Ipod mini cannot be synced-Please Help

Hi,
I can not sync music to my ipod from itunes because it keeps saying "The ipod cannot be synced. The required disk cannot be found." I have already tried reinstalling my USB drive and it is still not working. The ipod shows up in itunes and then on my computer briefly then it disappears. PLEASE HELP

I am having the same problem and I don't know what to do about it! I have 916 songs on my computer but only 136 are transferring on to my ipod. I just started using a new computer and I tried synching it today for the first time and that's what happened. My itunes keeps freezing when this happens and then I have to restart my computer so it's frustrating. please if anyone knows what to do...

how come my itunes says that my ipod mini cannot be synced?
it just happens when i get to a certain amount of songs?
    thanks in advance!

I happen to have the exact same problem. Yes, i have gone through the "five r's", and nothing has been fixed. I'll try it again and see if anything happens.
This error occurs when iTunes is open, and the iPod begins to sync. About 10 seconds after, then itunes displays that error message.
    please help!

  • "Ipod Cannot be Synced" -Please Help!!!

I must have spend hours reading forums and discussion boards trying to fix this.. No matter what I do to my Ipod or computer I get a "(My) Ipod could not be synced. Required disk could not be found." Please help me out!!

Sorry, I see your on a Windows machine. You would need to go to an Apple Store and plug it into a Mac. Then open the Disk Utility in the Utilities folder, select your iPod and click on Repair Disk.
Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility
I take it you tried resetting and/or restoring your iPod?

  • IPod "mine" cannot be synced. An unknown error occurred (-50).

Every time I try to sync my iPod vid classic 30gb I get this error. Furthermore, it will not let me eject the iPod because it says files are in use. Occasionally, it tells me that it cannot find the drive.
Yes, I have done all the "r"s.
I've tried full restore 3 times.
Is this a glitch with the new iTunes update.
It seems everything about the updates for the new iPhone is screwing up my system.
    First iWeb, now this.
Please help, I need my podcasts.
One more thing, for some reason, many of my video podcasts do not load (eg. Mr. Deity--some do, some don't). Any help with that would be great, too.

  • IPod mini is very sick, please help

Problem: When my mini is fully charged (8 hrs) and updated, I can listen to about one or two songs (all songs are playable at this point). After a song or two, the battery icon drains completely and the screen says "low battery". The iPod then turns off by itself. This happens every single time, no matter how "charged" the ipod is. When I press the middle button to turn it back on the battery icon in the upper corner is empty, and about half of my songs (albums) will play. The iPod will get to an album that it won't play and skip through every song on the album (even albums purchased from iTunes). When I can find an album that my mini will play, the battery slowly creeps up to about a third full, and I get about an hour or two of playing time before the battery is drained. I find this weird b/c my mini does not discriminate against certain songs, but ENTIRE albums (purchased from iTunes and imported CDs, doesn't matter). Meaning, if my mini plays one song on an album, every song on that album is playable. If it can't play one song on an album, no songs on that album will play. It doesn't matter if I'm playing it in shuffle mode, through all songs, by artist, or by album. When it gets to a song from an album it won't play, it just skips over the song. Is this a battery issue or a hard drive issue? Anybody know quick fixes or how much it would cost to repair? -thanks

As much as the new battery would help, if you open your iPod casing, then you'll void the warranty on your iPod, making it nearly impossible to get it fixed if you break something inside it, or if the battery isn't the problem.
Oh, and no, the iPod battery won't shorten life if you turn it on and off by the play button. That's an energy conservation tool so you don't need to waste battery waiting for your iPod to turn off by auto-sleep.
I reccomend that you simply take the iPod into Apple. It easier, and you won't void your warranty.

    Hello WGT52,
It sounds like this error message is preventing you from syncing your content to the iPod. I would recommend the troubleshooting steps in the following article:

"I was thinking I would just connect my iPhone and all of my music and other stuff would transfer to the new computer. "
Not true. The music and pic sync is one way - computer to iphone. The only exception is itunes purchases. Without syncing: File>Transfer Purchases
You really should transfer everything from the old computer, or your backup copy of your computer. Since you do not have access to the old computer, then use your backup copy of the old computer.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup copy of your computer ( not good), then you would have to transfer itunes purchased as described earlier. Any other itunes content would be lost.
You can e-mail photo library pics to yourself, but they will not be of the original quality.
Before syncing, enter at least one unique contact and calendar entry on the computer. When you first sync, then you should get the option to merge the data.

  • When I plug in my ipod it comes up with an error saying, "ipod "Skye" cannot be synced, duplicate file name specified." it wont let me put any songs on my ipod? Help!

my computer deleted all of my songs off my ipod one time with i unplugged it, i think i unplugged it too soon and it wasn't finished ejecting. now every time i plug it in it gives me an error saying "the ipod 'Skye' cannot be synced, a duplicate file name was specified." It wont let me put any songs on my ipod now.

Never mind.  I found out how to fix the problem
    - Go to "Computer"
    - Right click on your IPod icon
    - Click "Properties"
    - Go to the "Tools" tab
    - Under "Error -checking" cilck the "Check now..." button
After doing all of that, ITunes now works like normal for me.

  • The iPod "iHazen" cannot be synced. You do not have enough access....

    privileges for this operation."
When I attempt to plug my iPod into my macbook, it begins syncing then this happens:
First, iTunes tells me the default "It could damage your ipod to disconnect it without ejecting it" message.
    Then I get:
"The iPod "iHazen" cannot be synced. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation."
    I click ok. I then get :
"Attempting to copy to the disk "iPod" failed. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation"
    In small print it says:
"iTunes could not save to your Music Folder because you do not have write access. Check the permissions on your music folder and the folders in your Music Folder, then try copying this file again"
Basically, I've tried messing around with the Permissions on a bunch of folders, I've lurked google, and multiple forums including this one for an answer. One had something to do with iPhoto, but my iPod does not even sync my photos. I've obviously tried restoring the iPod, and reinstalling iTunes...
so if anyone, has any other types of ideas.. I'd love to hear them.
Apparently this happens to every type of iPod, including iPhones... and no one has a solution. Music won't even stay on my ipod after it syncs like a gig and half. It doesn't even stop at a certain location every time. I've deleted the files it stops on to no avail.
    Please help

I've been having the same problem! It's so frustrating!!
Mine was starting to sync, then i got the same messages about "not enough access privileges" but i also got a message that said I improperly removed the device -which i didn't- and that has been giving me a lot of problems, like my ipod freezing and having to just take it out, reset it and reboot computor. The last time I tried it it would start syncing but take FOREVER , like get stuck on one thing.
I, as well, have tried almost everything: rebooting computer, uninstalling & reinstalling itunes, restoring and resetting ipod to factory settings (multiple times!), making sure ipod is fully charged, enabling disk use, checking and changing ALL the permissions and applying to all enclosed fields, installing and updating all new software, repaired disk utilities...I don't know!!!
I think i will try what manbartlett suggested about enabling disk use AND putting ipod into disk mode and then verify/repair? maybe try another USB cord as well.
I'm just not sure if its my computor and the application and files or if its just the ipod itself...
I've tried calling the apple hot-line but was so frustrated because the connection was muffled and the person was foreign and no offense but it kind of makes it hard to understand!!
Did doing all that help at least for a while?
any more help would be awesome!
