IPOD main menu has no "songs" list

I just bought my first mac laptop and am thrilled with all the new stuff there is to play with. I also have my first IPOD with video (30 gb) and am endeavering to load it with music and sync the ITUNES list to the IPOD, but there is no "Songs" listed on the main menus. All if have is Photos, Videos, Extras, Settings and Shuffle Songs.
Not sure how or where to go to change this.

On your iPod, go to Settings > Main Menu and see what options you have selected to on. If Music isn't set to on, it won't show in your main menu.

IPod Main Menu question

When I go into the iPod Main Menu it lists different options such as Playlists, Artist, Albums, Compilations, etc...all of them are marked as off. What does this mean? What difference does it make if they are marked as on?
The wonderful manual that comes with the iPod didn't mention anything about this.

these options in the "main menu" menu are just all of the features you can enable or disable on the main menu of the iPod, the main menu being the last one you come to when pressing menu repeatedly to go to the previous menu.

Scrolling display of album covers in iPod main menu.. gone

Hi,
My subject heading does not really make it clear what my query is- it was hard to think of a subject heading that would be self-explanatory! So here goes:
The problem itself is not crucial to the functioning of my iPod, but slightly puzzling. In the main iPod menu (i.e the one that has the headings 'music', 'videos', 'photos' 'podcasts' etc) there has been a puzzling change. Previously when I went to the heading at the top of the list ('music'), there would be a 'scrolling' display of the album art for the various playlists I had synced to my iPod. Now, it does not appear at all.
As I mentioned, hardly the problem of the century, but it was a nifty little feature and one that I liked. (I should add that once I have selected a playlist to listen to I do get the album art for that particular playlist).
Does anyone know why it has disappeared and how I can get it back? Many thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

It's not a fault, it's a feature...
That's the way it has been since the Classic line was introduced, you just get the grey podcast logo of a person and three concentric(ish) rings.

HELP!!!!!!!! iPod Shuffle still has unwanted songs

ok. here's my problem. I have songs in my ipod shuffle I don't want in it. I just recently bought it and still learning how to deal with it. how do I delete the unnwanted songs?

Connect your iPod to your computer, wait for it to be recognized in iTunes. When it is listed under "devices," click on it. Then, click on the "Contents" tab. Right click on the unwanted song, and click delete.
Then you can go back to your Music Library and drag your new songs over, or you can autofill the iPod from your library or from a playlist by clicking on "autofill" at the bottom of the Contents tab.

I recently got a new computer and installed itunes, i connected my ipod and it has some songs that i downloaded legally from my other computer, if i sync my ipod..will i lose the songs downloaded? thanks

Yes.
You need to copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.
You can transfer itunes purchases from your ipod: File>transfer Purchases

Discrepancy between iTunes library and synced iPod song list

I am sure there must be a really simple answer to this, but heck if I know.
My iTunes library on my PC has 1614 songs, yet despite my iPod being sync'd, my song list shows only 1588 songs.
So, 25 tracks have not loaded - why is this? Surely there should be exactly the same number of tracks in my song list?
H E L P - its driving me mad.

I have a 24 track difference between my itunes library and my song list in my synced ipod. Really bugging me as I don't know why - have ensured all songs are checked, but still no answer. Where are the missing 24 songs?

Apple TV has changed main menu

Hi,
I have an Apple TV 2nd Gen. I live in BA Argentina, and after I've updated my Apple TV the main menu has changed, now I only have as menu "Internet - Computer - Settings", can't see the rest of the menu any more (Movies - Netflix - TV Shows - Music). What can I do in order to have them back?

I saw the same thing on my ATV2 after the most recent (4.4.3) update . . . The menu was the one you described, but after a couple of minutes the menu updated itself.
I'd suggest rebooting the ATV2. You could always try a reset to see if that helps.

Finer organization from main menu

My apologies up front, as I'm new to all this. I just got an iPos Classic and started using iTunes 9 to load it up. I've loaded hundreds of albums to the iPod successfully. Is there any way to set up a finer level of organization from the iPod main menu? For instance, I would like to have an item called "Dad's CD's," one called "Mom's CD's," etc. Choosing "Dad's CD's" might give entries for "Jazz," "Rock," etc. Choosing "Jazz" would go to a list of his jazz albums.

