IPod keeps scrolling thru "purchased" list; can't play ANY purchased iTunes

I run into this problem every time I purchase iTunes. I go to play a song from the "purchased" folder and my iPod just scrolls through the whole list and will not play any songs. I have to update my iPod to straighten the problem out. Then if I recharge it the problem starts up again. HELP, THIS IS DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!!!

Sorry I can't help but I have potentially a similar problem.
We have an Apple TV 3 and after the most recent software update (potentially coincidental timing), our purchased movies & TV shows will no longer play for our US account. We can play previews but that's it. We also tried renting a new movie but that didn't work either. No error messsage, just select play, it thinks about it, then returns you to the same screen again.

Hello all, I am hoping that someone can shed some light on this problem.
I was in the gym, litening to my ipod and went to forward a song then it just started to forward though the lot and wont play any songs!!

That happened to my iPod. Have you tried either restarting your iPod nano or so hold the menu and the select button down until the apple logo appears. Or go to your menu, and let it scroll through all of the songs on your iPod and after that it should be fine. Thats what I did for mine. I hope this works!

Downgraded to iTunes 6, now I can't play any purchased songs

A few weeks ago I upgraded to the infamous iTunes 7 and it crashed my computer so I paid $100 to have it repaired and today I downloaded iTunes 6 (from the CD that came with my iPod).
First, iTunes 6 wouldn't open because of the "iTunes Library.itl" problem, which I was able to solve.
Now, I cannot play any songs I purchased via iTunes or any song samples on iTunes. I'm signed in but when I click to play a song, a dialog box pops up asking me to authorize the computer. Then after inputting my user ID and password, it gives me a dialog box that says "Machine Authorization was Successful". I close that dialog box and another one pops up that says: "We could not complete your Music Store request. An unknown error occurred (-208)."
What should I do?

My iPod synced automatically and now I can't play songs on iTunes.

I used to play my songs from my iPod all the time on iTunes. One day, I connected my iPod to my computer to charge it up and it started to sync automatically for no reason and now I can't seem to 'rewind' this and go back to the way things were.
What has happened? I have never synced my songs before (at least I don't think I have) but my songs on my iPod are very light in color and are non-playable on both of my computers now. :o(

Thank you for replying to the issue I am having with my iPod. I think I may have tried to download an update for the iPod on iTunes, but I never completed the download or installed it, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it?? I don't know if I should try to restore it to it's original settings or if that will delete all the songs I have on there. When I uncheck the sync button it deletes everything, so I know I can't do that option.
I don't think my kids have downloaded a newer version of iTunes on this computer and I know I didn't on my laptop, so that rules that possibility out.
It is just the craziest thing. They are there one day, then one a different day, I plug it in to charge and bam, it starts to sync out of the blue, and I have no control over what is happening.
I am not one that is very 'iPod literate' so I have no clue what it means to 'sync' the music, so in a nutshell, I'm not even sure what really happened when my music synced..... I know how to create the playlists, add the music, add the pictures, and do the basic stuff, but when it comes to BIG stuff, my kids know more than I do.... :o/

After upgrading iTunes I keep getting asked to authorize account to play songs purchased with a very old hotmail account (10 years) I don't have anymore and can't recover the password. How can I authorize my songs again? I tried to sign in to hotmail again and it says i don't have an account, but when I try to create a new one with the same name, it says one already exists.
When I try to recover the password from Apple, it of course wants to send an email to the account I can't get into, and when I try to do the security questions, it says my DOB is incorrect. How can that be wrong?! I am pretty sure I know my exact birthdate. Now I can't listen to a bunch of my music.

Purchased list can't update

Open My Purchased list, there are some apps in there.
But when I bought apps again, the purchased list can't update. The purchased list has no change. The app I bought can be download, but not appear in the Purchased list .
I have already authorized to my computer. MAC or PC all appear this question.
I don't know what to do.

Maybe the apps have been hidden inadvertently ...
Launch iTunes on your Mac. From the menu bar top of your screen click Store > Sign In
Now click your Account name in the account area right side of the iTunes Store window.
That will take you to the Account Information window.
Now click: View Hidden Purchases

There is absolutely NO way to drag and drop newly purchased music from the Purchased list on the phone into my iTunes library? I'm finding it hard to believe that something so simple cannot be done!

I like to make MP3 CD's when I have people over, or when my friends have people over so I can just pop them into the CD player and let them play all night without having to worry about changing the CD or anything. Well, Apple's music is in AAC format, so I have to convert the songs to MP3 files using the converter in iTunes. So I'll convert them to MP3's and just delete the AAC file so I don't have doubles. The problem is, the next time I plug the phone into my laptop to transfer new purchases, iTunes thinks that the songs I converted aren't there anymore because the phone has them as AAC files, and iTunes has them as MP3 files, so it doubles the music again...EVERY time!! It's very frustrating! So this is why instead of clicking Transfer Purchases, I would like to be able to just drag and drop the songs I want from the Purchased list on the phone into my iTunes library. I hope I explained this right...lol. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like I'm able to do that. I'm hoping maybe somebody here can help me out and give me some pointers on what to do about this. That stinks! I can actually do that at my house...I just plug my iPhone right into the wire that's plugged into my receiver in my living room...but some of my friends aren't "technology savvy"...lol...so they just have DVD players and I'll put the CD in there because it will read an MP3 disc. What's funny, is I have the phone set to "Manually Manage Music", and when I plugged it into the laptop just now, the one song I downloaded last night on the phone, transferred over to the iTunesl library. That NEVER happens. And it only transferred the one song...it didn't double the other songs like it ususally does. I swear, iTunes does what it wants, when it wants sometimes...lol. Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

There are a g-zillion posts sharing your problem... but still no answer from Apple. The odd thing is that it is not affecting all of us.
I share your problem and it's doing my head in... if somebody mentions the 5 bloody R's again...!!!

All you have to do is connect your new iPod to the computer that has the library for your old iPod.
When iTunes comes up, click on your new iPod under Devices.
At the top of the Summary Page click Music.
Click Synch Music.
Do the same thing for Photos, Apps, Movies and so on...
Now just synch the iPod.
