Ipod/laptop connection issue.

Basically my computer wont detect my ipod at all.
The Ipod isnt new i got it last christmas, its an ipod touch 16gb. It worked up until i rebooted my computer and reinstalled itunes. My ipod still has everything on it but it wont detect with my computer or itunes, i have also logged into my account on itunes successfully.
Ive tried:
1.Turning computer off and then on.
2.Reinstalling itunes.
3.Turning ipod off and then back on.
4.Re-booting ipod by holding the lock and menu buttons together.
5.Tried more than 1 USB port.
6.unistalling + reinstalling USB controllers and USB drivers
I may have missed something ive tried, but if someone mentions it, ill say.
The cable included with my ipod could be broken due to a split in it but it still works when it is plugged into the mains using a mains adapter it still works, also my brothers cable works on my ipod too to charge it but not to connect it.
Thx in advance, this has been a problem for a while now and im tired of it after trying almost everything =/

I have already tried this, as it continued from the AMDS guide. No luck
EDIT: just plugged in again when the ipod was unlocked and it worked this time but now i have the problem that the computer gives me the option to install it as a camera/scanner or to install it with photoshop =/ how can i get it to install with itunes because my computer thinks its a camera O_o?
EDIT 2: I changed the scanner and camera options so that it wouldn't be detected as a camera and now its not detected at all again =/

  • Ipod Nano Connection Issues

I am having trouble getting my ipod to connect with my PC.
It has worked previously, as i have transfered 3gb of songs to my Ipod Nano so far.
However now when i try to connect my Ipod to my computer, i plug it in, and nothing happens. I can play with my ipod, there is no "Do not Disconnect" symbol appearing.
However, if i actually bend down the plastic part of the connector side to my ipod, so that it is kind of a 10° angle to my ipod (thus bending the connection isnide my ipod i guess) it reconises it.. Do Not Disconnect appears and it appears on itunes.
However i dont want to be constantly bending the connector down so that i can transfer songs, beacuse not only is it inconvenient, but it can't be good for my ipod.
I have no idea why its doing this, I have reset my ipod, re-installed, updated ipod software, tried different ports, i also tried my mates ipod lead to see if it was mine that was faulty. this didnt help, same problem.
I understand i can send it in for a service, but wasn't sure if this would come under servicable conditions?
Would appreciate some help that doesn't require sending my ipod away, but if there is no other choice, then i guess ill have to.
    Thanks in advance

  • IPod Classic connection issue

Just bought the 80 gig Classic and have already had issues. See http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1243711. Finally got this resolved and synched the iPod to iTunes. Now, I can't get the d**n thing to connect again. The screen says CONNECTING Do Not Disconnect, then switches to EJECTING You May Disconnect. This thing is aggravating the crap out of me. With my older Zen Vision M, I installed the software, hooked up the device and away we went. I bought the iPod because I figured it was the best. Apparently I was way wrong! No support except for this discussion group (Oh, aside from the ONE call you can make!! Gee, which issue do I use my call for!) Anyway, I've searched and can't find reference to this issue, so does anyone have any ideas? If I can't get this resolved soon, it's going back to Best Buy and Apple ain't getting a good grade from me. Thanks for any help. BTW, it's iTunes v 7.5.

I'm having this exact same problem -- in fact I cannot connect at all -- it says "connected" then immediately disconnects itself. Interestingly for me too not allowing the cable to click in also seems to do the trick.
Definitely seems to be some sort of cable mating issue. Changing cables doesn't do the trick either...

  • Pre Plus Mobile Hotspot laptop connection issues

    Hello All.
I think this is a duplicate post because I hit enter accidentally!  Sorry.
I am having a problem connecting my laptop to the internet using Mobile Hotspot through VzW.  I have activated the feature on VzW, have the software loaded on my Pre Plus and have tested it successfully with my daughter's iTouch device.  She was able to easily connect and access the web while we were in the car.
My laptop recognizes the MHS as a WiFi access and connects to it initially.  When it tries to acquire a network address, it fails.  I says that the connection has limited or no connectivity.  I cannot get on the web with that.
My question is what settings I might need to set on my laptop to help with this connectivity.  I have WAP Personal set with the appropriate Key on both devices.
Any thoughts from anyone?  I would appreciate any help.  I like the concept of the feature but not being able to connect my laptop really puts a damper on my enthusiasm!
Thanks for any help you can give.

