IPod Mail 1.1.3 - Return to inbox after delete message

Hi.
I'm wondering if there's a way to have the iPod return to the Inbox after deleteing a message, instead of what it currently does which is moving on to the next message. This has horribly detremental effects as if the next message happens to have been an un-read one, and I didn't realize it and just back out after deleting the message, the message isn't marked as unread anymore.
If this isn't available in the current update, could this please be added for the next update?
Thank you for any information.

No, there's no option for that.
Apple doesn't read these boards, generally speaking, so send feedback:

  • Is there a setting to return to the inbox after deleting/filing an open email?

    Hi all,
I'm running iPhone 4s. Is there a setting to have the mail client return to the inbox after deleting/filing an open email? It currently just opens the next email.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
You could try is to '''Disable''' the Foxit, Adobe and Office '''Plugins''' in '''Tools '''('''Alt '''+ '''T''') > '''Add-ons''' and use the normal Firefox Open with (when you click on a link) to browse/open it in the required application.

  • Deleted messages returned to inbox after keying command shift L incorrectly

I was in the process of flagging a message and for learning purposes attempted to do it with the keystroke combination rather than simply selecting the acton. silly me! The combination of flagging a message is command shift L but instead of using the shift key I used the page up or arrow up key. suddenly a bunch of messages that had been deleted returned in a grayed out state. I tried re-deleting them, selecting specfic inbox folders for example. I had some success but not all will go away. and now I just labeled a new message as junk and the message goes to the junk folder but a grayed out message with a flag symbol stays in the inbox and won't go away. What did I do when I messed up that key combination? I looked at some of the other related issues on this discussion. I did some research into the preferences and into whether or not there are the correct deleted messages folders in the pop account folders. I found some inconsistancies but since I've never been to those folders before I don't know if things were any different before my keystroke mistake. I just want to go back to the default situation that I had set up before this booboo. I had created 3 pop accounts and I may have had some preferences on the deleted items folders, but essentially deleted messges were going to the trash and I think they were in the trash. I probably hadn't been emptying the trash. Weird, on my PC when i deleted a message it was gone. with Mac they seem to be in a trash folder which must then be emptied. interesting. > Cutting the messages seems to disappear them for now...
but I don't trust where they are going.
What do you mean? They don’t go anywhere (well, they go to a temporary storage area so that you can paste them). That’s precisely why it works.
I want to understand why the delete button doesn't function as it should.
Probably because there is something wrong with the messages themselves that prevents Mail from being able to handle them properly in general and from moving them to any other mailbox in particular. If Edit > Cut didn’t work (and sometimes it doesn’t), you’d have to manually get rid of the associated *.emlx files and re-create the index afterwards.

  • Iphone go to inbox after deleting mail

When I delete mail on my iPhone it goes to the next message in my inbox? How can I change this to go back to the inbox, instead of the next message after deleting?

  • 'Undo' no longer working in Outlook inbox after a message delete

I've been using Outlook 2010 for a couple of years; I used to occasionally use 'Undo' (or ctrl-Z) to bring back a message I had just deleted from Inbox after reading it. It was a limited undo - I could only bring back the one message - but it did get back
a single message if I had just been a bit too hasty with the Del key.
Now recently that no longer works - instead of getting the message back, after a few seconds I get a dialog message "Cannot undo. Operation failed. The item was either moved or deleted after it was copied, or you do not have permission". If I go
to the 'Deleted Items' folder the message is there and can be either opened or dragged back to the Inbox, so I can get it back but it is a nuisance to lose the quick undo.
Has this behavior been changed by a software update? I don't believe I have changed any account settings or Outlook option settings, but if this is controlled by an option can someone point me to it? I've tried searching the 'Help' and found nothing relevant.
    Thanks in advance
    Steve M.

I suspect that you have only downloaded message header and the headers that were not yet downloaded remain marked for deletion, and there is not an option on the
Edit menu to undelete the selected item.
Go to Define Send/Receive Group and set download message completely for your account.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/281366
When you delete a header and delete a downloaded message item, it is two distinct processes. When you click an item and either drag it to the deleted items folder (in Microsoft Outlook) or click the
Delete button, the item is moved from the Inbox folder to the Deleted Items folder. If you click
Undelete, it moves the item back. If you delete a header (the item has not yet been downloaded), it only marks the item for deletion. Until the command to delete is sent back to the e-mail server where the item still remains, the item is not
un-marked for deletion. This is the difference between client-side processing and server-side processing. Until the server receives the command to delete the message, the item remains marked for deletion. The only way to "unmark" the item is to right-click
that item, and then click to select Unmark selected headers.

