, could not sync nor autofill, nor restore the ipod, but I could buy songs and play all my songs under Windows 7 RC1. Yesterday (Friday 15 May 2009) I got a new HP Compaq 6735s 2 GB RAM 160 MB HD, Vista Home Basic laptop and today installed a fresh download of iTunes 8.1 on it. Now that laptop won't let me even authorize iTunes on it. Any time I do anything in iTunes that involves contacting the web, it comes back with unknown error -3212 unable to contact server. This comes up when I try to authorize, and when I try to play some of my purchased songs on the laptop -- it demands that I authorize the laptop then tells me I can't (error -3212). Also when I try to restore the ipod, I get the same -3212 error trying to get to the update server. I turned off both the windows firewall and stopped the McAfee firewall but that didn't help. I renamed the Hosts file also without result. There doesn't appear to be a tech support email address or trouble reporting web form that can be used to report this and the search and troubleshooting FAQs on the itunes website seem to be pretty useless in resolving this. The phone numbers are either sales related or they want $59 an incident to give me a call back. Seems like Apple is drifting into the Yahoo and Google approach to tech support -- basically, "discuss your problems among yourselves, suckers, we're too busy raking in the cash to bother with your problems."

  • IPod / iTunes Photo Synch

Anyone have an answer to problem of iPod not synching with photos? Have some photos on iPod, added photos to my designated synch folder but they do not transfer when I update, even with appropriate boxes checked. I have plenty of space (GB's!).

  • How can I move my iPod iTunes Music Folder from C: drive to a New Drive?

Running out of space on my PC's C: drive, so I tried moving all the folder to my new E: drive ie: (E:\My Music 2\iTunes).
ALSO set iTunes (Edit/Preferences/Advanced/iTunes Music Folder location to E:\My Music 2\iTunes - but nothing seems to help!)
All of the files couldn't find the source files, unless I pointed to them one by one.
Can't move them all back because they are about 7GB+, and I now only have about 5.5 GB on my C: drive.
And when I just went to open iTunes again, all my libraries don't even show.
I'm afraid to plug in my ipod for synching until I get this straight, for fear of messing that up too.
    Please advise.

To move your iTunes music to an external drive...
    1 Quit iTunes.
2 Move the entire iTunes folder including music to
    the external drive.
In point #2 do you mean move the entire Program File folder of iTunes or just the "My Documents" iTunes library folder?
I have a full laptop, a big iPod and an external HD, I am trying to figure out how to store my library on the HD, but access it as if it were on the laptop.
I moved my iTunes library to the HD and then in iTunes I used the "add folder to library" function, but it brought all of the song files back onto the laptop.
How do you iPod gurus configure your setup with comp, HD and iPod? I need some guidance, my methods are not working.

  • Can anyone help me with iPod/iTunes syncing problems after recent software update?

    Hi there,
I wonder if anyone can help me.  Last week I updated my iPod to the latest software (8.2).  Today I deleted some albums from iTunes and added a few others.  I also made some changes to a few of my playlists.  I then synched iTunes and my iPod.  However the synching has not worked.
When I connect my iPod, it shows up in iTunes pretty instantly.  When I click on sync, I can see in iTunes that it is syncing and also on my iPod, but the changes do not appear on my iPod afterwards.  Also, after the first syncing attempt, I lost two-thirds of my album cover art.  So, I lost covert art, but no other changes were made.  The albums I deleted from iTunes are still on my iPod and the ones I added to iTunes are not on my iPod.
I have looked at the music on my iPod while connected to iTunes.   I can see the songs/albums I have added are there, but they appear in grey and have a doted circle (to the left) next to them.  This shows that they have not synched (I guess).
I have already restarted my McBook Pro and iPod a few times.  I synched my iPod with iTunes after every restart, but it has not made any difference.  I also deleted the music I added to iTunes and added it again.  I synched iTunes and my iPod after this, but it has made no difference.
    I would appreciate any suggestions.
    Many thanks
    Summary:
    Updated iPod to iOS 8.2.

iTunes and iPod show they are synching, but changes to not appear on iPod.
Also lost cover art on iPod after synching.
    Products:
    iPod Touch, latest generation
    iTunes 12.1.0.50

Thank you for your reply.  I followed your suggestion and restored my iPod to its factory settings.  I then restored it from a backup file.  All the problems have been resolved.  Quite incredible that I had to go through that process to fix it.  I hope Apple will find a solution to the iTunes problem soon.

