IPod library album art problems

So I just synced my iPad, and go to open my music library, and find that some of the album art has become... larger than normal, and are obscuring the view of everything else. Any help?

  • Ipod video album art problems

Hi i've just got a new 30Gb ipod video and synced it with a g4 powerbook. Everything worked fine until i tried to turn it on and listen to music. All songs without album art work fine but the ones with (which is about 2/3 of them) seem to be causing porblems. When i start a playlist the first track doesn't play, instead he ipod tries to load the album art. As soon as the album art appears, it skips onto the next track without playing anything at all, very frustrating! when eventually a song does start playing there is a 2 second silence after the song's started while it tries to load album art again. I thought maybe it was the art itself but songs bought from itunes with the official apple artwork appear to be worse if anything!?! anyone had any similar problems/solutions?
any help would be much apperciated

I'm having a problem with this as well. I bought a 2G iPod Touch for my gf and after putting in some of the albums from my library, certain albums are not showing the correct album. For instance, as I put in Nelly Furtado's album, it would end up showing Ne-Yo's album cover. I checked in iTunes to make sure the correct album was in there which it was. Is this some kind of bug?

  • Ipod Touch album art problems

After I updated to the latest firmware 2.1 my album art started to lag as I scrolled through the album art. Before it was nice and smooth but whenever I scroll through the albums some albums appear to be missing but appear after I select them. At first I thought it was because i had to much music but i still noticed after all my music was deleted and only a few albums were present. How do I fix this? I tried reinstalling the firmware and restoring my itouch but nothing has changed.

  • Sync and album art problems with iPhone 3G

The other day my iPhone was sitting in the cradle syncing and I noticed iTunes (8.02) was deleting the apps from the phone. I cancelled that sync and in iTunes I saw that the "Sync Applications" checkbox was unchecked, but I hadn't unchecked it. I then rechecked the box and synced my apps back onto the phone.
Today I added some songs to a playlist and synced, but the sync time seemed suspiciously short. When I checked iTunes I saw that all of my sync content boxes were unchecked...Sync Music, Sync Videos, etc. When I check one of the boxes iTunes threatens to delete all the content presently on my phone and replace it with content from the library....which is of course the same content except for the few songs I copied into one playlist. I don't really want to sit around and wait until this stupid phone replaces 15gb of content with the same 15gb of content. Sometimes this thing acts like such a piece of junk.
Perhaps this is related, but some weeks ago I purchased a Colbie Caillat album from the ITMS. Whenever I play a song from this purchase on my iPhone it shows the album art for an Usher album I already had in my library. If I play the same song on one of my iPods, the album art is correct. Apparently some sort of corruption is afoot in either iTunes, the iPhone or both. Is there some way to get iTunes and the iPhone on the same page without having to wipe and restore this stupid phone? Thanks.

I bit the bullet and checked all the boxes and synced, and the phone did not go through with the threat to erase all my content. It just synced the one changed playlist instead. False alarm. However, the album art issue remains.

  • Album Art Problems Galore

So basically, I started having album art problems recently where the album art would appear correctly in my iTunes, but shows up on my iPod as a black square.
I was told to turn off album art and turn it back on, which helped, but then some of my album art just stopped showing up altogether (even though it's still visible in iTunes).
So I'm wondering what options I have? I was thinking about just completely wiping off all the album art and re-applying it; but #1, I don't know what the easiest way to wipe them off would be; #2, I don't know if re-doing all my album art will even fix the problem. With my luck, it'd have the same issue after I redid all my album art >.<

Not sure if this will be of any help but, if you're willing...
In itunes, convert the problem songs/albums' ID3 Tags to v2.3, even if they're already v2.3. (Right Click on song(s), on the menu that appears, "Convert ID3 Tags")
Then uncheck "Display Album Artwork on ipod", sync ipod. Then re-enable the "Display Album Artwork on ipod" again and sync it again.
Another possibility is that the artwork for those songs is, somehow, unpalatable with the ipod. If so, just get artwork from another source (amazon, wiki, etc.) on one or two songs (just to see if it works) and sync, see if it works then.
Don't know if these will work though. Good luck and keep us informed.

