  • I have an iPod mini 6GB and want to use it with a Sony CD Boombox but the adapter is different. Can it work?

I have an iPod mini, 6 GB and want to use it with a Sony CD Boombox but the adapter is different. Can it still work? Don't want to try and break iPod.

Do you mean that the iPod mini won't fit on the "dock" because of shape (of the iPod), or is the docking connection a different type from the "30-pin" dock connector on the iPod mini?

  • IPod mini makes me want to kill myself!!

I've had my iPod mini for many months and never had a problem with it. My brother recieved the same iPod mini for his birthday so we're using two iPods on one computer. So today my brother plugged his iPod into my cord on the computer and later ejected it and left the cord alone. Then I plugged my iPod mini into the same cord and iTunes opened only showing my iPod mini as my brother's iPod mini. So not only are all of my songs deleted off of my iPod but my brother's songs are on my iPod now. AND I can't even listen to his songs that are now on my iPod. It just skips every single one. So ***!? I tried restarting the computer and it's still the same and I tried restarting the iPod mini and it's still the same. It still shows up on iTunes as my brother's iPod. So someone please help before I throw this piece of **** against the wall! Thanks!!!!!!!!!!1

Why is it a piece of c*ap simply because either you or your brother messed up?
Try restoring the iPod back to factory settings, and once you've done that simply transfer the songs you want from iTunes back to your iPod.

  • Is there a way to put a large amount of music on your iPod without having to keep all the files in iTunes on your computer as well? I want to put my entire music collection (including cds) on my iPod but don't want to take up the space on my computer.

is there a way to put a large amount of music on the ipod without having to keep all the files on itunes as well? I want to use my ipod as an externa drive and put all of my music on it without taking up the space on my computer. I also don't want to lose all my files everytime I plug ipod into my computer. Is this possible? Is there a way to avoid using itunes and only use the ipod as an external drive?

You cannot put music onto your iPod without using iTunes, that what iTunes is for.
It's also not a good idea to wipe the music from your computer and having it only on your iPod. We see countless posts here from people who have done just that - and then lost everything when the iPod needs a Restore. Even if you never need to Restore your iPod, what happens when you eventually replace the iPod? You'll be back here asking how to get the music from one iPod to another. That's not easy to do, we see countless posts about that too!
A much better idea is to buy an external drive (a proper external drive, not simply an iPod) and put your large amount of music onto that drive. Then point your iTunes Library to that drive. However, you need to remember two things:
You still need a backup of that Library.
Using an external drive as your iTunes Library means that the drive must be connected and ready to read before starting your iTunes programme. If it isn't, then iTunes will look on the C: drive - and you will find no music in your Library. (Once again, lots of posts about that as well!)

  • Ipod 4g don't want to open

help me please my ipod touch 4g don't want to open after an update

Have you tried plugging the phone in to iTunes and restoring it?

  • Don't know passcode to iPod but don't want to lose everything!?

I just found my iPod and I cannot remember the passcode for the life of me. I tried twice & the second time it disabled for a minute, then a minute later after just one try it disabled for 5 minutes. I was just going to back it up & then restore it like last time this happened but this time it says that I need to unlock the iPod first. Unfortunately that's why I was trying to do that :-) I really really don't want to lose everything but don't know what to do. I just spent the past hour trying to figure it out, but no luck. Please please please help! Thank you so much!!

You don't have that choice, I'm afraid.

  • Old ipod..don't want to restore, just sync with current library

I found my old 40G ipod classic and want to sync it with my current itunes. I have tried home sharing..nothing..
Don't want to erase and restore this ipod..can I import all the music and sync with current library?