  • Delivery gets created in VL01N - Return scenario even after error message

    Hi,
I am having following issue explained in details in steps -
We have a service return scenario and following steps have been followed in ECC.
Material code used in this case is batch managed material.
    Step 1 u2013
We have created a sales order(VA01) with document type ZRE(Itu2019s a kind of return order). This return order actually coming from CRM.
    Step 2 u2013
We are creating delivery using VL01N transaction for return order.
    Step 3 u2013
We avoid giving batch number in VL01N and try to save the delivery document. System prompt error saying u201CEnter batchu201D. Subsequently we press return keys to cancel the error message and try to come out of the transaction.
    Step 4 u2013
Instead inputting batch number, we try come out of the document creation step.
    Step 5 u2013
We go to document flow button of sales order and we could see the delivery created although we came out of the delivery creation process after the error message, without saving the document.
Also note instead of coming out of the document creation, if we again try to save the document, system throws update termination with a reason saying u201CError info... ABAP/4 processor: SAPSQL_ARRAY_INSERT_DUPRECu201D, which is quite obvious as system has already created the delivery and we are trying to create / save the document once again in VL01N
    We are in dilemma now.
What is the cause of this abnormal behaviour? I don't know.
Any one experienced this, feedback is appreciated,
    Regards,
    Dipak

    Hi,
The SAPSQL_ARRAY_INSERT_DUPREC error is not bothering me much.
My worry is once "Enter batch" error message comes, I am not interested to create the delivery any more.
So I come out of the transaction by pressing return key.
Now when I press return key, system gives me the delivery number, this should not be the case as message given was an error message.
If I go to the SE16N, I could see the delivery number in database.
Also system prompts me to save the delivery which I am not interested to do, just I want to come out after error message.
What could be the reason, I don't know. Ever after error message system gives you the delivery.
    Which is very strange.
    Any input is apprecited,
    Regards,
    Dipak

  • Return to 'inbox' after opening an email & then deleting

When I open a file from inbox, read and then delete or forward, it doesn't return to my inbox, just the next email. If I keeping opening and then need to go back to inbox, I need to use the arrow which goes through every email before ending at the inbox. Can take a long time. Need to set it but don't know how. Please help someone.

I preume you are opening email in a new tab or window.
To force the tab to close on 'Delete' or Move do this:
Tools > Options > Advanced > 'Reading & display' tab
    or
Menu icon > Options > Options > Advanced > 'Reading & display' tab
    * Select - put a check in - 'Close message window/tab on move or delete'
    * click on OK
You can choose to view emails in the lower Message Pane. The Message Pane is not some sort of 'preview', it is the same as viewing in a tab or window and ideal for reading smaller emails.
    You can enable this using:
View > Layout > Message Pane
    or
Menu icon > Options > Layout > Message Pane
or toggle the view with '''F8''' key

  • Site "crashes" when attempting to return to inbox after full scan and numerous crash reports.

Problem just began on 1/25/13. Can view any site on hotmail window or web browser. When finished with site and attempt to return to Firefox site by either X in viewed site or back arrow site crashes and comes up with a crash report site.
I have been sending reports and then attempting to reconnect using reconnect. No solution.
I now cancel reconnect to return to Firefox Mozilla and then hit Hotmail in Most viewed.
    Very clumsy.
Please advise simple and easy to UNDERSTAND for non teckie.
    thanks

I was able to enter "about crashes" it referred me back to your directions about an "address bar".
You have to be very simple with me. I have entered the requested information on every place I could on your web browser with no joy.
Where exactly on you site do I enter "about crashes"?
The "address bar" is not noted on my computer or in any help source that I have attempted to find. Please bear with me, I am just a user and not a skilled one at that. I enter sites wherever I can get results.
As an afterthought, your web browser only shows 3 or 4 places to enter requests:
    1. standard web addresses
    2. search requests
    3. Foxfire requests (in center of page).
Again I have tried all 3 with no joy and a lot of frustration. My research shows that the requested information would be very helpful but does not tell me how to access (for "dummies")
    thanks again

  • Undo delete message command in Mail Exchange account doesn't work post Yosemite

Before I installed Yosemite on my MacBook Air, I was able to undo a message deleted in Mail Exchange 2010 account with menu command (Undo Delete Message) or Command-Z.  Even with recent updates to 10.10.1 which were supposed to address Mail-Exchange 2010 account issues, it does not work. I have to go into deleted messages and manually restore to Inbox.  Is anybody else having this problem?

  • How to delete message from the fodler of  AOL account using Java mail

    Hello All,
I am using Java MAil API in my application, i want to delete message from AOL account's folder,
when i set the folder as "Recently Deleted" or "Trash" , i get an exception as "folder does not exist".
when i tested , some times mail is moving into Recently Deleted folder, but not every time.
this is happening in both the interface as AOl Interface or my application.
when i use folder.close(true) after setting the flag of message as DELETED. it completely remove the message from the acount.
but i want to let the message be remained in the Recently Deleted folder. what should i do.
i dont want to remove the message completely from the account.I am using IMAP also.

You'll need to figure out what the real name of the "Recently Deleted" folder is on the AOL IMAP server
(assuming it's a real folder and not some sort of "virtual" folder), then copy the message into that folder.
See the folderlist.java demo program as a way to explore the names of all the folders on the server.

  • SMS Inbox full, even after deleted tons of messages.