  • Very Strange and nasty iTunes (not iPod) Album Art Problem

    Hi,
I have the latest version of iTunes for Windows and I have never noticed this before on a previous version, but when I try to add album art to most (over 90%) of songs, the addition won't stay if I select another song.
Even worse, if I try to add art while the song is playing, not only will the addition dissappear, the song corrupts in the process. It's as if the jpeg file is inserted into the audio data itself, as the song will grow by a number of seconds (the growth consists of skips and repeats.)
I'm using iTunes with Windows Media Center. I have iTunes maintain my music folder, while Media Player / MCE monitors nothing. I also have a Media Center Extender setup (an Xbox360) that accesses my music as well (through the media player / MCE database.)
None of my music files are tagged as read-only. I have a suspicion that the cause of the problem may be along similar lines (file permissions, access, etc.) but nothing I've
tried works (including resetting all file permissions.)
In addition, none of the iTunes Art Importers work. In using the most popular one (iTunes Art Importer,) the program crashes to a .NET/CLR debugger when I try to import art. Looking at the stack trace, it appears as if the error concerns DLL access.
Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated, as this is a pretty horrible bug (as it has ruined several songs.)

Use the SHIFT-Launch iTunes method to get iTunes waiting for a library. Stick the iPod in disk mode and connect to the computer. Browse *My Computer* and right-click on the drive for the iPod, click Properties, then click Tools. Under Error-checking, click *Check Now*. Under Check disk options, select *Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors* (Optional - takes ages but a good idea if you've reason to suspect physical damage). Click Start. Mac users should run *Disk Utility / Repair Disk* for the equivalent process. This should find and correct any errors in the logical & physical structures of your iPod's hard drive which may be causing the problem. When the process is complete disconnect the iPod and then reset it (hold Menu+Select ). Cancel the waiting iTunes dialog and then try to connect in the normal way.
If that still doesn't work you could try Erase your iPod - The Super Fix for most iPod Problems. Basically a low level format of the iPod’s hard drive to get around whatever problems are stopping iTunes from working with it.
Have you tried connecting the iPod to another computer to see if the issues is focused on the iPod or iTunes?

  • ****FIX **** update to 7.0 - Album Art problem- Disable/ReEnable failed

I have a 30gb videopod and updated to version 7. I too was experiencing problems with some tracks not showing recently added album art.
I tried disabling and re-enabling album art on both my powerbook and xp computer and which lead to no album art was showing at all. Disabled and re-enabled numerous times and couldn't get any album art to show.
In Windows, I resolved my issue by removing version 7.0 and installing back version 6.05. Fired up 6.05, Disabled and re-enabled album art and all my album art was back on my ipod. *Sigh of relief of not restoring ipod"
**if you get this message after re-installing an older of iTunes:

    - Wait while the files are imported.
    for Windows users

    - Move the files iTunes Music Library.xml and iTunes Music Library.itl to the Desktop
    - Run iTunes
    - Go menu File > Import > select the iTunes Music Library from your desktop
    - Wait while the files are imported.

marx23 - your tip worked great!! I re-installed iTunes 6.0.5 with the desktop trick. Unchecked, checked, and finally - album art is back up and running on my iPod.
When I updated to iTunes 7.0 I lost album art display on 7000 songs that probably took me 100+ hours to associate. After I got iTunes 7.0 I spent over 3 hours surfing the discussion boards and Apple's tips and trying different things. All the tricks with the check box, uncheck box, eject, repeat while using iTunes 7.0 didn't work. Finally I went back to iTunes 6.0.5.
Thank you so much for the tip!
Hope everybody else finds your post, it's great!!!!!

  • ITunes 8.01 wont launch because of album art problem?

So I installed iTunes 8 on my mac (leopard) and it starts to build some new album art library. I guess there is a corrupted image which makes iTunes quit enexpectedly and somehow it relaunches itself; it keeps looping so crash, relaunch, crash, relaunch etc. Force quitting is impossible, I need to complete shutdown my mac so it stops.
Anyone seen a similar problem? Is there a way to remove the album art from your library? Also sometimes I see this: The app. Genredetection is quit unexpectedly. Anyone can help????

PS: I just found out: while looping I get a huge amount of processes called Generedetection in my activity monitor. When I kill all of these, and then kill iTunes process, the looping stops.

