Ipod Locked, Resoring doesn't help

My Ipod is locked. Restoring the IPOD did not help and neither did hooking it up to the host computer. I can see the lock in the top left corner of the screen on the ipod itself, but when I detatch it from the computer it goes blank.Furthermore, I can't find anywhere on Itunes to unlock it and if I could find out how to unlock it I don't remember ever setting a password, much less what the password is. PLLLLLEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAASSSSSSSEEEEEEEEE help!!!!!!!!!!!

omg mines is doing the same thing. today i put it on hold and then i took it off. it was working and then the lock started blinking on the upper left hand of my ipod and then it locked and wont come off! ive had this ipod for 2 years since i was 13 and it has never done that! im so frustrated and im ready to cry.ive tried everything from restoring it to reseting it and still NOTHING! SOMEBODY HELP UP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi all. I want to reset my iPod but my passcode has become forgotten. I have tried 14 times to remember it to no avail. The reason I want to reset my iPod is that my brother downloaded a lot of useless and unplayable songs into my iPod and they won't play or delete :) Can anybody help or give some advice it's really getting on my nerves! :/

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
When it says place the iPod in recovery mode use this program
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

HELP...ipod locked up

My ipod is locked up. The display is showing the podcast I was listening to and no keys work. Is there any way to manually reset the device (turn it off or something by holding a key down or removing some sort of internal battery)?

is the hold toggle on? there is a button that slides on the top left of your iPod.
if there is orange showing, slide the switch so that its all the way to the left.
that should help if that's the case.
another thing to try is to hold down the center and menu buttons at the same time.
this resets the iPod.
if that doesn't work, connect the iPod to your computer and that should reactivate the iPod.

ive tried everything that ive seen listed but nothing seems to work. My issue is that Windows recognizes ipod but itunes doesn't. I would really apprecaite it if someone could help me with this issue.

Wow, I'm sorry to hear this is still happening. I had the same problem until this newest version of itunes. The thing that always worked for me earlier was the re-starting of the ipod service. I have nothing else.

Make iTunes 11 look and function more like iTunes 10:
From the upper left corner, choose “Show Menu bar”
From the “View” menu, choose, “Show Sidebar”
Now your iPod device shows up as is did before.

HELP: 1st Gen iPod Locking After 1.5 Update.

Ever since i applied the v1.5 update to my 1st Gen iPod, playback locks, using any menu function causes the iPod to lock; if I can get a song to play, half way through a song, the iPod locks of the apple logo shows up.
Can someone tell me how to go back to a previous version of the OS/Firmwere.
Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Sorry I do not know - but I suggest you try the following first
A. Diagnostic mode solution
If you have tried trouble shooting your iPod to no avail after all the steps above, chances are your iPod has a hardware problem. The iPod's built-in Diagnostic Mode is a quick and easy way to determine if you have a "bad" iPod.
You need to restart your iPod before putting it into Diagnostic Mode. Check that your hold switch is off by sliding the switch away from the headphone jack. Toggle it on and off to be safe.
Press and hold the following combination of buttons simultaneously for approximately 10 seconds to reset the iPod.
iPod 1G to 3G: "Menu" and "Play/Pause"
iPod 4G+ (includes Photo, Nano, Video, and Mini): "Menu" and "Select"
The Apple logo will appear and you should feel the hard drive spinning up. Press and hold the following sequence of buttons:
iPod 1G to 3G: "REW", "FFW" and "Select"
iPod 4G+ (includes Photo, Nano, Video, and Mini): "Back" and "Select"
You will hear an audible chirp sound (3G models and higher) and the Apple logo should appear backwards. You are now in Diagnostic Mode. Navigate the list of tests using "REW" and "FFW". Try to do the 5in1, HDD R/W and HDD scan tests. Some successful cases have been reported after the running the few tests under the Diagnostic mode. In case it does not work in your case, and the scan tests reports show some errors then it proves your iPod has a hardware problem and it needs a repairing service.

For Mac computer
1. Open the disk utility, hope your iPod appears there (left hand side), highlight it
2. Go to Tab “Partition”, click either “Delete” or “Partition”, if fails, skip this step and go to 3
3. Go to Tab “Erase” , choose Volume Format as “MAC OS Extended (Journaled), and click Erase, again if fails, skip it and go to 4
4. Same as step 3, but open the “Security Options....” and choose “Zero Out Data” before click Erase. It will take 1 to 2 hours to complete.
5. Eject your iPod and do a Reset
6. Open the iPod Updater and click “Restore”

HT1414 ipod locked up because forgot password and back it up to restore and now it comes up with "ipod cannot be restored error occured 2009" can you help me?

My Ipod locked up because I forgot my password when it opened to the lock screen and it then said IPod disabled connect to itunes. When we did that it asked to restore did that and backed up my ipod then restored. Now it says "IPod connect be restored and unknown error has occurred 2009". What do we need to do now"? Can someone please help?

The "device may need service" means a hardware problem. In that case make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

Same problem here, after istalling ios 6 on my iphone 4s my auto lock didnt work, but when i closed my assistive touch it worked again..I didnt have this problem in the 5.1.1 version. I dont wanna close the assistive touch tough....annoying problem !!!
Another problem occured in the settings of alarm clock. The sensivity of the on-off button is not as good as in the 5.1.1 version...
Hope they will fix this problem soon !!!

You would have to ask the Police how they can find your iPod, if it's even possible. Your warranty with Apple covers defects in materials and workmanship, not loss.