You can create Playlists, and nest them into *Playlist Folders.*
In iTunes, click on *File/New Playlist Folder* and rename it "Dad's CDs". Then create a *New Playlist* and rename that as "Jazz". Drag it into the "Dad's CDs" folder if you didn't create it in there. Then add your choice of songs to "Jazz". Create another Playlist and rename that as "Rock", then add songs as desired. Repeat as required.
Sync the playlists to your iPod and you're done.
If Playlists is not already shown on your iPod's Main Menu, navigate to *Settings/Main Menu* and turn on (tick) the Playlists option.

My ipod ramdomly deleted all my songs

I plugged in my ipod mini and went to the music store to get a new song. I found the song I wanted, Bought it, and tried to update the song onto my ipod. When the computer said it was ok to disconnect the ipod because it had finished updating my ipod, I did and I went to the main menu(on the ipod mini) went to the song lists that are supposed to have all my songs on them in alphabetical order and it was completely blank. I had updated my iTunes account to the latest virsion just before this happened. PLEASE HELP! I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO DO!

Album art on song list view?

So I was just watching a TV spot for the iPhone and I noticed that on the demo when the iPod button is pressed, the song list shows up. On the Song list, I (just now) noticed that apparently the album art is showing up on the left of the song title. Additionally, the video tutorial here on Apple's site shows the same thing.
My question is this: When in iPod mode, my iPhone will display album art when I select a song, or when I rotate the iPhone to landscape view but not while I'm viewing the song list. Is there a way to get album art for a song to display in the list and if so, how?

When you view Albums in a list.
On the iPod vertical view, there is a MORE button on the bottom right. You hit that, hit Albums, and the songs list out one by one with little covers on the left.

Itunes 10- Song List View is just a black screen!!

I recently updated to itunes 10, initially it was working fine. Today, my computer bugged out while shutting down and I had to hold the power button on it. When it rebooted I scanned for viruses, errors, adware, etc... I have re-downloaded itunes and selected the 'Repair' option, but it did not help. I have made sure I am up-to-date on both itunes and quicktime updates. I have not seen any similar problems such as this while searching the internet, so I am posting here. If I hit the play button it will still play the songs from whatever playlist I am currently in, and the grid view works, but when I want to view the song list (which is the way i always use my itunes) it just turns the window within itunes, the window that has the song list, completely black. This happens for all of my playlists, recently added, full music collection, any playlist that can be viewed using the song list view. Is there anyone who has also experienced this? What can I do? It took me over 10 hours to create this playlist with the large amount of music I have and I would not be happy to have to sit there an go brain dead again creating it.... please help!

Tylerdowner, as a moderator, one would think that, prior to adjusting comments/solutions, especially when not having a Mac, you would do more research (bet you know someone with a Mac, to duplicate problem), or pass responding on to a moderator who does have a Mac (I am amazed that you are even a moderator on Mac problems/situations, if you only have access to a PC). Had the solutions above worked, I would not have needed to figure out another solution (we all know the newest release of anything is the most secure). Finally I am open to any fixes (tested) that you can provide, that improve upon mine. As a moderator, maybe you have pull with the Foxtab and/or Adobe people to get them to work out compatibility, and lastly, maybe add a warning at the Foxtab add-ons page, after verifying the problem yourself, with an associate's/friend's Mac.

No Audio on Main Menu - Please post if you are having this issue....

I am having trouble getting any audio on the main menu. I can drag and drop audio files (non-DRM) to all my menus, and it shows up in the inspector, but when I preview or burn a disc, the main menu has no audio. All of the sub-menus have the audio just fine, but not the main.
I'm currently using the 'Stretch' theme...
Again, all sub menus work just fine, but the same audio will not play on the main menu.
Does anyone have a solution?

I've stumbled onto the reason for this problem. It's because you unintentionally muted your audio for this menu. To resolve it do the following:
1. Open the menu where you are having audio problems
2. Click on the drop zone icon to open the drop zones
3. Move the music (the iTunes music notes) that you've placed here out of the menu box
4. By getting the music icon out of the way, you will reveal a tiny black sound/audio icon
5. If you strain your eyes and look real close you will see that there are no sound waves coming out of the sound icon
6. Click on the icon and tiny black sound waves will appear
7. You have now "unmuted" your menu
8. Drop your music selection back into the menu drop zone
9. You now have sound!

My ipod warranty ran out a few months ago I have a nano 5th gen. The problem is that if I want to play a song it would show the album artwork for about 3 seconds and go back to the main menu with no music playing. It'snot the head phones or ear jack. help
