IPod locks up with 1.2,... and how I got out of it.

It locked. No problem, checked what was tried, didn't feel like restoring/reinstalling everything. How I got out of it:
A) iPod stays connected no matter what.
B) Tried to restart iTunes, nothing ("Do No Disconnect" screen still on)
C) Restarted computer without disconnecting iPod
D) iPod now appears on desktop, but "Do No Disconnect" screen still on
E) iTunes fires up. iPod shows up, but, still, the "Do No Disconnect" screen still flashes.
F) Selected the iPod, then clicked on the "eject" button bottom right
G) iPod blinks out... and the "Do No Disconnect" screen goes away! =D
H) Disconnected the iPod
I) iPod now responds as before

I have a similar problem. I solved the problem as you did, but clicking the eject button. However, it seems that I have to do this nearly every time. If I plug it in, it will sync and finish. "Do not disconnect" goes away OK. However, if I choose 'sync' from the file menu, it will sync and then not clear when finished. I have to manually eject.

No app on the iPod is required.
- If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected, on a computer browser go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up or conbtinue to show off-line.
- You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.

- If not shown/shown off, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
- Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
- There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.
- Apple will do nothing without a court order

Apple does not transfer content bought with one Apple ID to another Apple ID. Apple will not merge two Apple IDs.
If most of your content was bought with the Yahoo! Apple ID but you now want the Gmail address for your Apple ID, the trick will be to change the address used for the Yahoo ID with the Gmail address. However, to do that you must first free the Gmail address from that other Apple ID. Use the instructions from Apple to substitute another address that is not used as an Apple ID for your Gmail address in the Apple ID with the Gmail address. Then, when the Gmail address is no longer used in an Apple ID, you can use the same instructions to substitute the Gmail address for the Yahoo address in the Apple ID with the Yahoo address.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If yu can't turn it off, then let the battery fully drain. After charging for at least an hour try again.
If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and service is required.

First, I would try the following suggested steps for when you don't see content in iTunes after updating:
Quit iTunes.
Download and install the latest version of iTunes.
Use the Finder (Mac) or Windows Explorer (Windows) to go to the iTunes folder that contains the iTunes library files:
Mac OS X
/Users/username/Music/iTunes/
Microsoft Windows Windows XP and Windows 2000
\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\
Microsoft Windows Windows Vista and Windows 7
\Users\username\Music\iTunes\
Drag the iTunes Library file from the above location to the Desktop.
Open the Previous iTunes Libraries folder in the iTunes folder.
Locate the file named iTunes Library YYYY-MM-DD where YYYY-MM-DD is the date you upgraded iTunes (Year-Month-Day).
Drag this file to the iTunes folder (the enclosing folder).
Rename this file to iTunes Library.
Open iTunes.
You should now see your missing content in iTunes.

I used the phone for about a month with no problems at all, even had my apple ID in the icloud and everything... well ios 7.0.6 came out and I used my computer to restore the phone, because I feel that the cord and computer gives it a better restore, it did great no problems, and when it went to the part where I went to activate the phone, I get a enter your apple id and password to complete activation... Wait... why is this up i thought, I thought I did everything like I suppose to to succesfully switch it to me, the new owner... but now its asking for some C******@yahoo.com.... I only have @gmail.com emails and none start with a C... The guy sold me the phone because he was switching to Verizon, and I tried to call him, and now the number is disconnected... I guess he switched to Verizon with a new number... Now im stuck with a paperweight that costed me $200.00... What can I do at this point... Please help me... Create a parent folder on your computer to store the named folders of photos that you want transferred to your iPhone. Under the Photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes, select the parent folder. All named folders of photos within will be transferred to your iPhone as separate folders or albums.
Regarding your 2nd question, this should be easy. Your contacts should be available on your computer with or without an iPhone or any cell phone, which can be lost or stolen.
Although contacts are included with your iPhone's backup which is updated by iTunes as the first step during the iTunes sync process, not a good idea to depend on this either since the iPhone backup includes a significant amount of other data. Contacts are designed to be synced with a supported address book app on your computer. With Windoze, this can be with Outlook 2003, 2007, or 2010 along with syncing calendar events and notes, or with the address book app used by Outlook Express with XP and by Windows Mail with Vista and Windows 7 called Windows Contacts for syncing contacts only.

Since you are having an issue with syncing to a different apple id. You may want to make sure you are signing in with the correct apple id.

What is wrong with icloud mail and how do I fix it?
I put the icloud mail login address in the browser, it brings up the login screen.
I put the login details in correctly, it says icloud has stopped responding, I always send to Apple.
It restarts and I get the right screen, below, but all of the icons are blurred out. If you hover over them they sometimes indicate what they are but won’t let me launch them.
I am using an Advent Laptop with a Celeron processor with Windows 7 and the browser is Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7. (I know I am expecting a lot of it). All of my software is up to date.
Any ideas? I a not very techy but I'm not afraid to have a go...it communit question. Thanks fr your help.