You can import all the music from your iPod back to the computer and iTunes. Once it's there you can sync your iPod with the iTunes library.
Be very careful when connecting an iPod full of music to an empty iTunes library. There is very real risk of permanently losing all the music.
To prevent auto sync, before you connect the iPod go to iTunes/preferences and select "devices", then select "disable automatic syncing for iPhones and iPods".
An alternative method is to connect the iPod whilst holding down the 'Command + Option' keys and do not let them go until your iPod appears in iTunes.
If you see a message that your iPod is associated with a different library and asks if you want to link to a new one, make sure you press "Cancel".
If you should click on "Erase and Sync" will erase all the content currently on your iPod and it will be replaced with the content of the iTunes library you just connected to.
When you've pressed cancel your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list under "devices" and allow you to change the update setting to manage the iPod content manually, and that will let you use your iPod for the time being without the risk of accidentally erasing the contents.
Then do any of the following to transfer your music from iPod back to the computer/iTunes.
For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
Find out how to do that here.
How to copy iTunes purchases from an iPod or iPhone to a computer.
For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Try iPodDisk. This is a program designed to transfer music from iPod to computer.
Similar programs are Expod, Yamipod, Senuti and Music Rescue.
If you want to retrieve playlists, iPodRip has the feature enabling you to reconstruct them.
And btw, your iPod is not an iPod classic.

  • There are these static boxes on my iPod and don't want to come off.

Can someone please help me? There are these static boxes on the top part of my screen that don't want to come off, and i don't know what to do.

I suspect a hardware problem but try the following to rule out a software problem
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings if you can
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • My ipod mini doesn't want to turn on anymore? whats wrong?

ive had this i pod sence it came out and now i want to use it again after a few years not using it at all, what can i do to help turn on again, all i get is a appel sign.

Since it's been a few years since the iPod was last used, it's likely that the iPod's battery is totally dead and in need of replacement.  Apple will change it out for a flat fee or you can send it into a third party repair company for a bit less.

  • My ipod touch 4th generation no longer holds it's charge for more than 40mins,needs new internal battery but I have no idea how to go about this. i love my ipod and don't want it to loose power completely, can anyone help?

My ipod touch 4th generation no longer holds it's charge for more than 40mins from full power, think it needs a new internal battery but have no idea how to go about this and am no longer covered by my guarantee. Can anyone advise me on what's best? Thanks in advance

Using the battery level meter in this manner is comparable to using your car's fuel gauge to calculate miles per gallon. The only thing that matters is the total amount of operating time from full charge to auto-shutdown.
Use an Apple wall-mount charger.  Do NOT use a computer's USB port.  Then, operate it normally until auto shut-down (ignore any low level alerts that may appear).  An irony is that doing that test to determine the total operating time is also the exact procedure necessary to calibrate the battery level meter.
I'm not claiming that you do not have a problem.  I am stating, however, that we don't yet know whether or not a battery problem exists.
    According to Apple:
    Use Your iPod Regularly
For proper reporting of the battery’s state of charge, be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).
Elsewhere, Apple elaborates and explains that two half-discharges (or four quarter-discharges, etc.) equals one full discharge.

  • New Computer. Want to upload iPod, but don't want to lose songs.

    Yea.
My computer got messed up, so we had to delete everything and then reboot it. Well we got iTunes again, but the last time I plugged it in (because we had to reboot the comp. before) i lost all my songs. How can i do this so i upload my songs on my iPod onto iTunes?

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use our iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod.
The transfer of content sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

    YamiPod Mac and Windows
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)

If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • Ipod mini 1.4 random turns off / resets itself

my last mini had battery issues and was thankfully replaced by the people at Apple with a brand new mini.
however, this brand new mini has issues. sometimes when i press the select, skip or play buttons, the unit will reset and i will see the Apple logo. this happens when i am using it normally and also when i have it docked in my car (using with iTrip). this is really frustrating!
i checked the calendar, alarm, etc. but none of these are set. sometimes i can play it with no problems at all, and then it will restart when i go to skip, play or pause a track. this should not be happening with a brand new unit!
please, if anyone can help, let me know. otherwise, do i have to shell out another 50 bucks to have this one sent back like my last one? grrrr!

Just got off the phone with apple, there seems a problem with the new firmware, after installing the new firmware on my iphone it then asked for the usb driver.
If you get this same problem you need to go into device manager update the driver for the iphone from the following location, c:/program files/common files/apple/drivers.
After this I put the Iphone in recovery mode and downloaded and installed the new 1.1.4 firmware.
