IPod keeps re-sync tracks already on?

I had a stack of old rave tunes (about 500) on my iPod across 5 albums (rave on 1, rave on 2, rave on 3 etc etc) - everytime I sync'd the iPod it would delete about 100-150 off then re-sync them back on??
I couldnt find a fix for this so I decided to delete them all, I then re-added them ALL with same album name "underground rave" - 491 tracks - all artwork is same and tags are perfect (named correctly) - *now when I re-sync it deletes ALL 491 tracks off then puts them back on????*
can anyone please help me with this? its so bloody annoying I hate it, I cant think why its doing this?
thanks

This should not be happening. Updating play counts, etc. should not cause tracks to appear to re-upload to your iPod. The only time this should happen is if you make a change that effects a track's metadata (change the a track name, change the genre, add/change album artwork, etc.) or if you actually re-rip the track. Changing the metadata actually alters the music file so it must be re-uploaded. Changes to the play count, skip count, ratings, etc. are made only in the iTunes database and do not effect the actual music file.
If you have all of your music on your computer, you can try creating a new blank library (Click here to see how) and re-adding all of your music to the new library. It is possible that your current library is corrupt. Be certain that you have all of your music in the new library because when you sync the iPod it will completely replace its contents with that of the new library.
You can also try uninstalling iTunes then re-installing it to see of that makes a difference.

  • Ipod touch not syncing as already synced with another library

    I Pod Touch just purchased 4th one in family. Whilst away i set up itunes in another win computer and synced new  ipod touch to this one. Now i,m home trying to sync with my mac at home but getting error;
"This Ipod is synced with another library" The other library(on win) is just still mine in itunes.
How do i fix this without losing all new app's etc on daughters computer that were purchased whilst away. Do i have to lose all the new app's & songs
    help !!

I think that, for some reason, none of the backups that were being made are listed any longer. The only ones listed are four that have timestamps after I erased, one with the earliest timestamp that's the encrypted backup, and another without a time stamp that I'm also assuming is later. I might give that one a try, but I'm not sure that it will work...

  • IPod keeps resyncing tracks for no reason.

Grrrrr. All of a sudden, and for no apparent reason. Any time i connect my ipod classic, roughly 1500 tracks decide to resync themselves, even though they haven't been played, ratings haven't been added, haven't been added to any play-lists etc. As you can imagine, it's very annoying indeed, and probably not doing the ipod's HDD lifespan any favours either.
I've tried restoring my ipod, and re-installing itunes. But alas, it's still behaving badly.
    Help!!!

First, please give us some time to respond. You posted only about 12 hours ago and it sometimes takes a little time until someone with an answer logs on and reads your post.
My suggestion would be to start a brand new iTunes library and resync your entire iPod. It sounds as though there is an issue with the library file in which the "sync indicator" for these songs is not being properly set.
You can start a new library by holding down the "Shift" key while starting iTunes (Click Here to see Apple's instructions). You will then be prompted to either open a different library, or create a new one. This procedure will not over-write your old library, but will, instead, create a second library in the location of your choosing (the new folder "iTunes 1" is the default location). You then need to replicate the settings from your old library (music location, for instance) and import all of your music to the new library. Make certain the setting to "Copy files to iTunes music location" is off (you don't want two copies of all of your music files). Once all this is done, you can sync your iPod with the new library. This will erase the iPod's contents and replace it with the contents of the new library (so make certain that all of your music is there).
Keep in mind that if you choose to try this, things like play counts, ratings, etc. will not be moved to the new library.
If this does not work, or the results are unsatisfactory, you can go back to using your original library by holding the "Shift" key again and choosing your old library when prompted.
If you have any questions, please let us know.

I don't see anything in Help that shows when you already have transfered all the files over.  Why would it want to erase and sync when I already have all the music folder copied over?  I didn't have an issue when I had another technician copy from one laptop to another.  Home sharing is also on but not being recognized.

I suspect you only migrated the media folder instead of the complete working library. Either review the transfer process and copy over the entire iTunes folder from your old profile's music folder or see Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
Note if you have iOS devices and haven't moved your contacts and calendar items across then you should create one dummy entry of each in your new profile and iTunes should  merge the existing data from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library or a backup then then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.

If you have 64bit Vista or Windows 7, look for the seperate download of iTunes for that further down the page.
Once installed, use the Apple Software Update under your Start Menu to fully update all Apple components.
Your content will remain on the drive in the Music > iTunes Folder, nothing is deleted.
You  should be making backups of your content regularly, either through  iTunes or via copying the iTunesFolder in your Music folder to a  external drive.
