IPOD left out in Rain, will not turn on
IPOD was caught out in rain storm, was not submerged, but it did get wet. Air-dryed with fan, but am afraid to put to power source for recharge. It will not power on. Any suggestions. Newbie with IPOD touch.
You can try drying it out internally by wrapping the unit in a paper towel and putting it in a bag of dry, uncooked rice (or a bag of silica gel pellets, if you have access to those) for a few days. It's very probable that it's been permanently damaged, but it's possible that if you dry it out, it may then work. If after a few days in the bag it still has problems, then you'll need to pay to get it exchanged (by Apple) or repaired (by a third-party repair service) or buy a new iPod.

I am having the exact same problem as I see may of you unfortunate Apple users are. I am receiving the error message about firewires and I have never used one. The nano will not turn off and I have to let the battery run out. The play/pause function works perfectly fine, but not to turn off the nano. The sleep function does not do anything either. I am so disappointed with Apple because they would not help me on the phonbe since it is well past my first 90 days of ownership. I may have gotten a single drop of water on it, but that was about 2 weeks ago, and still having the same problems. I don't know what to do, but I see that Apple has gotten mighty rich off of their JUNK products! Anyone out there, help me please!
Do a reset. You will not lose any data: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

Lastly try restoring to factory settings.
If none of this works, it's probably a hardware problem. Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of your Apple store. You are under warranty and they will fix or replace it on the spot. -

What happens if you try to reset the iPod? To do this, press and hold both the Select/Center and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear. Don't be afraid to try this procedure more than once if no luck the first time around.

My ipod touch 4th generation randomly turned off and will not turn back on or charge. I have tried restarting it, resetting it, and letting it "charge" for weeks but nothing has worked. It is not registered by itunes when plugged into the computer either and there hasn't been anything dramatically done to it. I also cannot do anything to update its software since it isn't being recognized by itunes or turning on.

Hey guys!! Well i left my ipod outside for like 5 min. In the sun but then i went to get it and it said that the tempeture was too hot so i left it cool off for a minute. Then i turned it on and it was working fine but it ran out of battery and it turned off. I went to put it to charge and it said it was charging so i waited for it to turn on by itself but it never did. It just kept saying low battery charging. I left it to charge ALL night and when i woke up it still said low battery charging!! What can i do to fix this someone please help!!! Reseting it work, ? And how to reset?? THANKS!!!!!

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I cant get my Ipod touch to turn on. Yesterday it was freezing up alot so i turned it off, when i was turning it back on it froze on the apple sign. i plugged it in and tried to turn it off but no luck, i left it like that all night. This morning i plugged it into Itunes and restored it, it worked, for about five minnutes, it suddenley turned to a black screen and shut off. I cant get it on at all, i tried connecting it up to the computer but it couldent find the Ipod. I need help to fix it, i want to fix it. An ideas?
If your restore was a restore to factory defaults/new iPod (vice from backup) then you likely have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Greetings, yesterday my ipod nano 4g played some music and shut itself off after being in my vehicle during the day although not in direct sunlight. I had thought that it ran out of charge and took it home and hooked it up to my computer as I normally do to recharge it and update it although it still would not turnon or activate itself and show the "do not disconnect" sign on the screen. What could cause this? Is there a way to reset my ipod or is it toast? Please help.

Hey, i sorta broke my brothers ipod that he adores so much for some reason. it is basically frozen and the screen looks like a monster truck ran over it. it also locked up. i already broke the news to him. he said by him a new one or get apple to fix it. Now I don't know for sure but my friends say repairs cost more than the ipod it's self and i cant find a 64 gb ipod any wear on the internet for a good price. so can any on help me fix it or should I just pay $290 for a 3rd gen ipod?

After charging for at least an hour reset the iPod:

Ipad will not turn on but shows in itunes?
I have an iPad 4S which has been working absolutely perfectly until now. I put it on charge after it ran out and it will not turn on now. I have connected it to my PC and it shows up in iTunes but still won't turn on. At one point I tried moving the lock screen switch and this made the "Padlock" icon visible but nothing else.
Now the screen stays dark other than when I press the main start button and then I can see the Padlock icon and nothing else.
I am on iOS 8.1.1
Can anyone help?

If your iPod will not turn on and you are getting indicators that there is no battery left, the first step would be to make sure that the iPod has been charged correctly. You may find the following article useful:
