IPod Mini Beeps then Freezes

Alright. I havent had my iPod a year. Just today I was trying to put some Christmas songs on it. And it said that the copy failed. Then, although my iPod was connected to my computer and was charging, it said that it had no power. Then started beeping twice, then a pause, 2 more beeps ect. Then it shut off and the charge meter comes up. But it freezes at 1/4 of the way instead of constantly moving. When I reset it (soft) iTunes said it was a new iPod. Please reply A.S.A.P. Thank You!!!

Why is ipod mini beeping?

I have had my ipod mini now for about 2 years. Just this year for some reason it started to beep. Does anyone else's ipod mini beep? It also gives off this sound of the hard drive working. Can anyone help me with my situation. Now I can no longer update songs or anything on my ipod and I've tried restoring it about 3 times.

my bro has had his iPod mini for about 2 years now and his has really low battery as well. for instance he has to charge it via usb about 3 times while hes at school, and still by the time he gets home there is no battery left.
anyway, i wouldnt say yours is due for repair yet.
my brothers beeps when you plug it in the pc as well. basically the battery is really low. after about 10 minutes it will have enough charge and it will come up in iTunes and u can just carry on.
theres nowt wrong wi ur iPod mate. just a low battery and a worrying beep

Ipod Mini Beeping, folder icon, battery icon, doesn't work

My iPod mini, has a beeping sound when attached to the USB port and the folder icon keeps coming up, then the Apple logo come up, then the battery icon come up. iTunes cannot see it either.

I checked on my ipod mini that was being charged and every once in awhile it beeps four times. Does this mean the battery is almost dead for good? What's going on?

have u dropped the mini just before this problem appeared if not that probley means u needs to replace the mini battery cause its prolly lost mot of it charge cuase of charge cycles and age

While turned off and on hold, my ipod mini will spasticly start beeping, accually a ctachy little jingle, and turn on display and light. I dont understand why it turns on for it has battery and is on hold...whats wrong? and why does it do that?

You should check to make sure that both of the Alarms are off:
-- Go to Extras==>Clock==>Alarm==>Make sure it is set to off
-- Go to Extras==>Calendar==>Make sure that alarm is set to off

My ipod 5 works, then freezes

So I dropped my ipod 5 yesterday, and it worked for a little while, then it started freezing. I tried a hard reset, but that didn't work. I tried a restore, but that didn't work. So I charged it overnight and it worked for a few minutes, then it froze.

If you successfully restored (went through all steps without error) to factory settings/new iPod via iTunes (Not via Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Setting) and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

Ipod Mini second gen freezes my computer

I have windows 7 and this is the first time i've ever plugged my Ipod into this computer. WHen I plug it in, it isn't detected by the computer or Itunes. If i plug it in then try to open Itunes, it won't open. If i unplug it afterward, then Itunes opens. I also can't open internet explorer. I have the latest version of Itunes and everything on my computer is updated. I have virus protection and all that so I know it's not a virus. What's happening to my ipod? Do i have to reset it? And if so, will i lose all my songs?

Thank you for your kind word, I totally agree that Mark is a knowledgeable guy but def. not me. I am just a guy enjoy to repairing the iPods and share my experience with people who have the problems.
Make the long story short, I do not know the reason cause but I discover the following points:-
1. iPod will be free from problem if it only got charged by the AC charger instead of the computer.
2. Problems always happen just after the installation of the latest iPod updater or connecting with the computer, particular PC.
3. Some iPods not able to be charged from the USB port of a PC - it happens to most of the PDA cases as well. The unstable of power supply from the USB port always the reason to screw the iPod.
4. After the installation of the iPod updater, some iPods need to be plugged with an AC Charger to finish the installation process. And lot of case got stuck at this stage.
5. iPod is like an external HD, when you put it Disk Mode, you got better chance to get your iPod mount with the computer, in order for you to do the Restore.
6. Reset does help on most cases
7. If reset does not work then you must do a Restore
8. Some iPods may need to do a Format (Disk Utility or 3rd party software) instead of purely doing a Restore.
9. If your iPod is formatted in a PC, and cant recognized by your PC, it is better chance to solve it by connectting it with a Mac and vince verse
10. Use Firewire instead of USB
Stay away from connecting your iPod with a PC unless you need to do the update of iPod software

IPod Mini Beeping!!!!!

About 3 minutes ago, I wis sitting here at my PC, and suddenly I hear this noise
dada *Higher pitch* dada *and then lower pitch like the first one* dada
This is freaking me out, it's happened TWICE now.
My iPod was oFF with the hold switch on on, so I couldnt accidentally turn it on.
I have nfi what's going on, and to be quiet honest I'm scared...
any ideas?!

Ipod Mini will not update and sync without mac freezing up

My ipod mini (4GB) cannot hold all my music so I have to single handedly sort out music i want and don't want. So, one day i decide to click 'restore' so i can just drag and drop playlists. Ever since then itunes freezes up when i plug it in and now it won't recognize it. The only way i can get itunes to respond is by unplugging my ipod mini. Then itunes is fine, like nothing happened. Also i have the most up to date itunes software. i don't know what to do.

When the iPod is connected to your computer and in iTunes go to edit-->preferences (in iTunes). Hit the iPod tab. Is it set to automatically update?

Turning the iPod Mini OFF

Using the click wheel, I can pause easily but turning the iPod off is really difficult. I don't know whether I'm holding the Pause button down too long, not long enough or if there's an easier way.
It seems when I turn my iPod off the battery lasts longer than when I pause it and it falls into a deep sleep.
What can I do to make it easier to turn my iPod off?

I was having problems shutting down my iPod Mini. Then it got itself into a state where it needed to be reset it. I wasn't able to get reset to work. I brought to the Apple store and they reset it. They then asked me to reset it. It appears I was applying too much pressure. When I applied only enough pressure to make the switch click it worked. Now the shut down is working for me every time.

I uploaded some songs to my iPod mini.
Then a day later i wanted to add more songs, but when i connect it, it gives me this:

IPod beeping and then freezing up

I have an iPod mini (2nd generation). When I try to download songs from iTunes my iPod will suddenly start beeping (4 beeps decreasing in pitch, then repeats the fourth beep twice) and then it freezes-up iTunes. If I force quit iTunes, then neither iTunes or my computer recognizes the iPod. I usually get the sad or unhappy iPod icon on the iPod screen, but if it is still plugged into the computer I can also get the monochrome non-animated version of the battery icon. Once I go the folder icon with an exclamation point. My battery is fully charged. If I wait several hours I can reset my iPod, hook it to the computer and maybe get several dozen songs downloaded before the iPod starts beeping begins and then whole thing freezes up again.

- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

IPod Mini "Freezes" - Stops Responding

Last week my daughter's iPod mini froze for the first time. I was able to restore it and everything was working fine until yesterday. She has upgraded to the latest iTunes. I believe it is 7.0.1. After upgrading, iTunes told her to restore her iPod. Which she did using the embedded iPod updater in iTunes 7.0. Today the darn thing froze up again.
Is this an iTunes 7.0.1 issue or is it an iPod mini issue. It seems like we should not have an iPod that freezes up multiple times in a week, requiring multple restore operations, only to freeze up again within a day or so.
It is driving me nuts. I need some good advice. Thanks for your help.

Before you plug your iPod with the Ac charger, Press "Menu"+"Select" keys until you see the Apple Logo. Then connect it with the AC Charger, press "Select"+"play" keys and it will put your iPod in Disk Mode. Connect it with your PC, and open the iPod updater and do the RESTORE - bear in mind it will erase all your data in your iPod. Once finished, update your iPod with your iTune. Hope it works

IPod mini stops playing and beeps!!

My iPod mini will be playing a song, then it will just stop playing and start beeping in this weird pattern. The display still shows that music is playing, but it doesn't start playing until I reset it. Then sometimes the sad iPod will show up and I have restored it 3 times now and this is still happening... is it shot??

Windows PC freeze when Ipod mini connected

Hi,
I've had my my Ipod for just over a year now and have had no problems so far but last night a serious one occured. I was going to put more music onto the ipod and added the files I wanted to the library. I then connected the USB cable into a port and then into the Ipod mini.
2 or 3 seconds after connection to mini ipod my computer freezes and I had to reset it at the machine.
I have since tried several times to connect my ipod mini to the computer to install the additional music but each time the PC freezes and has to be reset. I have installed the itunes 6.3.5 (?) but with no change.
Could anybody please tell me why this may be happening and what I could do to resolve the issue?