  • IPod not synching as "there is not enough free space" (but there is)

I have a 64Gb iPod touch which I have been having problems with since I bought it.  The problem I am going to decribe has happened three times.
To the best of my memory, this is what has happened.
Starting with a newly purchased  iPod I synched it with my existing library.  This worked and I was able to play songs on the iPod with no problems.  The iPod still had around 8Gb left unused. A few days later I imported a few (maybe 3 or 4)  new CDs into my iTunes library and hit Sync.  The Sync process got as far as step 5 of 5 and hung, I left it for a good hour and it got no further.  I think I may have switched everything off and on again and then retried, this time I got a dialog box saying that the iPod cannot be synched because there is not enough free space to hold all the items in the iTunes library (additional 40Gb required).
Looking on the iPod I could see the full track listing for all my albums, but everything now had a red circle with a dot inside, and was un-playable.  It's as if the songs were all still on the iPod (taking up disk space) but the index had somehow lost track of them (or something).
The only thing I could think of was to reset and restore the device, I also deleted and re-created the iTues library and started again, re-importing everything. Again, this worked fine until I later on inported a new CD to the library and tried to re-sync, whereupon exactly the same thing happened.
I have not been able to find any support questions with quite the same problem I am having - has anyone encountered anything similar and have a solution?

It does have a red circle inside, but I am on Windows 7 and have not upgraded anything.
My problem looks similar to this one Re: iTunes library disappeared, re-added all my songs now iPod doesn't have enough free space to sync.
I can solve it by a compete restore and resync but when I try to add something and sync again I get the same problem and it seems like the only think to be done is to restore everything again, which clearly I can't do every time I add a new CD!

  • "iPod classic synched with a different library" error

I get an error saying that my iPod is synched to another library - but I can't get that library to display the contents!! When I open my iTunes, the library is empty and I get the error message. How do I get the original library back (i.e. to display) instead of the current (empty) one?? I have over 42GB of music!!
    Anyone???

    Sorry about the delay, chris.
no actually, just replace the "owner's iPod" name in the error message with the name of the shuffle...etc. but the rest of the message is the same.
Thank you kindly. That rules out a possible complication/ramification of a Windows drive letter confusion (that can cause the name of a different ipod to appear when an ipod is plugged in).
Backtracking to something from your initial post:
that was the library that existed each time I pulled up iTunes... now, no library of songs is listed, and none of my playlists are on the computer, unless I have my iPod connected to it.
What I'm wondering here is if someone has accidentally created a second library on the PC in your user account, as per:
How to open an alternate iTunes Library file or create a new one
If you have multiples libraries in the same user account, unless you actively choose to open a different library during the start-up process, by default the last library that was open in iTunes is the one that will open when you next launch iTunes. So if a new blank library was created, and that blank library screen was open when iTunes was closed, that blank library would keep coming up each time iTunes was launched in the ordinary fashion. (And your ipods would say that they were synced to a different library if you connected them while the new blank library was open.)
So, next time you open iTunes, try choosing a library (as per the document I linked to earlier) and see if you can find your previous library. If the original library was in the default location, the following document may help with locating its .itl file:
What are the iTunes Library files?
Can you find another library file, with your music in it?

  • Ipod is synching Other Files

My Ipod/Itunes seems to be creating it's own files during synch. My music library is stored on my NAS drive Y:. It's about 52 GB.
My 60GB Ipod however, is synch-ing huge amounts of Other files all of a sudden - up to 19 GB of Other files.
After some investigation, I can see on the Ipod a large number of files that are named in the same syntax of four capital letters.mp3, such as:
    AFQH.mp3
    AMOC.mp3
    AMUR.mp3
    etc.
These files do not exist in my music library, though when I double click on them Itunes will play the song fine - they appear to be full duplicates of other songs in my library.
I've restored the Ipod several times now, even re-naming it once. I did an experiment with only synch-ing 2 files and that worked fine.
I have Itunes set to only copy music - there is no video or other files to copy.
Has anyone seen this before or know what is the solution? I figure I'm going to need a larger Ipod soon, but I don't want a new one to start synching 19 GB of Other...
By the way, my synch of selected files/lists only to my Iphone works fine.
    Thanks!

My ipod is doing this too!!! I can't figure out what is happening. It seems that every time I sync my ipod it synced .02GB of other content all by itself. At one point, the other content disappeared on it's own, but that was months ago. Now I have over 2GB of other content on my itouch (8GB). Not cool. Let me know if you hear of how to get rid of it.
