IPod mini and recently played songs

I have an iPod mini 6GB which I sync automatically with iTunes.. My playcounts and recently played-date/time is registered in iTunes as it should when I sync with iTunes, BUT 50% of the songs I listen to on the iPod, does not show up in my "recently played" -playlist on my iPod! The same playlist in iTunes is 100% correct though, it is only the iPod! It's like it doesn't know that those songs have been played (but iTunes does)! And this is a problem for me since I submit my last played songs to www.last.fm and I want to submit ALL the songs I listen to on my iPod, not just 50% of them! I have had this problem from time to time before, but in the last weeks it has been like this every day!
Does someone know what is wrong and what I can do about it? I'm so tired of having to play songs over again in itunes when I get home, in order to get them submitted to last.fm..

Make sure you have Enable live updating ticked in the playlist. (Get Info on the playlist)

  • IPod mini won't play songs since update

Recently, I had trouble using the Apple online music store, and couldn't preview any of the tracks on the CD I wanted to purchase. So... I finally downloaded the new iTunes software and bought four songs. The songs appear in my library, and show up on my mini, but when my "Shuffle Songs" gets around to them, they don't play. The title and artist pop up as if it's going to play, but it just skips over to the next song. The songs play perfectly fine from my laptop on iTunes, just not on my mini. And all my old songs are fine, just not the new ones I got after the iTunes update. Anyone have a similar problem??

I have the exact same problem. It just started doing this yesterday out of nowhere. I have been reading the postings and it looks as if heaps of people are having this problem. Do you know if Apple is doing anything to address this issue? I was thinking about trading this one in for a 20 GB iPod since they aren't even going to be making the mini's anymore.

  • Ipod mini skips recently downloaded songs

On occasion, my ipod mini will skip over recently downloaded songs. Does anyone know how I can fix this problem or what I'm doing wrong?

    See this article first.

  • Ipod mini won't plays songs, keeps skipping

I've had my ipod mini for the last year but 4 to 5 months ago it stopped working and I'm just now finding the time to deal with this. My ipod is a mess and I'm not sure if it can even be fixed without some technician messing around with it but any help would be GREATLY appreciated. This is a long one...
    The problem was:
When I selected a song from a playlist (or any category) to play it, the song information would pop up on the screen and it would play the first milisecond of the song and then the next song on the list would pop up and the ipod would do the same thing. It would do this over and over for every song on the playlist until it reached the end of the list. It did this for every category. I restarted it and NOTHING worked. But at least it turned on then. Now it doesn't.
    The problem now:
I reset my ipod and took all of the songs off of iTunes, just in case. When I tried to turn the ipod back on, the folder with the exclamation point alert popped up and now the ipod won't turn on at all.
I put songs back into iTunes and tried to update my ipod and iTunes said that it was importing the songs but the ipod still won't turn on. I reset it once again just in case and I didn't put any more songs in it because that just seems to make it worse. So now the ipod has no songs in it and it still won't turn on.
It keeps giving me the same alert after a few minutes of the apple symbol and I've plugged it into my computer and it says that it's charging but it will do nothing else but charge.

step 1: try to restore it. this will remove everything on the ipod. then it will make sure it is current and nothing will be left on the ipod. then, just reload your music

  • Ipod Mini is not playing songs

I put 74 songs on my ipod mini today. Whenever I select a song the meter at the bottom says 0:00 and skips it. I tried reseting and that did nothing.

If they are iTunes purchased songs this has been a problem in the past.
I am sure there are threads on this site that will give you some options, I also wrote about this one in the past on my own site - http://www.kuite.com/mt/archives/2005_07.html#000482

  • IPOD Mini will not play songs - "shuffles" from start to finish

I don't know why this is occurring, but it shuffles from the first song to the last. It will not play anything at all. Very annoying. Any input would be appreciated as it appears as though this is a recurring problem.

  • IPod mini doesn't play ANY songs!!! Please Help

My iPod mini doesn't play any songs. It doesn't play purchased music from the iTunes Music Store, ripped CDs, or ANYTHING. On the iPod I go to play a song but the music time counter remains on 0:00. When it does this faint sounds of the song trying to start can be heard, but then a lot of static comes up. A song did start once but it stoped at 7 seconds. I've tried the 5 Rs and everything I can think of! Please Help!

