Ipod mini dock help

just bought an ipod mini dock made from apple for a first gen. ipod mini
i used the usb cable and connected it to the dock and placed my ipod mini in but nothing happens
does anyone know why the dock won't work?

No. They'll send you the same model as you originally purchased. How is that a rip-off? You're getting what you paid for. The fact that there is a new model available now doesn't change that.
Refurbished means it may have been returned to Apple by someone else... then Apple fixes it to like-new conditions and sends it out to replace a warranty iPod such as yours. Honestly... you won't even know the difference between a refurb and a new iPod.

  • IPod mini dock with nano issue

After seeing a few people use their iPod mini dock successfully with the Nano, I thought I would try it on mine. It works just fine, except for the fact that after leaving the nano in the dock for a day or so I noticed that it became loose and I had to push it down again on the connector.
    Has anyone else experienced this?

Probably just because while the connector is the same the molding is sized for the Mini not the Nano so it's not surprising it might come loose.

  • IPod Mini Dock

I have had an iPod mini dock for under a year and I feel as if it is not working anymore. When I plug my iPod in it connects and disconnects rapidly, however when I plug the standard USB cable directly into the iPod all is well. Any idea how this may be fixed, or whether apple replace faulty products if they have been owned for under a year?

Hallo, I bought in Wash DC a new mini IPod 6gb and a dock.
Yesterday I left DC and now I'm in Rome traying to use my new I pod BUT... the dock doesn't work!
When I connect IPod directly on my pc it's recognised, but if I connect it by dock nothing happens!
Do I have to go to a Apple customer care?
    Thank's!

  • Ipod mini troubles: Help Needed

I really need help with ipod mini troubleshooting..
I've had my Ipod mini for about 3 years now and lately have been running into a few problems.
    In the past few months:
-My Ipod's "battery meter" has been acting really strange, one second it may be reading as 3/4 full, and the next it shuts down saying that my battery has depleted, then a few minutes later it will be reading full again. And just to let you know, I always charge it overnight to avoid having a dead battery, and I always make sure to properly shut it off using "hold".
Resetting my ipod works sometimes, but other times doesn't..
    Yesterday:
My Ipod is no longer responding at all, and I'm pretty sure I know why: Some careless person spilled some water near and on my ipod, I dried it off as soon as I could. It was working properly shortly afterwards, but a few hours later, it shut off saying that the battery was dead again, and a picture of a "cartoon ipod" with dead eyes("XX") appeared on my screen, and it said under the picture to go to "www.apple/support/ipod". This was when it wasn't connected to a power source. When I connected my ipod to my computer via USB, my itunes does not recognize that it is connected ("Do not disconnect" does not appear on my ipod) and a picture of a "dead battery" has appeared on my screen, it is not in the "recharging mode" either (with the picture of the battery moving).
I tried re-setting it numourous times, and always end up with either the "dead battery" picture, or the "dead cartoon ipod" picture on it.
Help would be greatly appreciated, as I use my ipod everyday for school and leisure.
    Thanks.

I've tried that several times without luck.

  • Ipod mini battery help!

I have an Ipod mini and I will listen to about two songs and it will tell me that it is out of battery power. But I charge it every night until it say charged and sometimes I leave it over night plugged in. Do I need a new battery? Any help would be great.

I'm actually having a similar problem. I've had my iPod about 3 1/2 months now and lately it's been cutting off, telling me that there's no battery power, even if I've just charged it. I've reset it and it's worked for a minute and then does the same thing. I'll have to try resetting it 2 or 3 times and then the battery will kick back in. But it's been happening for a couple of weeks now. What's the deal? I've noticed it's been doing this since I updated with the 9/23 update.

  • IPod Mini need help!

    Hello everybody!
Lately, I have been having trouble with my pink iPod Mini (1st generation). I was updating my iPod Mini with the latest restore, and it completed, and required me to plug the ipod into an external power charger. I was not at home, and I did not have the charger at that time. I waited until I got home, and I plugged it into the external charger, I unplugged it about 45 minutes later, and every since, all it has shown me was a folder with an exclamation point next to it.
I have tried: Resetting the iPod, Restoring the iPod, Uninstalling the iPod Software and iTunes, and then reinstalling those programs. Plugging the iPod into an external power source, using different USB Port, restarting the computer, and Diagnostic Mode.
I was planning on sending it to Apple for repair, but it is not under warranty, and it might just go back to eBay where it came from if I can't get it working.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!
    Thank you,

Ipod displays folder with an exclamation point. I had the same proble with you before, but my iPod is 3rd generation. Fortunately, when my iPod was acting up it still under warranty so Apple changed my iPod to brand new one. It's your choice to either send it to Apple for service or sell in eBay. Anyways, I don't trust eBay in terms of electronics.

  • Missing iTunes on my iPod mini, please help

I used to have some itunes that I had paid for on my ipod mini but tonight when I updated my ipod I receieved a message that read, "some of the songs in the iTunes music library including the song "100 years," were not copied to the iPod "Alissa's iPod" because you are not authorized to play them on this computer." My iTunes have been erased from my iPod but are still on my computer iTunes. This message is very confusing to me because I downloaded these songs from iTunes onto the only computer that I use to update my iTunes on. I don't understand why I wouldn't be authorized to use iTunes on my iPod all of a sudden when I was authorized before. Can anyone help me get my songs back onto my ipod? All of my other songs in my library that I have from my cds are still on my ipod, I'm only missing the downloaded iTune songs.

