Ipod Itunes uploading issues? helppp?

soo i had this problem before in the past but it was resolved. basically whats up is that my when i sync my songs to my ipod they transfer over, however now a big chunk of artists which use to show up on my ipod under the artist name now doesnt... however if i look under songs or albums i find the entire album or song i want... its quite annoying considering i have about 30 gigs of music on my ipod but yet im limited between which artists i want to listen to because they dont show up under the artists section.. please help if you can?

Hi Connie Valdovinos,
Likely, these songs/albums are marked as being a part of a compilation in itunes. The compilation setting is used to "unify" a various artist CD into one album so it shows up in coverflow (ipod) only once, otherwise, it shows up as many times as there are artists.
I'm assuming you have Windows. If not, just translate these instructions into Mac.
For individual songs:
In itunes, select a song. Right-Click > Get Info > Info. Lower right, uncheck "Part of a compilation".
For multiple songs:
In itunes. Click on the first song, shift-click on the last. Right-Click the whole selection. A prompt will appear asking "are you sure you want to modify multiple items"? Click "Yes". Bottom left of the new window, set "Compilation" to "No".
After this, sync your ipod, all your artist should now appear under the artist list in your ipod.

  • Help with slightly complicated iPod/iTunes library issue

I have an older iPod with about 80 gig of music and videos on it, all legally acquired through the iTunes store or via my own CD collection.
I would like to transfer the music of this library (which does not match the current contents of my current iPod touch and iTunes library) to my wife's laptop (currently running 10.4.11) so she can access music from it for her iPod nano.
Issue #1: is there a good third-party app. that would allow such a transfer?
Issue #2: there is not enough hard drive space on the laptop to accept an 80 gig library transfer...how could I set that up on an external drive?
Thanks for any help you can give.

Is there a better forum in which I can post this problem?
Or perhaps it has already been answered elsewhere? Could you point me in that direction?
    Thanks...

  • Ipod & Itunes Volume Issue

    Hi,
I am having a problem with my iPod volume. It was not loud enough when the volume was turned up even halfway (barely audible). Only when I crank the volume to the max is it loud, but when I turn it down, to even three quarters it is not loud enough.
So, I ended up updating to the latest version with the ipod updater, and added some more tracks to my ipod from iTunes. Now, iTunes is doing the same thing when I listen to the tracks on my computer! Even when I play a cd through iTunes, it is not very loud, but when I play the same cd through Windows Media Player, the volume is correct, and the sound is great.
So, I think the volume issue on the iPod is now transferred to iTunes.
    How do I fix this?
I have a brand new computer, and havent had any problems with this before. I have the 60GB iPod Photo.
    thanks!

No, I checked that. Its weird, in that the volume was too low on the iPod and it was fine on my computer, but when I updated my iPod it transferred to iTunes and now it is acting the same way.
I dont know what else to try! help!

  • Ipod mini uploading issues

    Hi there.
Ive search and read pages upon pages to see if any other folks have had this problem. It seems that I am not alone (thank goodness) but even after lots of trouble shooting I can not seem to get my iPod mini to load songs.
Ive reset my factory settings three times. My iTunes is up to date as well as my software for the ipod mini. The error message that I get EVERY TIME I plug in my iPod mini in is "You do not have enough space on your iPod".
I have my settings set to only clicked songs - which the clicked songs is probably half the amount that would fit onto the mini (its a 4GB). I used to be able to at least drag songs into the ipod mini but it wont let me add any songs now. So with nothing in my ipod (really, I just set it back to factory settings) it tells me I dont have enough free space.
    Help!

  • IPod/iTunes updateing issues

    I have an iPod mini, and windows xp, my problem is thus;
I had another computer, on it, I kept my iTunes library. Said computer died. Horribly.
Now I have a new computer, I have put new songs on it. The songs on my new computer are not the same ones on my iPod, and the songs on my iPod are not on my new computer. Is there any way of putting the songs on my new computer onto my iPod without eraseing the songs already there?

If your iPod is set to update automatically take care when connecting back to your computer and a different iTunes. If it is set to automatically update you will get a message that your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press *No*. Pressing "Yes" will irretrievably remove all songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it.
You can also use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys (on a Mac hold down the Option and Command (⌥ and ⌘) keys). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer. Then go to Preferences>iPod and check the "Manually manage songs and playlists" box: Managing Your Songs Manually
If you want to copy the songs on your iPod to the new computer there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs but not playlists back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward.
iPod Access Mac and Windows Versions
    YamiPod Mac and Windows Versions
    PodUtil Mac and Windows Versions
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
    PodPlayer Windows Only
    iGadget Windows Only
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync again. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up in case you have problems again. External drives are quite cheap these days and you can get loads of storage for quite a small outlay.

  • Ipod-itunes sync issues

When I plugged in my ipod to my PC, I got the message "ipod is corrupted." I restored the settings, and now when I try and transfer music from my itunes to my ipod, I receive the message "the ipod cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found." What is the required file that is lost, and where can I find and restore it so that I can continue to put my music from my itunes back on my ipod? Thanks.

