IPod might be broken completely?

So my iPod mini got wet. The screen did funny things, like turn all black, then the apple appeared, then the iPod turned on and started playing music and refused to turn off, so I let it play until the battery died (there was no way I could turn it off.) The next day, I recharged it and it turns on and works, except it erased all my music. Now when I plug it into the computer, the computer won't read it no matter what I do...i have done everything from re-install iTunes to restarting my computer. Nothing works! How do I get my computer to read my iPod again?

First Try  these five steps (known as the five Rs) and it would conquer most iPod issues.
http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/
If does not work then
Go to folder “My Computer”
Hope you can see your iPod there and right click on the iPod
Choose “Format”. Ensure the settings are at “Default” and that “Quick Format” is not checked
Now select “Format”
Eject your iPod and do a Reset
Open the iPod Updater and click “Restore”

so when i turn on my ipod the apple logo appears and then the warning picture of the ipod comes on. anyone know how to fix this?

Does your iPod make a grinding sound when starting up? This may mean a broken hard drive, in which case you might want to call apple. Same thing happened to mine.

I know the problem is probably not in built-in.o but somewhere else.
Of course I ran `make mrproper` in the mentioned directory before I rebuilt over and over again, enabling and disabling several modules, like Mountainjew did in this topic. I even tried to download the complete source tree again, but to no avail.
Does anyone know if there's currently a problem with one of the kernel modules or with the ZEN sources in general?

Stupid me! I overlooked this error message:
    kernel/softirq.c: In function 'run_ksoftirqd':
kernel/softirq.c:719:4: error: implicit declaration of function 'rcu_note_context_switch'
Some searching resulted in a post in the Gentoo forums, saying that CONFIG_BRIDGE_IGMP_SNOOPING is the culprit. I noticed that flag wasn't enabled at all, but two posts below it turned out that using Classic RCU can cause troubles. I switched to Tree RCU and my kernel was built successfully (though this still sounds like a bug to me).

  • IPod charger is broken, it goes on and off every time it moves, what's wrong?

My iPod charger is broken. My IPod 5 is fine, but the lightning cable may seem to be bent or just broken, it could be the wires but I'm not so sure.
Every time it moves back and forth the charging goes on and off, I'm not so sure what is happening

You should try another USB cable or get it serviced by Apple if a new cable does not work either.

  • Wiki registration might be broken

I'm trying to create an account for the arch wiki, I'm thinking I'm entering the output wrong, except it's copied directly from the terminal, but than I thought my username had to be lowercase so tried that then used my standard 28 character password and the page just refreshes and just removes my password.
When I registered for the forums it was pretty much the same question, to answer that I had to do this.
    date -u +%W$(uname)
    Which outputs
    23Linux
than I just had to put this in.
    echo '23Linux'|sha256sum|sed 's/\W//g'
which outputs a scramble of numbers and letters, I got 31b5(first 4) and the last 4 were 96ea.
The wiki registration might be broken.
I even just copied it directly, did get a different output, but was the exact same length and was also a scramble of letters and numbers. Both started with a 3.

I've tried charging it, letting it discharge, I've tried things I found on the internet but nothing seems to be working. What can I do?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

my iPod speaker is broken, i bought it one year ago, can you fix that for free?

You are not address ing Apple here, we are all just users like yourself.
If the headphones work but not the speaker:
    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
If the speaker still does not work, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

My iPod screen has broken. I want to repair it. How much screen do I pay for?

Apple does not repair iPod screens, they replace the entire unit.  Cost varies based on the generation and capacity of the iPod Touch.  To repair you need to find an Authorized Apple Service Provider...do not use a non-authorized repair service as that will void all future support and help from Apple.

If the problem was not cased by operator error, then Apple will exchange it at no cost. You can do it at an Apple store or contact an Apple Authorized Service Provider
If you have reviewed those articles and still need service for your iPod, you can contact Apple or take your iPod to your local Apple Authorised Service Provider, where available.
