Ipod keeps asking to be restored

Every time I plug my ipod into my computer, I get a message saying "itunes has detected an ipod in recovery mode. you must restore this ipod before it can be used with itunes." So I have tried restoring my ipod, but I still get this same message every time I try to connect it. I have tried reinstalling itunes, and restarting my computer, and it still doesn't work! All the music has been erased from my ipod in the restoration process, but I can't connect it to my itunes to reload the music. Help!!

Have you had a chance to look at this troubleshooting page? Have a look at the bottom section that covers what to try if restoring doesn't work, it may be of some help: iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode - Use iTunes to restore

  • Ipod keeps asking me to restore over and over after updating ITunes

I opened ITunes to add some new songs, and it told me to update the latest version of ITunes, which I did, and then it told me my IPod was corrupted, and I should restore it, which I did, and now I am in that loop where it keeps telling me to restore the software. I cannot get the songs back onto my IPod. I even tried the part of changing the drive letter, and that still didn't solve my problem.
After the restore, the IPod looks okay, but whenever I plug it in to upload the songs, I get that restore error again. I see this problem over and over again, so it appears as though others are having the same problem. Can anybody help?

Can't help remembering those infamous Apple commercials where the PC guy is ridiculed. Anyway, I'll give the same model 5G/30GB one more chance. The one I got was white; maybe the blacks are better.
The fact is, these devices are indeed jammed with sensitive technology. An actual spinning hard disk that doesn't do well under vibrations or shocks, and the extra battery juice it needs are not to be ignored. I never understood why anybody would want to watch moving images on a 2-in screen to begin with. I tried to no avail to convince my son to go for iPod Nano thinking it'd be more stable with its flash memory technology (I assume that's what Nanos have). The price difference didn't make sense, and I gave in. But now, I sort of think maybe it does. Anybody with experience to put in a good word for Nano as opposed to 5G Video?

  • Ipod Keeps Asking To Power Off

Basically my iPod keeps asking me to "slide to power off", and it usually happens only when i use the speaker volume. So in order for it not to say anything i have to have the volume off.(which isn't the solution i wanna hear)
Any way I can fix this?
I've already tried restoring my iPod and i have searched Google for a solution, so far nothing. *Returning or Sending it in to Apple is not an Option* But if that's the only answer/solution then thanks.

I have this SAME problem. When I'm using my 32 gb iPod Touch, currently, it will turn off automatically, and CONSTANTLY asks me to power off. When i hit CANCEL, it will shut off. It's starting to really **** me off. I have done a restore, and yet, continues.
If anybody could help, it would be much appreciated.

All media and apps should be in iTunes on the computer.  Simply select the content desired to sync to the device and sync it.
FYI, backups have never included media or apps.

  • My ipod keeps telling me to restore it

My iPod keeps telling me to restore it from the computer. When I restore it from the computer it will turn off, and go through the restore process then the same white screen pops up saying "Please restore iPod from computer" I'll get on the computer it says it dectects a ipod in recovery mode. I have restored it 5 times and the same thing keeps popping up. does anyone know whats wrong?

Try this (and ignore the troll).
Click on control panel/admin tools/computer management/disk management/right click on the iPod to re-assign the drive letter.
Choose something lower down the alphabet, say 'M' or something similar.
The iPod can be confused by any other storage devices assigned a similar drive letter even though they may not connected at the same time.

  • Keep ask me to restore ...

my phone has restore 3 time edy ...
but it keep ask me to restore ...
cant start my phone properly ...
stuck at the picture only can emergency call and ask me to connect to itunes..
    cant receive any call ...
    line unstable ....
wat happen to my phone ...