When I had the (-69) error message it turned out to just be a corrupt file. If you watch the synch process (esp more than once) the song it stops synching on is usually the culprit. Once I got rid of that it was fine.

  • IPod/ITunes Possible Issue

Hello, my laptop recently crashed and I wasn't able to collect any of my files of the machine. I have since purchased a new laptop and installed and registered ITunes. I have my music library stored on an external HD. Do I need to import that file into the new ITunes installation before I sync my IPod. Reason, none of my music files are currently showing in the library

Yes. You'll need to re-import the music on the external hard drive into iTunes first before you sync your iPod.
If you backed all of the iTunes files (versus just backing up just the music files), you can simply point iTunes at the iTunes library stored on your external HD.  See this article for instructions on opening an alternate iTunes library.

  • My new iPod Classic will not sync with my new Mac Book. My iPhone 5 does, so does 2nd gen. iPod touch. Apple Store cannot figure it out. Tried different Classics on different Macs, same thing. iTunes update issue ?

The iPod Classic I bought a month ago is not synching with my new Mac Book I bought 3 weeks ago. All the software was immediately updated. My iPhone 5 synchs fine, and so does my 2nd generaton iPod Touch. The original computer I synched all of these devices on was my HP latop. I bought my Mac and Classic to the Apple Store for a 'Genius Appt' and they could not figure out what the problem is. The connected my Classic to another computer and the same thing happens. It says device is not recognized. They also took other iPod Classics and connected them to my Mac and other Macs. The same thing was happening. They took notes and said it probably is an iTunes update issue.
I can manually drag songs into my Classic but I lost all playlists because it cannot be backed up as well and they had to restore it. For now I am holding on to it but it's usless to me if I cannot use it the way I liked too. I used it for the gym and bike riding and my last iPod battery died after 6 years. A charge would last 45 miutes. I love the Classic for what I use it for but it's a $275 brick to me now. At least the renewed by receipt so I can get a full refund.
Is anyone else seeing this issue ? The Apple Store employee said he saw a first generation iPad havng the same issue. As of now the Support Dest is unaware of this. As much as I love my new Mac I am disappointed I cannot sync my new Classic to it. Total bummer.
    Any help would be apprecated.

By the way, I totally restored everything. It was ok. It starts to 'unrecognize' my iPod Classic when it comes to synching with iPhoto. After this happened all the menus disappeared from my iPod (music, Podcasts, movies synched fine). It seems to be a problem when synching with iPhoto. It was the same thing before.

  • How can I resolve iPod Touch 4th gen charging and iTunes connection issue?

I have an iPod Touch 4th generation and the other day it stopped charging.  When I pug it in, it appears to be receiving a minimal charge to keep it alive, but isn't restoring the battery life and doesn't show that the battery is accepting the charge.  After plugging it in for a day, the battery was only partially charged to approximately 20%.  I've tried several USB cables and different plug-ins to no avail.
Then I tried to connect it to the computer and iTunes doesn't recognize it.  I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Apple Device Manager and iTunes software, and resetting the iPod.  I've also tried holding the sleep and home buttons at the same time while connecting the iPod to the computer with iTunes software open.  Nothing seems to work.  I have other iPods/iPhones that connect to iTunes without issue, so it is isolated event with this iPod Touch.  I was hoping to restore the iPod to its original settings to see if that would do the trick, but am unable to figure out how without iTunes.  Any suggestions?  help!

    Not Charge
    - See:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genus Bar of an Apple store.

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Super Annoying iPod + iTunes Issue

I'm running Windows XP, updated and running the latest iTunes.
I got my iPod Nano about a week ago and installed the iPod + iTunes software on my labtop (Windows XP). When I was able to, I wanted to install the iPod + iTunes software to my primary pc (Windows XP). I already had iTunes/Quicktime installed on my main pc.
When I went to hook up the iPod it said: "The software required for communicating with the iPod is not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes to install the iPod's software." I went to Add/Remove programs and iTunes wasnt on the list; so I went and deleted it manually from my C Drive > Program Files. I installed iTunes again and my iPod software and it said the same message. I reinstalled iTunes and tried again. Still, the same message. I un-installed QuickTime, iTunes and the iPod software and deleted anything remaining. I tried it again... and the SAME exact message came again.
I'm extremely irritated with this. And I've wasted 3 or 4 hours going back and forth trying to get this to work. I haven't got any other error messages either.
    Can someone please help me?

  • New version of iTunes uploads CD with horrible quality?

I just bought the Twilight soundtrack. I listened to it in the car on the way home and it sounded great. When I got home, I put it in my computer and iTunes recognized it and what not. It uploaded the songs and everything. When I listened to the songs in the upload window, they sounded great and normal. However, when I went to my library and listened AND on my iPod, the sound quality is horrible and cheap and sounds like some bad internet download.
I don't know why this happened. The rest of my library sounds fine, and the songs are only poor quality on iTunes library and my actual iPod. iTunes didn't even find any cover art!
I'm really frustrated and confused as to why this is happening. Any help?