It says my SMS inbox is full even after I deleted TONS of conversations. What should I do!? I already did reset all settings.
    Help please! =(

for some reason it has to do with the iOS5 update that was released yesterday that I upgraded my 3gs phone on before buying a 4s today.  i've been frustrated with it but just figured it out or at least got mine to work.
i had spent a good bit of today deleting messages thinking that would do it.  i spoke to AT&T (clueless) where I got my new 4s phone today and did some research here on apple's website and was put on hold by an apple rep for an hour today.  from googling i found that your phone supposedly holds 75,000 messages but it must be less than that or have a different way of calculating it than you might think.  here's why.
you have more messages than you think.  a lot of my conversations went back to 2008.  there was one person in particular that i had exchanged a good number of messages with but i wanted to keep those so after deleting messages all day and getting nowhere i decided to figure out how to export SMS messages that i wanted to save.  there is an app called SMS Export and that did the trick.  I ran it and was suprised to see that after all of my deleting today i still had 61,000 messages.  so i exported this one person I had exchanged 20,000 messages with and deleted her messages from my phone leaving me with 41,000.  i restarted my phone and when it booted back up the new texts starting flowing through, 17 in all missed today.
    back in business!

  • Deleted Mail keeps returning to INBOX - please advise!

Please help me. I am trying to clean out my inbox because it has gotten out of control, I have over 4000 messages and I am trying to delete them in bulk.
This is what I have been doing: I highlight messages then select delete. Then, I go to the mailbox menu and select permanently delete messages - i have been doing this periodically throughout the entire process.
Then, at some point Mail quits unexpectedly. When I reopen the application ALL of the messages that I thought I had deleted are back!!
Any advice would be most appreciated.

Assuming this is a POP account and you can somehow manage to do the following without Mail crashing (you may take Mail offline to avoid new mail being downloaded while you try to fix the problem), try this:
    1. Create a custom “On My Mac” mailbox (Mailbox > New Mailbox).
    2. Instead of deleting the messages you don’t want to keep, move the messages you do want from Inbox to this newly created mailbox. Make sure that they are transferred correctly and you don’t miss anything.
    3. Quit Mail.
    4. In the Finder, go to the ~/Library/Mail/POP-username@mailserver/ account folder.
    5. Locate INBOX.mbox and move it to the Desktop (to be deleted after fixing the problem).
    6. Open Mail. A new (empty) INBOX.mbox will automatically be created within the account folder.
    7. Move the messages in the “On My Mac” mailbox back to Inbox if that’s where you want them to be.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder.

  • Mail and Address Book: Deleted email returns to Inbox

    Hello all and happy holidays...
That is until just a while ago, my Mail keeps receiving two similar emails (one with attachment) of Xmas Specials and offerings from one of the vendor/shop I visited. When I click on the mail itself, I just see the "loading..." in the message body, no pics, no text, assuming it is a large graphic-based or something email, *so I tried deleting them, only to have them re-appear again in the IN box.*
*I just simply can't get rid of them!* Every time I delete them, they disappear from the IN box, I click the Trash icon, they are there, I further delete them, and when I click back the IN box, they are back again
It has become an annoyance! I call the shop and they said their marketing dept will take me off the email list, but they can't help me on the immediate problem, *how to trash these email away permanently?* They actually ask me to call AppleCare Hotline...! Gosh, I know about AppleCare Hotline and they will go through you the 1001 steps to diagnose your system one step at a time, I just thought this is the vendor's "problem" and they should be able to fix the problem for me!
So anyone, hope someone's home and getting online here, if you know how to, please help.
Thanks a zillion and Merry Xmas!

Move the offending file to the Trash and make sure that Trash does not contain any files you may want to retain.
    Shut down Mail.
From the Finder click on Go>Home.
    Double click on the Library.
option drag the Mail folder to the desktop.
This should make a copy of the Mail folder.
Once you are sure that Mail is backed up, open the Mail folder in the Library.
Open the Mailboxes folder and open the Deleted Messages.mbox>Messages folder.
Drag any messages in the folder to the trash can in the Dock.
    Empty Trash.
Now reopen the Mail folder and locate the MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded3 and the Envelope Index files and drag them to the desktop.
Next close all windows and open the Mail program.

  • Deleted mail does not go to trash file and returns to inbox

I'm running OS 10.6.2 and Mail 4.2. When I delete mail on my MacBook PRO, the message goes away, but doesn't go into my trash file. When I refresh mail, the deleted messages come back. I'm using exchange server, and I have no problems deleting mail from my iPhone or web mail. In addition, I have other mail accounts that allow me to delete mail without any other issues. I've rebuilt my mail database (mailbx - rebuild), and even deleted the mail account and reloaded it from exchange. HELP!

In that case, if the account in question is an admin account, you would just tack "sudo" on at the beginning:
    sudo rm -rf ~/.Trash
If the affected account is not an admin account, you need to log in to an admin account and do this:
    sudo rm -rf /Users/theusername/.Trash
...where "theusername" should be the name of the user folder with the broken trash.
