Ipod mini Functions refusing to install?

I recently purchased an ipod mini for entertainment rather than my old walkman, i tried installing the Disk containing itunes which comes as part of the package and get past entering in the ipod reference number, then it starts installing, once it is completed the window automatically closes, however, when i browse through my computer files i cannot find it anywhere in sight, i have tried restarting my computer multiple times and re-installing it to no good effect, i have even gone online and tried manually downloading itunes to no effect AT ALL!!! i cant find any support online or in my instruction booklet, and i dont fancy having to pay £50 to get somebody to do it for me either! any expert advice out there?

So when you install iTunes you can't find it anywhere in order to double click and get it to open? There's no icon on your desktop that says iTunes? How about when you click the Start menu on the bottom left of your screen and search there?

  • Ipod mini software- can you install it on more than one computer?

    Hi all,
Got no response to my first question so I thought I'd try again.
I want to install the software for my first-generation ipod mini on my friend's computer, but I heard somewhere that you can only install the software on one computer and obviously I also want to be able to use it with my own computer as well. Can you install itunes software that comes with your ipod mini on as many computers as you want or only one?
    Many thanks,
    Samantha

You don't need to install the software
Sorry Jeff. She asked "Can you install itunes software that comes with your ipod mini on as many computers as you want or only one?"
You HAVE to install the software (iTunes) in order to run it.
Yes, you can install iTunes on as many computers as you want. You do not need to use the software CD that came with the iPod. Probably outdated anyway.
You can download iTunes from www.itunes.com

  • Vista won't install Ipod Mini - PLEASE HELP!!

Latest version of Itunes 7.4.2 has been installed, Windows Vista has located Ipod mini in "other devices" in "Device Manager", but it won't install the Ipod. I've reinstalled Itunes three times and searched the Windows Vista disk and various internet forums, but with no luck.
I'm on the verge of selling the ipod - any advice would be welcome.
    Thanks

I suggest either getting a Mac or going back to Windows XP because Vista is known to have these problems.

  • Installing ipod mini to PC

my little sister got an ipod mini today and we are having trouble getting it to connect with the PC.

Try this instead of using the supplied installation CD.
Download the iPod Updater, install this to your computer, restart the computer, run the Updater, then connect your iPod when prompted (not before), then follow the set up procedure.

  • Installing iPod mini Softw my PC says not enough space onHD

Hi, 1st time posting; I'm surprised by the huge amount of troubles people are experiencing with iPod mini. THE PROBLEM: my daughter bought iPod mini (4Gb) in July in the US (we live in Italy). When I try to install on my old PC the software from the installation disk that came with it , this message comes out: "Out of disk space. Disk space required for the installation exceeds available disk space. Volume 'C' required space 34.626 Kb: available space 18.840 Kb. Error 1603". My OS is installed on the HD "C" where I see 90Mb of free space. I've also tried to redirect the installation to the other HD "D" drive with 3Gb of free space that was reformatted before the installation, but with the same error message. I also disabled the antivirus. Any help for my iPod mini? Thank u very much

Your old PC probably doesn't meet the requirements that the installation cd requires. Your old PC might not have room for the mini files.
How about deleting stuff you don't need and then trying again?

  • Steps on Installing iPod Shuffle on Comp that has iPod Mini Installed

I will be getting an iPod Shuffle soon and will be installing it on the same computer that already has my iPod Mini (2nd gen) installed. It's a PC and I'm running XP Home with iTunes version 6.0.1.3. I was just wondering if prior to getting the Shuffle if there are any steps that I should follow when installing it. I understand that there are some issues with muliple iPods so I'm just getting as much info as I can.
I have already read through this document: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300432 and will be trying Method Two. But what the article doesn't tell me is if I should still input the CD that comes with the Shuffle..or if I should just try plugging it in directly when I get it. I'm assuming that I still input the CD and run the Shuffle installation and then when it gets to the iTunes installation I just quit (since I already have iTunes on my computer)?? Is that right?
Are there any detailed steps out there that can provide me with a step-by-step guide of installing two iPods (1 Mini, 1 Shuffle) on the same computer? Thanks in advance!

So you can't manually drop songs into the Shuffle from iTunes (like you can with the Mini)? Are you saying that the preferences have to be set to automatic to get music onto it?
You can move songs to and from the iPod shuffle playlist in iTunes so that only the ones you want on the shuffle appear in that playlist.
Do I not need to format the Shuffle to work with my PC?
The iPod shuffle comes in FAT32 format, and only works as a music player when it is in this format. The iPod nano comes in FAT32 format, but converts itself to HFS+ if the first machine it is plugged into is a Mac.
So, even if I have the 1.4.1 update and 6.0 of iTunes (which I believe are the latest) I can just plug it in without running the install/format from the CD?
    Yes.