I had the same issue. I resolved it by using a passcode that has 8 lowercase letters and no numbers...

  • WRT 160 Laptop Connection Issues

I travel frequently with my older Compaq laptop that runs Window XP Professional.  I connect to several different wireless networks while I travel.  Occassionally when I return home from a trip I get a message that says verifying identity and the laptop will not connect to the wireless network.  I have had this issue in the past and I believe one of the solution was to remove the network from the connect automatically setting and do it manually.  I tried that to no avail this past time.  The laptop appears to have finally connected (after over a week of attempts) and the internet is functional, however I still have the validating identity icon on the taskbar.  Any ideas?

Click on the Start button >>> Control Panel >>> Network Connections- Here right click on the "Wireless Network Connection" icon and select Properties- Click on the 'Authentication' tab- Uncheck "Enable network access control using IEEE 802.1x" and click on Ok.

  • Bluetooth to laptop connection issues

I have been trying to no avail to pair my Q10 with my laptop. Everything goes well until I want to pair the two. The computer sends a number to the phone and I accept because they match and then all the drivers are installed after this I try and connect to the computer through my Q10 and receive a message stating,"Con't Connect. In device setting on your BlackBerry device, turn on Internet Tethering using Bluetooth." I am not trying to set up this bluetooth connection for internet tethering and cannot turn that option on because I do not have a tethering plan. Any possible reasons and help would be appreciated, thank you. Photo at the bottom is what I receive when I try to connect. I'm running OS 10.2.1.2141 and it was also the same issue on OS 10.2.1.1925

You do not need tethering data to turn on Internet tethering you only need internet and when you do turn it in make sure you can see the CONNECT to BLUE TOOTH option and make sure that that option is on.
It would also help if you had BlackBerry Link

  • Volvo XC60 - iPod USB Connection Issues

I am having issues with my Volvo XC60 recognizing my iPods via the car's USB connection.  Is this a widely known issue?  Does anyone know if there is a fix in place for this issue?

I've had a very similar problem with all my iPods. First I had a shuffle, and it rebooted windows a few times... Then I returned that and bought a Nano. A month later that was stolen, but it DID restart my computer a few times again. Now I have a 60gb video iPod, and my computer sees the iPod, but the updater and iTunes do NOT.
In regards to your specific problem... I think it's because a Windows dll file is corrupted, missing, or damaged... I can't guarantee that this will work no matter what, but at least my computer hasn't crashed yet since I got my video iPod, and I've run this program.
First, make sure you have all the latest updates from windows update. Then, go to this site, and click on the donload link for tuneXP 1.5.
    http://www.driverheaven.net/dforce/showdoc.php?doc=txp_download
Download it, and install the program (it's totally free!) After you install it, start up the program, and click on the Miscellaneous menu, and then click on system file checker. (NOTE: You WILL NEED your origianl windows CD for this to finish properly.) While doing the system file check if it ever says that it can't find a file or can't read the disc, ALWAYS tell it to RETRY... Eventually it'll find the proper file on the windows disc.
After it finishes (can take anywhere from 20 min to a couple hours depending on how fast your pc is) restart your pc, and then try using your ipod again.
This has caused my computer to not crash anymore when having my ipod plugged in, but now I can't see my ipod in itunes, or the ipod updater.
I can still put music only on my ipod though using the vpod program which is completely free and easy to use. I have to be able to use itunes to be able to put videos, album art, and pictures on my ipod, but at least I have music on it.
Let me know if this helps, and if you want to know where to get vpod.

  • 7th Generation iPod Nano connection issue

My Dell Inspiron N7110 does not recognize my brand new 7th generation iPod Nano even when I use a USB 2.0 or 3.0 port.

Gee...I'm answering my own posts.  But...this is the deal.  Apparently, my iPOD Nano froze...and one thing I did not do was reset it.  I did that, and by IPOD was suddenly recognized by my computer....and is now happily charging, etc.   So, case solved.

Please help me out as this is very irritating. This has been happening for the last 20-30 minutes. It had roughly half battery left.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My ipod was connecting to my home wi-fi just fine until I uploaded new music from my Itunes on my laptop. Now my ipod and my iphone will not connect to my wireless network. I've tried resetting the network settings etc... Nothing seems to work. Help!

