Ipod keeps restarting w/ white screen

My iPod is not a year old yet, but starting yesterday, it would randomly turn off and then restart. Today, the screen turns kind of white really quickly and then restarts and goes to the apple logo and stays there for a really long time, and then restarts again. This goes on forever. Once, I got it to go to the main screen and tried to restore it, but in the middle, it went to the white screen and restarted and so I couldn't restore it. I have a feeling this is a serious problem, so if there is no solution, does my iPod have any kind of warranty? It was a gift from a relative, and I don't think my relative bought the extra warranty.

I'm having the same problem as of a few minutes ago with my iPhone 3G. Really strange. There is no way to restore the phone as the OS never seems to boot to a place where I can restore it.
I've tried:
- Powering down the iPhone with the button in the top right
- Rebooting the iPhone with both the Home button and power button depressed
and nothing is getting it out of this loop. At this point, I think the only thing I can do is let is power all the way down and hope it gets better when it's out of batteries.
Are there any other tricks for other types of reboots to do? Something akin to clearing PRAM on a macbook or something maybe?

Sounds like hardware failure, called boot loop. Call Apple and or go on apple.com and make Genius Bar appointment to have your iphone reviewed by a Tech. Provided you iphone shows no physical or liquid damage they will take care of you, or if you have Apple Care Plus

    Welcome to the discussions,
did you already delete the ipsw software file on your computer to make iTunes download a new copy from the Apple server to restore your firmware from?
Also try to restore without using the existing backup, it might contain damaged files causing the behavior of your ipod.
    iwps files are stored here:
    XP: C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates
    7 and Vista: C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates

  • I keep getting a white screen on my iPhone 5 when I check my mail

Why do I keep getting a white screen on my iPhone 5 when I check my mail?

This could be the result of a few different things.  A damaged LCD screen, corruption in the iPod's software, or a loose LCD ribbon cable.  If a restore of the iPod in iTunes does not take care of the issue, then the iPod likely needs to be serviced.

  • My Ipod keeps restarting and showing the Apple Logo over and over....

PLEASE HELP ME!!!! My Ipod keeps restarting, or turning off, I'm not sure which, but when it does that then it shows the Apple Logo, it will go to the main screen for maybe 1 second, but then it does this cycle over again. It has been doing this for a while now. It is also unresponsive, I and tried the R things but they didn't work either. I have tried plugging it up and it hasnt helped, I have no idea what to do. Oh and I havn't dropped it or anything, I have taken very good care of it. The only thing I can think of that ould be wrong with it is that my Dad had it plugged into his car radio, he says it started doing this action while it was plugged up to that, but I have no proof of that. He also plugged it into his computer, which has none of the Itunes software on it, to try to download my songs onto his computer, he says all the songs copied to his computer just fine. I plugged the Ipod into my Ihome and it froze up, when it unfroze I saw that I had all of my songs, but then it started to Turn off and show the Apple Logo. If you have any suggestions please contact me!!!!

sorry, but I am not able to tell you what the problem was
I did not change anything with Vista but it works now. Though I think the failure occured because of one of the Apple products.
Schritt für Schritt / step by step
    1. iPod auswerfen / diconnect your iPod
    2. holen Sie sich alle wichtigen Windowsupdates/
    update your windows
download iTunes again, but don't install it.
    deinstall all Apple-software
(I use only the software wich comes together with iTunes. I don't use safari. You might deinstall it as well, if you use it on a PC)
    Connect your iPod.
Without iTunes the struggle between windows and iTunes was over.
As long as iTunes was installed and a iPod was connected I got a notice of a failure from iTunes and windows. both of them disconnected the iPod. Now windows kept the iPod an I was able to format it, then I disconnected it.
I drove down the computer and turned it on again after a few hours. (Is it necessary to wait a few hours? I don't know. I mention it only)
    7. Installieren Sie iTunes / install iTunes
    8. starten Sie iTunes / start iTunes
    9. verbinden Sie den iPod mit dem Computer / connect your iPod with your PC
In my case there were no further messages of a failure. I got music, movies and audiobooks on my daughters iPod.
Interessieren würde mich schon, warum ein System plötzlich spinnt, obwohl ich "außer" updates nichts verändert hatte.
    Why happened it???

  • My iPod is showing a white screen. I could not see anything. But I can listen to songs by blindly pressing the play button twice. The battery comes only for an hour.? How do I get the display and longer battery?

    Hello Friends,
I've two iPod Nanos (4th gen - 8GB). I'm facing a severe problem with both of them. For both iPods, I tried to do this method Simultaneously press the top button + home (central) button. But of no use.
    1. My first iPod is showing a white screen. I could not see anything. But I can listen to songs by blindly pressing the play button twice. The battery comes only for an hour.? How do I get the display and longer battery?
    2. My second iPod is facing more severe problem. None of the buttons are working. When I connect it my PC it showing "CONNECTED- eject before disconnecting". But it is not ejecting with all the usual methods. When I manually and physically disconnect it from the PC the same "CONNECTED- eject before disconnecting" is still showing till the battery goes off. After that if i press any button it is showing low battery signal. And when i re-connect it to the PC the same process is repeating. When I tied to restore it to the factory settings I'm getting "Error" report.
    (I'm using windows 7)
Friends, Please help me with the above problems. It will be a great help.
    Thank You.
    R.SAMALA

Sounds like some hardware issues, meaning you'll want to take or send the iPods in for service or repairs. You can choose to have Apple do an out of warranty exchange for the prices indicated in the link below or find another third party service perhaps even local to your area.

  • My ipod keeps freezing up between screens

My ipod keeps freezing up between screens.. it won't reboot... the only way i can fix it is to let the battery die and recharge it...

When your iPod freezes, it's not necessary to wait until the battery drains, you should just be able to reset it. If the freezing persists, then try restoring it.
Yes, you should be able to get it serviced under the warranty if the fault persists.

  • My ipod keeps restarting, what is wrong with it?

my ipod keeps restarting and deleting music, what is wrong with it?

Try the standard fixes to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod
if still problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • I'm trying to transfer my purchases but my ipod keeps restarting

When I transferred my purchases, it only transferred about 40 songs and then my ipod restarted itself. I need to figure out how to get my apps and songs on to my new computer. When i go to sync my apps, it says it will replace everything with the few apps that I have on my computer. My Ipod keeps restarting itself and will not let me transfer anything to my computer.

    Hello Lori,
Does your iPod appear in iTunes?  Do you have it set up to sync music from under the iPod's music tab?  Perhaps this support article can be of assistance.

Sometimes my ipod gen 5 display white screen when i choose to see a photo , was it broken ?

    Likely a corrupted photo file:
    Try:
    - Importing the proplem photos to your computer and viewing them
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Backup and then restore from backup. See:

    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Why do I keep getting a white screen and just play button when previewing in browser? CP 7 and 8

It doesn't matter what I try, I just keep getting a white screen show up with a play button in the middle. Once I have pressed the play button in the middle the rest of the slides play, this is not good - I need to ensure company logo is first thing users see.

  • Ipod Keeps Restarting

I have had this problem for a few days now. My Ipod keeps restarting when it tries to play a song. I've tried to reset the factory settings, and I've tried to format everything manually, but nothing has worked.
It happens when trying to play a song. Also happens when switching Songs clicking the wheel. It also restarts when the Nano is playing "Music Quiz".
I've tried almost everything to fix it.

Given the circumstances, it's most likely an issue that requires service.
You can arrange online service here.

Or if an Apple store is near you, take it there and have them check your iPod.

my ipod keeps restarting it only loads untill it gets to the apple sighn and then it will just turn off whats is wrong i need help

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