I use the error correction selection under preferences-general-import settings and do not seem to have any trouble. It does slow down the import process but not by much. Some of the earlier versions of iTunes seem to have trouble with some of the digital rights protection software but with the more recent versions this does not seem to be an issue. There are also a couple of playback options in both the iPod and the computer iTunes playback that include "enhancing" the playback. Personally I like the off setting but many people enjoy the additional surround sound and boosted dynamics. Hope this helps, I usually scan in the cover art so am not much help for that issue.

  • Ipod wont upload songs HELP!!!

My ipod used to be able to upload my songs automatically, now for somereason it my itunes says that "an ipod is not connected".

  • Does iTunes upload music on weekends?

Hi. I was wondering if iTunes uploads music on the weekends. There is a new epic rap battles of history coming out, and it is always on iTunes early.

This isn't an issue of putting songs on that I don't want, it's that it doesn't CHANGE my music, even when I try to make it change.  I've got over 15000 songs in my iTunes; my iPod can only hold around 275 songs.  My problem, is that I can't make it "randomly" choose different songs.  when I try to change the music, it puts the same songs on over and over.
Emphasis here is on RANDOM: I do not want to have to select the music to put on my shuffle. and
CHANGE: If I only wanted to listen to the same 275 songs, I wouldn't have bothered purchasing the others...

  • When I plug in iPod - iTunes crashes?

Hello.. sorry if this is a repeat question. I lost track of my user i.d. and couldn't track down my question. Anyways, when I plug in my ipod - iTunes loads as usual. However, it crashes and says "this application has failed" or something like that. Usually, my ipod would say "ipod is updating". Now it just sticks with "do not disconnect". My actual files are all still in the ipod - files and the songs are still in itunes. But when i look at the music directory in my ipod - it's empty (due to the no updating thing). It's driving me crazy. I've tried a couple of earlier suggestions and they didn't work. I've uninstalled itunes and re-installed it and that didn't work. I was hoping i wouldn't have to reformat my ipod but if that's what it will take I guess that's that. Thank you very much in advance for any suggestions!

p.s. off topic I know, but since I have your attn.. I have a bigger problem too. All my files (college work for a portfolio!) were dragged in the trash and i hit "empty trash" - so now I'm screwed. I know trash isn't truly trashed so if anybody knows the step by step process on how to recover it I'd be grateful. Thank you for reading.

    Hello. The message was:
"The application iTunes has unexpectedly quit. The system and other applications have not been affected."
I haven't gotten around to trying the link out yet becuase I'm still scannning it for my deleted files. Thank you for any other additional help regarding my ipod/itunes issue.

  • Ipod + itunes = blue screen of death & reboot - HELP PLEASE!

I'll try to make a long story as short as possible here.
i've had a 40G ipod for over a year and a half now. back in the beginning things were working fine. with the size i hadn't done any syncing for a long long time. however, the ipod crapped out so i got a replacement from the apple store.
after registering the new ipod i was having trouble syncing. it would upload a few hundred songs and then freeze or cause a reboot. i uninstalled the ipod software as well, installed the latest itunes software - over the previous version, installed the latest ipod updater software and restored the ipod.
again, i was able to sync for brief periods in 3 different tries - amassing a whole six hundred and something songs. after each try itunes said syncing was complete (but not even close - had just over 2000 mp3s looking to sync up). unbelievably things got worse. now, if the ipod is docked and itunes is running - regardless of which is done first - my pc will get the blue screen of death and reboot itself.
also, without itunes and the ipod docked, it shows up as an i: drive, but when i try to browse it though my computer, it locks up the machine and shows nothing.
any help out there is GREATLY appreciated!
    here are my specs:
    - ipod 40 Gig, with click wheel and four buttons below the screen with
    dock & firewire cable
    - pc running windows xp pro
    - firewire card with 3 ports
    - ipod & itunes software located on 120G c: drive
    - mp3 collection located on secondary 160G d: drive
    - 3/4 gig of ram
p.s. i have mcafee running and i've tried everything with it on as well as off. doesn't seem to make a difference.
also, i have checked a TON of posts on apple.com as well as other discussion groups and couldn't find an answer.

    hi Douglas!
first promise me that you'll back up your data. having your PC shut down in non-standard ways (for
    b any
reason) increases your risk of file corruption and putting scruffy spots on your hard drive.
Now some basic first aid. download some fresh definitions and do some vigorous virus and spyware scans. run your favorite hard-disk checking utility. do a disk cleanup.
now let's follow up on the blue screen of death. Perversely, i've started to become pleased when people report BSODs under these circumstances. we can wring a lot of information from a BSOD error message. there's also usually something concrete to go on in the error logs.
    (1) what BSOD error number and message are you getting? here's a reference:
    http://aumha.org/win5/kbestop.htm
    (2) squeeze your error logs for all they're worth. right-click on "My Computer", select manage. click on your event viewer. click on your application and system logs, and look for errors and warnings happening at roughly the same time as your crashes.
click on the relevant warnings to see if you can find any commonalities in the errors/warnings. follow up the Help and Support links to see if you can find any suggested "User action" or relevant MS KB documents. (sometimes these things are there, sometimes they aren't.)
    good luck! keep us posted.
    love, b
