IPod looks like it will play songs, but stays at 0:00
Something I haven't been able to find on this forum..
My wife's iPod doesn't play. You can select the song, it'll come up just like it's about to play, but as soon as it gets to that point, it just stops.
You can press pause, and the pause icon will come up.
You can press play, and the play icon will show, but it just stays at the 0:00 part of the song.
Even if you fast forward the song to the 33rd second, it'll just stay there after you stop FF.
It will also show up in iTunes will all the playlists/songs available
I've already tried resetting the iPod, but that didn't work.
I'm trying to avoid restoring the whole thing -- it just takes a long time and most of the music is located on my work computer.
Any hints as to what I can do to fix it short of restoring it?

5th Generation -- 30gig Windows XP It's got all the latest updates.
Hey this has happened to me a couple of times to but
my works if you leave it alone for awhile ( maybe i
just hit it in the right spot). However before this
happened for 3 weeks or so my ipod would randomely
stop playing if it is on hold. i think this is
related to a malfunction in teh feature were if you
take out the headpohones it stops playing. Did your
wife experience similar problems?
Recently my ipod has a near inaudible volume. it's up
all the way, hte max volume is up all way, and when i
adjust max volume the volume comes back but as soon
as i exit out of the adjustment it becomes quiet
again.
My ipod is working now just from fiddlings and
leaving it alone (temperature effect it?)
If your wife experienced any similar problems let me
know so i can send it in before it progresses to be
worse.

No.. leaving it alone doesn't seem to help. It's really kind of weird, it's like everything works except playback via headphones. I can actually play songs that are store on the ipod when connected to iTunes (i.e., on my computer). Just that headphones don't seem to work.

IPod looks like it is playing audio, but no sound
Every day or so, when I first start up my ipod there is no audio. The timeline shows that the song is playing and the the play icon is there. I can adjust the volume and navigate just fine, but there is no sound. The other symptom is that the time display always reads 12:00 when this happens.
Once I reset and come back the same song, it will play, I can hear it and the time is correct. So for some reason it appears to get stuck and doesn't output the audio.
Help?I'm pretty sure it just turns on. All seems normal. I go to play a song and there is no audio and then I notice that the time display seems reset to 12:00. If I switch songs or move into a song with the slider, no effect. It just seems to play but no audio. I've tried switching earphones.
Once I reset, everything is back to expected normal. -
I dont know what to do I need help to fix this, my entire life is on that thing!
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

My itunes won't work on my Windows 7 anymore. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled SEVERAL times, but to no avail. It consistantly freezes, won't open or doesn't work correctly. The only way I can get it to close anymore is to go to the task manager and 'end process' itunes. I do get an error at the beginning saying " the registry settings used by the itunes drivers for importing and burning CD's and DVD's are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please re-install itunes." I have searched the internet for possible fixes to no avail. Please help...anyone!
Lets see whether this file APSDaemon.exe is the problem here.
Close your iTunes.
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del key and choose Task Manager. In the "Processes" Tab, select the file APSDaemon.exe and click End Prosses button, then close the task manager window.
Now open itunes and see if it is working? -
My MacBook Air was processing extremely slowly so I did a forced shut down. Now when I go to turn it back on, it just spins and won't load. Help?

after updating iOS on my iPod touch 4th gen my Philips speaker dock DC290B/37 no longer charges the iPod. It will play music but not charge, is there anyway to find out if Apple is working on an update/fix?
Try:
- Reset the dock
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
Otherwise you are out of luck. Apple is not making any more update for the 4G.
Also check with Phillips. Maybe they have an firmware update available -

I have a 3rd generation IPod and the screen is black - it is fully charged and will play music but there is nothing to be seen on the screen. I have no idea how to fix this. We live in France now so any of the fixes have to be in English since I can't read French. Any advise would be greatly appreaciated. I looked at some of the other answers but I have no idea where the Hold button would be on this. Thanks.

I'm also having a music issue. When my phone is attached to the computer (mac running 10.6.8) it looks like my music is there but its gray and I can't play anything. I've tried to delete it and it won't let me but it does not show up on my phone.
By the way, I have tried shutting of the display switching in the power settings. That was basically the only real answer I found anywhere. It didn't work.

The ipod will play music but I can not see the screen. It remains blank.
By blank I assume you mean completely white is that correct?
If none of the usual 5 R's of troubleshooting do any good, you'll need to have the iPod either serviced or replaced as the LCD screen or ribbon cable is damaged or faulty.

My Ipod Touch 3rd gen continuously disconnects when connected to another accessory either by cable or aux cable. It disconnects within 30 seconds. If later replugged by aux cable it will play properly, but ipod cable continues to disconnect continuously. Any ideas?

This ipod is new...even though older version. It is 4th generation. Only used 2-3 times. Had worked fine. Loaded new songs on it, now will ocaisionall play songs, but wheel does not work....always seems locked....tried multiple times to reset and that even will not work. PLease help...going on vacation and reall yneed to take this! Thanks for any help!