  • Album Art Problem (shows up fine everywhere with exception of one section)

My album art is not showing up properly on my iPod touch.
It shows up fine everywhere on my iTouch (including artists, cover flow, now playing etc.) with the exception of this section:
It's the same for every single artist, every single album, but only for this screen. All the other sections on my iTouch show the album art fine.
    Any ideas?
(I'm running the latest OS if that helps, 4.3.3)

SAME problem here. Very frustrating as I feel I'm playing 'Whack a Mole'... I update the artwork (which I know is already correct as per previous settings and iTunes) on the problem album(s) and then they are correct on the iPhone, but then a different album(s) exhibit the problem.
I've even cleared the downloaded artwork and saved proper JPG files to the albums(s) and it still does not clear up all the issues.
ALSO, I'm not positive on this, but quite sure the only album(s) experiencing this problem are the ones added to the iPhone since the iTunes/iPhone OS update.

  • Imported library album cover problems

Ok, on my iMac I spent a lot of time making sure the album covers were the originals (a few are older than most of the folks working for apple). Some I scanned in myself, etc. Anyway, a lot of work went into my album covers.
So now I try to move my library (including covers) to my Dell lap top. I changed the xml file to point to the new library location. The album art work folder has two folders in it, cache and download.
Some album covers show up but some don’t! What is with that? And how do I fix it?
    Thanks

When I had my iPod photo, I found that adding the artwork to songs in iTunes, BEFORE adding them to your iPod would make the artwork appear on the iPod screen, but adding the artwork to existing song files already on the iPod was not working.
It's a pain to re-add all your songs, but if you are as anal about your music and iPod management as I am, you'll find it is worth it.
    Hope that helps.

  • IPod touch album art

Have a 4th generation iPod touch. When I upgraded to Mac OS X 10.6.6, iTunes started acting faulty and when I synced my iPod again, it wiped out ALL of the album art. I've deleted my entire library, reinstalled iTunes and reimported all of my music and nothing is changing. I am beyond frustrated and have no idea what's going wrong.

Right Click on a song in itunes and click on get album art work. I think there is a way to do it to the whole library but i couldnt tell you how.

  • IPod 5G Album Art. ThumbNail while playing ok. Magnified show rubblish

I have a 5G iPod 30G White. During playing the album art shows fine. But when the select button is pressed if will scroll to a bigger view of the art work. A couple of my album art work show fined. But some albums showed a "noise" image. That means a rubbish image. My iPod is in Windows format.
    Any ideas any one.

yeah i had that too. Well i had it when first playing a track, then going over to photo slideshow. When ending slideshow to menu back to now playing, the art work would be noise. click to full screen artwork, it would be fine, click back to minimize in time/sec mode of track, it would be noisy again. I restored my ipod to earlier update. I think this new update caused problems.

  • IPod photo album art test!  Please read!!

One day, while is was not paying attention, my one year old daughter was walking around with my iPod photo. So naturally I gently removed my most prized possession from her greasy grasp and analyzed it for damage. No damage was done, but I noticed something peculiar. The songs album art was being displayed in the large format and it was staying that way! I spent the next several hours trying to repeat the glitch and this is what I came up with:
    Step 1:
First, select a song that has album art and play it like normal. While the song is playing, press and hold the select button first, and then press and hold the menu button. If the screen changed while you did this , then start over, otherwise proceed to Step 2.
    Step 2:
While still holding down the select and menu buttons, let go of the select button and then release the menu button. Timing in this step is very crucial. You must let go of the select button first and the menu button immediately after. If you have done this correctly, the screen will either show the full screen album art, or go back to the previous menu. If your iPod is now in the previous menu just select the song you are playing and the album art should show up immediately.
In this mode, you can change songs or increase the volume without affecting the album art. If you would like to get out of this mode, just press select a few times and your iPod should return to its former self.
If you would like to display the album art and star rating, then follow the steps above, but begin in the position bar screen first. Here is what I mean:
    progress bar<<large album art<<position bar<<Star rating<<progress bar
For those that are still lost, if you press the select button while a song is playing in iPod photo, the screen will change in the succession above.
I can reproduce these glitches without any problems. If this works for you, please let me know by email or by a reply to this post!
    Akuma

    Raymond,
The key here is not how long you would hold the buttons, but the timing involved with releasing them. Some things to remember are:
The song must have album art.
You must be in the progress bar screen. (initial screen)
Press and hold the select button first, and then press and hold the menu button.
The tricky part is releasing the select and menu buttons. The select button must be released first and then the menu immediately afterwards. I mean within a tenth of a second. (Almost as if you are releasing them at the same time!)
It does not matter at all if you hold the select button for 10 seconds before pressing the menu button, just as long as you release the menu button after the select button.
    Hope this helps!
Feel free to rate the initial post if this works out for you.