  • Problem installing ipod mini hardware error msg

Installed software ok but when I connect ipod mini to USB 2.0 I get "Found new hardware wizard. There was a problem installing this hardware: apple ipod usb device. An error occurred during the installation of the device. One of the filter drivers installed for this device is invalid." If I click finish I get a pop up at bottom saying" A problem occurred during installation. Your new hardware might not work properly." Click out of that and my ipod and itunes works ok. How do I correct this nusance? Tried reloading 3 times now, same results. Brand new to ipod.

hey, i finally figured out how to do it! i had the same frustrating problem as you until just a moment ago : ) This is what you need to do:
    1) Reset your iPod Mini by holding down on the Menu and the Select button until the Apple appears.
    2) Plug it into your computer, windows and mac should be the same for that
    3) Go into the iPod Updater and update the software : ) should work... if you need anything else, just ask or go to the following:

  • Installed ipod mini battery...easy as pie

If you were thinking of sending in your ipod mini for a new battery or even purchasing a new one from Apple, don't. I just installed a new battery in five minutes. I'm not terribly handy, so if I can do it, anyone can. I paid less than $15 for a kit on line (many resources for this available). So, if you are still OK with your mini and need a new battery, do it yourself for heaven's sake.

Sorry the delayed response. I received instructions and tools with the battery, but you can view a video here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XULR7z8vFec&eurl=http://video.google.com/videosea rch?q=new%20battery%20for%20ipod%20mini&ie=UTF-8&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozi.

  • IPod (Mini) refuse to sort smart playlists

    Hello helpful ones.
I've got a rather annoying problem. I have a few smart playlists on my iPod Mini, like most people. I've set my iTunes to NOT autosync with the iPod. This is because the iPod does not have enough storage space for this feature.
Anyway, take the "recently added"-playlist for example. I've set it up to return the 50 newest songs, and sort them by their title/name. Whenever I drag-n-drop a new file onto the iPod, it appears in the playlist but allways ends up at the bottom. The iPod is totally disregarding my sorting instructions.
Playlist details, roughly translated from Norwegian:
    Match the following criteria:
    <Date added> <is in the last> <3> <months>
    Limit to <50> <songs> selected/sorted by <most recently added>
    <auto update>
iTunes on the other hand, sorts the playlist just fine. I seems like iTunes won't bother to update the playlist on the iPod, for some reason (I guess this is how it works, as it seems that the iPod itself aren't capable of much database handling).
I'm using an iPod Mini with firmware version 1.4 (all though it seems like this problem has been there with previous versions, but I can't really remember) and iTunes version 6.0.1.3 (Norwegian).
Does anyone have a clue what I'm doing wrong, or why my iPod is acting up?
Thanks for taking the time to read this

I read most of that thread before posting my question. It seems like the problems mentioned in that scenario gets solved when connecting the iPod to a computer.
That's what I can't understand here. When browsing the playlist on the iPod from within iTunes, everything seems updated and ok. But when I'm accessing the same playlist on the iPod itself after disconnecting it from the computer, the newly added songs just gets appended to the bottom of the list. I.e. no sorting of titles.
Just for the record, I completly restored both the iPod firmware (erasing everything) and the iTunes installation on my computer. I also reinstalled the ipodservice-thing that runs when you connect the device.

  • IPOD mini click wheel not  functioning

My IPOD mini click wheel is not working. When I attach to my PC, Itunes recognizes it, is able to read the hard drive/play music off the IPOD. I have tried to restore it, the drive is erased, but the click wheel still does not work. I am unable to reset the Mini using the click wheel. Itunes says my software is the most recent.
    thanks

Mine does the same, I can get it to work by taking off the bottom plastic part of the Ipod Mini and pulling the metal thing out a bit.

  • Unhappy ipod mini! apple refused to fix it!

I hav an ipod mini, but it broke and was showing an unhappy ipod on screen. I finally managed to get hold of apple on the phone, so i could have it sent away and fixed as it is still under warranty! the box was sent out and then my ipod started its journey to the Netherlands. I received my ipod back 8 days later with a note saying they hadn.t fixed it due to my ipod being abused!!!! ??? An unhappy ipod is a technical fault with the program, therefor why is it that "i have abused my ipod" when there is no external damage and it hasnt been near water or been dropped! i phoned apple and they wouldnt send me out or a replacement or fix the one i have! The operator would not let me talk to managment, so i demanded that he told me an address i could right to management! this sort of stuff is covered in the "Consumer Protection Act 1987" and "Supply of goods and services act 1982" Has anyone else had the same problem with apples crappy services????

thanks im going to try. I have found the acts and the copy of there policy and im goin to take photos of my ipod so they can see it isnt damaged externally. And if they still wont do anything about it then i will take it to trading standards! I spent an hour on the phone to them last night and got no where, I must have spent about 25 minutes of that on hold!! got knows how much that is going to cost me for the phone bill!!

  • IPod Mini Refuses to Turn on {HELP!!}

I have had my iPod mini for almost a year now.It has always worked and been wonderful up till last week. I tried to turn it on, and it wouldn't work. So I got on this site and I looked up what others did.
I made sure that there was no other device hooked up to the USB and then connected (it didn't turn on). I tried to charge using the wall cord charger (it didn't turn on). I tried to "reset" it by leaving it be for 24 hours before trying to charge it again (it didn't turn on). I check to see if the hold button was on before attempting any of the solutions, and it wasn't...so I know that it's not that.
I also read about battery drainage, but my iPod won't even turn on and it wasn't showing any of the symptoms that battery drainage has (saying it's charged and then dieing).
I haven't dropped my iPod in a very long time either.I'm really worried that it's permanently damaged.
I really can't afford another iPod, so I am depending on you guys, please, any advice might help.
