IPOD Lock feature

Is there a way to have the lock feature turn on automatically after a set period of time or inactivity?

You could put the option on the Main menu. Then you just click screen lock, then turn screen lock on.
On your iPod, go to settings-->main menu-->screen lock-->on
Now the Screen lock feature should be on the main menu. Click Screen lock, then turn screen lock on, and you should be set.

The is no way to prevent someone for setting a screen-lock passocde on an iPod.
To turn of an existing screen-lock passcode go to Settings>General>Passcode-lock and turn it off. yo have to enter the passcode to turn it off.

Audio Books Not Resuming / Ipod locks if exit Music after 2.2.1 Upgrade

I have a 1G 16GB Ipod Touch, and have been running 1.1.4 for the past year until about a week ago when I took the plunge and upgraded to 2.2.1. I thought all went well, but have been experiencing multiple problems as my use of the Ipod expands.
I subscribe to Audible and listen to long audio books on my drive to work. In 1.1.4 I was able to pause the books, go off and do other things, and come back to resume where I left off. This feature no longer works correctly for me after the 2.2.1 upgrade.
After pausing an audio book, I am able to resume playback where I left off if I stay within the Music application (even playing other songs or books). However, if I exit the Music application back to the Main Menu, the Ipod locks for about 30 seconds before I can start another app, lock, or go back into music. If music is playing when I go back to the Main Menu, it will continue during this time the Ipod is locked and then stop. If no music is playing, the Ipod still locks, so it doesn't matter if music is playing or not.
After the Ipod becomes responsive again, I can go back into Music, but I find that all my audio books have reverted back to the bookmarks that existed a week ago when I did the upgrade. For example, I was on Chapter 6 of a book when I did the upgrade, listened up to Chapter 10 and paused. I exited the Music, came back in, and it reverted to the exact second in Chapter 6 where the bookmark was placed before the upgrade. I have tried multiple experiments with this, and it's always the same result. I upgraded to 2.2.1 to use Apps, so it stinks that I can't leave Music...ever.
Is there anything that I can do to fix this issue or am I going to be forced to downgrade back to 1.1.4?

Well, I managed to fix the problem thru sheer brute force so I figured I would at least pass along what I did in case someone else has this issue. Evidently, doing an in-place upgrade does not work so as a last resort I used "Restore", cleared the Ipod, reloaded everything back on and the playback positions are now working again in music and video. Something screwy must have happened during the upgrade and just needed to start over. Still trying to reload everything (they REALLY need a mass backup feature for photos/music/videos) but looks like it will work.

Can't toggle off the Lock feature

I'm having trouble turning off the lock feature of my Ipod. When I hook it up, everythign turns on, and it updates from Itunes, but it does me no good because I can't do anything with it because the Ipod is locked. Suggestions?

The switch could be broken. (??? I don't know, I've heard of it happening before) That would suck. There's nothing you would be able to do about that except send it in to get fixed

Calender, Movies and Lock feature

Greetings to all,
I just purchased my video ipod about a week ago and have a few of question. With the calender feature, is it possible to transfer calender settings from "Ical"?
My second question is with the movie downloads. Is it possible to transfer a DVD that I already own to my ipod?
Third question, can I lock my ipod to other possible users?

Keep this in mind:
"Screen Lock only prevents snoops from viewing contents or using your iPod when locked and away from all computers. If you connect a locked iPod to a computer, you'll be able to see all songs on it in iTunes (as you normally would), and access any content on its disk (if you set it up for hard disk use) while it's still locked."

Is there a way to "fully" disable, or delete, the passcode lock feature on an iPad?

i am incharge of 50 iPads for ur schol district and have been creating profiles and enabling restrictions on the iPads. today i came across the 'passcode lock' feature, that i am sure all are fimiliar with. if i set that with a code, any student can use that same code to reset the passcode to anythng their little hearts desire. ca this feature be removed from the iPads .. or at least hidden?

