IPod keeps turning itself on and off and is n ot recognized by the computer

It was working fine until I tried to update to the 1.2.1 versionof iTunes. Now it just keeps going on and off. I can't do ANYTHING to it and the five rs were totally useless. Can anybody tell me what to do?

I posted something earlier this week and i realized we have the exact same problem!!!! Sorry, but the bad news is that restore won't work!!! I put it on disk mode so the computer finally recognized it. It also charges on disk mode. I charged it for over an hour. But after i tried restore, it went back its old routine! Now I'm starting to charge it on normal mode for four hours, just in case. Have you tried the 'drain it for 24 hours' thing? I've seen it on several websites, but haven't tried it yet. SOMEONE HELP US!!!!!

  • IPod keeps turning itself on and off after attempted update

I attempted to update my iPod touch 4 from iOS 5.0.1 to iOS 5.1 but now my iPod keeps shutting itself off and turning itself on.

    - Try a reset:
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Then try to restore the iPod.
    - If you could not restore and it is still turning on and of and on and off...let the battery fully drain. After charging for an hour try the reset and restore again.

  • Ipod keeps turning itself on and off repeatedly until battery goes dead

Take it to your local Apple Store

  • IPod keeps turning itself on and off but wont start

My iPod has been turning itself on, but before it's past the screen with the apple it turns itself back off and it will repeat doing that until the battery runs low then it will sit on the battery screen for a few minutes. After it gets some juice it starts back up with this crap. I figured it wasnt the battery because it was almostly completly fully charged when it started happening. It was when I was charging it, and when I was done I removed it from the computer properly; pushed the button to start it up and its been doing this disturbing ritual since. Ive tried every thats been suggested on this site, and I'd love to restore it, but iTunes doesnt reconize it. I've been trying to fix it for hours working with both the iPod and Windows but nothing seems to have any affect on it. I am afraid I'm going to have to replace the entire thing.
If anybody knows anything that might help, please, I'll take any form of it ya got.

  • My ipod keeps turning itself off,  it syncs and charges fine. does anyone know what i can do?

i brought a second hand ipod, i would told it was fully functional. however, sometimes it likes to turn itself off halfway through songs.
it syncs to my mac fine and the battery can last upto a few days.
does anybody please have any advice? thanks.

Have you restored it in iTunes yet? If the issue is software related then a restore will resolve your issue, since it will remove all data and system software and reinstall the system software.

  • My Ipod Classic will not sync to my itunes or even get recognized by the computer.

I have put it on my IHome and it recognizes it there. I do have a PC. I am not sure if it is the USB ports or the Ipod.

Have you carefully worked through each and every suggestion in this Apple support document?

  • My iPod keeps turning itself on

I just bought a refurbished 30 gig iPod. I charged it the night before, and when I woke up, its screen lit up and started playing Dane Cook. The battery was depleated. My friend said to turn off the alarm, but I'm not sure if that's working. I am totally sure I turned it off all the way. Could it be a defect because I got it used from Apple? I still have the warrenty...

See if it does it more than once, if it does, your ipod is a defect and you should send it into the place you bought it from.

  • Iphone 4 not charging and not being recognized by the computer

I've had my iphone 4 for a little more than a year now and it wont charge or get recognized by the computer. I've seen things about battery and I wanted to see if there was anything else I could try before taking it to an Apple store

    Clean the dock connector.
    Reset or restart the device.
Try a different USB port on the computer.
Is it even recognized in Windows?
Does it charge when connected to a wall outlet?

My button on my IPod has been broken for a while now but that's fine. But just recently my iPod started turning itself on and off as if I'm pressing the lock button. This problem is VERY annoying. If anyone knows how to fix this PLEASE help.

Do you have a case on it that covers the power button?
If not, the power button stuck down.

My iPad mini keeps turning itself off and then the apple logo keeps flashing constantly, i have charged it fully and restored it many times. what can i do?

If you have restored to factory settings and started as new, there is nothing more that you can do on your own. Make an appointment at an Apple Store and ask them for help. You might have a hardware problem and the Apple Store techs will be able to determine that.