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • My 4G Ipod shuffle does not play songs in the correct order? Already restored to factory settings and no success.. Can anybody help me?

My 4G Ipod shuffle does not play songs in the correct order? Already restored to factory settings and no success.. Can anybody help me?

I FINALLY GOT IT! after months of relentless synching/autofilling problems on my 4th generation i figured out the solution.
this is what i did: plugged in ipod on off mode~>manually deleting my ipod's songs~>restored factory settings~>unchecked automatic synch~>made a new playlist with exactly the songs & order i wanted for my ipod (just dragged old playlists into the new one)~>then autofilled that new playlist into my ipod. came out like a charm! (before u autofill UNCHECK random add songs)
my ipod always ended up autofilling/synching my customized playlists wrong or it would automatically do my music library (and that was way unorganized), so this worked.

  • HT1926 I have an ipod touch and recently updated my itunes and now my ipod keeps saying it is in recovery and needs to be restored.  I keep attempting to do it (as it takes about 45 min.) and afterwards I get the same message.  The screen tells me to plug

I have an ipod touch and recently performed the latest updates of itunes.  It said there were problems with my ipod and it need to be restored.  I did that and now it says it's in recovery mode and that I need to restore it.  It takes 45 minutes and I've tried it several times and keep getting same message.  My ipod is now unusable and it has a photo of a plug with an itunes icon telling me to plug it in.  It is plugged in???  I restarted the computer, tried another computer, reset my ipod and nothing.  Help!

    If not successful try:

  • I have a Ipod touch and recently added new music to my itunes library on my laptop. When I sync with my ipod, the new music does not show up on my ipod even though the sync process seems to be working.

I have an Ipod touch and recently added new music to my Itunes library. When I sync with the library, the new music does not show up on my ipod. The sync process seems to be working and there is still plenty of space on the Ipod for new music so I'm not sure what the problem is!

What happens when you try to sync?
Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?

Do you have any Restrictions (Settings>General>Restrictions) set that would prevent syncing those songs?

  • IPod Mini and iTunes 7

I have an iPod Mini and I recently downloaded iTunes 7.0.1. For some reason, my podcasts won't import to the podcasts folder on my iPod. Is there any way to work around this, or will I just have to listen to them under songs instead?
    Dean

First, I have to say that video potcast won't be synced to a iPod without the video feature. Okay,... If that isn't the problem then plug in your iPod and open iTunes. Click the iPod icon on your source list. Click the "Podcast" tab on the top and check sync all podcasts. If that is already selected, then you should select "selected podcasts" and check everyone of them.

  • Ipod mini and ihome clock radio

I've been searching this forum for info on problems using my iHome with my ipod mini, and others seem to be having the same problems, but are assuming it's a glitch with the mini, not the iHome.
I used my mini with my iHome for a few days with no problems. Suddenly, when I docked my mini, it showed nothing but the apple icon, and was frozen. I checked the connection, tried using the mini by itself, still frozen. I followed the mini instructions for resetting, and got it working again. Docked it in the iHome, played 5 seconds of a song, and it froze up again. Reset again, and mini is working fine, but this happens every time I try it in the iHome. Computer recognizes mini just fine, iTunes working ok, battery fine.
Anyone else found a problem with the iHome? I think I've explored all the obvious causes, but let me know if I'm missing something. I'm going to return the iHome and try again with another one, but I'm afraid I might damage my mini! Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Having the exact same problem. Tried the iPod in another iHome, and it does the same thing. Therefore, problem is in the iPod, not the iHome!

  • Recently played songs

Is there any way that I can list all recently played songs from the Ipod between certain dates? When I try to do it with a smart playlist it just lists the recently played songs from the PC.

Sounds like the playlist has live updates enabled, and the songs are no longer matching all the smart-playlist rules after being played.
Have you modified this smart playlist in any way? Check the rules that it is using (in iTunes) to make sure. I think the default is something like "Last played is in the last 2 weeks".
Another possibility is that you're getting some interference from another smart playlist (one whose rules really should cause tunes to be removed once played). I've seen cases where such a list "overruns" the end of the list, and starts adding things from my Recently Played list - I didn't notice whether that messed up my Recently Played list as well.
In any case, you might be able to fix the problem by disabling live updates on one or more playlists (at the cost of making the lists less useful).