My ipod (version 6.1.3) was connectiong to my home wi-fi just fine until I uploaded new music from my itunes via my laptop. Now my ipod and my iphone will not connect to my wireless network. I've uplugged my wireless network and reset my network settings etc... nothing seems to work. Please help!

Does the iOS devices connect to other networks?
Does the iOS devices see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
Since both iPhone and iPod stopped connecting I suspect a problem with your network.

  • The PC that my ipod was connected crashed and i wanted to switch it to my laptop now..the question is will i lose all my pictures and notes from my ipod if i switch PC's or is there a way to make it stay since i have icloud backup on my ipod.

hi...the pc that my ipod was connected crashed and i wanted to switch it to my laptop now..the question is will i lose all my pictures and songs from my ipod if i switch PC's or is there a way to make it stay since u have icloud backup on my ipod. i really dont want to lose my pictures so plz let me know if there is a way...thank you

The iCloud backup does not include non-Tunes purchased music and photos that were synced to the iPod. The iCloud backup does not also included a few other things included in the iPod backup that iTunes makes.
The iPod backup that iTunes makes does also not included non-iTunes purchases and photos synced to the iPod.
free programs like iFunBox with copy non-iTunes purchased music and some other things from iPod to computer.  A paid program like TouchCopy is needed to copy photos synced to the iPod to a computer.

  • I have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 on my MacBook. Constantly dropping internet connection or message "error connecting to the network" comes up. No wireless connectivity issues with windows 7 laptop or iphone.

I have a MacBook with Snow Leopard 10.6.8. The last few weeks it has been constantly dropping internet connection, and one of these messages appear on the page: "Safari cannot open this page because the server where this page is located isn't responding" or "Safari cannot open this page because you are not connected to the internet" comes up. I will check Wifi and I am connected. No wifi connectivity issues with iphone or windows 7 laptop, this doesn't happen with either of those devices. I have unplugged and reset router, cleared cache, still happening. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

  • WRT54G Router - Internet connection issues using the Ipod touch

Ok, first - here is my setup. I've got the router hooked into the modem, with the desktop computer hooked directly into the router.  I've got my laptop running off wireless internet, and I've got an ethernet cable connecting through my laptop to an xbox for xbox live connection.  I recently just got an iPod touch, and I've come to realize that whenever I'm on the iPod, it messes with the internet on the desktop computer and on the xbox, but not the laptop really.. it makes the internet really slow, or sometimes it doesn't work at all, especially on the xbox.  Is there anything I can change to make these all work at the same time?  Or is this too many connections or what? Please help. thanx.
(running windows vista home premium, WRT54G router, pretty much beginner status, though I can follow directions easily : ] )
Also, the internet always works on the ipod, it seems as though the ipod is 'taking over' the internet.. it doesn't lose it while in the area, yet the other computers and xbox does at times..
Message Edited by jmaxey0122 on 12-16-2009 05:27 AM

You might be facing the problem, because the Ipod and your Desktop computer must be having the same IP address thats the reason whenever your IPod is connected to your Network, your Desktop must be getting disconnected. Check the IP address of your IPOD and of your Desktop Computer.
First thing which you need to check, if the Physical connections are done properly. Connect the Modem to the Internet Port of the Linksys Router and then Connect the computer to the LAN Port No.1. On your Desktop computer login to the setup page of your Router and click on the Status tab and check "Internet IP address"
If required you can Re-Set your Router and Re-configure all the settings on your Router from the scratch.

  • Ipod connection issues with itunes

i know, i am the one-thousandth person to write in about a connection issue, but i just bought a 8gb nano. my pc is recognizing the ipod, but itunes does not automatically start.
instead, if i manually try to start up itunes, it either doesn't start at all, or when it does, it immediately locks up. or it will try as hard as it can to sync and then locks up.
once i disconnect the ipod from the usb port, itunes will come back to life. i have done EVERYTHING the support pages say, reinstalled itunes, dumped temp files, stopped conflicting software...everything short of sending in the new ipod to be serviced. please if you have run into this particular problem and/or you know how to fix this issue, please respond
i don't really want to send a brand-freaking-new ipod off to be serviced b/c i think this is a software issue.

    Hello lalajamjam,
It sounds like you've done a rather good job of troubleshooting already. Other than testing to see if the issue is user-specific per ( http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1717 ) and possibly testing the Nano on another computer, there are few additional steps to try prior to getting it serviced.