    Try Recovery Mode:
    1. Start iTunes (10.0.1, latest version).
    2. Connect USB end of cable to a USB port on the computer, not an external hub or keyboard port.
    3. Connect dock end of cable to phone.
    4. Press both home and sleep/wake buttons until the Apple logo appears, then continue pressing the home button alone until iTunes sees the phone in Recovery Mode.
    5. Follow the prompts to Restore - Restore as a NEW iPHONE, without using a backup.
If the above doesn't work, you likely have a hardware failure that requires evaluation by Apple or whoever provides iPhone service in your location.

  • ITunes Keeps asking me to "Restore" my Ipod

I have an Ipod mini which I bought about two years ago, and I recently downloaded ITunes 7 (I just got a new computer and didn't have much choice in the matter).
Every time I hook in my IPod, it says it's in recovery mode and I need to restore it. I restored it once, wiping it clean, but it still won't permit me to use the ipod. It keeps saying it's in recovery mode and that I need to restore it.
    Please advise.
    Thanks.

  • Ipod keeps asking to restore when there's nothing wrong

Just got a new 5th Gen ipod for christmas. When I turn it on i frequently get the apple logo followed by a request to plug the ipod into the computer and restore it. When I turn it off and back on, the apple logo returns but then it goes onto the menu and the ipod works normally.
I don't want to have to restore it and start fresh, but it is annoying. Can anybody give me any tips?

No i'm keeping it on the same computer. I haven't restored it yet, i know it sounds lazy but its a bit of a hassle as I update my ipod manually so it would take a fair hour to drag all the songs back onto it.
If nobody has had any similar problems and found out how to solve it, then I may have to try restoreif it gets worse.

  • ITune keeps asking me to restore IPhone 4 after error in updating OS 5.0.1

My IPhone 4 froze while updating to OS 5.0.1. I guess this was because I updated ITune first and without restart Windows 7 I atttempted to update IPhone. I got an error message code "1603" So I push Power button and Home button at the same time to return from the freeze. And, restarted the Windows.
After rebooting, I connected my IPhone to the PC, ITune promted and asked me restore it with options 1: restore from backup and 2: restore as a new phone. At that time ITune did not recognize my IPhone to be the Apple device that it synced all the time. Because I afraid to lose any data in IPhone, I chose " Option 1: restore from Backup. Succefully, I got all data: photos, email message and contacts, but music and apps are gone from my IPhone.
So I reconnected my IPhone to the PC. Then ITune asked me to restore it again and again.
Currently, ITune library contains my apps and songs. All I want to do is let ITune to recognize my IPhone and sync with IPhone so my IPhone gets the apps and song again.
Please help me. Is it OK to choose "Option 2: restore as a new phone"? Will it erase all apps and songs in ITune Library or transfer them into IPhone?
    Thanks,

IMHO I've found a solution!  (after reading more on the varios boards I did):
    1. Dissconected the iPhone from the computer
    2. On the iTunes Edit -> Preferences -> Devices (TAB)
    3. Erased all of the listed Backups  (NOTE! I did backup the iPhone 15 times already ...)
    4. Clicked the Rest Synched History button
    5. Connected the iPhone to the computer
PRESTO!  Now it synched some apps and music and allowed me to use the iTunes on my computer as always.
Thanks for everyone that helped me figure this out!
    Hope this helps ...

  • IPod continually asks to be restored/Screen Black/Does not appear in Disk Managment

Okay, I have a 4th generation iPod Touch that was on version 4.2.1. I decided to update to an already downloaded version of 4.3.3. I Manually update by holding shift and clicking restore (I had save music and made a backup already). To do this I forced my ipod into recovery mode or DFU mode or whatever... After the restore went through, it finished and then it showed me that the iPod still needed to be restored so I restored it again. This continues on in an infinite loop of restoring. I started googling and found something about change the disk letter of your ipod in order to fix the problem of infinite looping restores but it seems that when I access Disk Managment, my iPod does not show. I had also realized that my iPod shows in iTunes as "iPod" but windows does not recognize it at all in the explorer. My ipod is around less than a year old. When I plug my ipod in, it make the connection noise. I have no idea what is going on and I've tried everything!