First of all, ensure that you are using the lates iTunes which is version 4.9
Then try Deauthorizing and then reauthorizing your computer, and see if this fixes the transfer issue.

  • Think my friend fused their ipod mini. HELP!

Can anyone try explain what the possible problem is with my friends ipod so that we can judge whether it is better to get it fixed or just buy a new one.
    Here is the story:
My friend has an ipod Mini. She says it hasn't been charging very well. So she went and bought a charger from a shop. She asked the guy at the shop if it was a charger for an ipod and he said it was an mp3 charger and that it would work with an ipod, but when she got home and opened the charger it didn't have the right slot connection for an ipod. She wasn't sure what to do so she looked on her ipod and found that the charger connection fitted in the earphone slot. So she thought that this was where you put it. When she put the charger on, she heard a little sound and now we can smell this fused smell from the earphone slot. The ipod still worked after this but now it doesn't charge at all. The guy at the shop said sorry for the wrong information but it was hear fault for not being technologically minded and putting the charger in the wrong slot.
Can anyone please give a little advice as to what the problem is so that I can tell her if she should have it sent for fixing or should she just buy a new one. Please Help!!!!

It does indeed look as if the iPod may have been damaged by inserting the charger into the headphone socket and then connecting the charger to an electricity supply.
It's difficult to say exactly what internal damage has been caused by this.
Whether it would be better to repair or replace the iPod depends on how much it would cost to fix.
Apple won't do it so you should look at one of the many 3rd party repair sites such as iPodResQ. They will do an estimate for you on how much it's likely to cost. There are other places you can find if you Google 'iPod repairs'.
Btw, the guy at the shop sounds like a real jerk!

  • My itunes will not update my ipod mini-please help me

For the last couple of days, I have been updating my itunes with new music. However, when I connect my ipod to my PC it does not update my ipod mini with the new music. The other night it was connected and said it was charging but didn't update and right now it's plugged in and says nothing, I think the battery died. So I am wondering how in the world do i get my ipod to update. Please someone help me! I've already tried rebooting the computer, what else works?

Sounds like you've got connection problems, Al. Also, the exclamation mark means you need to restore your iPod.
Run the iPod Updater (Start - Programs - iPod) and only connect your mini when it tells you to connect and iPod. This time, however, connect it to one of the ports on the rear of your computer (if you have a desktop).
If it's still not recognized by the updater, reset it: hold down the Menu and Center buttons until you see the Apple logo.
If it's recognized by the updater, choose the Restore option and follow the instructions from there.

  • Vista won't install Ipod Mini - PLEASE HELP!!

Latest version of Itunes 7.4.2 has been installed, Windows Vista has located Ipod mini in "other devices" in "Device Manager", but it won't install the Ipod. I've reinstalled Itunes three times and searched the Windows Vista disk and various internet forums, but with no luck.
I'm on the verge of selling the ipod - any advice would be welcome.
    Thanks

I suggest either getting a Mac or going back to Windows XP because Vista is known to have these problems.

  • Formatted ipod mini - PLEASE HELP

I formatted my ipod mini and now the only thing I get on the screen is a picture of a "folder" with a "hazzard" sign and the url: www.apple.com/support/ipod. A lot of good that's done me.
So now in essence it's acting like a removable HDD and nothing more.
I don't need to update the ipod because the updater tells me i have the latest software (1.4) on the ipod and when i try to restore the ipod i get the message "Firmware update failure. Disk write error"
I did manage to get the ipod up in itunes and uploaded a few songs onto the ipod but as soon as it was disconnected the picture of a "folder" with a "hazzard" sign and the url: www.apple.com/support/ipod came back up on screen and it still won't restore the ipod.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciacted.

  • Can't add songs to iPod mini - Please help

I am running iTunes 6 on Windows XP and my iPod mini is updated with the latest software. I connect it to my computer and it appears in iTunes without any problems. I add songs to it from my library and they appear to transfer without any problems. But when I do, a yellow triangle with an exclamation point appears in my system tray. It is an itunes.exe - Corrupt File message. When I unplug my iPod, the songs that I added no longer appear in my song list.
I have 2 iPods that I use on this computer and the other one works perfectly. So my question is 2-fold. 1, how do I fix this? And 2, why did it happen so that I can prevent it in the future?

    hi Amy!
here's a good place to start with that error message:
iPod: What to do if Windows displays an "itunes.exe - Corrupt File" message
but if more advanced treatments are required, Da Gopha's excellent compendium may be useful:

  • Problems with ipod mini pls. help

well one day i was charging my mini but wen i took it out of the usb cord and listened to it it says it does not have any songs like everything has been ereased. i tried restoring it but it does not work. also wen i plug it in usb and itunes comes up it says it cannot recognize my ipod.
any suggestions would be greatly appriciated!!!

First of all, try another port on your computer. Some ports are not connected direct to the motherboard and do not recognize the iPod as well as those that are. Reset the iPod each time you connect it to another port.
    Still no joy, see these.
Your Windows PC doesn't recognize iPod.
iPod appears in Windows Explorer but does not appear in iTunes.
iPod does not appear in iTunes.
Fast user switching in Windows XP is not supported.
    Strange iPod behavior.
When restoring the iPod, put it into disk mode first.
    Putting iPod into disk mode.
And it's always helpful if you state what computer you have as advice is often specific to that.
Fill out your computer profile by clicking on the "my settings" link in the box to the right.