Sorry but no, there is not, at least none I've heard of. There are several such issues that complicate the use of iPads in classrooms. Most school districts I've read comments from here seem to just have gotten used to the idea that they'll have to reconfigure the iPads from time to time.

Since downloading itunes 10 my ipod's features are messed up. Currently I'm looking to delete apps. They no longer appear on left side of itunes screen. I try to click on apps on top of screen but apps are in a shadow mode and I can't click on them.

If you are completely confident that you didn't hide it, then you purchased those with different apple id. If you completely confident that you purchases with same apple id then you have hidden it. I Ipod class wont play TED and other video podcasts. The genious bar could not figure out the problem. This problem is not isolated to a single computer. Secondly, the convert to ipod version feature in Itunes does not resolve the problem.

My Ipod classic wont play TED, The Grid, Techzilla and other video podcasts (but not all video podcasts). The genious bar could not figure out the problem. Instead, the Apple store gave me credit towards a new classic, which produced the same problem. This problem is not isolated to a single computer. Secondly, the convert to ipod version feature in Itunes does not resolve the problem. Lastly, I tried restoring the ipod to no avail. I've heard this is a video codec problem.

my ipod locked and i forgot the password is there anyway i can open it without haveing to reboot the whole ipod to factory settings.

Nokia 701 call screen lock feature?

Hi nokia community,
was wondering if there is call screen lock feature in nokia belle? Because i couldn't find it any where in my nokia 701, even there is no option to edit the normal lock screen or button?
Why there are bugs and such small and important features are missing in nokia's belle OS?
Please help me feel like i'm using a smartphone.
Any help would be highly appreciated.

Hmm..I am not sure..call nokia care in your country.
I am not having anything to complain about regarding how my 701 behaves with incoming calls or things about "lock screen"..sorry.
PS Try out "Nokia sleeping screen" for nice "lock screen" features when phone is asleep..Nokia store..

My Ipod lock screen has disappeared!

My iPod lock screen has disappeared and says the iPod is disabled. I had a passcode and I have tried turning it on and off and when I plug it into iTunes it says I need to unlock the iPod first! But the passcode 'slide to unlock' bar is gone!

Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

I've got options for 2, 5, 10, 15 minutes and Never. Have you got an Exchange email account on your iPad ? 'Never' can be removed so as to protect a company's potentially sensitive email - they may not want the iPad being left/stolen with the emails on it accessible. If you remove the account the Never option will probably reappear

IPod notes feature (ipod as a tour guide)

Dear iPod fans
We were using iPods as tour guides as described in "ipod notes feature guide" (www.apple.com/ipod/ipodtours)
there was a nice feature enabling to link to media files like music and video using instructions like
link to a song
on the new generation iPod this is not working (at least on the new nano). You basically can't click on the link because the instrucion seems not to be recognized by the new hardware
The iPod does not give any "error" (using the <ERRORS>tag in a note).
Copying the notes folder working on a past generation iPod video on the nano 3G results in "non interactive" menus thus making the tour guide iPod useless
has anyone tryed a way to fix this problem? Is any solution available?

The only way to view video files on the iPod is to
sync them to the iPod using iTunes.
There's no way around that.
Thanks for the reply. In the guide they show how to point to songs do you know if there is a similar command to point to the movies I add? If that is possible then I would not have a problem.

My HD-EG5 hard drive only shows me 99 mb of blank space after installing the App lock feature. ??

Upon installing the HD-EG5 500gig Hard Drive & installing the app lock feature, I was prompted to unplug & replug the drive in. When I did all that showed up was a 99 mb section called App unlock. After checking the drive at the most basic level, I can see the other 460+ gig using external software but it cannot be seen when you plug the drive into a USB port.

Android has a find and lock feature built in that is accessible from your Google account. Just Google "Android Device Manager" and you can find/lock/erase your Android device from that page.
You have to activate it on your Android device first, but it's a quick setup.
Open the Google Settings App.
Click Android Device Manager.
Check the boxes.
Done.
